Bald Head is unlike anywhere else, and this is a fantastic place to experience it. Sitting atop a nice bluff, the views are exquisite. The nearby beaches are easy to access, expansive, and very few people around. The house itself is comfy and cozy. It has its quirks like any house does, but the kitchen has all you need, and you get to cook with a view. The island itself has a lot of maritime forest, nature trails, biking, and kayaking if you’re not accessing the clubs. Plenty of supplies at the market, and a few good spots to have a meal.

A Bird House-Bald Head Island maritime forest gem

Wow! What a marvelous house! Perfectly nested amongst the natural flora of the island, A Bird House is the most marvelous getaway (aptly named, too!! We saw so many cardinals!!). Tucked away off of a quiet street, the house is everything and more described in the listing. Marcella and Tom are wonderful hosts; responsive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed! I could rave about this property for paragraphs, but the bottom line is: Rent this house, you’ll have the BEST BHI experience. We’ve been visiting the island for 25+ years and this is our FAVORITE house! I can’t wait to come back.

We stayed for a long weekend and absolutely loved our stay! Beautiful house, nestled in the middle of restaurants & beaches. Kitchen was fully stocked (save for a wine cork) and allowed us to cook a few meals, which we enjoyed on the screened in porch. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a great stay! This condo is in the center of the island, very close to the market, beach, and both clubs. We did get the BHI club access for while we were there, but honestly we didn't really need it! The beach was great, and the pool at the community was convenient for afternoon swims. The loft stairs do not have a railing on the outside, so it was a little tricky to get up and down, but not something that you can't overcome! Overall we had a fantastic time. The bikes were great. The golf cart was great. And the kitchen was stocked full of everything we needed to cook meals everyday.
