Places to stay in Bar Harbor

Places to stay in Bar Harbor
Closed until June 1st!! Come stay among moss covered spruce woods in our village of tiny homes and misfit animals. Due to restrictions we are only able to have one party per week so we encourage longer stays. However we understand restraints and allow 2 nights during the winter months. Bike three miles to picnic by the ocean, swim or to hike up the western mountains. Take a short drive to Southwest fresh seafood and entertainment. Even enjoy avant-garde theater in a rustic barn by the sea.
This home is built with bent maple poles in the style of an Iroquois Longhouse. There are large windows that let in the morning sun, space for storage, a wood stove perfect for winter stays and a cozy twin sized bed. Our property is located on a dead end road, please make sure to drive all the way to the end and park. We also have a very strict 10 mph speed limit on our road. It is important for our future that guests do not go over that limit. Thank you in advance.
Our tiny homes are sheltered in a quite mossy woodland. Just a mile walk from our land is a lake with wonderful swimming and fishing and the trailhead up the western mountains of Acadia. Take a two and a half mile bike ride in the opposite direction and you'll find yourself at a beautiful picnic spot by the ocean, the perfect place to enjoy a lobster bake as you watch the sun set.
  • Coyote’s den was more than what we dreamed it could be. Extremely cozy had all the comforts we needed, It was the perfect get away. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and their animals were a delight.

  • This place is amazing! If you are looking for a piece of the woods without fully roughing it, this is it. We stayed very warm and comfortable throughout with the wood stove, had great responsiveness to any questions, and really enjoyed stopping by to see all the wonderful animals. Their big dog Cedar is a sweetheart! We will make a point to return here soon! Can’t say enough.

  • Perfect hideaway in the woods of Maine, beautiful hiking in Acadia right up the street or can stay on site completely isolated and just enjoy the peace and quiet!! This was our second visit and loved it once again!!

    Katie2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was the most amazing Airbnb we have ever stayed at! It was so fun getting our own water from the well and visiting the animals. It really felt like we had escaped away from all societal problems at this property!

    Meadow2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sleeping in the woods and waking up with the sun was a great, enriching experience. I have had a wonderful time there, the forest is beautiful, the cabin is very cosy. I have met Candace and she kindly showed me around the farm where I met all her farm animals (emeus, pigs, a poney, a great Anatolian sheperd...). The park is not far from here and the setting is beautiful. I recommend.

    Clara Louise2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredibly memorable stay at this one-of-a-kind place marked by its artistic brilliance and natural beauty. Hope to return to the Howling Woods before too long!

    Samuel2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful experience in every regard, especially in clear and responsive communication with any questions — hope to visit again in the warmer months, but a lovely stay mid-winter as well.

    Taylor2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here! Candace was so friendly and quick with her responses. The farm is absolutely adorable too

  • Great views and perfect basecamp for exploring Acadia. The camp is very charming! We enjoyed taking the canoe out and doing some fishing on Echo Lake. Bill was very responsive to our needs. And the bed was very comfortable and cozy!!!

    Jennifer2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect getaway for two, although it sleeps five. Private, rustic, lovely lake view, clearly a place that has meant a lot to the family who owns it. Host was very responsive.

    Jeanie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views from the camp. The house is cozy and comfortable. Great location with lots of hiking nearby. Bill’s description is accurate and honest.

    Daniel2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • An outstanding location in the heart of Acadia and smack dab in the middle of everything...!

    DennyMike2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This location is delightful and an amazing venue from which to explore Acadia and the island. Everything is just a few minutes drive from this very centrally located cabin. Additionally, waking up to the pond every morning and grilling by the water every night is the best way to experience the parks!

    Stephen2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this cabin! The location was ideal for exploring Acadia, and the view of the lake and the porch just could not be beat. We also loved the canoe and the outdoor shower!

    Courtney2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cannot beat this place. The best views to wake up to and a perfect location for sunset every night. We loved our stay here and both agree it's our favorite place we've ever stayed. From the excellent fire pit to the floating dock and outside shower. Everything was great and functional enough for us to make our stay convenient and relaxing. It's very close to multiple trails in Acadia and multiple restaurants in the southeast harbor. Cannot recommend booking this place for your next trip if it's available.

  • I found this place charming and unique because of it's history. Some people may consider it a little cluttered. Marc was a host is exceptional. He goes out of his way to help your stay in Bar Harbor be enjoyable. I would stay at property again.

    Bob2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Marc has a wonderful place. Certainly eclectic, but Marc is incredibly hospitable and works to make your stay in Bar Harbor the best it can be. He offered us food as well as a map of the island to use during our stay. Wonderful airbnb and wonderful host.

    Jordan2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay that is local enough to walk around and explore town. And it is full of a unique character!

    Joseph2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay! My second time staying here and I'd stay again. Very friendly host. Lots of character in this house. Nice amenities.

    Michelle2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Marc was thoughtful enough to have breakfast fruits/muffins/cookies+++ for you in the morning and saved the trouble of going out to find a morning meal

    Abilash2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marc truly goes above and beyond with the details to make a stay special for guests. We felt so comfortable in his home (run of the house, full use of the kitchen and delicious complementary muffins, cookies and drinks for breakfast) His home is charming and cozy, perfect for a Maine vacation. It's a quick walk to into downtown Bar Harbor a mile or two from multiple park entrances to Acadia. Marc gave us park maps to take with us during the day and lots of tips on where to go and what to see. His massive collection of DVDs and books is also amazing- there's a book on everything Maine-related and anything else you could imagine, and he pulled out a bunch of movies we were interested in when we made the request. Everything about our stay was perfect :)

Bay Meadow Cottages, in the village of Salisbury Cove, offer a tranquil setting along the coast of Maine. Early 20th century visionaries donated the land that became Acadia National Park. Picnic tables and fire pits grace the lawn to provide a setting to enjoy your morning coffee or roast marshmallows while you reflect on your day's adventures. We are an easy 5 minutes from the entrance to Acadia National Park and just 10 minutes to Bar Harbor.
Take your kayaks or borrow our paddle boards and launch with ease right from our beautiful beach out front or book our sailing experience on Airbnb! Sail the waters of beautiful Frenchman Bay! Enjoy a view of Acadia National Park from the water & breathe in the salt air. Expect that we’ll be about 2 hours from the time we depart the docks until our return. www.airbnb.com/experiences/1505720
  • We had the best experience, which began with thoughtful emails in advance with everything we needed to know regarding check-in and area highlights, including the best lobster dinner spot. Spotlessly clean inside (great mattress!) and well-tended outside. There were a fire pit for summer evenings, and Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay. Tiny local postoffice disguised as a wee house, just across the road. The shower is tiny, but the water pressure is great. All the kitchen amenities you'd need to be comfortable. I would look forward to spending several relaxing days here, although regrettably, we only had the one night this trip. Close to town and the entrance to Acadia. Very peaceful at night as it's a short way off the main road. We had The Lighthouse cottage--unobstructed view, lovely porch and bbq, and all the cottages are situated with plenty of space between each. It has my whole-hearted recommendation for a quaint, charming visit!

    Kathy2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place to park and relax. Great access to Acadia. Quiet and peaceful and just rustic enough to be fun.

    Cindy2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and pleasant cottage

    Susan2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the little cottage. This is the perfect location for 2 people looking to head to Acadia National Park. The local coffee was a nice touch. Would stay here again.

    Michael2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and super clean cottage in the Bar Harbor area. We were just a 5 min drive from Acadia National Park. Owners are on sight daily if you need anything. Steve is very personable and Kirsten offered lots of tips on local food establishments before our trip which helped us plan. The cottages are small but certainly adequate and very quiet when we were there in early September. Free WIFI was nice to have although it was spotty in the evenings, but let’s be honest...get off your electronics and get outside and explore this beautiful harbor town! We would definitely stay here again and HIGHLY recommend this place!

