Mansion vacation rentals in Virden

I used to live on Vandalia Lake, so I knew what to expect from the location - but the house is much nicer than pretty much anything else you'll find in Vandalia. It was the perfect place to spend the weekend while celebrating my granny's 82nd, and it's very likely we'll rent it again in the future, assuming it remains available for that purpose. The main living/kitchen/dining area is wide open and great for hanging out without feeling cramped, and the screened balcony/patio is a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors without being forced to "enjoy" the bugs. Everything is light, airy, modern, and well-maintained. This isn't one of those listings where the photos look great and the reality is worn and dirty - what you see is what you get.

Wow! My wife and I were gobsmacked by how amazing this place was. The pictures did not do it justice. Was this way too much house for two people? You bet! And we loved every minute. The walkout basement with hot tub, sauna, arcade games and a lounge area that leads to a pond is a great place to hang out. There are plenty of rooms, many of them "mini suites" with attached sub-bedrooms and even an occasional sub-sub-bedroom. The surroundings are private and beautiful, the house was immaculate, the solarium is a lovely place to spend some time. There's a great deck (plus another one), lovely views, plenty of wildlife (including a wild turkey!) and the surrounding area is absolutely wonderful if you're into outdoor activities. The birding here is wonderful, with an incredible amount of long-legged birds, Wood Ducks, Mergansers, Kingfishers, and more just a few miles down the road, close to the river(s). We never realized how beautiful the Godfrey/Grafton area is - we'll be back!

Wow! Location location location! This is the perfect Grafton spot. You can walk to everything, including the skylift to take you up to aeries activities. There’s a bar next door and you can sit on the patio at the house and listen to their live music too. We were surprised that the kitchen was on the second floor, so if stairs are hard on you, do not book here. We had no problem though. The view is amazing as well. So many amenities here including a full coffee bar, and drinking water. Our group was just thrilled with our stay here. Thank you!

Three Pines was the perfect place to have our family stay for a local wedding. We utilized the house for a rehearsal dinner accommodating over 50 people. The place is breathtaking and has fine attention to detail. There is multiple bedrooms, with bathrooms to accommodate as well. Aubrey was such a wonderful communicator leading up to and during the stay!

HOSTS WERE GREAT AND ON TOP OF THERE GAME ANYTHING YOU NEEDED WAS THOUGHT OF AND THERE FOR ALL KIDS AND ADULTS MISSING A TOOTH BRUSH IT WAS THERE SNACKS LAYED OUT FOR GUESTS TRULY GREAT PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT YOUR TIME AT THERE PLACE MUCH APPRECIATED, WAS A GREAT TIME BEING THERE WE WILL BE BACK

We went out it to Sean’s place to celebrate my son’s 1st birthday with his brothers and cousins (6) total. As soon as we arrived they jumped right into the indoor pool which they loved. It’s a nice calm area to relax and get away from the busy life. The adults also had a great time we played ping pong, practiced our putting game, and got to unwind with all the kids in the movie room. Anytime I reached out to Sean he responded almost immediately. Overall we definitely book again

Wonderful historic home that is roomy and comfortable. Second time here and would certainly stay again. Beautifully appointed with great kitchen. Cute town with shops and restaurants nearby.

Charles was a great host. The house has been recently renovated and is clean and well stocked. Super comfy beds!

We were in Springfield for a horse show at the fairgrounds. The house was close for us and in a very nice neighborhood. The house was very clean, stocked well and had tons of room. There was a very nice new deck off the kitchen that we enjoyed sitting out on in the morning and evenings. Overall, I would highly recommend this house for anyone staying with a larger group. Lori

Our stay at the Grafton Getaway was perfect! It was the perfect place for a peaceful girls trip get away. Brandon reached out before our stay to tell me about the different events in town and was extremely responsive when I had questions.

Coming from out of state for my nieces wedding, it was fantastic for all of our ext. family. We had breakfast in & an easy walk to Dukes Bakery!! Way Beyond plenty of room, 4 large bedrooms, huge dining room table & living room sectional. Great lay-out. The amenities were unbelievable, making us not want for anything. Speaking of that, Angela didn't leave a stone unturned! She truly is the hostess with the mostest!! Our communication/questions were promptly answered & she so wonderfully allowed us to check in earlier than the rules stated!! Both outside patios, front & back were so nice, great convo areas! Definitely a Gem of a Place & Exceeded All of our Expectations! Thanks for Everything Angela but mostly letting us Enjoy the Heart of Historic Alton in Your Fantastic Home!!

We stayed at the house as a midway point get-together between friends. The house was cozy and exactly as described. We had everything we needed to settle in right away and catch up with one-another. Thank you!

Beautiful house. I love the pond as well. I would love to come back when I’m not working, there are some of the biggest bluegill I’ve seen in my life!

Angela was very responsive and flexible on checkout which we really appreciated. It was a cozy comfortable place and the fenced in backyard was so helpful with my pup.

Towering Pines was the perfect spot for our after graduation family gathering. There was a place for everyone and their luggage. There was a coffee bar for the morning and snacks for us as well. Also musical instruments, games and records with our favorite artist. The big tables for eating or writing and sitting areas for our conversations were perfect. We slept snuggled in clean sheets. All of us enjoyed every minute. We will bring everyone we know back to this amazing comfortable and well decorated get away.

Perfect place to stay in Grafton! Within walking distance to so many great places to eat, have a drink, or get ice cream! The house has plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and an amazing front porch to relax and spend time together!

Angela was an extremely responsive host and had the place decked out the essentials that make a place feel comfortable and cozy.

The house was really beautiful and unique. No problems with anything in the house other than 1 TV but there were many others. Only recommendation is for that size of house would be nice to have an oven and really need more than one small shower. Everything else was great!

Ryan went above and beyond to make our stay stress free. She decorated a Christmas tree with my son’s team colors. She was responsive to questions and just genuinely an amazing host with a great spot to stay.
