Farmstay vacation rentals in Douro River

I spent a glorious month at Maria Celeste’s home. It was simply the best place to reset, connect with nature & rest. I’ve never been to a more peaceful home. Freshly squeezed orange juice (from trees) every morning. Lemons for water. A natural spring to swim off hiking grime. Mountains to climb surrounding the entire home. Lizard & butterfly friends. And so so quiet. Maria Celeste picked me up & drove me to the location. Taxi services available to go to town when needed. I can not recommend staying at this home more. If you need some R’n’R, stay. You won’t regret it.

Ivone & Joep are incredible in their devotion for nature, animals and human connection. We had a beautiful stay in the Peacock bungalow. Every morning we could witness and observe through the large windows of the bungalow the peacocks in their full splendor. We enjoyed the quietness and the opportunity to just rest. We also very much enjoyed spending a moment with Ivone in the garden, sharing about plants and sharing about the beauty of nature. We loved hearing about their story with Joep, their love and how all this unfolded for them. All a great inspiration!

Fantastic stay at Ricardo's villa! Beautiful pool and villa setup in an incredibly secluded part of the countryside. We went as a group of eight in our late twenties - we didn't have a car so Ricardo organised a taxi for us to get around that was incredibly helpful, including to get down into the village to visit the INCREDIBLE Tasquinha do Tio Miguel! We will be back! Xxx

Reservei o espaço para uma despedida de solteiro. Posso afirmar que todas as 11 pessoas ficaram extremamente contentes com a casa, disponibilidade do sr. Marcos e restante equipa, limpeza, comodidades e principalmente a localização da casa. Era exatamente o que procurávamos, para o tipo de férias que queríamos fazer. Fomos sempre muito bem aconselhados, informados, bem recebidos, não nos faltou nada. Uma terra linda, com atividades e locais de visita obrigatórios. Uma boa relação preço-qualidade para quem procura um bonito refúgio da vida de cidade. Muito obrigado. Voltaremos.

What a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful scenery and a fabulous home. My family and I met for a family union and we all felt right at home immediately. From check in to leaving we had great communication with Amparo and nothing was ever too much trouble. We all said we would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Amparo for making our family so welcome and being on hand when we needed advice or assistance.

This place was amazing, way bigger than it looks in the photos, with everything we needed and incredible views. The host was super helpful and easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend and stay again if I get the chance!

This was a wonderful stay that offers you the best of both worlds. A quaint, peaceful rural home yet driveable to bigger tourist areas. Jose was such a welcoming host and we appreciated our arrival treats and his graciousness even with our late arrival. The history to the home is unique and adds another layer of warmth to the stay. The home was clean and the beds comfy. The shower had good pressure and a good supply of hot water. It has a functional kitchen as well as a grill outside that we made good use of. The pool was absolutely lovely after a long day of touring. We enjoyed evening games of euchre in the loft area but note that even if you aren’t tall, remember to duck as there’s a low beam. We highly recommend this stay and would return without hesitation!

This home is absolutely beautiful, we felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. Everything we could possibly need was there, from a fully equipped kitchen to thoughtful touches throughout the house and garden. It was spotless, and we especially appreciated the fresh citrus and eggs from the birds next to the property waiting for us. Carolina and her husband are exceptional hosts, warm, generous, and incredibly helpful. All their recommendations were perfect. Do note that a car is essential, and confident driving is a must in the area. The game room with the pool table was a great bonus, especially on rainy days. The nature, the views, and the garden were all stunning. Our only regret was not staying longer.

Beautiful apartment in a stunning location. Wonderful beds and linen. Pool was very well kept and great for a refreshing dip. Hosts were very friendly and had great recomendations. The view across the valley was outstanding. Short drive to Pinhao. The owners offered us their own wine and port which was delicious.

Todo perfecto! Sin duda lo recomiendo! Rosa , la anfitriona, se mostró muy amable y dispuesta . Nos preparó una sangria riquísima y nos proporcionaba mucha intimidad. Nuestro perro Yako se lo pasó genial jugando su perro, Beny!! El espacio es tranquilo, amplio, con unas vistas preciosas y un pueblo amplio por el que pasear. La casa está muy bien equipada! Volvía sin lugar a dudas. Gracias!!!!

