A light-filled gem. 2-story, 3-bedroom apartment with a gorgeous, rooftop verandah. Enjoy a relaxing and authentic experience at this centrally-located spot. Each bedroom has a king size bed w/ensuite bathroom, ceiling and standing fans. Fully equipped kitchen. Staff are available for shopping, cleaning and preparing meals. Tour the village and Lamu town. The beach is a 5-min. walk. Enjoy sunset, fishing, and snorkeling excursions, and amazing Swahili food at wonderful cafes and restaurants.

Our house, Catherine House has a large comfortable, relaxing rooftop terrace with a large dining table, two daybeds and a hammock. The house is situated two minutes from the historic center of Lamu town, the big market and three minutes from the seafront. Find your way for a stroll in the lively narrow streets, shopping or some of Lamus restaurants, for boat trips to nearby beaches, other islands and villages. Beautiful Rooftop Apartment

Khayrat Apartment, located in the heart of bustling Shela village is the perfect stay for your Lamu vacation. Our top floor apartment is made up of two floors, the bottom one consisting of two ensuite bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living room and two balconies. As comfortable as this floor is, our rooftop is the place to be! You'll have a 360 view of the village, the ocean and the sand dunes behind Shela, including amazing sunsets and sunrises. Exclusive Beach House, Shela Lamu, Kenya

Located 100 m from the Indian ocean, the house consists of 4 en suite rooms amongst which 2 master bedrooms and 2 standard berooms. Please note that we limit the number of guests to a maximum of 6 in order to preserve the house, avoid stressing our staff and maximise your experience as a guest. Each room is self contained and has a queen size bed. Two of the master bedrooms have their own private outside verandah. The house is let with a Cook who does also all the shopping and a House boy.

Bone Idle

A rustic beach house, Robinson Crusoe style. At the southern tip of Lamu Island, the house faces the Indian Ocean as it rolls in along a great stretch of empty beach. An absolutely perfect place for simply doing nothing, one can nevertheless also lie on the beach, float out to sea or take long walks across the island. Lamu, centuries old, and the most ancient Swahili settlement on the East African coast, is just a 30 minute boat ride away.

Lovely house and great location within Shela. We had 4 children and there was lots of space for them too. All the staff were super friendly and Ali is a fantastic cook. Would recommend

We had a great stay! Thanks to Ivor and to Jonathan and Johnson the housekeepers. It was easy to walk to both Lamu town and Shela, or get water taxis. The pool was great and there were fantastic views from the balconies. The bathrooms and kitchen are a little bit dated but completely fine. The house is beautiful and amazing decoration. Highly recommend for an affordable option, great for exploring and relaxing.

Jua House B&B Double Room

Jua House, exudes calm and tranquility. Pale colours and clean spaces invite book reading, chilling and time to unplug. Amani and his team couldn’t be more helpful. Hot showers after a morning swim in the sea, Belgian waffle towels and a banquet style breakfast was our daily morning routine. After this we retreated to the top floor with views all around. The hush of the sea stirs in the background. Fresh baking bread wafts up from the bakery on the ground floor. Village life occurs around about, so you feel part of the Shela community, who are welcoming and helpful. It feels like a privilege to be here in Lamu. Thank you.

We had a great stay! The location of the house is excellent, and Millicent was incredibly helpful throughout our visit. George and the staff at the house were warm, welcoming, and cooked delicious meals. Overall, a great experience!

Ndege Beach House was the perfect place to relax for a few days after a long stay in Shela - a very peaceful spot right on a gorgeous stretch of beach overlooking Shela. Beautifully designed and very comfortable- we slept so well here! We enjoyed being able to wake up and tumble into the sea- but also enjoyed the lovely swimming pool. The staff were so kind and helpful - we had some lovely meals. The internet was great- we were working remotely and there are plenty of areas to hide away. Suzanne was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!