    Jennifer2019-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I loved staying at the Bay Meadow cottages. Our cottage was so cute and cozy. I loved how easy and close it was to get to Acadia and downtown bar harbor. During our stay it was cold and rainy so we didn’t get to use the paddle boards that Steve and Kirsten have, but our room came with local coffee that kept us warm and cozy while we stayed in. We also could have went into the office/barn where they had a fire going and an area for guests to hangout. We only got to meet Kirsten and she was absolutely lovely, she provided us with so much information on things to do and a couple maps to help us figure out where it all was. Bar harbor was amazing and we fell in love with it there. When we return we will surely be staying at the cottages again!

    Heather2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • One of my favorite Airbnb spots! You couldn't ask for a better location - close to Acadia entrance, beautiful view, and short drive to Bar Harbor when you want some great food/shopping. Upscale cabin because the extras - coffee, unlimited towels, wine glasses/opener, access to ice, and exceptionally clean space. Steve & Kirsten were super friendly and helpful. This is a place to come back to over and over.

    Julie2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Kirsten were wonderful hosts and really nice people! Steve gave us really good suggestions on where to eat and what to see. The cabin was so clean and comfy and they thought of everything we might need. The towels were super soft and plentiful and the complimentary coffee was a really nice added touch! We will definitely be staying again if we can get back that way!

Charming cabin-inspired efficiency apartment on a quiet side street in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor. Just a stone's throw (literally) from Main St and a minute walk down the street to the ocean and Bar Harbor's famous Shore Path. High speed wifi, SmartTV with Netflix provided (HBO, Hulu, Amazon, etc. are available to use with your own account), communal washer/dryer just outside your door, large closet, hair dryer, assorted supplies, Bose bluetooth player, and snacks.
Snug, intimate space that's perfect for couples looking for something well-situated and well-appointed. Decorated with antique maps of Mount Desert Island, Maine, and many books about the history of this area. The pristine bathroom has luxurious towels, heated marble floor, and a spa-quality shower big enough for two. The communal yard has a fire pit and a lighted bocce court for you to enjoy. Just outside your door is a large deck with a gas bbq grill. There is no kitchen here, but you are provided with a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave.
Albert Meadow is a quaint street with quiet neighbors. Grab breakfast only a few minutes away at my favorite joint, or make yourself some coffee and walk a minute down the street to catch the sunrise over Frenchman Bay.
  • Amazing place in the heart of Bar Harbor. Mike is a fantastic host, and the space could not be more stylish, clean, and comfortable retreat from hectic life. Highly recommend this spot

    Claire2020-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem in downtown Bar Harbor- steps from everything, as charming as can be.

    Kate2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, clean, perfect little studio for our short stay to hike in Acadia. Michael was a great host and the place was so cutely decorated.

    Sarah2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first trip to Maine and it was an amazing experience thanks to this amazing air bnb! The location is ideal being only a short walk right to the downtown area of bar harbor where we were able to enjoy local food and drink! The space was vibrant, bright and warm and made us feel at home. Michael is an awesome host paying specific attention to details that ended up making the experience all that more enjoyable :)

    Leanne2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Michael’s place is beautiful! We loved our stay.

    Heather2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • It had been 12 years since I had been on the island. Came back to do some soul searching and treat this girl right and Mike's studio was the cherry on top. His style is where its at. And honestly its in the perfect location. I drove in on the later side, but with a bit of re reading the parking directions and walking around I found the parking spot and nestled in. March in Maine is cold and windy. His heating systems are divine for Maine weather even some yummy floor heating in the bathroom. And out of all the airbnb's that Ive stayed out Mike's shower temp and pressure is the bomb! Thank you for being awesome Mike!

    Susannah2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a perfect spot. Right in the middle of the action in downtown Bar Harbor but just tucked away enough to give it a very romantic feel. Also the heated tile floors in the bathroom were perfect on a cold night.

    Justin2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, stylish, close to everything you could want. I stayed here with a friend while visiting Acadia National Park. The location is fantastic, the bed is comfortable and the Airbnb is decorated so nicely. I would book it again in a heartbeat.

  • Briannas place is nestled into a rather quiet part of town. Access to most of MDI is about 15 minutes. The place is located above a 2 story garage and includes everythinga home would. Think of it as a well sorted out studio. Overall great price and great location.

  • You will not regret staying at this home! It is very stylish, comfortable, close to many restaurants and stores you will likely want to visit during your stay in Bar Harbor, and the host is incredible hospitable and conversational. I stayed in the Nautica room, which is large enough for two people. It contains a huge library of books and movies should you want to unwind in bed at night with something entertaining to do. Also, Marc may be around the house and is up for conversation as well as to make suggestions as to where to visit. Have fun!

    Adam2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Marc has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable, from local recommendations to homemade cookies and muffins galore.

    Brittany2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marc's place is so great! Absolutely loved it and he is definitely a super host! I could go on about his place for a long time - so comfortably, homey, clean, funky things, great location. Very welcoming. If you love books and just want a place to retreat to for a few days, a stay here would be a dream. Everything was spot on and would not hesitate for a second to stay again.

    Tiffany2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • My arrival schedule didn’t coincide with Marc’s, however, my checkin was flawless. We checked in with each other and he was considerate to have an envelope with my name on it to get into the house. I’ve seen some other reviews saying the house has a lot of stuff, which is true, but it makes for a real interesting experience. My nautica bedroom had super interesting books about the history of Bar Harbor. Despite being gone most of the day exploring it was nice to come “home” to lots of great resources. Marc provided homemade muffins and didn’t have us wash a thing. He truly made it feel like I was cared for. And an interesting man to talk to about so many things. Definitely worth keeping this option open.

  • Thousands of books and hundreds of dvds. I found the decor very comforting and cozy. My sister was a little overwhelmed, but enjoyed watching French Kiss—just one of the many dvds on offer. The cold breakfast was a nice touch. All in all a good Airbnb option with lots of character.

    Adriel2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Marty’s place is ideal as a base from which to explore Acadia National Park and Bar Harbour centre, being so close to both. We were warmly greeted and the Retreat is comfortable and well-equipped. We found the kitchen easy for cooking. The lighthouse theme throughout provides extra interest!

    Lynne2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The Lighthouse retreat was exactly what we were looking for - close to all the amenities in Bar Harbor, but felt like a cabin in the park. We were blown away by the thoughtful touches in the house!

    Megan2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly reccommend this property to folks visiting the Bar Harbor area. The property is clean, comfortable, and has everything required for a visit to the area. The property borders Acadia National Park and is close to several hiking, biking, and running trails. Shopping and several restaurants are also close-by. Marti and her family are exceptional hosts, are very knowledgeable about the area, and can provide very helpful tips to help you get the most out of your visit.

    David2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great place

    Robert2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! It was very clean and perfect for our little family. Highly recommend this place.

    Nancy2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our anniversary and we had a great time! Everything was exactly as advertised. The little sun room was cute and so welcoming every time we came back. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was stocked with coffee and basic cooking needs (olive oil, cooking spray, condiments), we had access to a washer and dryer (detergent and dryer sheets were provided). All of the little thoughtful details made our trip easier to enjoy. The location was perfect! We walked into town most afternoons and walked back some nights when it was dark already, and we felt perfectly safe (with a flashlight). We went hiking for several hours most days and everything was really easy to get to from this location. Trail maps and local guidebooks were all waiting for us on the kitchen table which helped us plan which hikes to do. If you want to see Acadia National Park, this is a great place to stay!

  • Steven and Deb work so hard to make their place welcoming. Their bed and breakfast was charming, clean and the breakfasts were outstanding!

