Absolutely perfect stay! The house was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The hot tub was the highlight—so peaceful and private, surrounded by nature. We loved unwinding there after a day of exploring. Communication with the host was super easy, and check-in was a breeze. If you’re looking for a quiet escape with a touch of luxury, this is the spot. Already dreaming of our next trip back!

Stayed here while working and it was great. The house was very clean and I think the hot tub was my favorite part! WiFi worked great for if you have to knock out some work on your laptop. 10/10 stay!

What a gem! Our family of 5 enjoyed everything about our stay at Hillside Hideaway. Comfortable and cozy atmosphere, very clean. We all enjoyed the hot tub each evening and lazing in the hammock for some down time between hiking and sightseeing. The kiddos loved the books, games, toys, and swing. Rhonda was a great host with easy communication and very clear instructions about the home. We wish we could've stayed longer!

This place was the perfect spot in the middle of our camping trip. Peaceful water sounds and natural beauty while having a comfortable place to cook, shower, and sleep. Our kids adored the place and were pleasantly surprised at the number of rooms, games, and other amenities. We all loved the hot tub area. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for something comfortable but out of the way.

We had an amazing stay! The views of the mountains were absolutely stunning. The space was clean, comfortable, and just as described. We really enjoyed the short hike down to the river, such a beautiful spot. There was a grill and campfire set up right by the water, which we didn’t use, but it was a nice touch. Scott was always available to answer any questions, which made the experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quiet and comfortable getaway close to nature.

This 3 night trip was part of our 2 week trip visiting family in VA. We chose this house because we have a small dog and thought the yard would be good to have. The house was clean and the kitchen was very well stocked. Amy even left a nice little surprise for us. She answered all our questions and was very helpful. We enjoyed walking to the coffee house and being minutes from our son.

Absolutely perfect stay! We had a great time at Tyler’s place. The home was spotless, cozy and exactly as described (if not better). The location could not have been better for hiking, brewery and winery visits and the Mountain View’s were beautiful. Check in was easy and Tyler always responded quickly to any questions. Great location and the house felt large and uncrowded for 5 adults and a baby. Nice outdoor space with fire pit. Would definitely rent again.

Cozy, adorable little cottage close to downtown! It has everything you need for a short or long stay, and plenty of room for a doggo. Amazing shower and cozy bed! Only ‘complaint,’ which is not even one, is that it got chilly inside at night and the heater was a bit difficult to use to raise the heat. Overall a wonderful weekend stay!

We came into town for a graduation at Liberty University. The house is on a dirt road well off the beaten path (which I love). It was a very beautiful area, very peaceful even with neighbors nearby. We were delighted to find that the host gifted us a 6 pack of Bold Rock Cider, which oddly enough is my favorite cider (I’m gluten free). Everything was clean, with the exception of the inside of the fridge. My kids played their hearts out running around the yard, swinging, roasting marshmallows. My only complaint is the tiny showers, but I’m claustrophobic 😂😂 otherwise, we had a wonderful stay and would stay again!

This was our 3rd stay. As always we had a wonderful relaxing visit.

Great getaway for our family of 4! Our 5 and 2 year old enjoyed making s'mores by the fire pit, canoeing for the first time and walking the trails. It was amazing to wake up and have coffee on the deck and the mountain view from the top of the hill was gorgeous! I wish we would've had more time to explore the town but we had a great trip and would love to come back again!

This cottage is so magical! The area is amazing. Being able to walk right into town with all the shops, restaurants and bars is awesome. waking up and having coffee on the beautiful porch and listening to the birds sing is so relaxing and a great way to start the day. I said it last year, we'd be back and I know for sure we'll keep coming back and staying in the cottage. I am already looking forward to next year!!!

My family and I spent a lovely reunion weekend at Mark and Joe's Riverside Cottage and it more than exceeded our expectations! It is cozy and charming and right on the river. You can actually look down into the river from some of the windows and the deck off of the kitchen! The kitchen has everything you'll need to cook meals and included extras like teas, a Nespresso machine and condiments. The outdoor patio area was our favorite place to gather, and the property is perfect for walking and exploring and relaxing to the soothing sounds of the river. There is a very cool labyrinth to walk -- also on the river -- and Mark and Joe have the sweetest rescue goats and donkey that Mark let us feed! Definitely one of the highlights our stay. We truly enjoyed talking with Mark -- what a nice guy -- and both Mark and Joe were super responsive to our questions. My sister is already talking about going back! Don't pass up a chance to stay at this gem. You will not regret it!

Solitude was the perfect spot for our weeklong stay in Lexington for W&L graduation. We felt at home, loved spending time on the back deck, and enjoyed the beautiful sounds of the Maury! I hope to come back!

Perfect place to stay. We felt right at home. We actually took notes from the house for our own home we loved it so much. Very proactive with the dogs, having doggie bags and towels for them. Very proactive with our child offering books and crayons along with offering a pack n play. We absolutely loved it. The creek surrounding was the perfect touch for an early morning Bible read and mediation while the birds sang. Was able to meet Jan and her husband they were very friendly. 10/10 would recommend for any of your staying needs. We stayed with our 2 year old toddler, golden retriever and Jack Russel. It was perfect for us. We will be back for sure.

Peaceful setting with modern conveniences. What a beautiful place! From the gorgeous drive through the forest next to the river, to the majestic views from Kristin’s place. All of it brings peace to the soul.

Beautiful home very close to the Virginia Horse Center. Had a lovely time staying here.

Absolutely loved this place. The house is beautiful, well kept and comfortable. The kitchen was the best! Easy cooking dinner for 4 every night. Loved sitting on the porch , front and back, watching and listening to the birds and the sounds of Hays Creek rolling by. Very much enjoyed long walks along the gravel roads in this area and the views of the grass covered hills and farm land.

This was the perfect rural place for our vacation! We picked it specifically for its many options for entertainment there at the house with local places to hike. In the end, we thoroughly enjoyed the private swimming hole and relaxing to the sound of the creek. The drive to historic sites from the place was beautiful! I was quite impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was, including spices beyond salt and pepper. We were also pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the beds were. We did have a couple of hiccups during our stay, but Scott was very prompt and responsive in going above and beyond our expectations. He deserves 10 stars as a host! I would be very happy to rent from him and Penny again!
