Casa Bella- Retreat House

JackRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Marijana was an excellent host and we had a great time with our little baby. She was very accommodating and gave us lots of helpful tips and was very responsive. We also really appreciated Marijana providing a travel cot to avoid us having to bring one with us on our holidays. The amenities in the house are great and the welcome pack was very kind. The location is a bit out of the way, past some dirt roads and an industrial estate but the house makes up for it definitely and great for family time by the pool and outside oven. Ubers to old town were only €7 so handy enough

💎GREEN DREAM💎villa in SPLIT* discount September

vanessaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
If I could give this Airbnb 10 stars, I would! Ana’s villa was the perfect stay for our group of 9. The space is large, spotless, and the backyard is stunning. We loved relaxing by the pool and feeding the cute turtles with fruit and veggies. Ana was incredibly helpful, answering all our questions, recommending restaurants, and even booking one for us. She also arranged a fantastic driver for airport transfers. On our last night, Ana and her husband, Mate, prepared a traditional Croatian meal for us, accommodating all dietary needs. They even brought a birthday cake for one of our group—such a thoughtful touch! We were truly blown away by their hospitality. We can’t say enough good things about Ana, Mate, and the villa. We’re already talking about coming back. Don’t hesitate—book this place, you won’t regret it. Thank you for everything! – Your Canadian friends 😊

We just finished a week in Stobrec and we really recommend this place. Stunning view and location but in close range of all you need. Stobrec has a lot of great restaurants and there is a local feel to the area than we really enjoyed. In top of this the hosts were very friendly.

Apartman "M"

CatherineRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location was great, a short walk or €5 uber to old town. The apartment was so clean and well facilitated, and the beautiful view from the terrace was a highlight. Davorka was so friendly and helpful, and responded quickly to any of our questions. She had kindly welcomed us with some essentials like milk, coffee etc and we were really grateful for this! Overall a great place to stay and we would recommend to anyone visiting Split.

~IronGate~ Palace room~ Unesco Location

StevenRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This apartment was great! It was in the center of Split and surrounded by ancient stone. Although it was in the middle of the palace and above a very walkable section, it was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Branimir was an incredible host! Super communicative and helpful.

MAROEN 3 Lux Apartment Old Town

AnishRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We had a fantastic stay! The location was absolutely perfect—close to everything we needed, yet peaceful enough to relax and unwind. The interiors and furnishings were beautifully done—modern, cozy, and clearly put together with care. Everything felt thoughtfully arranged and spotlessly clean. Our host was incredibly responsive and accommodating throughout. She went above and beyond by arranging a baby chair for us, which made our stay with a little one so much easier. She was also wonderfully flexible with check-out timings, which we really appreciated. Overall, this place exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend to anyone looking for comfort, style, and top-notch hospitality

The heart of palace Riva luxury apartment

JonathanRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Place and location was fantastic. One comment is limit your luggage or items you have to carry to apartment. The castle area is amazing but you have to be able to navigate 4 to 5 flights of steps from street level. Host was SUPER awesome in helping us check in and even assisted with luggage.

Designer Eclectic duplex | Private Rooftop

BridgetteRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We reached out to explain we were arriving earlier than check in time. They couldn’t make any promises but recommended dropping luggage at a “Bounce”. It turned out the day of they reached out as the home was ready at 2pm which worked out for us. It was clean and offered a washer and dryer. Much slower than we are used to in the states but appreciated the dryer feature. We liked everything it offered. Thank you.

Central square "Stone Pearl Heritage" Luxury Suite

MargeneRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Robert and Natalija were great hosts. They were easy to communicate with as to location and checking in. Robert met us and took us to the apartment. The apartment was in a wonderful location in the middle of Diocletian’s Palace and very walkable to everything. It was extremely clean and had everything you would need for a long term stay. Unfortunately we only had one night. I would say this is one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in on Airbnb. If we are in Split agin I would definitely stay at Natalija and Robert’s place.

New deluxe center apartment

BobRating, 5 stars5 days ago
We loved Irenas apartment, it exceeded our expectations from the photos especially the outdoor verandah. Irenas husband met us with the keys and kindly helped us with our luggage. The stairs were not an issue for us but may be for others. The apartment is immaculate throughout and Irena left so many nice touches including some goodies in the fridge. It was pretty hot when we're there and we appreciated coming back to some nice A/C and being able to sit out in the shaded area of the balcony with a beer. Everything is walkable from the apartment and there is a small supermarket, nice bakery (left out the door then round to the right) and great focaccia sandwich shop all close by. If taking a taxi to the apartment the taxi cannot get to the door and will drop you about 30meters away which isn't a great problem. WIFI in the apartment was super fast which was appreciated. We did hear some sounds from the neighbours apartment at times but it wasn't a great problem. 5*Highly Recommended!

