Vacation rentals with a fireplace in Lake Tawakoni

My group of friends raved about the place. It was very well done, had everything we needed and more. The hosts were incredible and have thought of virtually everything. I definitely want to return this property in the future.

Our stay in Tyler was nothing short of perfect! The home is nestled in a wonderfully quiet neighborhood, offering a peaceful retreat while still being just minutes from some of the best restaurants and shops in town. The location truly couldn’t be better for exploring everything Tyler has to offer. The host was incredibly responsive and made us feel welcome from the moment we booked, always quick to answer questions and provide helpful local tips. What really set this home apart were the spa-like amenities—the private sauna and hot tub turned our getaway into a true relaxation experience. After a day out, unwinding in the hot tub or sauna made us feel like we were at a luxury spa. We can’t recommend this place highly enough for anyone seeking comfort, convenience, and a touch of indulgence in Tyler!

Overall we had a good stay, Check in and out instructions were clear, beautiful property on the lake, however the dock advertised in the listing is nothing like it is in pictures…. It is unusable because of the amount of spiders that call it home I’m sure it maybe hard to stay on top of keeping them out of the dock but necessary for full use of the property as advertised.

The house is amazing but the back patio is the real show stopper! We were able to cook all weekend and really appreciated how stocked the kitchen was with utensils and other items to make it easy. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice quiet getaway.

This is the second time we rent this house. This is the perfect summer getaway for a weekend with friends and family! We appreciated the numerous amenities, including the large firepit, the ponds and the boats available for use. Thank you to the host for having us.

This is a perfect little guest house, very clean, lots of amenities to choose from. Host responded within 10-15 minutes when needed. Great location, easy to find and a short distance to town and First Monday Grounds. Highly recommend H&J Guesthouse.

I’m so glad we went. It was one of our best weekend trips. Needed some peace and quiet. The property was well maintained and they really made us feel at home. Constantly making sure we had all we needed. We got to see their homestead and the beautiful craftsmanship and love that Doug had put into their home. It’s a place that you can go and spend some quality time with God and be near His beautiful country. We really feel like we made some great friends and will definitely return again. We originally went there to go to canton first Monday. Honestly we were only at Canton for around maybe 1 1/2hrs and spent the remainder at Connie and Doug’s place. It was so much fun staying in the studio apartment above the barn, just like in heartland! Thanks again for great conversations and friendship! Go check it out you won’t be disappointed!!

It was PERFECT. Very cozy, beautiful, comfortable, and Mario thought of EVERYTHING. He even provided a kennel in the living room to put our two dogs, a Chihuahua mix, and an Austrailian Shepherd, so we didn't have to lug our big kennels in from the truck. And the biggest deal for me: DIMMER SWITCHES! Do you know how many times I have wished for dimmer switches on lighting at AirBnB's? And Mario had them on EVERY ceiling light AND in the bathroom! I'm a blue-eyed guy, a little light sensitive at night and this and other features made me so comfortable! We had a dear friend over to dinner and Mario had everything in the kitchen we needed to cook grass-fed rib eye steaks! I found the bed extremely comfortable. No back problems at all the next morning. Heads up for some folks, it is a 3rd floor unit, which I loved because of the deck off the back, but for some you will need to take your time on the stairs. However, my friend's 80+ year old mother was able to make it up with some help.

This was a wonderful experience. The home is beautiful and the location is lovely. Bill is a great communicator and we felt very welcome. I highly recommend this location.

We were particularly impressed by the well-equipped kitchen, which came stocked with everything we needed, from pots and pans to plates and utensils, allowing us to prepare and enjoy meals together with ease. This location is perfect for hosting large groups, especially those with a love for fishing, as it offers both beautiful outdoor scenery and easy access to excellent fishing spots. Loved this property and the location, it’s right on the lake, with a beautiful view, and everything you could need for a Great Lakefront getaway. We stayed over memorial day weekend with family and it did not disappoint. From the pool, to hot tub and well-equipped kitchen and game rooms, all you need is here! We will definitely be back as guests.

Undoubtedly the nicest Airbnb we have ever stayed in! The place is absolutely beautiful. It’s a huge space, but felt cozy at the same time. We had a small memorial for my father and we stayed two nights before the service and two nights after. My dad loved music and we were able to use the baby grand piano to help honor his life. The place is in the country, so it’s quiet and beautiful and just so peaceful. There’s lots of outside space to enjoy the scenery. I can’t say enough about how nice it was and how pleasant it was to be able to spend time with family who had traveled from Oregon, Indiana, Louisiana, and California to honor my dad. Thanks for helping us celebrate his life in such an amazing place!

The Airbnb of my dreams!! My bridal party and I got ready for my wedding here and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful place! I highly recommend to anyone staying in downtown McKinney with a large group. Sooooo comfortable and the perfect space!

Dragonhead Retreat provided an idyllic setting for a milestone birthday celebration. The venue comfortably accommodated our large diverse group of guests. The staff were attentive and the amenities were top-notch. We especially appreciated the attention to detail and personalized service. It made the occasion truly memorable. Being a gay interracial married couple, it was wonderful having a nonjudgment zone and being treated with respect along with our friends and family who attended the birthday celebration. Not only will we be back to explore more of those amazing 25 acres of nature! Several from our event would love to schedule the cabin for team building and the lodge for family events!! Thank you for bringing talented potters and so many generations of artists to us all!

The pool area was beautiful and area where you sleep is clean and cool! You can control A/C, which was very nice. We didn’t use most of the house due to the host sharing the area, but we really enjoyed our time by the pool and our privacy in the wing where we slept. Marvin was super sweet and helpful.
