Vallakot Farm Guesthouse is a small guesthouse, located in Northeast Iceland in the middle of the Diamond circle. It is situated in a green and peaceful valley called Reykjadalur and the village Laugar is only a few kilometers away with a restaurant, grocery shop, a swimming pool and other amenities. Vallakot Farm is both a farm and a guesthouse and a place that has been in the family for decades. We have three studio apartments built in 2017 and a cabin that we finished renovate in June 2023.

Hamrar Farm Apartment

The studio apartment is newly renovated in the basement of our house. You enter a room with two beds ( one 160 cm bed and one 90 cm bed) in the other room is kitchen and bathroom. Me and my familie live on the second floor. We are on a farm and have horses, sheeps, chicken, dog and a cat. We are also near by many interesting places, about 30 km from Mývatn, 35 km from Húsavík, 15 km from Goðafoss watefall.

I really enjoyed my stay here, the views are incredible and the house is super spacious and clean. The kitchen had all the tools and equipment we needed to make food. The area is pretty quiet and located just outside the city.

The home was exactly as described—clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. Super easy access. Every little detail was thoughtfully prepared, and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. Beautiful mountain house (like a chalet) with a spectacular view! The weather in Iceland can vary from sunny to snowy in a day and this location got a lot of snow while we were there; make sure you come with a 4x4 car if you don’t want to be stuck when it snows.

It took some effort to find this place, but it was definitely worth it. The house is clean, the host is friendly, and although it's across the river from Akureyri, it's not too far—after all, most people staying here are probably driving anyway. Overall, I'd give it a 4.2 out of 5.