    Mary2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful bed and breakfast located right in downtown Bar Harbor. The building and room was unique and had immaculate detail. The pub downstairs served delicious food and was very convenient upon arrival.

    Lexi2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a lovely stay! The owners and staff were so nice, the room was clean and adorable, and it was very closely located to all of the shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. The breakfast was great! Would recommend to all!

  • Very cool building. Loved it. Great pub downstairs.

    Kevin2019-08-07T00:00:00Z

  • The inn is very cozy, well located, and a good value for Bar Harbor. We had a wonderful meal in the pub the night we arrived and breakfast the next morning was a bonus. We highly suggest we recommend this place to anyone traveling to Bar Harbor if you want local hospitality that is personal and top notch!

  • Really cute place in a fantastic location close to town! We could and did walk every time we went into town, whether it was to get ice cream, get dinner and drinks, or do some shopping. One surprise we had was in the room with the two twin beds - it was small and set up so that the door couldn't be opened or closed without moving one of the beds, which would obviously disturb whoever was sleeping there. In addition, they had some amenities for cleaning (e.g., dish and laundry detergent) but were missing some other amenities that would have been nice to have, like extra toilet paper and more cooking basics (they only provided salt and pepper). But overall we still really enjoyed our stay! The owners were very responsive and reasonable!

    Noelle2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at the house and we plan to come back in the future. The location is great and the overall experience couldn't be better.

    Michael2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • I have been to Bar Harbor many times but this was my first stay at 12 Norris Ave. It was a great place to stay! Walking distance to downtown but away from the hustle and bustle. The cottage was very clean and welcoming, with a nice backyard to sit out in. It felt like home for the week.

    Katie2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was perfect for my family (2 adults and a 7-year-old). We loved being just enough on the edge of town that it wasn't crowded, but still near enough that we could walk everywhere.

    Julie2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was our family's first visit to Bar Harbor. We loved our time there! This cottage was the perfect place to relax after a long adventure filled day. Great location, easy access to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia park entrances. Walking distance to a couple park trails too. Another reviewer mentioned bringing a gate for the stairs - I am very glad we did this as the stairs are pretty steep. Our 5 year old had no issues on the stairs, but the 1.5 year old definitely needed to be kept off them. Our favorite walking destination each evening was Mt Desert Island Ice Cream!!

    Haessly2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay at Norris cottage. A home away from homes and we even got to take our dog. The kitchen is really well equipped. Lots of cleans fresh linen and towels, the location is fabulous. Close enough to Bar Harbour to walk in but fare enough away to escape the crowds. We had kids and not only is Norris cottage on a quiet street but it’s literally a stones through from a fenced in wading pool. Our kids loved it. Also really close to a playground. Excellent bargaining tools with small people. We loved our time here.

    Hannah2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • A great house in a fantastic location - easy walk to town AND on a quiet shady side street. Very clean upon arrival with a well equipped kitchen. Our family of four took advantage of the the shaded porch for morning and afternoon relaxation, BBQ’d several nights on the gas grill and used the on demand” tv features to watch movies at the end of a few hot days of Acadia Park activity. Highly recommend this house and Bar Harbor/Acadia!

    Wendy2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage was cozy, but had more than enough room for us and our two daughters (2y and 4mo). The master bedroom had plenty of space for a pack 'n play and suitcases. The stairs are narrow and steep, our 2yo navigated them well, but for smaller children you would definitely want to keep a watchful eye. The house is on a quiet road with woods across the street. The yard is small, but there is a grill, a table and enough room for our 2yo to run and play. The wading pool was around the block and a great depth for small children; there is no lifeguard. There is also a playground a few blocks away that is currently being updated. Across from the playground is an athletic complex with tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer and baseball fields, and a skate park. It was very convenient to walk into town, we didn't see the need to drive. It was also only a 5m drive to the entrance of Acadia National Park. Lexie was wonderful and very responsive to messages. We even locked ourselves out of the cottage at one point and the groundskeeper helped us get back in very quickly. We were very happy with our experience at Norris Cottage!

  • Had a great few days in Bar Harbor. The house is very nice/cozy/as advertised. Very hospitable and responsive hosts. We stayed in late March 2020 and there was hand sanitizer and extra rolls of toilet paper - what more can you ask for? Highly recommended.

    Tobias2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it! Thank you so much!

  • Comfortable and clean space for a weekend getaway! We enjoyed our time at Candice's place very much, would totally do it again.

    Ivana2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Candice’s place! Check in was super easy - Candice sent us detailed instructions a few days in advance. We had everything we needed and it was a great location for exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia. I hope we can come back sometime!

    Madeleine2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • This carriage house is so cute! It's the perfect size for a weekend getaway and very close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. It was very quiet as well and the hosts were great!

    Samantha2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great, peaceful spot with privacy, parking, and convenient location. Candice was accommodating, communicative, and helpful with anything needed. Cozy place to stay for a long weekend or longer!

    Alexandra2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for the second time visiting family for the holidays. A major selling point for us is the proximity to my family, but the property is also well situated between restaurants and shops in Bar Harbor and Ellsworth. The space is well laid out and very comfortable. Logistics were simple. Candice replied promptly when I needed to change the itinerary and even provided a crib and toys for my toddler. We would stay here again in the future.

    Heather2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was a great starting point for our trip to Acadia and Bar Harbor. It was very quick to reach any point within the park. The home itself was perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the island. While we only used the kitchen to reheat leftovers, it was well-stocked to make a meal as well. Would love to come back here next time I visit the area.

  • Excellent location, nice little home away from home. Everything was GREAT!!!

    Mary2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Hidden Treasure is appropriating named, that is exactly what it is. The location is extremely convenient. The apartment is well appointed, neat and extremely clean.

    Frank2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • My wife, toddler, and I had a wonderful stay at Hidden Treasure this past week. It was as good, or even better, than advertised. Clean and cozy location so centrally located. The kitchen, washer, and dryer were all really helpful for our trip. Hidden Treasure is literally two blocks or less than 5 minutes walk to the Village Green where the restaurants and bars are located, as well as the Island Explorer bus service. We can't overstate how convenient it is located to the main commercial strip and to the points in Acadia. When we had any questions or minor challenges, Sandy was extremely responsive and took care of things quickly. If you are a very tall (i.e. over 6 feet tall) the bathroom may feel tight, but we were fine. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to fellow travelers.

    Sanjay2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. It is just a few steps away from the shops and restaurants of bar harbor, but not noisy at night at all. It is a very quick and easy drive into Acadia NP. If you are taking the island explorer from the village green, that is only about 1 or 2 blocks away as well. The bed downstairs is only a full size so make sure to consider that, but you’ll be tired enough after a full day of hiking and exploring that it won’t matter. It was also great to have a washer/dryer in the Airbnb, it made packing-light a lot easier. I would definitely stay here again!

    Jerry2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This inlaw apartment is perfect for couples or small families. The house was spotless and in such a great location. Sandy is extremely nice and responds quickly to messages. My family looks forward to our next stay.

    Kelly2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy’s apartment was the perfect spot for our one week stay in Bar Harbor. The location is great and it is well equipped with everything you need. The kitchen is stocked with high quality pots, pans, and glasses. The space was great for two of us.  Walking distance to everything.  Sitting in the patio chairs in the evening after a day at Acadia was a nice way to end the day.  I would stay here again and highly recommend to others.

    Henry2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location steps from the village center with shops and restaurants. Sandy has created an oasis with all of the amenities. There were ample dishes and cookware so you could dine at home if in the mood. Comfortable furniture throughout. The best touch was the information board in the kitchen with maps and suggestions of things to do while in Bar Harbor. Great space with an even better host. I can not reccomend this place enough.

