Oakchester Cottage on Bruny Island
Built in the 1860s by Englishwoman Antoinette Pignon Powle, the cottage is one of Bruny Island’s oldest homes. Originally called Oakchester, locals know it as Mr. Wisby’s Cottage. Antoinette left for the Holy Land and never returned, leaving her neighbor to care for it. Restored inside and out, the cottage has two bedrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs), dining/kitchen, living room, outdoor entertaining space, and bathroom/laundry with walk-in shower and claw-foot bath. Minimum two nights stay.
