Cottage vacation rentals in Amherst

We did a last minute weekend with our 5 and 2 year olds and Catherine’s place was perfect. The bedrooms being upstairs away from the living area meant it was nice and quiet for the kids, they had life jackets in all sizes, and we visited a fun children’s museum 15 mins away. We had a few questions during our stay and Catherine was always quick to respond and super helpful.

Truly a magical spot--in October, the fall colors. Any time, the lake view, and the absolutely lovely sunroom.

We had the pleasure of staying at Matts place for a weekend getaway that included 6 women. Matt was such an amazing host from start to finish. Beautiful home with gorgeous landscaping on the lake and is set up with everything you could possibly need. The home was immaculate inside and out and was truly even better in person than the already beautiful photos provided. We intend on making this our yearly destination spot! We can't thank you enough for being a super host !

Loved the location, the cottage, the views the furnishings and just had a totally relaxing peaceful stay. Would go back in a flash. Wished we had booked longer and thoroughly enjoyed our brief break from general life.

Bill’s place was perfect for our family as we celebrated our son’s graduation. It was clean and there were enough bedrooms and beds for everyone, a beautiful live edge table for all of us to gather for meals and plenty of common spaces.

Just before we left for our short vacation, Daddy read to Mommy every night from a book about an enchanted April at the “San Salvatore” castle in Portofino, Italy. That was a magical place that touched the souls of its guests. So is the By Still Waters Cottage, which we now call “our San Salvatore” and plan to return to as soon as possible. --Sasha, a German Shepherd Mix rescue from Belarus; a world traveler, I look forward to frolicking again in Moore’s Pond.

This was the perfect spot for our mini vacation with our adult son and dog. The house was adorable and comfortable...the beds were especially comfy. The fenced in patio area and sun porch was so relaxing and although no one actually slept on it, the daybed was very comfortable as well. We enjoyed our day trip to Boston and multiple trips to Treehouse Brewery. Gwen's communication was awesome...such a terrific host! Hoping to stay again.

What a peaceful home away from home! Living the "lake life" for a week was relaxing, beautiful, and fun to explore the lake on foot or the water! It was perfect for what we were looking for!

A great place, exactly as described. Pub at end of drive is convenient and delicious. Absolutely anything we could have possibly needed was thought of and made available. The retro feel made me think of family cabin stays when I was a kid . We played Apple to Apples and put together three puzzles in the evenings, all were provided. Although a quirky older cabin (in a great way), we loved loved loved the character, and it was super clean! Way up in the hills, so natural areas are close and spectacular. Plenty of things to do within a drive, which is a visual treat in itself. Saw black bears twice as we were out and about. Nothing fancy, but for us it was just what we wanted/needed. This place was everything it was said to be. it was clean and very cozy. Kyle had a booklet with useful information about the cottage, restaurants and local attractions.

We spent a weekend in this beautiful house in early spring. The house is amazing and has everything you need. The view is amazing and the pond invites you to fish or watch birds. It‘s calm and relaxing. Would love to come back here soon and spend more time. Kelly and Claire have been amazing hosts and a nice contact.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The hosts thought of everything and made us feel right at home. We could not have been more pleased and would highly recommend this property.

2nd time staying here, lovely little spot on the river. Well-priced and met our needs. Best for 1-2 travelers and folks who either have a car or don't mind the easy walk into town. I'll likely stay here again when I next visit Bratt!

What an amazing stay! The place had great games and the porch was such a treat. The view from the fire pit was so relaxing and we enjoyed toasting smores while overlooking the lake. We ended up taking the folding chairs and playing catch by the lake, which was only a short walk away. Robert was responsive when we asked where to get firewood. We also enjoyed the Sturbridge coffee house and Maine Lobster (we liked it so much, we went twice)! We ended up going to the farmers market and flea market, which were great finds. Overall, a great stay with the kitchen utensils, bathroom necessities that you’d need. Close by the lake and a great neighborhood!

Oh my gosh! We wish we'd been able to stay another couple of days! This place and location are incredible. Beautiful cottage on a beautiful lake with a fire pit and kayaks available for guest use. Absolutely stunning!

I stayed at the cottage for two nights with friends. It suited our needs well, providing a comfortable place for us to visit. The hosts were very accommodating and helpful. The nearby train did not seem to run over the weekend and we only heard it on Monday, late morning. Parking is definitely a little challenging in the snow but location is convenient and quiet. I would happily stay again if I am in the area.