Quiet area with lots of nature. Very close to several hikes and lakes on this beautiful island.
  • Great place to Acadia national park. Angel is super friendly and helpful!

  • My family and I were totally swept away with Angel’s home. He thought of literally everything. My 14 years old son even played the game : name something in the kitchen and it will be there! The house was very spacious, beautifully decorated, absolutely spotless, it was quiet and warm. Close to everything on the Island. Truly outstanding experience, Thank you. Luda and family.

  • Thelmas' Garden cottage is in a great location, away from the crowds in Bar Harbor, but with very easy access to the park. The house is homey and full of thoughtful amenities--a great base to return to after hiking, biking, and swimming. The kitchen has all the equipment you need to prepare meals. But we highly recommend eating at least once at the fabulous Burnt Tree restaurant next door, run by the owner of the cottage. It was a great introduction to Acadia.

The cottage features high ceilings and an open floor plan, with a wonderful view of lush woods. The walls are decorated with original artwork by the owner. The location is central to the island, situated just outside the village of Somesville, within 15 minutes of Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor by car. Hiking and swimming just 5 minutes away by car. Note: State Mandate of a 14 day quarantine for out of state guests. By the month only June/July 2020.
Designed by the owner in 2016, along with the main house some 100 feet away. It is a clean, modern space with a view overlooking lush woods.
The area is quiet off a private road with about 15 homes in all. The area is removed yet, central to all Mount Desert Island has to offer.
  • Scott and Amy are warm and welcoming and the Arthaus is a perfect Acadia getaway. The cottage is very clean, comfortable, and centrally located with easy access to both sides of the island. Thoughtful touches (art, wine, flowers, trail mix) and a beautiful, quiet space complement the lovely natural surroundings.

    Lydia2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cute, clean, modern cabin with everything we needed and all the updates we wanted. Close enough to see the local sights, but secluded enough to get the R&R and reconnection time needed. It smelled like strawberry pine right outside the cabin :)

    Adrienne2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Scott was a great host! Maine faced some inclement weather prior to our trip which resulted in the cottage losing power and he couldn’t have handled it better! He keep us up to date along the way and luckily the power came back on and didn’t impact our trip. The cottage is the perfect place to stay if visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia. It was quiet, clean and a great place to unwind after a long day of exploring.

    Becca2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean, quiet and great access to Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor.

  • Couldn’t have asked for a better home base for our trip to Acadia! We will be back!

    Laura2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Arthaus was exactly as described and pictured. It was perfect for our getaway and had every amenity that we needed. The washer and dryer was much appreciated, as was the coffee. 😊It was exceptionally clean which is important to me. The location was perfect...far enough away from crowds but just a short drive from nearly everything we wanted to do. Scott and Amy are great hosts. Prompt replies and they offered great suggestions for food and hikes. I'm not a huge seafood lover but the lobster roll at Thurston's lobster pound was really good. The Bald Peak and Parkman Mountain hike was exceptionally beautiful. I have not one complaint about the house, location or hosts. If you are looking for a quiet, clean cottage while staying near Acadia and Bar Harbor, I would highly recommend staying at the Arthaus!

    Jaime2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • The Arthaus had everything we needed for an extended weekend of adventuring in Acadia National Park. The cottage is super cozy and thoughtfully adorned. It’s convenient location made getting to all corners of the island super simple. The evergreen forest right outside the back porch kept us connected to the natural beauty of the island even after coming inside from a long day in the woods. Deer and birds greeted us each morning, and the many windows providing exceptional natural lighting. It was a truly wonderful escape!

    David2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Arthaus! I’ve been to MDI many times (typically stay in Northeast Harbor). This location was more central in the sense that you could hit anyplace on the island in around 20 minutes. Scott was super responsive; we had an easy and tranquil experience. Love having the privacy rather than sharing walls with strangers (ie an inn). Recommend! Thanks Scott; we will return!

We are the Black Friar Inn and Pub, this is room 3. It has a queen size bed with a private bathroom. We are a B&B so breakfast is included with your stay. Our in town location gives our guests a three minute walk to the harbor and downtown Bar Harbor.
  • Perfect location to explore Bar Harbor (walking distance) and Acadia National Park. We stayed in room 3 and it was the perfect amount of space for me and my husband. It was so convenient to be on top of a bar and pub for easy food option and to grab a drink before bed. Was worried there might be noise from the pub in our room but it was so quiet! We didn’t get to enjoy the included breakfast as we left early in the morning to spend time in Acadia. Definitely recommend.

    Amy2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • The Black Friar Inn is in an excellent location for Acadia National Park access. We were inside the park in less than 5 minutes! You definitely notice the age/history of the building (adds to the charm), but it is incredibly clean and thoughtfully taken care of. The quality of the bath towels alone was such a nice surprise! We enjoyed our included breakfasts, which were also carefully prepared and delicious! We loved that they sourced ingredients locally, and we got to try some of Maine's famous blueberries in pancake form :).

    Morgan2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location and the food was terrific!

    Matthew2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • You can't go wrong with the Black Friar: comfortable, relaxed, accommodating

    Emily2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Steven and Deborah's place is really awesome; it's conveniently located (about a 7-minute walk from Main Street Bar Harbor), has a parking spot, and also a built-in pub (with food). The food is quite tasty, and features an included breakfast with many options as well as lunch and dinner (not included); Steven and Deborah are accommodating about substitutions and suggestions about the menu too! The room we stayed in had a queen bed that was really comfortable, clean showers and facilities. The decor was also really well-thought-out and made from salvaged parts of mansions that burnt down in the better part of the 40s. The entire place had every vibe of a bed and breakfast, and my girlfriend and I loved it a lot. Check-in was easy, and Steven actually waited up for us due to an airplane mishap involving stuck luggage; check-out was similarly easy, and all we had to do was drop the keys in a basket, and off we went. The check-out time is at 10, a little earlier than expected, but for us, that worked out perfectly as we needed an early start anyway. As such, we did not ask for any extensions (I imagine they are accommodating for extenuating circumstances, however. ), if you require this, it is perhaps good to confirm this prior.

  • This cottage was perfect ! Ideal location within a super short walk of hiking trails. Beautifully appointed living spaces and well appointed kitchen . Was grateful to find a variety of spices to cook with , an unexpected surprise. Thanks again Ann and John for your wonderful hospitality!

    Kim2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Ann’s cottage was so quaint and cute. It was a short trip, but I’m so happy I chose to stay here! Everything was so clean and Ann was a fantastic host! I can’t wait to come back over the summer and stay here again!

    Nicole2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space. Great hosts, great location, just great. I can't wait to come back.

  • What a wonderful, perfectly-situated escape in Acadia! Phenomenal hospitality, great space, everything we needed!

    Kate2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The sweet cottage is a lovely home to stay in while visiting the island. I love how neat and clean it is and its proximity to hiking trails, the park and downtown. Highly recommend!

    Christi2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. Sparkling clean. Cleaner than my own home. Felt more like staying at family’s house than a stranger’s place. Cozy, cute. We stayed in the winter, so everything is closed... but that didn’t stop us from cooking up a storm, exploring, and relaxing away from it all. Can’t wait to return.

    Shallon2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was conveniently located and quite ideal for a winter getaway! Ann was so helpful in giving us tips as to what things would be open in the winter and left guidebooks and maps in the cottage for us to peruse to plan our daily adventures. The cottage was extremely clean and well stocked and check in/out was a breeze!

