“Our midsummer plans were interrupted by Covid19 - so we were excited to try a local getaway instead and spend some time by the water. We didn’t expect too much, just wanted a place to rest and getaway from home for a while... but Eva and Ulrich created SUCH a wonderful weekend for us and our dog. We spent most of our time swimming and exploring the “udde” of their island that has lots of space to roam and be in nature. The walks around the property are very easy, so long as you do not require a wheeled mobility aide as there are tree roots and rocks typical for this environment. The sauna was an absolute treat, as it’s perched directly on top of the water so you can see out over the beautiful landscape of the archipelago. It’s a tradition in the Nordics to have a hot sauna, the go for a cold swim at the end of the dock. It’s so refreshing and good for the health! There are large windows all around the sheltered shower area (and curtains when you want privacy) that overlook the sea so you can sit and brush your hair or do your self-care routine while having a grand view of the surrounding landscape. The house is completely comfortable, even in very warm weather, as it sits beneath a few ancient Oak trees that provide perfect shade over the house, keeping it pleasantly cool. But there’s also sunlight on the picnic area directly in front of the house all day long. There were lots of books provided to read, all you need for cooking, paper towels a plenty, and access to yummy fresh drinking water very nearby. The bed was comfortable, and all linens were provided (which is not common in the Stockholm archipelago as you normally have to bring your own linens to a rented “stuga”.) Eva had even brought in fresh lilacs from her beautiful garden so the bedroom smelled fantastic!! ^_^ If you are not in good health, or unable to hike easily then it’s advised to take Ulrich up on his boat transport from the public dock directly to their private dock. It made getting between both docks very easy and he was very kind to offer up historical tidbits and a small tour around the island. Bring lots of bug spray in the summertime, as there are deer living on the island and much of your surroundings are shared space with them (and therefore the ticks they carry). Though Eva and Ulrich have done a marvelous job of clearing the areas directly around the houses, and the paths between the houses and the dock. But if you like to wander through the trees and grasses, like we do, be prepared with proper clothing and spray! The best for ticks is pelargonium x radens essential oil ;-) The gardens are especially impressive, with some of the HUGEST poppies I have ever seen, as well as beautiful peonies. There were adorable little fish everywhere in the water surrounding the property on all sides. And so many Roman snails! So cute and magical, it was like living in a fairytale! Can’t wait till we can return and stay in that oasis again. Thank you Eva and Ulrich!”

“Lena and Bo's place is a small oasis with the best possible location. We enjoyed the days of walking, swimming, grilling, sauna, showers under the open sky, resting hours in the hammock and tours with the rowing boat. Lena and Bo are super friendly hosts and the communication before and during the stay was good. Highly recommend this gem and can easily imagine going back. Good to know that this place exists if you need to get away for a while, get some peace and quiet and get close to nature.”