Luxury Studio Apartment in the Centre ( Kamarin)

ShenadeRating, 5 starstoday
Coming from the States, it is so nice to find a place where you can walk everywhere! we loved this spot as dinner, drinks, the Riva, the marina, beaches, coffee and activities were all walkable. The highlights of the spot for us were D16 coffee, Articok restaurant, Diocletian Palace, and having a supermarket in walking distance too. I cooked an awesome meal on our first night and the kitchen was fully stocked. We had everything we needed. Swimming at the beaches to the west and Forest Park Marjan were also great activities if you run or are up for longer walks. Beautiful place!

Your guide to Split

Welcome to Split

At first glance, this Croatian port town on the Aegean Sea seduces the eye with white stone buildings and red-tiled roofs, which glow against the bright blue of the sky and the Mediterranean Sea. As you wander down Split’s narrow streets, you realize that the buildings around you span two millennia, and you find yourself staring upwards, picking out architectural details from the Roman era, the Middle Ages, and the Belle Epoque.

Whether you’re visiting Split at the peak of its bronzed-beachcomber summers or during its moody gray winters, Croatia’s second-biggest city exudes a relaxed vibrancy. The shops and galleries along Marmont Street (Marmontova Ulica), as well as its seafood market, are bustling no matter what time of year. In the warmer months, locals and visitors alike while away the afternoon at the bars and cafes flanking the beach at Bačvice, or settle into open-air restaurant tables along the Riva, the city’s seaside promenade, for a leisurely dinner and plenty of crowd-watching.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Split

The mild Mediterranean climate of the Dalmatian Coast brings plenty of visitors to Split. Like most of the region, winter is gentle here, though no one’s shimmying into bathing suits for a long day on the waterfront — the regular rains and winds green up the hillsides and keep locals indoors. April ushers in a flower-filled spring, and the whole town turns out for Krnjeval (Mardi Gras), celebrating with masked balls and parades. From late May through early September, the dry heat begins. With little rain and temperatures in the 80s and 90s Fahrenheit, Split’s beaches and tourist attractions fill up, and the pleasure boats on the sea proliferate. Croatians and foreigners alike descend on Split in July and August for the Summer Festival, when some of the city’s most scenic sites host open-air concerts and ballets. If you’d prefer to see a more serene side of Split, book one of the area’s vacation rentals for mid-September through October, when the water is still warm, the days are still sun-drenched, but the crowds have gone.

Top things to do in Split

Tour Diocletian’s Palace

Few Roman sites from 1,700 years ago have the immediacy of the spectacularly preserved Diocletian’s Palace. Built for the emperor back when Split was a village on the outskirts of the more populous Salona (itself now in ruins), Diocletian’s fortress and imperial residence has been absorbed into the surrounding houses and shops. You will shuttle back and forth through the centuries as you wander through the ancient Cathedral of St. Domnius, arched passageways and gates, and the peristyle (central courtyard). Afterward, head to the Archeological Museum to peruse hundreds of Roman artifacts.

Take Some Island Time

You could spend a full year exploring the 1,200 islands off the Croatian coast. If you don’t have a year, take a ferry to Hvar or Brač, two of the biggest, not to mention the easiest, to get to from Split. Hvar draws the internationally rich to its azure bays and graceful villas, and you can wander around the medieval city of Hvar or escape in a car to more remote towns and beaches. On Brač, vineyards and olive groves stripe the mountainside on Vidova Gora, which you can summit by foot in just a few hours, cooling off afterward on Golden Horn Beach.

Climb Marjan Hill

Split is situated on a peninsula that juts into the Aegean, and an expansive natural preserve covers its western tip. A large hill divides the park from the residential neighborhoods on its east flank, and as you climb you’ll pass open-air cafes, a Jewish cemetery, and centuries-old chapels. Many locals treat Marjan as an open-air gym, and you’ll likely spot runners sweating up the steps and climbers feeling their way along the rocky bluffs. If you crest Marjan Hill and head back down on its north side, you’ll reach pine-shaded beaches suited for contemplating the sea rather than stretching out a towel.
