Remote, stylish ‘Barnacle’ Bothy on private island

JamesRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
There are a lot of places I’ve been where I tell myself I need to come back again, but I’m booking this again this year. Just the most peaceful, perfect place I’ve ever stayed. Can’t wait to spend a few more nights here relaxing, soaking in the views and exploring the island.

The Lighthouse Cottage

JackRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a fabulous stay at the lighthouse cottage on Davaar. Ned and Toni were brilliant hosts from start to finish, amazing and clear communication, and super helpful. Ned was brilliant at helping drive us and our things over to the island and getting us checked in, and the cottage itself is really lovely, with everything you could need, including a lovely living room and kitchen area, light and spacious bedrooms with great views, and the location is second to none. Having a whole island with almost nobody else on it to explore and relax at was truly the perfect holiday and we’d love to visit again. Thank you so much Ned and Toni!

Private ensuite twin (in bunks) Try 'Hostel Life'

JulesRating, 5 stars24 months ago
Pamela is super friendly and knowledgable. I loved the beauty of the area and the fact that the beach and sea loch is right there. There’s a busy road to dodge to get there, but it’s stunning scenery. The hostel is very relaxed and when we were there, there was only one other guest, so lovely and quiet

Beachview Isle of Gigha

WillRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Would highly recommend Beach view cottage. It was clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The location is also ideal for staying on the beautiful island of Gigha - an easy short walk to the beach, Achamore gardens or for a drink at The Boathouse. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Magical Island cabin overlooking the sea

IanRating, 5 stars4 weeks ago
What can I say about this place that will do it justice! What an incredible stay, as soon as Ned picked us up to take us across to Davaar Island we knew we had made the best choice for our stay. Ned was really friendly and welcoming, telling us all we needed to know for our stay and more. The cabin was spotless and has everything you need and things you didn't realise you needed (I didn't have the binoculars out of my hands for more than 5 minutes) Ned told us what wildlife to look out for and we weren't disappointed. We seen an otter, dozens of different bird species (seeing and hearing the Gannett's hit the water was a constant buzz) the Highland Cows, the Seal that seemed to live just outside the cabin and finally seeing a pod of porpoise swim past our balcony, wow. Ned told us we could attempt to catch a lobster and showed us the pots but did warn us that it's highly unlikely...on our last night we ate steak and a fresh LOBSTER! Thank you for having us and we will be coming back x

Charming Seafront Cottage

PaddyRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Tayvallich is a beautiful, quiet but active location and Carsaig Cottage is right at it's heart, opposite the bustling village pier/pontoon, and also opposite the village shop. As locations go, pretty hard to beat, and the cottage itself is lovely - warm, comfortable, homely and fully equipped. Many thanks Liz

Cottage in Carradale

AlanRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Joanne's place was a peaceful retreat for 2 people with beautiful views over to Arran. The accommodation was very well equipped in the kitchen and the double bed was very comfortable. The main bathroom was a good size too. It was nice to be off grid for a while and we felt benefits of quality downtime in the house. 10m away you have your perfect spot for a morning dip and within a short walk you have a small hotel with friendly locals for company.

HILLCREST. Best views, comfortable retreat.

LucRating, 5 stars9 months ago

Saddler's Brae, seafront house in Port Charlotte

AlexisRating, 5 stars1 month ago

StewartRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The apartment was very spacious, well furnished, with all the facilities we needed. We were fortunate to be on Islay with warm sunny weather, so the private patio and seating overlooking the water was a great bonus. Birte was very helpful with advice when we arrived, and with clear labels on equipment, so everything went smoothly. We were able to park our car in the secure area behind the gate. Islay was of course a fabulous place for walking and nature. Various small cafes were mainly closed during our stay, which was Sunday to Wednesday in May, but we enjoyed good meals, drinks or coffees at Sea Salt, the Bridgend hotel and Lochside hotel. Strangely, we didn't manage to visit any distillery visitor centre.