The Farm By The Sea is a place to unwind and take in some nature. Private Beach. Kayakers dream. The Farm sits on 5 acres on the ocean in Trenton. A short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. You may enjoy dipping your toes at the oceans edge or you may like to just watch the garden grow. The apartment is self sufficient with private bathroom and entrance. We would want you to know that we may be up early mornings along with the chickens so early risers would do best here.
We are an active farm. We currently have chickens and baby cows. Two little piggies. Turkeys and ducks. From our beach front you can explore endless tidal pools and at low tide even walk across the ocean floor to Alley Island. Bring some water shoes or extra boots for this part of the adventure.
We are a very quiet neighborhood with very few houses and none that you can really see or hear. Our spot is all about waterfront and our beautiful farm setting. You may see us picking from the garden or feeding animals. The view at the waters edge is amazing and ever changing with the tides.
  • We stayed 6-10 November as part of our New England road trip honeymoon. The weather was cold but the accommodation was very warm and cosy. The kitchen facilities were ideal as a lot of the local restaurants had closed for the season. We loved the rural setting and feeding/ petting the animals (pigs, turkeys, chickens, cows, ducks) and waking up to the sound of the cows! The location is just beautiful - with a short walk down the plot, past the duck pond and pig pen to a gorgeous rocky beach. Watching sunset down by the water was spectacular. It’s a very quiet and peaceful location and just a 25 min drive from Bar Harbour and all the hikes and scenery in Acadia National Park. Perfect base for exploring this part of Maine. Barbara and Mark were very kind and helpful. They left us to it, but were always on hand if we needed anything. Thanks again for a wonderful and memorable stay!

    Stefan2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Mark and Barbara have a quaint home tucked away from it all. We enjoyed the peaceful view of the water and terrain from their own private land, and found being on the farm particularly charming. These are both reasons we picked the home and it did not disappoint!

    Kristin2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great property to relax and unwind. The room is really nice and has everything you need. Barbara and Mark were very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

    Kaitlin2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Barbara and Mark's place. Especially, my kid had a great time with farm animals and the morning strolls to the beach were a bliss :)

  • We had such a wonderful time on Mt Desert Island and in Acadia National Park. It was so nice to come back to our lovely guest suite by the sea. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful spot!

    Kristin2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place

    Jackie2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my boyfriend for our birthdays this week! Had the most amazing time! The space is beautiful and clean! The farm is amazing to be on. We would wake up and go to the water every morning and say hi to the animals. Mark showed us around when we arrived. The animals love him it's so sweet to watch. We will definitely be back soon! I can't imagine anywhere better to stay in this area! Great hikes just a short ride away, beautiful starry skies, great food nearby! (check out mothers kitchen & charlottes legendary lobster!)

    Daniella2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first Airbnb stay ever and Mark and Barbara really set the bar! They were very friendly, even invited us over for fresh lobster they caught that day! The room was perfect. Great views of the bay and very comfortable. They have a hammock by the water which we took advantage of a couple times. During the day we hiked Acadia national park and explored Bar Harbor. it was a peaceful location to come back to after a long day :).

  • Since there is poor cell phone service on the Island, I really need good wifi, and I wasn't disappointed. The wifi worked perfectly the whole time I stayed at spruce nest.

  • Spruce Nest is very nice and comfortable! Location is very convenient, near Bar Harbor downtown and Acadia National Park. JC and Stacy were very helpful and accommodating! I’m excited to stay again!

  • Jc’s place was perfect for my trip to Acadia with my girlfriend. He was a great host and the guesthouse is in an awesome central location to all of the attractions the island has to offer. We loved the view from the back porch and the robes/slippers are a cool bonus. We would definitely come back again!!

  • Beautiful space close to everything in Bar Harbor. A must stay!

    Emma2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • JC's place was the perfect spot for any adventure on Mount Desert Island. 15 minutes from Bar Harbor, the two Acadia Visitor Centers, Cadillac Mountain hiking, and even the other harbors around the island. You can be so close to it all, but be in a great location to avoid most of the traffic and congested spots. Plus JC's place was super clean and cozy for a 1-2 person getaway. Highly recommend for any level of adventurer!

Step inside and admire the rugged cedar and hemlock beams that reach high to the pine board ceiling in the living area. Large windows and a full-size patio door look out over ancient apple trees and a small meadow were white-tailed deer and snowshoe hares stop by. Whip o' wills and woodcock can be heard at dusk and frequently the call of coyotes reaches up from the nearby stream valley. At night the stars shine brighter than anywhere else on the East Coast. Our "Tribal Council" area sports an Adirondak Leanto, fire pit with wood, running water and a picnic table along our 400-foot nature trail. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchenette that includes a two-burner gas cooktop, microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, full-size refridgerator/freezer, compact sink, dishes, glasses, mugs, utensils, pots and pans. Overhead there is a reading loft. The cottage is also stocked with field guides, maps, books and videos about the area's natural and human history. The cottage has free wireless broadband internet, a 14-inch LCD TV, with 200 cable channels and a DVD and VCR player. There are coloring books and videos for children. The Carriage House Cottage at Westard Farm comes fully furnished with everything you need for a relaxing, memorable stay. Our central location is perfect for launching your hiking, biking, wildlife watching or paddling trips. The cottage is located approximately 150 feet from the main private residence on land that was once a working dairy farm. There is an unattached garage in between. The clean, airy cabin includes a living room with gas log fireplace, a futon sofa/bed, chairs and a dining table and TV. The ground floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and bureau, hanging space for clothes, as well as a ceiling fan. Although there is no AC it often cools off quickly at night, especially on an island. There is also a ceiling fan in the living area and standing and portable fans as well. The bathroom has a vanity sink, toliet and shower with plenty of hot water and an electric heater. One set of linens and towels are provided for the week. For your outdoor adventures there's a daypack, umbrella, hiking sticks, portable cooler and headlamp. The Carriage House Cottage is in a rural area with widely-spaced single-family homes. It is just a mile from spectacular Eagle Lake and a main entrance to Acadia's motor-free carriage road network. Wildlife and birds abound. Woods abutting two sides of the property are designated forever wild by an easement held by Acadia National Park.
  • Comfortable cabin and cozy cabin with great location to Acadia Park and Bar Harbor.

  • The perfect place to visit acadia national park!

    Stéphanie2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful week at Earl and Roxie's cottage. It was an ideally-located home base for getting to all parts of the island, including the Quietside, where the hiking was excellent. Earl and Roxie have included many thoughtful touches that make the cottage feel like a home-away-from-home, from a lobster pot, headlamp, and grocery bags, to extra towels. The place was so comfortable that we were hoping that a rainy day would give us an excuse to stay in, but alas, the MDI weather was picture-perfect all week! We'll be back!

    Su-Jen2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was more than we expected. Just perfect. Earl and Roxie are wonderful hosts and truly love sharing their place and knowledge of Acadia with others. You won't be disappointed-we can't wait to visit again. Seems like the week flew by.

    Rhonda2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend a stay at Earl’s place. It had everything we wanted, and some things we didn’t realize we needed. Very cozy living space, and very clean. Earl’s personal touch and advice for using the canoe were wonderful. Wish we could have stayed another week!

    Brian2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home, super clean, neat& cozy. Great hosts! Perfect for my wife and me! Very close to town and all park related trips!

    Michael2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Earls cabin. Earl and Roxie are very friendly, warm and helpful. Don’t hesitate to book Earls cabin because you won’t regret it. It is nearby great hiking spots and Bar Harbor. We enjoyed it so much!

    Emilie2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Earl and Roxie are great hosts! Their proximity to Acadia alone is reason enough to book... 10 minutes. Even though the carriage house is on their property it has been done in such a way that there is plenty of privacy. The place is clean, charming and rustic but not too rustic! It is truly an oasis in Bar Harbor and we have every intention of returning.

