Had a great stay! The place was clean, comfortable, and in an unbeatable location—just a short walk to the beach. Having a Dollar General right next door was super clutch for grabbing snacks, drinks, or anything we forgot to pack. Would definitely stay again!

Sandy Toes, Beautiful Beach Town

TabithaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Jessica is very responsive and this home was a great deal! We were a little disappointed because the home had one less bed than listed so we had to have someone stay on one of the pull out couches but I was doable. We’d definitely stay here again.

Shrimp Shack -King Bed -Boat Parking - NO Pet Fees

WillRating, 5 starstoday
Fantastic stay at the Shrimp Shack! Richard is a great host, very friendly and accessible. The place was exactly what my family and I needed for our stay- wishing we had brought our dog along! The fenced in backyard is spacious and a walking trail is directly behind the home which would’ve been perfect for her. We were also pleased with the distance to town, only a few minutes drive to downtown. There is a lot to do in Port St. Joe that can keep you busy, so make sure to book at least a few days to experience it all. Will 100% book again!

Golf Cart! E-bikes! Heated Pool! Arcade! Fire Pit!

NatalieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We have travelled to this area for years and this is by far the best house we have stayed at. Gorgeous house, plenty of space for our big family. We had a blast with the golf cart, E-bikes and video games. Beach chairs were in excellent condition. House was beautifully decorated. My only complaint is they made us leave , I could have stayed forever LOL . Even accommodated a late check out. Communication is top notch. We will definitely be repeat customers . Thanks Darin for the best Mother’s Day a mom could have.

Sunset Dreams -2 Blocks/ 5 Min Walk to Beach!

MattRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was my first trip with AirBnB and I have to admit I was more than a little apprehensive about how the process would play out. I opted to try contracting with Igor and Madison's home based on location and appearance. They were very quick to reach out, show interest in my background and determine my reason for interest in their property. Upon passing their tenant screening (they legitimately want visitors who will care for their home, not trash it), they frequently touched base over the four month period leading up to our visit. They provided valuable tips about the area (from local eateries, emergency medical care (utilized within the first 18 hrs in PCB) and public beach access (within very easy walking distance). Messages we sent regarding questions about the visit were responded to, WITHOUT fail, within 10 to 20 minutes. Our experience with Igor and Madison was Top-Notch. Immaculate home, clear house rules/expectations and desire for our experience to be great. A 6 out of 5!

Stunning 2BR/2BA Cottage- Steps from the beach!

AmyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This was our 1st time visiting Mexico Beach and we will definitely be back. Brandi’s beach cottage was beautiful and just a short walk to the beach! We enjoyed the private back patio. She also had plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas, and even a beach wagon. The quietness of Mexico Beach was so nice and everyone you meet is very friendly. We also enjoyed going 20 mins down the road to St. Port Joe. Plenty more shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and a lighthouse if you need something to do.

Vacation Paradise Steps from the Beach & Marina

BeckyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Her place was incredible! It was so beautiful and clean. It was an easy walk to the beach and right across the street from a general store and marina. The Shell Shack was a big hit as well. We got our crab legs steamed from there and walked right across the road and ate them right in the kitchen. The daily service of having chairs and an umbrella put out on the beach was so thoughtful. And the company that does this are so informative as to when they have them set out and as to when they pick them up. Everything was perfect!!

One and 1/2 blocks to the BEACH!

AmandaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
My family and I felt right at home at this place. It was so lovely, outside was adorable. Inside had everything we needed. Especially a fan of the big wheels on the beach cart made it a breeze to carry all our stuff down to the Oceanside. A very quick easy walk. Kitchen came more stocked than I thought with every pot/pan I could need. My 6 year old especially loved the outdoor toilet and shower. The outside “recreation” area also was fantastic. Highly recommend this place and will be staying again definitely!!!

A 2 BR/2.5 BA beautifully, decorated townhouse!

LoriRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful beach townhouse! From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The space is bright, airy, and tastefully decorated with a relaxed coastal vibe that instantly put us in vacation mode. The location couldn’t be better, just steps from the beach! We enjoyed our morning coffee on the balcony and ended each evening with a sunset walk along the shore. The townhouse was spotless and fully equipped with everything we needed, from a well-stocked kitchen to beach wagon and towels. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and there was plenty of space for everyone to unwind. Whether you’re looking for a quiet escape or a fun-filled beach adventure, this spot truly has it all. Steps to the Beach with Shibumi Shade!

AmandaRating, 5 stars5 days ago
I have no idea how we lucked out to get this home at the last minute! I wondered if I was overlooking something, but I wasn't. It was just as lovely in person! Really, one of the nicest AirB&Bs we have ever stayed in. Beautifully designed and decorated, and everything was spotless. The chairs, beach wagon, and Shibumi shade were great. My tall husband was impressed that the shower head was taller than him. This home is close to the jetty and canal, and if you cross the bridge, you can take a long beach walk and have it all to yourself for miles. We have loved Mexico Beach for decades, and it is wonderful to see how it continues to rebuild after Hurricane Michael. We would love to stay at Jill's place again sometime.

The Bunkie on Wetappo Creek

HollyRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We had an amazing experience at the Bunkie. Katie gave very clear instructions on how to check in and find her home because the GPS wasn’t always accurate. Check in was smooth and seamless and everything was exactly as pictured. The tiny house was extremely clean and accommodations were very well thought out. The location was beautiful, serene and peaceful and a very short drive to the beach making this location the both of best worlds. Katie went above and beyond in making us feel at home and she exceeded our expectations. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again in the future. Thanks so much for an amazing time!

Your guide to Mexico Beach

All About Mexico Beach

Perched on Florida’s Emerald Coast, Mexico Beach is a sunny destination beloved for its white sands, clear waters, and family-friendly spirit. Spend relaxing days stretching out on the sand, fishing on the Gulf of Mexico, and scoping out dive sites. When you turn your gaze to the horizon, you’ll likely see dolphins playing in the waves and pelicans swooping overhead. Make no mistake, people come here for the crystalline waters, surf, and scuba diving, but this down-to-earth community also has a lot of character. While here, don’t be surprised if you get invited to the annual Beach Gumbo Cook-Off. In 2018, Mexico Beach was one of the communities hit hard by Hurricane Mike, but with the help of friends and neighbors, they’ve managed to rebuild, in a true testament to the people who love this city.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Mexico Beach

With quirky local festivals aplenty, there’s something fun going on whenever you decide to visit. August to September is prime time to sample Bay scallops (or try your hand at fishing for them, if you have a license). August is also when the beloved Kingfish Tournament takes place. February is the annual Gumbo Cook-Off. If you want to see baby turtles hatching and making their way to the sea, May through October is their nesting season (just be sure not to get too close). Weather-wise, the summer tends to be hot, humid, and rainy, while the winter can get quite cool. For optimal weather, spring and autumn are your best bets. August through September is peak hurricane season, so if you’re traveling during those months be sure to pay attention to the local forecast.

Top things to do in Mexico Beach

Scuba diving

Mexico Beach has put a lot of stock in regenerating its coral reefs and protecting its marine ecosystems. The Gulf of Mexico is now home to more than 125 artificial reefs, some of which have grown into dense coral forests. Diving around here is also like a treasure hunt: scope out the Artificial Reef Pyramids, a WWII oil tanker, and several wrecked boats.

FIshing

The fishing around Mexico Beach is pretty great, especially during the summer months, when it’s possible to find Bay scallops, mackerel, red snapper, and grouper. Even novices can try their hand if you plan your trip in accordance with one of the license-free Fishing Days, which the city hosts throughout the year. Not a fan of fishing? You can still sample all the seafood you like, as local fishermen drag their hauls into local restaurants every day.

Wildlife spotting

Dolphins, sea turtles, pelicans, and bald eagles are all locals here, and depending on the time of year you come, you’ll have a pretty good chance of spotting them casually along the beach. Sea turtle nesting season happens every May through October, while bald eagles are best spotted in the winter. Regardless of season, there are few things more idyllic than watching the sun set over the water from your Mexico Beach rental, beverage in hand, as dolphins play in the waves in the distance.