Very nice place! , we orderd a bottle of wine from the restaurant. It was a local wine from de douro valley, you can imagine the completeness of the douro experience at the pool with a view over the landscape. Good luck!

Wir haben mit 9 Personen unseren Urlaub bei Bruno verbracht. Es war eine wunderbare Zeit. Die Unterkunft ist wie auf den Fotos und Bruno ist zurecht ein Top-Host. Er hatte stets Tipps für uns bereit und die Kommunikation war sehr angenehm. Alles in Allem sehr zu empfehlen!

We had a wonderfull time at Santiago's cottage. The property was just amazing with great view to the vally. We were surrnded with cherries and other fruit trees. The infinty pool was so refeshing. I highly recommend this magical place!

Nuestra estancia en casa de Jorge fue un sueño. La casa se sitúa en medio de una finca enorme, ideal para desconectar por completo teniendo las comodidades de la casa y la paz de la naturaleza. Fuimos con dos niños y se lo pasaron genial explorando por todo el terreno de la finca y visitando a los tres burros. Jorge estuvo muy atento a nuestras necesidades. Si queréis comer en los restaurantes de los pueblos cercanos, recomiendo reservar con tiempo, ya que muchos estaban completos.

Amazing location with incredible views. Beautiful property with great interior design and well chosen artwork, sympathetic to the original school. Thanks to Tania and Carla for the care and attention and for the outstanding breakfast each day. And for doing a shop for us on the first day before our arrival. We would definitely recommend the chef at home meal. Great food and service by the guys with traditional Portuguese dishes on offer. Fantastic stay; we didn’t want to leave….ever! Outstanding! Vraiment sympa de loger dans cette cabane perchée située dans un environnement paradisiaque en pleine nature, entouré d’animaux. Le coucher de soleil , les pieds dans l’eau de la magnifique piscine à débordement est un « must » Les parents de Daniel qui nous accueillent sont très sympathiques et pour les francophones,… on parle français!

The whole place is amazing, very quiet and peaceful, good for a nice vacation or a quick getaway! The property is well maintained and there’s a lot of different things to do inside. The host is very nice and really helpful, it was great and we are happy to come back again!

A Hidden Gem in Nature! We had an unforgettable stay at this stunning farmhouse! The setting is absolutely serene—surrounded by lush greenery and fresh air. The highlight for us was definitely the natural water tank. It felt like our own private spring-fed pool—so refreshing and peaceful, especially in the mornings. The farmhouse itself is beautifully maintained, combining rustic charm with modern comforts. The interiors were cozy and spotless, and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking meals. Waking up to the sound of birds and sipping coffee on the porch while looking out over the landscape was pure magic. Our host was warm, welcoming, and very responsive, offering great local tips and ensuring we had everything we needed. If you’re looking to disconnect from the hustle and reconnect with nature, this place is a dream. We can’t wait to return!

Somos una familia de Madrid y pasamos un fin de semana espectacular en la casa de Ana. La casa es preciosa, rodeada de naturaleza y con una tranquilidad que te desconecta por completo. La cocina está muy bien equipada, ideal para cocinar como en casa, y las camas son súper cómodas, con colchones de muy buena calidad que nos permitieron descansar perfectamente. Además, la chimenea fue el toque perfecto para las noches frescas, creando un ambiente acogedor. La ubicación es inmejorable, en medio de la naturaleza y rodeada de vegetación, lo que nos permitió disfrutar de paseos relajantes y desconectar de la ciudad. Sin duda, es un lugar al que nos encantaría volver. ¡Gracias, Ana, por ser una excelente anfitriona y por cuidar cada detalle!

Ana was a great host, the apartment was fully stocked and had so many special additions, like meat, cheese, and bread, fruit, eggs, and other breakfast foods in the pantry. Fresh bread on the door in the morning!! Wine in the refrigerator😃 Pinhao is great to explore and be a homebase. It was wonderful to relax on the balcony and play cards in the living room after a long day of fun.
