Palmento Etna-Taormina:wine passion

The loft is located inside an old Sicilian farmhouse dating back to the mid-800 and completely renovated, further comprising a large plot of land with wineyard and olive trees in cultivation. The private apartment has been taken over by an ancient palmento or millstone with a still working “Torchio” and the “chianca” in very good condition, which allows you to relive and appreciate the tradition of the original wine. The loft is a single large room in which there are the living area and the night area, all furnished with antique furniture in typical Sicilian style. The dining area, derived from the old tank to collect the mosto, is composed of a made-in kitchen with Cotto and new appliances. From the main stair it’s possible to go in the upper area, where you can find the bedroom with a large double bed and points of light, and the living area with comfortable sofa-bed, the TV and the DVD player. Inferiorly instead you go to the “Tina” or winery below a trapdoor. As per tradition, this setting was intended to preserve the Mosto for fermentation to ensure the organoleptic characteristics of a good wine. We'll find a pleasant welcome gift of a bottle of red wine of our production to be savored at the arrive in the loft. The bath loft has the shower and opens into a room, used as a wardrobe or closet. Outside you will find yourself on a terrace with a sitting area with table and sofa under an umbrella where you can observe the Etna in all its splendor: you can also observe the lava flows of Mount Etna Nord sitting in your own chair. Coming out of the main door or following the outside space, you get to another courtyard full of flowers and greenery, where you can eat. The view of the house offers a landscape of the magnificent Etna Volcano and the sea at the same time. There is a familiar context with a beautiful vineyard, some olive trees and fig trees. The property includes an old stony ground (called “pietraia”) from where you can have relax looking at the birds and the Etna’s squirrels. Despite the hot season, the climate stays mild and fresh. The villa is located in an enviable location, close to the greek theater of Taormina and Isola Bella (20 min) and “Piano Provenzana” of the Etna (25 min), where you can ski or go hiking (by feet, jep and quad – we’ll suggest you the right way). You can easily reach the old town center of Catania (40 km), the Alcantara Gorge (18 km), the sea “Cottone” in Fiumefreddo (15 min - 10 Km) and Randazzo (30 km). It’s possible to reach also Maniace with the Nelson Castle (35 km) and the golf courses of “il Picciolo” (7 km). The nearest supermarket is located about a mile away from the house. The center of Linguaglossa as well as that of Piedimonte Etneo, are close enough from the villa, about 2.5 km. In these villages you can visit beautiful churches and you can find traditional food (Salsiccia, meat, paste di Mandorla, granita and much more) and everything you need (pharmacies, restaurants, bars, children's playground, tennis courts and football).