This cozy year round house is in town Bar Harbor with dramatic views of Frenchman Bay. Devon is walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and bars. Sleeps 4 and has a garage for car and bike storage. We offer long weekends off-season and whole weeks from June to October. In 2020 we have many updates to this lovely home. A great feature is access to the school playground directly across the street. Young families really enjoy this location.
We have for all guests the guide book that we publish called A Walk in the Park and an island map in house for them to use.
We live directly across the street from the elementary school which has a great field, playground, and a large mostly unused parking are to skate or ride bikes on.
  • Great value and amazing hosts in the heart of Bar Harbor! They helped us with our questions and were really great at communications. We can’t wait to come back!

  • Beautiful apartment of impeccable cleanliness. Lots of space inside and the garage is very convenient for storage. Within walking distance of all the attractions of Bar Harbor and very well located on the island to enjoy Acadia Park. We loved our stay, perfect for a family with young children

    Noémie2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location - about a 5-minute walk into downtown Bar Harbor. Big open floor plan with sleeping quarters upstairs. Garage parking!

    Jordan2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great value and amazing location to downtown Bar Harbor and access to Acadia NP! Nina was very nice and offered great suggestions. My only warning would be to know that the room with the twin beds is attached to the other bedroom by French glass doors. This could become an issue for access purposes/bathroom use. We stayed with another couple and had to walk through their bedroom which created a lack of privacy. Well worth the value for the home and loved the area!

    Alex2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • Devon Cottage is a great place for a family to stay. We liked having the smaller bedroom right off the main bedroom. While it’s not right in town, we made it there with ease and allowed us to venture into Acadia quickly as well.

    Erica2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect accomodations for a first-time family vacation in Bar Harbor. Our host had everything waiting for us when we arrived. The cottage is a very short walk from the center of downtown Bar Harbor, and since parking can be tricky downtown, walking is best. It's also a few hundred yards from the Cadillac Mountain entrance to Acadia National Park. The cottage is stocked with essentials like toilet paper, dish soap, towels, and laundry facilities. The bathroom is on the main floor and the bedrooms are on the second floor. The main bedroom has an extremely comfortable king bed. The second room has two twin beds, so it's the perfect setup for a family of 4. This was our first experience with an Airbnb and we were extremely happy. I would recommend the Devon Cottage to anyone traveling to Bar Harbor.

    Emily2019-06-21T00:00:00Z

  • Everything was spotless! Sparking clean is an understatement. This place was pulled right from the Ikea display floor and dropped in one of the most primo spots of Acadia National Park. Would love to stay here again next time my wife and I get a chance to get to Bar Harbor.

  • Our stay at The Nest was fantastic. It was ridiculously close to all the things we wanted to do in Acadia and is minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. The Nest is as clean as can be with a comfy bed and all the amenities we needed. Would stay again for sure.

  • We had a wonderful time at Terri and Steve’s. The house was spotless and had everything we needed, and it was in the perfect location for hiking and spending time in Bar Harbor. Terri was incredibly responsive and helpful from start to finish. Would highly recommend to others!

    Melissa2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • I was so happy to have found a place to stay that was off the beaten path. Even though it was only 5-7 minutes from the town of Bar Harbor, it felt very remote and private and peaceful. Otter cliffs is a beautiful area of Arcadia. Staying here was a nice central location to visiting the many locations of Arcadia national park. It seemed as it every place that we wanted to go was located in a short distance. Even though Terri’s place is very close to the one way loop road, there is still a very convenient way to get to Nar Harbor via Route 3. I would definitely stay here again. Terri and Stephen were great hosts!

    Janet2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect spot, quick drive into Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park! Terri was quick to respond and offer tips on what to do next. Beautiful and new apartment with a comfy bed and big rooms. Spotlessly clean kitchen with lots of amenities. Highly recommendable to all guests.

    Jane2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Terri & Stephen's "Nest" is truly perfect for a couple's vacation in the Bar Harbor area. The apartment addition to their home is clean, bright and modern. Not only are the accommodations lovely, but the location is outstanding! Acadia National Park is a short walk from their place where you can experience spectacular ocean vistas at Otter Cliffs or pick up an easy hiking trail along shoreline. A simple 10-15 minute car ride takes you into the busy town where there's an endless variety of shops, restaurants and activities. We had fun in town but were always happy to get back to the quiet beauty and comfort of the "Nest" Terri is easy to communicate with; always responsive and informative. A very memorable stay in Maine!

    Shawn2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • As travelers arriving to Maine by airplane, Darcy’s camping equipment allowed us to enjoy Acadia without the stress of traveling with our gear. She had so many extras that we were most comfortable and also provided recommendations that helped us clue in to all the best spots.

    Nisha2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is the easiest way to camp when you come to Maine! It was all in there. Also, you should definitely camp when you come to Maine :)

    Traci2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I took a trip to Acadia and renting gear from Darcy was a lifesaver. She thinks of everything you could possibly need and more. Mattresses? Bug spray? Headlamps? Can opener? Garbage bags? Dish soap? All in the kit. Pickup/drop off was so easy and everything was clean & in great condition. Excellent experience!

    Rita2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Darcy made our trip to Acadia National Park possible plus she gave us so many helpful hints for camping and for what to do once at the park. The kit she supplied us with had everything you could possibly want when camping, the air mattresses made our sleep great and the tent was huge! Plus, we got to meet Darcy and she was very sweet and friendly :)

    Katherine2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you very much Darcy! Your equipment is really ideal for a few days in Acadia! Thank you for your advice on campgrounds! top

  • Marc's cottage was a perfect stay for my New Year's Trip to Bar Harbor. It is minutes from Acadia National Park. The place is charming and has a lot to offer. Marc was so hospitable to me, even offering me a homemade muffin in the morning. It was a special treat!

Adorable & Affordable! Kyle's Cottage provides the perfect mix of value and comfort for today's budget-minded yet savvy traveler. It sleeps 5 comfortably & features bright spaces, new furnishings, & many amenities not typically found in low-budget accommodations-- all the while being situated in the heart of Mount Desert Island w/Acadia National Park and the villages of Bar Hbr, NE Hbr and SW Hbr virtually at your door. Pets are welcome for a small fee and w/written permission from the owner.
Kyle's Cottage offers sleeping for 5. Two bedrooms offer a queen bed each, and there's a pass-through room with a single-size daybed. The large kitchen features a gas range & oven, a large refrigerator and microwave. The kitchen has a great variety of pots, pans, dishes, etc., and an assortment of spices. There's seating for up to 5 in the adjacent dining area. The living room makes a cozy spot to settle at the end of a busy day. There you'll find a flat screen, cable-enhanced tv. Wireless Internet is provided, too. There's a washer & dryer in the laundry area off the full bath. There are window fans, card and board games for every age, and puzzles, too. Bed, kitchen and bath linens are provided, as are complimentary paper goods-- at least enough to get you started for certain. Outside on the deck there's a small gas grill and built-in seating. Note that the deck is shared by the guest cottage, which we call Aunt Betty's. It's also available to rent.
Kyle's Cottage is within walking distance of a local mom-n-pop grocery store, ice cream stand, bank, local brewery, bbq restaurant, children's playground and two Island Explorer (free) bus stops. Just a short drive to Acadia National Park's Carriage Trail entrance to the Park, also ANPs Echo Lake. Downtown Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor and Southwest Harbor are minutes by car, too.
  • We loved the space. Table to use computers or eat. Comfy couches and nice t.v. Big kitchen. Great location for us, traveling to Park, north, and west. As other's have stated there is road noise all day and night. The main bedroom had no curtains or shades on big window, so headlights shine in the room. Don't know if that was temporary. Carol was prompt to answer any questions we had, and we never told her about the lack of curtains so it wasn't her fault. We would stay there again.

    Richard2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Carol’s place was a great spot to relax after a busy day exploring. Our group enjoyed the central location that made sightseeing easy. We appreciated the helpful directions on finding the cottage. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to stay away from the crowds.

