The Humble Hut

The Humble Hut is cosy with everything you need to feel at home. On warm days, open the top dutch door and let the air flow through and when its cold its great to snuggle up by the fire. Outside there is a private area that is ideal for sunbathing or having lunch or a glass of wine. There is seating around the hut so what ever time of day you can find a place to sit in the sun and admire the stunning views. At night if the sky is clear you can star gaze as we are in a dark sky area.

Our beautiful shepherd's hut sits in four acres of secluded woodland in rural Hexhamshire. Enjoy the peaceful solitude, with glimpsed views through the mature oaks onto the North Pennines. Surrounded by miles of footpaths, bridleways and moorland, there are walking, cycling and riding options in every direction. Nearby rural pubs offer delicious local ales and fantastic food. Beautiful cosy Shepherds Hut with views over the local countryside. Our bespoke hand made, wood fired hot tub offers a unique bathing experience. Enjoy the natural warmth of the water, heated and ready for your arrival. This does need to be booked in advance, we ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice. There is an additional charge of £40.00. If your stay is longer than one night we are able to drain, refill and reheat at £15.00 per night. Fuel for the woodburner is supplied.

Welcome to SHEP – your cosy shepherd’s hut on a vintage military lorry, nestled along an old railway line on our family farm in the Scottish Borders. Snuggle up by the wood-burning stove in winter or throw open the French doors for a summer BBQ. Ideal for couples, families or solo stays. Optional wood-fired hot tub – £70 per stay (please book in advance). Pre-light service can be requested but is not always available. Extra logs can be purchased for £15 per bag.

TINY HOME Railway Carriage No.1 - Stunning Views

At the end of a wooded lane, through a farm gate, two 1930s cargo rail carriages recovered from the North East Railway have been transformed into cosy retreats at Lockhaugh Farm.
