Family-friendly vacation rentals in Akumal

Lovely condo and great location!

Mahayana will forever hold a sacred place in the hearts of my wife and me. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with care, setting the tone for what became one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. Tulum is pure magic! Even before our arrival, communication was thoughtful making check-in effortless. We were greeted with a tour of the beautiful beach community, and the staff made us feel right at home. Every evening, we fell asleep to the sound of the ocean…so close it felt like the waves were crashing right inside our room. It was soul-soothing. Housekeeping kept our bungalow pristine, always refreshed and ready after long days exploring the sacred cenotes, vibrant culture, and breathtaking nature of Tulum. The location couldn’t have been more perfect, close enough to everything, yet tucked away enough to feel like our own private sanctuary. We are grateful to the entire team at Mahayana. Thank you for creating a space with so much love!

Everything is great about this place. The ocean view is beautiful and worth looking at. At night you can hear the waves crashing and it's a relaxing sound. Also late at night you can see many stars in the sky which makes a great sight. There aren't many critters in home like the geckos and insects. Also around the house are iguanas that are very friendly and mind there own business. Don't worry they won't bother you. The locals are also very friendly and like new visitors. Overall I found this place wholesome.

Nancy was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and generous with her spectacular home. Our casita had all the little and big extras to make us completely comfortable. We were combining relaxing and working remotely and had excellent wifi speeds and the ability to take a break and swim some laps in her 25 meter pool! Nancy is so generous with her space— it almost felt like we had the whole gorgeous property to ourselves!! And she introduced us to a local Mayan liqueur that we now love — thank you for everything, Nancy!!!!

The proximity to town and restaurants is perfect. The dolphinarium surrounds the town which makes it fun to just walk to town for food, ice cream, drinks ETC. The unit is feet from the Ocean, pool, and more lounge chairs than people. Their is also plenty of shade for us fair skinned people who cant stay in the sun all day. The unit itself is well appointed with good TV for those seldom seen rainy times. Pesca herself rounds out the packge with her pleasant proffesionalism.

Beautiful home right on the beach, with comfortable suites for the whole family. The house is exactly is pictured. The location can't be beat - steps lead from the pool area directly into the sand on a gorgeous, quiet beach. It was really nice to have the kayaks and paddle boards, we took them out almost every day. Snorkeling on the reef out front is great. Easy access with a car to Tulum and many local attractions like cenotes and ruins. The host is very responsive and the caretaker Kevin is friendly and helpful. We hope to return again with the family soon.

The place is just as described, very nice and clean. Dan & Mariana were very responsive, making sure we had what we needed and were super flexible with checking in and out. 5/5 stars, I would absolutely book again!

We had a wonderful stay. Everything went off without a hitch , and when we had some minor questions (like how to use the induction stove) Kathleen was very helpful and responsive. We will be coming back!

Gustavo's place was just what we needed. Don't expect 5-star service, rather authentic Mexican living in an amazing place with 5 different outdoor locations to chill. There are leaves (it's a jungle paradise), and be careful for occasional branch that may fall. It's beautiful, serene, peaceful. There were also some bugs in the back (but it's a jungle paradise and we were there in May); one of the many terraces has a bug curtain that helps manage that. It's shady in the back, full sun on the shared rooftop (we didn't see anyone else up there). It's not a tourist neighborhood FYI! I've been to Playa del Carmen 4 different times, and this place was the best! Also the best local food close-by. So relaxing, and so many birds that sing all day! We spent most of the time in the casa. Pool has to be skimmed (the yard's greenery is spectacular -> leaves), but Gustavo is very responsive and helped run the filter mid-week as well. Gustavo speaks Spanish, use Google Translate if you need it.

this was our second time staying at this property! we love the location as it is quiet yet close to everything you need! if we get back to Cozumel, we will definitely be booking a third time!

Great place right near the entrance to Playacar Phase 1. The main living area and kitchen space felt very roomy and spacious. A great place to spend time as a family. There are two very large balconies (pool view and street view) that make for a perfect place to relax. It's a small condo complex so we always had the pool to ourselves. Easy access to shopping, restaurants, and the Cozumel ferry. You need to pass by security each time you come and go from security, so it feels very safe but is slightly annoying.

I had a great stay at this condo in Tulum! It was clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. The host was kind and responsive, making everything easy from check-in to checkout. Would definitely stay again!

Jessica’s place is super conveniently located in downtown San Miguel de Cozumel. Many restaurants were in easy walking distance. Yet, it was very quiet. For scuba divers, it’s a great place because of the large rinsing sink and loads of space to dry your stuff outside. Jessica providing many recommendations for restaurants in the area. She also arranged a diving guide for us. The apartment is spacious with a bedroom and separate open area for the kitchen, living room and dining room. It’s not fancy but it totally fits the bill after a full day of diving. We would go back in a heartbeat.

This was an amazing stay! We even overheard a couple staying at an all inclusive when we were at a different beach, they did not enjoy that hotel as much as they did at the Residences Reef. Host was very responsive as well. Overall highly recommend!

The location of this condo is great! We stayed with our two boys and felt like we had the best portion of the beach right in front of us. We explored the area as well and it was an easy drive to Tulum, Playacar, and several cenotes and ruins. Felipe was very responsive and helpful when we asked for a crib for our infant and the housekeeper, Karina, was very personable and a pleasure to meet. Absolutely loved our stay and would happily return!

Sweet place right on the beach. Enjoyed our stay. Just needed a private outdoor space. Felt a bit closed in after a while. But that’s just me because I was sick. Loved Akumal and the nice quiet vibe there!!

Fantastic property inside an incredible community.

Aaron was a very responsive host and accommodating of all that came up for us! The natural surroundings were beautiful and calming. The pool was small but very nice as well—natural and refreshing There were neighbors playing loud music once or twice in the night which was a little disruptive but it didn’t go too late. The road has a lot of potholes, but it was fine when we went slowly. Spiders and bugs here and there but felt fairly protected by screens Close to beautiful cenotes, great value, would definitely stay again.

The place was wonderful We had a relaxing weekend We were able to grill meat on the grill and although we had a little seaweed we were able to enjoy the beautiful private beach that the apartment has. They allowed us to bring our dogs and they were happy at all times The apartment is clean and super spacious. The bed was delicious!! And with a TV in the master bedroom Everything was excellent, we would definitely come back Thanks so much Nancy!

There are many reasons to feel that Akumal is a great vacation destination, and staying here is one of them. The unit is ideal for two couples; we managed just fine with the second bathroom not being an ensuite. There is everything you need, and many extra amenities we did not use. You feel at home in the unit. The private pool is wonderful, and the small nature of the complex allows for privacy and a feeling of security. Everyone who works at the complex is friendly and looks out for you. It is obvious that the owners care. We particularly appreciated their flexibility. If we are lucky enough to return to Akumal, we will check availability, and stay again.