    Amy2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Place was what we expected and needed. Short drive to Acadia and surrounding towns. Great place to crash after a long day of going.

    Scott2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's Cottage is cozy and convenient to Acadia National Park. Easy place to unwind after a day of exploring.

    Karen2019-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin. Everything in Acadia was very accessible from this location. Highly recommended.

    Jonathan2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying here! Despite uncooperative weather, the hosts suggestions about local activities and restaurants were very helpful. The place is cozy, clean, and perfect for a quick Bar Harbor getaway. Overall would highly recommend!

    Tate2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Carol's place is in a great location that allows easy access to Bar Harbor or venturing out to explore either side of the island.

    Justin2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's cottage is a great place to stay. The kitchen is fully stocked - including coffee. The master bed was very comfy. It's a short drive to hiking trails. Carol was a gracious host. She answered our questions promptly and made great recommendations. We would definitely return.

The Chickadee Suite is one mile from Acadia National Park. It is a private Suite with it's own private entrance. The address of the suite is 240 State Highway 3 Bar Harbor Maine 04609.
The Chickadee Suite is air-conditioned and has full-size appliances in the kitchen, a washer/dryer in the bathroom, a king-size bed in the bedroom, a double-size sofa bed in the living area and a private deck accessed through the back door.
Our neighborhood is no more than five minutes from the main entrance to the National park and about ten minutes to Bar Harbor. Homes are not close to each other like they are in Bar Harbor. There are several hundred feet between homes and plenty of trees for screening. It is a very private location.
  • Well-located and cozy apartment that was perfect for our visit to Acadia. The hosts are very nice and responsive and we would stay here again!

    Austin2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to spend 2 nights, over Thanksgiving! It is very quiet, even though it is on Rte 3. There are large trees around the house: a pine outside the bedroom window, a spruce near the driveway, trees in the back and side yards. There is a pond with ducks and geese. It must be lovely when the perennial flower beds are in bloom! The kitchen had everything you might need to cook meals...stainless steel pots, a dish drainer to let the dishes dry (things that other B & B's we've stayed in didn't have), etc. The fridge was full size and was empty...so if you want mayonnaise or jam, etc. bring your own. A guide to the carriage roads came in very handy because we left ours at home. Lots of reading material about Bar Harbor could be useful, too. I would say this is a perfect place to stay, off season especially!

    Rita2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Staying so close to the park allowed us to really come and go and fully explore the area. The bed was very comfortable after a long day of hiking. The road traffic can be a little noisy but I didn’t notice it when the heat was on at night. The space would probably be cramped for more than two people, but it was perfect for us.

    Sharon2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding property. Very Downeast Maine and delightful. The suite size was comfortable and extremely neat and clean. Having the King Bed was a definite plus! Looking forward to staying at the Chickadee come spring!

    Art2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We were so impressed with our stay at Donna and Kevin's Chickadee Suite! This space was perfect for my husband and I, who were in Acadia celebrating our first wedding anniversary. The location was close to downtown Bar Harbor, and the drives to sight-see were also very manageable. The space itself was SO clean, inviting, and comfortable. Everything we could possibly need for a weekend getaway was available to us. Donna and Kevin were so friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay go smoothly. I highly recommend their suite, and would love to stay there again if we return to Bar Harbor!

    Hayley2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • We ate in most nights as this was a very cozy place to stay and it had everything you needed to enjoy your meal. Close to Bar Harbor, but far enough away to feel removed from the crush of tourists.

    Sue2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Chickadee Suite makes a perfect home base for days spend in Acadia. Being a little out from Bar Harbor, the quiet was appreciated after spending long days hiking the park trails. The amenities were plentiful with the washer/dryer being especially useful. Kevin and Donna have created a clean and cozy space from which you can explore all Mt Desert Island has to offer.

    Susan2019-10-09T00:00:00Z

Newly built one-bedroom garage apartment. Like living in a treehouse. On the second level above the garage, open kitchen/living room onto deck, comfortable bedroom, large bathroom with shower and washer/dryer. Kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, gas stove/oven, toaster, and coffee maker. Very comfortable for two. Your dog is welcome, but we request that you plan to have your dog with you. We would prefer that you don't leave your dog unattended in the apartment.
Silent. On a 5-acre parcel adjacent to Acadia National Park. Literally twenty-feet from the undeveloped part of Acadia. Ten miles to downtown Bar Harbor, closer to Acadia Park entrances for hiking, biking, kayaking, and other adventures.
We are at the dead-end of a dirt road. Super private, quiet, and, yes, tranquil.
  • We really enjoyed our stay here-- the apartment is stylish and super clean, the area is beautiful, and Andrea left us lots of helpful tips on places to visit. Definitely recommend!

    Dee2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Andrea's place. Tranquil and in a lovely forested location, and close to hiking in Acadia which we enjoyed. Immaculately clean and very comfortable.

    Bill2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, impeccably clean, very quiet & secluded in a nice way. Also included a full kitchen & washer/dryer! Andrea was super easy to communicate with & I heartily recommend this place for anyone visiting Bar Harbor!

  • Great place to see the stars!

    Dae2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lynn and Andrea’s place was amazing! It was secluded enough to feel like a real retreat but close enough to town. The proximity to Acadia is incredible. Make sure you look up—the stars are a sight to see. Can’t recommend this place enough!

    Daniel2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea's place was a perfect place to stay for a trip to MDI and Acadia! The property sits right next to the park border and felt wonderfully peaceful and quiet. The apt was sparkling clean, the bed was comfy cozy, and the kitchen included amenities such as pots and pans, a coffee maker, a dishwasher, and some oils and spices. Andrea thoughtfully includes local tips and lots of books of hikes and attractions around the area, as well as board games to enjoy on night spent in! All in all a wonderful stay.

Our 1847 farmhouse is centrally located on Mt.Desert Island. A private entrance leads to an upstairs, sunlit, suite with a queen bedroom, living room with futon, private bath, and kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffeemaker. The house and stable, which once served the livery needs of Mt. Desert, are located on one of the major island roads. Acadia NP, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and the 'Quiet Side' of MDI are all close by, but be prepared for summer traffic.
This newly renovated suite is tucked under the exposed, hand hewn beams of this 1847 Cape. Bands of the original timber-framing have been left exposed; wide plank floors have been newly refinished. The bathroom and kitchenette are brand new. The suite is bright, well-lit, and warmly and comfortably furnished. Wifi is available.
We are located in the little commercial hub of Town Hill, which was an old farming hub in days gone by. We have the original livery stable on our property. Next door is the old school house that is now the Community Center, Volunteer fire department, playground and ball field.
  • Jane’s place is absolutely beautiful! Great hospitality and info for the are! The only excusable reason to not stay here is that Janes is already booked or your group is too large (if the latter is the case, find your friends another place and stay with Jane!) if you do stay, ask Jane how she ended up in Maine. She has a great story! Highly recommend this place! We plan to stay here when we come back to Maine.

    Sarah2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • From arrival to departure, our four night stay was exceptional! Jane & Peter are loving, caring people who welcome you as a visitor & you leave feeling like part of their family. Thoughtful touches: : a set of maps that detail hiking trails from easy to difficult.... thank you Peter!! : goodies.... yoghurt, granola, bread/butter, peanut butter/jelly, milk, oj, granola bars, bananas & apples from their tree. : interesting books about decor, architecture, culture, the arts etc. : comfortable furnishings & cozy lap blankets to wrap up in while enjoying your coffee or tea. Jane greeted us as we drove up (parking was easy).... gave us a tour of our place.... shared maps of the area, gave us tips on sights to see & places to eat.... AND, showed us where (& how) to use the washer/dryer. After venturing into Bar Harbor, we welcomed the “quiet of Town Hill” & our return to Jane & Peter’s knowing a warm shower, comfortable beds & a clean, cozy living space were waiting. The Town Hill Market across the road (be careful crossing.... traffic can be heavy) is an “added value” to your stay. You can find most everything you’d need.... the sandwiches, cookies and blueberry soda were great picnic options! And the staff is so friendly! You’ll be sorry if you miss staying with Jane & Peter.

