We have recently updated this cottage ---- with a new kitchen with a proper hob and oven, and also replaced all the windows and even the front door ! The Forge cottage is set on our working sheep farm, on the Durham Northumberland border. Ideal for couples, or people traveling on their own, the cottage is a great location for local attractions such as Beamish Museum, Durham, Newcastle, Kilhope lead mining museum etc., but it's also great for those looking for peace and quiet and country walks !!

Everything was perfect, so clean, well stocked and very comfortable. Towels were super soft and toiletries in big dispensers rather than wasteful little sachets were appreciated. David was very responsive and gave timely updates and recommendations when asked. Was a great location for a trip to Beamish and ideal as a stop off point for a trip from Kent to Scotland. Would totally recommend this home from home

This idyllic cottage is set in private grounds and was a really peaceful spot. We had a relaxing holiday and felt rested and refreshed after staying here. Jean welcomed us on our arrival and was both warm and friendly as well as very knowledgeable about things to do and places to eat in the area. Jean lives nearby and we chatted a few times in the passing which was lovely. The cottage is near the river and there are some nice walks along the river to a cafe. The beds were so comfortable and we definitely plan to book again at some point. We can highly recommend this place to others!
