Beachfront vacation rentals in Ometepe

We had a fantastic few days here!!!!! It’s rustic and no frills but literally on the beach - walking out to that view every morning was unbelievable. The beds were clean and comfy. It’s windy at night and noisy with the ocean right there but personally for me the sound of the waves crashing was bliss. The restaurant was great and it was just perfect for what we wanted. Air con really isn’t needed because of the natural ventilation. Their dog was the best too :). Thank you for a memorable stay.

Very helpful and pleasant staff, delightful setting, very good food at good prices. Facilities are a bit basic but this is clear from the description. The two more modern rooms with en suite look like the best option - there are two basic private rooms, plus rather cramped dorms (which received no complaints). There is a nice restaurant area and a nice relaxation area with views of the lake (and sunsets). The excellent Santa Cruz-San Fernando beach is about 4km away, and buses can take you (slowly) further afield. The walk up to the nearby waterfal is hard yacka in the heat - much better to drive a hired scooter up the first 2km of trail. Overall, great value for money and a nice place to relax with the two delightful inhouse dogs and nice family ambience.

Great place if you're looking to stay directly by the lake! The houses are basic, but it works! I enjoyed most being close to the lake and going for a morning swim. Both nights there was quite loud music till late (and we like to sleep early), which could have been an exception... Fernando and the other staff are very friendly and welcoming. For a shorter stay I would def recommend.

La Poza Azul provides a little hideaway at the end of the world. If you want privacy away from the hustle and bustle of some of the more touristy areas of the island, this is your spot. There’s plenty of places to relax to enjoy the sun dotting through the trees and the breeze off the lake. I loved how alone I could be, but when I wanted company, it was easy to find. The land here is intense and beautiful. It will take what it needs to take, and give you what you need to receive. I love to camp, so I’m not bothered by lack of AC or bugs or general things that come with living with the outdoors, so mentally prepare for that type of living if you aren’t accustomed. Spike is incredibly hospitable and such a joy to get to know. He patiently and kindly answered my one million questions about Nicaraguan life. I loved the connections I was able to make with the neighbors, as well. The trip to this secluded spot was a HAUL, and Spike was so proactive and helpful in getting me there. <3

Authentic and beautiful!! Thank you to the whole family. We would have loved to have stayed longer. Our recommendation is to stay at least a week or two. It is beautiful in nature and to arrive on the farm. Don't forget earplugs for the nights, the nocturnal animal and the rooster are part of it:)

Wilber and Lesbia were wonderful hosts and their place was absolutely beautiful. It was clean despite it being quite rustic. We had many animals and bugs come through and it was a very fun experience. The private beach and access to the lake was incredible and the homemade breakfasts are highly recommended.

Lovely family, we felt very welcome. Nice location right at the lake. They made us great lunch and breakfast!

Nothing bad to say about Hector y Isabel's place. Hector was such an amazing host who is so gracious and knowledgeable about the beautiful island of Ometepe. He gave us a great deal on renting his motorcycle and even brought in his sister in law to teach us how to cook local cuisine. If you ask nicely, he might even bring you up the hill and show you his beautiful farm on the side of the Maderas Volcano. Great location right on the beach and close to restaurants and 2km or so to Ojo De Agua. Do yourself a favor and stay in this great spot. Thanks Hector!

This was the best AirBnB experience we've ever had. In complete seriousness, when you read my review, you should just book this place if it works out with your travel plans. If any of these criteria matter to you, this place fits the bill: an extremely helpful and knowledgeable host who will help you coordinate almost anything; perfect cleanliness; a spot next to the water; somewhere eco-friendly; a warm shower; fresh fruits, eggs, herbs, etc literally outside your door; interacting with friendly animals; safety; your own place (not a hotel/hostel); ability to cook your own food; ability to get to anywhere on both sides of Ometepe with relative ease; restaurants/businesses within easy walking; English & Spanish; I could keep going but I think you may get the picture. Linda is one of the most incredible people we've met who has spent years enriching the lives of the people in her community and we couldn't be more grateful for what she shared with us and did for us. Thank you so much.

The property is about an hour from the port. The area isn't as populated as other parts of the island but you can still find everything you need. The lakeside has beautiful old trees with great views of Concepcion Volcano. I got some of my favorite pictures on the island from this property. The host's house has a large rooftop terrace where we enjoyed watching a rain shower. Even though a storm was blowing in, Birte greeted us upon arrival. The house was just as pictured and had everything we needed. As the listing mentioned, power did go out randomly but battery backups were supplied for lighting and the WiFi was on solar and never went out. The tiny houses are relatively close to each other so be respectful with noises made outside at night. Also, Birte provided all the information you need to know about the house and area prior to arrival. Our stay here was the highlight of our trip!

It was a great experience staying at the place. There was so much space you have a lot of privacy and we could enjoy the sunset every evening from home. Was absolutely worth it.

Get a great taste of real Nicaraguan life… centrally located to all of the fun on Ometepe island. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent hosts. Amazing views.

We had a great stay, Birte and Federico are super friendly and welcoming, sunsets and swimming in the lake at their beachfront was definitely a highlight of our visit to Ometepe.

It was a wonderful experience, the house is much nicer in person than the photos show, clean and complete in its entirety. Its proximity and privacy on the beach is the coolest thing. I would go back many more times!

It’s difficult to put how absolutely magical this retreat was for my bachelor party but I’ll do my best below. Aga was the most responsive, communicative and gracious host. Her property has absolutely everything you would need for a true, relaxing getaway. I traveled down with 4 friends for a bachelor party week and am so happy that I did. From the stunning views of Panga Drops LITERALLY right out front the back slider, to the beautiful pool, spacious home, to lounge areas everywhere, the list goes on and on. This property is immaculate and will do the trick if you’re looking to unplug and relax. If working is your thing, the WiFi worked super well but dare you to paddle out and let the ambiance of the beautiful place to truly take over. I will be back and 100% recommend staying at Casa Panga Drops to everyone! There aren’t enough good things I can say about this place. Will be missing it deeply until my return.

We had the most incredible stay at this beautiful beach villa in Nicaragua! The location is perfect – just steps away from the best beach, where we could enjoy stunning sunsets and the sound of the waves all day long. The villa itself is beautiful, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We felt completely secure throughout our stay, with a peaceful and safe atmosphere. An added bonus were the stairs down to the beach….which added some daily exercise. We would stay here again – it was an unforgettable experience! Highly recommend!

Home is absolutely beautiful. Surfing was awesome and so convenient. Great options for restaurants with great food. Over the top customer service! I would highly recommend and will definitely be back! Some tips: Bring cash to avoid credit card fees. Rent a car if you are planning to do sightseeing outside property otherwise renting a golf cart works great. Watch for fisherman on beach selling lobster, etc to cook up for dinner in the beautiful kitchen. Fly into Nicaragua vs Liberia, (if relevant), you’ll save a lot of time and headache crossing the border. Schedule fishing expedition through your host, they have great connections and we came home with lots of fresh fish for dinner. Buy groceries on the way, onsite grocery store is limited and more expensive. Take advantage of market on certain days of the week for fresh fruit and vegetables. Make sure you get everything you need, this property doesn’t stock the basics (eg salt, pepper,etc)