    Christine2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to feel at home...THIS IS THE PLACE for you!! My husband and I absolutely loved staying here. Very close to Acadia National Park. The hosts are warm, inviting, thoughtful and make you feel right at home. It had all of the amenities, plus extra touches of coffee, peanut butter and fresh (yummy bread), yogurt, granola, bars, to have the morning before heading out to explore Acadia. The tips and hiking maps (EXCEPTIONAL) we received upon check-in allowed us to make the most of our time which was absolutely wonderful. Their location is off a busy road (can hear traffic in the early morning) but made it close to everything and away from the congestion of Bar Harbor. We had a great time and having this lovely place to stay really made a big difference and would 100% stay here again!

    Lindsy2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • As our first time renting through AirBnB, we honestly weren’t sure what to expect. This experience has set a high bar. Jane and her husband greeted us at check-in and gave us local tips to enjoy the area. The loft itself was clean and homey. Unexpectedly, our hosts had stocked the kitchenette with snacks and beverages. What a treat! Although located on a busy intersection, we found the location ideal. A nice escape from the congestion of Bar Harbor yet just a short drive away. Situated at the top of the island, access to either lobe of the island as well as the mainland is quick and easy. I would absolutely recommend this lovely place!

    Chandra2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent experience. The loft is unique and rustic, but still offers all the comforts and amenities of a modern hotel. The owners live downstairs, but you really wouldn't know it. The room was very quiet. Paul offered us detailed maps of Acadia with a list of recommended hikes. The room had a nice selection of snacks and beverages. Short drive to Bar Harbor, but away from all the congestion.

    Thomas2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Paul’s apartment suite was perfect for our Acadia NP trip. It was clean, very cozy, and had all the amenities we needed for our trip. They provided some coffee & food which was more than we expected and very much appreciated. We were so thankful for their guide to hiking and exploring Acadia NP-I’m certain it made our trip exceptional. We also loved walking across the street to grab breakfast sandwiches, snacks, and wine at the local corner store. It is on a main road with fast flowing traffic however we did not hear this with our fan on since the bedroom is in the back again. We definitely plan to stay here again.

    Hayley2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding accommodations & a great location. The little extra touches shows how much they care.

    Ciro2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little apartment. Very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Out of the busy downtown Bar harbor area but close enough to get to the park and other activities. Jane and Paul were very friendly and helpful with suggestions and maps. Can’t wait to return.

  • The house is exactly as the pictures show, if not better. There are 3 bedrooms but 2 extra little nooks for some private space, a closed in porch, a nice living room, fairly large kitchen and 4-6 person dining table. We used the kitchen every day- the dishwasher was great to have. The house felt very spacious for all 6 of us and had ample parking for all 3 cars. My favorite thing about the house is the location to its own private beach just steps away from the back porch. The beach is covered with shells. We even spotted some lion head jellyfish on the shore. The house is not in the main Bar Harbor town but is about a 12-15 drive, but there is Uber in Bar Harbor for a night out. We were pleasantly surprised you this. We loved this place, I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a place big enough for family, want something charming and if you do not need to be in the middle of the town.

    Cam2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great space that is close to Bar Harbour and Acadia National Park. Its tucked back off of the road and has great beach access. It was perfect for our family of 5.

    Brian2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • We reserved the cottage nearly a year in advance, not knowing for certain how the space would work for us, a newly retired couple with 2 adult children & their partners. We couldn't have been more pleased with the location and layout. We were glad to be a short way aways from busy Bar Harbor, but made several trips to town to "take in the sights" and buy groceries. The nearby "Sweet Pea" and C-Ray restaurants were great. The cottage sleeping rooms provided adequate privacy, and two small sitting rooms allowed those who wanted "alone" time to work, read, nap or simply relax. The kitchen is well equipped and we enjoyed fixing meals together. The washer/dryer and dishwasher were put to good use during our 1 week stay. We'll definitely try and stay here in the future if we return to Mount Desert Island & Acadia National Park.

  • I speak for my family and friends by saying we could not have been more pleased with our stay at the Vacasa house in Bar Harbor, Maine. First, the location was everything we wanted and more. Our main priority was to visit Acadia National Park and it was a very quick 10 minute drive to the entrance. We made various trips to Acadia during our stay. While at the house we had a great time as well. The layout was perfect and very spacious giving everyone the option of socializing or having some alone time. The back yard was the real treat thanks to the newly installed deck/stairs leading down to the bay. We were able to explore with our little ones during low tide and this one of the highlights of their trip. The Vacasa customer service is also worth praising. Upon our arrival we forgot to take a screenshot of our check-in info and had no internet service to retrieve it. I was able to call Vacasa and they provided me with the info I needed with no hassle. Our friends also left something at the house and Vacasa made an immediate effort to contact me in order to identify and retrieve the item. We travel lot and this was one of the best places we have stayed. We HIGHLY recommend this location and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Maine:)

    Joshua2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and value

    Thomas2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Vacasa Maine was a house that I had always dreamed about renting and the location could not be beat. There was access to the beach, which my kids loved, and it was less than a five minute drive to Acadia and less than a ten minute drive to downtown Bar Harbor. The house had everything that we wanted to make breakfast, lunch or dinner. There were plenty of utensils, bathroom towels and beach towels. If I ever had the chance to, I would rent from Vacasa Maine again.

    Ryan2019-06-07T00:00:00Z
  • This house is amazing! Just minutes to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, it is perfectly located. Charming on the outside, with lots of character and space on the inside. The rooms were all fully-equipped with everything you could possibly need. The view of the water was great, and the steps down to the beach were a big plus! I would love to stay here again on my next trip to Maine!

**A local travel advisory had been put into effect through April 30. Please contact us for updates and availability. Cozy bright one bedroom apartment over our garage with private entrance. Quiet neighborhood surrounded by woods and wildlife. Walking distance to Some Sound and Somes Pond and a short jaunt to Acadia National Park & many activities our island has to offer. If you are looking for a quit place to relax, this is a great choice.
This is a great sunny apartment. The location is the key. We are located at the end of a quiet street with just one other house on the road. The deer visit us on a daily basis. You can walk less than a mile to Somes Pond where you can swim, kayak, or take the provided folding chair, and sit on the shore with a good book. There are many trails in the area to walk or you can jump on a bike and explore a bit farther. The carriage roads and Acadia National Park are our playground. We live in the house but the way that the apartment is situated, it offers privacy for both the guest and us. Please do not use the fenced back yard and ask to use the front porch for our privacy.
  • Exactly as advertised, cute apartment, near Acadia, great host

The accommodations were an apartment above the garage and were comfortable and inviting. I had the pleasure of meeting Dani during my stay and can say she was very welcoming. She has excellent tips for your stay especially if you are an adventurer! We cannot wait to get back to Maine and Acadia’s Doorstep!

  • Perfect location to everything on the island. Apartment had everything needed; bed was comfy, plenty of room, kitchen, quiet location, and clean. Dani is so easy to communicate with and helpful. We'll be back.

  • Awesome space with less than a 20 minute drive to anywhere we wanted to go around Acadia and Bar Harbor. Great place to stay for a very reasonable price. Check in was very simple and Dani was great! The bed is incredibly comfortable as well! Highly recommend staying here!
