The driveway is long and home is very secluded. Winter access will be subject to weather conditions. Driveway does not get plowed and gets rutty during rainy periods. Robert's place was unbelievably peaceful. We enjoyed the view of the near mountain, the sound of the river wrapping around the property, the soothing acreage of organically grown waving grasses (harboring deer and foxes), a few stands of small trees, a plethora of bird houses near enough the house and a deck for taking it all in! One end of the Deer Rapid suspension bridge is right at the end of the driveway. We brought tubes expecting the river to be lazy like it was in 2023 but this time it was far fuller! Had we more time, we would have rented kayaks, had smores every night or hiked up the way. Everything was user friendly; we appreciated the printed binder, too! The overall cleanliness and air quality of the apartment and drinkability of the tap water were particularly good and worthy of mention! We felt the generosity of the host in every thoughtful detail. We encountered one little problem but which Robert bent over backwards to rectify, again showing great kindness. Such peace!

We spent some days at Diane’s place and it was really lovely. The location is very private and silent, the house is tidy and had everything we needed, and the property was well-equipped with stuff we were allowed to use like canoes or a grill. Already on the property, we saw rabbits, dears, a turtle and a bunch of fireflies in the evening. We had a great time!

Just what I needed…. Sitting on the porch listening to the river, watching the thunderstorm from the front porch, walking barefoot in the holler (I grew up near this house) or eating out at Vinny’s were the highlights to the weekend. There is also a birds nest in the hanging plant. The mama comes and goes. Very entertaining or watching the spider on the side rail spin the web in hopes to catch something good to eat. You have a wonderful place here! So peaceful

My large family stayed two nights and were so impressed by its views, size and generous amount of canoes/tubing/games/cookware/towels. Neat as a pin too. My fav place in the house? The peaceful covered front porch with scenic views. Loved the fire pit as well. The host, Hap, provided ample wood to burn. We would come here again in a heartbeat!

What a great place on the river!! Very peaceful. Clean. Comfy. Loved the screened in porch. The birds are incredible. Has just about everything one would need. Host was responsive. This is 30min outside Luray, but well worth it in my opinion. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and definitely recommend for the easy going traveler. A+ in our books.
