Island vacation rentals in Norway

We had a wonderful time with our three little children on this beautiful little island- it has become a place of heart and was the pure relaxation. The house makes you feel immediately comfortable, the host is very reliable and likeable and the sunsets at the fjord right on the water are indescribably beautiful. We hope to come back soon!!

This place is a unique experience! We were also lucky with the weather and enjoyed every second at Eivind and Cecilie's little paradise island. We will be back as soon as possible!

Oyvind's house is huge.... exceeded our expectations! Beautiful waterfront location! One concern. Wifi did not work.

We came back for a second time. Last year we had some bad luck with a short stay of a few days and storm Hans and couldn’t see the beauty of this place to the fullest. This year we had much more luck with the weather some rainy and windy days but also some very sunny and quiet days. We had some great time fishing, catch crab, chilling on the sun deck (always a place somewhere with less wind) , did the hike Høgkletten. And just get groceries at the supermarket by boat. AND we’re lucky enough to spot sea otters , sea eagles and beautiful Northern lights on the island itself.

A wonderful place to escape for a few days, surrounded by nature and peace. Thank you Kathrine for taking us to your little island.

The island is super remote, with free-roaming sheep and even saw a moose!

It is difficult to describe how beautiful and wild this island is, and yet how welcoming and warm the hideaway is at the same time. I learned so much, met such interesting and friendly people, and felt completely at home even though I have never been in anyplace even remotely like this before. If you have a sense of adventure, an independent spirit, and an interest in forging connections with new friends, you will love it here. Bring warm clothes, comfortable waterproof shoes, some wine, and an open heart. You will not be disappointed.

Great cottage on lovely Lyngøya. Sunny and close to the sea, which makes this optimal for a summer holiday with the family. The island is a small paradise in itself, with large great oak forest and various small animals. With the cabin located on an island, it comes with a boat, but for an additional fee (and if you have a certificate in place), you can rent the hosts' RIB that takes you from the island to Kristiansand city center in 5-10 minutes. Very convenient. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. We were well received and got a full review of the cabin the first day as well as lots of great tips for places to visit in the city and places to visit by boat in the archipelago. When we checked out we were met at the dock by the hosts who helped us with our luggage. If you are considering vacationing in Kristiansand and want an experience out of the ordinary, I can highly recommend this place.

There are places in this world that make for a great vacation, some that impress, some that inspire. And then there are the truly special places that leave their mark, subtly - or dramatically - change you and how you walk through the world. Arctic Hideaway was that for me. No restaurants, no "activities", no walking tours. Just a magical space in a pristine location to just be. The combination of private and communal space struck the right balance of solitude without loneliness. I feel profoundly grateful to have stayed here. Takk, Havar!
