Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Douro River

I spent a glorious month at Maria Celeste’s home. It was simply the best place to reset, connect with nature & rest. I’ve never been to a more peaceful home. Freshly squeezed orange juice (from trees) every morning. Lemons for water. A natural spring to swim off hiking grime. Mountains to climb surrounding the entire home. Lizard & butterfly friends. And so so quiet. Maria Celeste picked me up & drove me to the location. Taxi services available to go to town when needed. I can not recommend staying at this home more. If you need some R’n’R, stay. You won’t regret it.

We loved the house!! From the first minute, Betty gave us the keys and gave us the explanations of the house. It's lovely! The house was spotless and with many details, the smell of the towels, the soaps, the bed and the pillows were very comfortable! It is a spectacular dream house. There is peace and tranquility, and the house has everything. It is made with a lot of love, and it shows!!! We loved the stay, we will definitely be back soon!! We recommend it 100%. This was a truly incredible stay and highly recommended. The pictures don't do this home justice in terms of the natural beauty that surrounds it. There are gorgeous hikes right out of the gate, excellent restaurants in the village with welcoming locals and we loved the bakery that's just up the road. We had three local dogs that hung out with us for our entire stay and even joined us on all of our hikes. The interior of the home is rustic but immaculate. The lofted bed is cozy and the bedding provided is very comfortable. The only thing that could have been nice to have would be a couple of sun loungers as sitting outside and enjoying the stunning views is what this place is all about. Highly recommended.

I booked the space for a bachelor party. I can say that all 11 people were extremely happy with the house, the availability of Mr. Marcos and the rest of the team, the cleaning, the amenities and especially the location of the house. It was exactly what we were looking for, for the kind of vacation we wanted to have. We were always very well advised, informed, well received, we wanted for nothing. A beautiful land, with activities and places to visit. Good value for money for those looking for a beautiful getaway from city life. Many thanks so much thanks so much. We will return.

A great location in the countryside 45 minutes from Porto and 2 hours from Pinhão. Beautiful scenery , hiking around. Home is on a hill with amazing views of the Douro River. Beautiful outdoor space with outdoor kitchen and a small pool. Excellent for family vacation.

An unbeatable experience! Ainhoa's house exceeded our expectations. The views are spectacular, especially at sunset, when we could enjoy beautiful sunsets through the huge windows of the living room. The surroundings are very peaceful and the location is perfect for disconnecting and relaxing, but at the same time it is close to everything you need. The heating worked wonderfully, which made our stay very comfortable even in the first days, which were cooler. But, without a doubt, the best thing was the communication with Ainhoa. From the first moment she was very kind, attentive and always willing to help us with any questions or recommendations. We'll be back for sure!

We had an absolutely incredible stay! The house is even better than the pictures, and our host could not have been more wonderful, flexible, accommodating and welcoming. A few highlights that aren’t immediately obvious: fresh bread delivery every morning, kitchen is wonderful and very easy to cook in, charcoal grill outside is fantastic - and lovely for grilling fresh fish in! (ask if fish is available from the local fish monger!). You can also easily do a day trip into Porto from this hidden paradise. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Ricardo and his father Mario, or this amazing villa!

A comfortable cabin with the most amazing view

Beautiful accommodation in a quiet area, you can relax directly overlooking the hills from the balcony or the pool. The pool and garden are shared with the guests of the neighboring house. We were able to work well because the internet was sufficient. Exploring the village and surroundings was exciting for us and the dogs every day. In May, it all bloomed around. Depending on the weather in the house a little cool, so take a sweater with you. We will be happy to come back.

had such a lovely stay here! The place was incredibly nice, cozy, and spotlessly clean you can really tell the hosts care about every little detail. What truly made the experience special, though, was the beautiful natural surroundings. The trees around the property were absolutely stunning and added such a peaceful, almost magical vibe. One of my favorite parts was being able to hear the river flowing in the distance it created the most calming background sound, especially in the early mornings and evenings. If you’re looking for a serene, nature-filled getaway with all the comforts of home, this is the perfect spot. I can’t recommend it enough!

this is truly one of the most beautiful and unique places we have ever stayed, a piece of paradise handmade by Armenio. The former watermill has been beautifully converted into a nice BnB with comfortable bathroom and great bed. The first night is for us city people still getting used to falling asleep to the sound of a waterfall, but after that you sleep wonderfully. You feel alone in the world in this little green paradise, which is beautifully landscaped in every way: the terraces, the outdoor kitchen, everything is wonderful. Armenio is extremely friendly and helpful. The dirt road to this oasis is quite challenging and long for a simple car and that is actually the only thing that could deter a somewhat hesitant motorist from choosing this place. It didn't scare us at all and we are glad that it is so. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely return

We've had an amazing 4 days here. It's just a perfect location and we felt at home here. The pool, the view, the garden with grill - everything was just perfect. The only 'negative' things, if you can call them negative, is that the bathroom is on a different floor than the bedrooms, and that the parking is a bit tight for a large car. We can fully recommend this place to anyone looking for a private getaway in a beautiful location.

Such a lovely experience. Marissa was so welcoming and answered all of our questions. We enjoyed the countless recommendations such as the local bakery (San Miguel was our favorite), and the 516 Suspension Bridge. The AirBnb was cozy and so lovely that we really felt at ease and comfortable. We will definitely keep it on the list for future travel!

From the beginning, the hosts were very responsive to questions. The apartment is small but it’s extremely clean and the terrace makes up for any needed space. We loved sitting outside in the evening before dinner. The apartment is located in a very “hip” part of the city with many types of restaurants, cafes and bars. Lots of young people in this area - it’s a great vibe. Walkable to all attractions and there is street parking which was a great benefit for us.

We only stayed for one night on our way to Portugal but it was absolutely perfect, spotlessly clean, and cosy. The bed and bedding were the best we have experienced in an Airbnb. Thank you Paula and David for being such lovely hosts.

When we first saw Mario’s place and the fact it was a perfect five stars from all previous guests - it was difficult to believe. But we immediately upon arrival understood why this was a perfect 5 stars…this is an incredibly special property - from the streams, waterfalls, history as an olive press, trails, peacefulness - this place was absolutely one of a kind. All in our group agreed this place, of all the places we’ve stayed in the world, was truly truly special….if we could give more than 5 stars - we would. Mario and Cila were fantastic hosts and incredibly responsive and the amenities and nice touches throughout made us feel right at home - better than home. Such a wonderful stay.
