Lake house vacation rentals in Illinois

Our family of 10 had a lovely time at the Lake House. The spacious home has five king-size beds and four bathrooms, along with a bunk bed in the basement, which our kids used for a slumber party. The dining room offered a place for all of us to eat at the same table, and the shaded outdoor deck provided nice views of the lake and the wildlife (many deer). Our family took advantage of the kayaks and canoes available on the lake. The dock was too many steps for aged parents to descend, so we decided against the offer for the pontoon (which was an added cost). The location was close to stores and restaurants. The Royal Donut is a must.

This was our second time at Ho Hum East and we had a great time! The new deck updates were super nice adding outdoor space to layout food and enjoy most meals on the deck. The outdoor kitchen wasn't completed yet but, will be a great addition to the new deck when it's done. The main bath was newly remodeled and was very nice and spacious. The lake front was well maintained and a great space for us to spend most of our time enjoying the water, sun, fishing, boating, nature and wildlife. The dock was a little wobbly although, we were told that was being replaced at some point but it worked for us. The airbnb owner provided a paddleboard, rubber raft, corn hole boards and other outdoor items to use. The proximity of the home was only a few minutes from amenities i.e. pool, golf course, beach and The Cove (restaurant). The only drawback is all the steps - it would be great if there was a pulley system or other system to take items up and down the steps from the house to the lake front.

Indoor pool was great! Travel size shampoo and conditioner were provided in all bathrooms, as well as plenty of towels. Nice house right on the lake!

This house is simply wonderful. It has the best beachy cottage summer vibes! The location is also great very private for being somewhat close to the city, and very close to Six Flags. We especially loved mornings on the deck and taking the kayaks out on the lake. Can't wait to stay again!

Peaceful and private along a small lake. Really enjoyed sitting on the porch watching wildlife. All the ammenities you would want.

Loved staying at Ellen’s beautiful lake home for the weekend. It was very comfortable for all and views of the lake/sunset did not disappoint! Ellen was super quick to respond to questions before and during our stay, so accommodating and pleasant :) Lake of Egypt is one of our favorite spots and we enjoyed going back once again. Ellen’s home is one of the prettiest yet - updated and modern with all of the conveniences + lots of extras with vacationers in mind. Located near the marina for great food, boozy shakes, live music and the water park. We also enjoyed the kayaks provided and hanging out on the large deck of the home, as well as the spacious dock below. Highly recommend this host and home for your next trip to the lake!

Our stay at this lake house was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the thoughtful touches and attention to detail. The living room’s large windows, provided breathtaking views of the lake. It had every appliance and utensil we needed, along with thoughtful extras like spices, oil, and coffee filters. The bathrooms were equipped with ample towels and toiletries. We enjoyed peaceful mornings on the deck, sipping coffee, cruising the lake, and watching the wildlife. The quiet surroundings made it easy to relax and unwind. We can’t wait to come back and stay again!!

This home is so beautiful, clean, spacious and the location is great! We loved that we were able to bring our boat and use the dock. We had the best time! Would highly recommend. :)

Absolutely beautiful cabins, peaceful scenery and perfect place to get away! Be prepared! Nothing nearby for miles! Beds a little u comfortable and a steep climb to get to if on the 2nd level which is difficult in the middle of night. Take box fan for noise if ur used to that also coffee! Great place though,could have stayed forever💕

Brian and Jonny were very responsive and communicative from beginning to end. It was a last minute trip and we were lucky to find a pet friendly place during the start of the summer season. The house was clean, cozy and close to walking trails. Although we did not take advantage of the outdoor grill or hot tub (they have a wood burning fireplace for the winter), we enjoyed the screened in porch and open concept layout of the house, as pictured in the profile. The house is situated between two other houses blocked somewhat by the trees. I would describe as semi-private where we could see their back patio/hot tub/fire pit and vice versa. But whatever your personal comfort level, you can’t beat the proximity to trails, Owners Club, and easy access to Hwy 20 to Galena! We enjoyed our stay and exploring!

Renee was a great host with quick response time and provided added resources for what shelbyville had to offer. The house exceeded our expectations and we appreciated all the amenities that the house had to offer- will be recommending to other organizations to use for retreats!

We were in the area for soccer and had our dogs with us, so didn't want to get a hotel room. Sean's place was right on the lake and had plenty of space for 3 adults, 1 teenager, an elementary aged kiddo, and 2 dogs. Beds were comfy and several areas to sit and enjoy each others company, both inside and out. Highly recommend working with Sean and taking advantage of this serene location.

Larry was a very accommodating and responsive host! The place was amazing and exactly as described. Plenty of room, amenities, and beautiful views. He made sure we had plenty of supplies and all the stuff for Smores!

We had 8 adults (4 just graduated) and one child in our group. Everyone had a great time and no one was bored. Me and my husband really enjoyed sitting on the deck with our coffee in the mornings soaking in the beautiful scenery, the duck patrolling the lake every morning was an added bonus 😀. The rest of the group enjoyed relaxing and playing in the lake most of the day and playing pool inside at night. Havana is only a 10 minute drive away and has most of what you would need (grocery store, farm and home, gas, restaurants, etc). The hosts were very responsive and helpful! We had an unexpected death in the family the week before our trip and the funeral was set for the day in the middle of our trip. The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate our trip with the funeral. We were lucky that their place wasn't booked for the day after our trip ended and they kindly moved our reservation a day to help us have the most time enjoying their space. We would book with the hosts again!

We had a great trip! I loved that we had a dining table big enough for everyone to eat together. There was enough room to accommodate all 10 of us. Great memories were made!

Enjoyed a five day stay at this super cute cottage. Carlyle Lake is a real gem and we enjoyed the short walk to the Keyesport beach and going for daily runs through town. We also rented a pontoon boat for an afternoon at a nearby arena and hiked in the state park. So much to do! We loved the vintage theme of the cottage and enjoyed cooking our meals in the well-stocked kitchen. We definitely plan on coming back!

This was a wonderful place. Our daughter graduated navy boot camp and she was able to sit in the backyard and relax by the lake. It was welcoming, inviting and peaceful and quiet. We will definitely be coming again. This was our first Airbnb and it exceeded our expectations.

Hugo was a great host. The house was just like the listing, ideal for a weekend with friends. We were five couples with children, an ideal family atmosphere. It has games and equipment to enjoy the lake and garden, such as a small pool, life jackets, sport balls... It was a great weekend thanks to the space and the house, highly recommended!

The Lake house was spectacular. It was pristine and peaceful. My family and I had a relaxing and enjoyable time with lots to do and a lot of space. Highly recommend if you are looking for a house on the lake for families and groups of friends, feels like a home away from home.

It was our first time to Galena. We were looking for a relaxing weekend getaway to celebrate our 20th. The house was exactly as described in a serene setting within Galena Territory. We enjoyed hiking, biking, and wineries all within a short drive, and then relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. We didn't partake in any of the included amenities within Galena Territory, but noted it as a positive that we would take advantage of for future trips. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return soon!

Heidi’s spot on the water was fabulous, spotless, beautifully maintained property and super clean and well stocked. We spent most of our time outside on the lawn and the river in the swings and kayaks, what a wonderful peaceful spot, we will def be back - thx so much Heidi for a wonderful stay!
