Pumbao House: A Stunning Villa With Swimming Pool!

KateRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We loved our stay at Pumbao House. It was perfect for our family: two parents and three young adults. It was our final stop after an few weeks traveling through Kenya, and provided the peaceful, casual, comfortable space we needed. We enjoyed every meal cooked by Mwembe, and left the decision making up to him. It was not hard to say "yes!" to "catch of the day"! He and Alex made us feel at home, and were so helpful in every way. Every bedroom was spacious and had an en suite bathroom. We used the pool every day, as well as the outdoor shower. Peponi's was just a few steps away and provided the perfect place for a "sundowner" and a card game at the end of each day, before returning to the house for dinner. I would definitely recommend this house for a family or couples/families traveling together. We created amazing memories there, especially up in the "crow's nest" at the top of the house, where we lay on deep comfortable cushions to look at the stars. We will be back!

Jane was very helpful even before our trip, her house, Jaha is definitely prettier than the pictures. She has done a good job with the interior and she a nice collection of books you can read while relaxing. James the chef made such tasty meals, his soups are a must have šŸ˜… Juma was also very proactive and he helped us around the Island. Jane has done well with her team, including Nasir who picked and dropped us at Manda Airport. We had a such a lovely stay.

Mbibo House in the Shela Dunes with Pool

ClaraRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Our stay at Hannah's villa in Shela was nothing short of a dream - my friends and I felt right at home from the moment we stepped foot in her beautiful home. Hannah was extremely helpful from start to finish, giving us great local recommendations and helping us book activities on the island, and checking in once in a while to make sure we had everything we needed. Surrounded by beautiful views of the Shela dunes, the house's architecture was like stepping into an Architectural Digest magazine - the bedrooms and bathrooms were pristine and incredibly comfortable, relaxing by the lovely pool was dreamy, and Lawrence's delectable cooking did not disappoint (still dreaming of his famous ginger crab and fish curry!). We were sad to leave but are looking forward to staying again soon!

Mauroā€˜s stay is a wonderful oasis in the midst of Shela. We thoroughly enjoyed the location the picturesque views from the top balcony and the cosy kitchenette on the main floor. The bedrooms were comfortable, clean and spacious en-suite’s. Miss Dama the housekeeper is an excellent cook, we really enjoyed her peppered fried fish and mango avocado salad, very recommendable. Mauro was an excellent host, extremely quick to respond, offering hints, tips and advice for Lamu. I would definitely recommend Mauroā€˜s stay in Shela!

The building itself has been created and reflects traditional Swahili architecture. The bedrooms feature famous Lamu beds accompanied by other Lamu furniture. The allover coastal style brings you quickly into holiday feeling. The staff Michael and Paul are helping and attending. The yellow fish curry from Michael easily would win awards. we had a great time. Asante sana for having us.

Beautiful beachfront ForodhaniHouse

DevonRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Spectacular. I don’t think any words can justify our incredible stay at Forodhani House but I’ll try. The house itself is jaw-dropping. Charming Swahili architectural elements with an open floor plan that maximizes the 180 degree sea view. The bedrooms are generous to say the least, with well designed en-suite bathrooms that rival 5-star hotels. Yes. You will be wowed by how it looks. But the best part of the house is how it feels. The way it’s designed, the cross breeze flows beautifully through the entire property. And still, somehow the house isn’t the best part of our stay. The best part is the house staff. Without too much fuss or fanfare, the staff preemptively cared for our every need. They remembered how we liked our tea and how we liked the lights to be at dinner. 5-star service from beginning to end. Then there was the food. every meal prepare by the in-house chef Cylus left us speechless. We didn’t eat dinner anywhere else. Core memory stuff.

The apartment was fantastic, providing the perfect place to relax and kick-back in Shela. We particularly enjoyed the private upstairs area with various day beds and a hammock to enjoy the sea breeze and shade during the hot afternoons. Clinton was helpful with messaging and Swaleh was the perfect host at the property. We will be planning a return trip soon enough.

Jua House B&B Single Room

CarrieRating, 5 stars4 months ago
I instantly felt right at home. Thomas, Amani and all the staff were very accommodating and were responsive to anything I needed. The breakfast is amazing (make sure to try the banana pancakes and the vegetable scrambled eggs). They make almost everything in-house so you really feel like you're eating a home-cooked meal. The afternoon tea and snack was perfect while I needed to work remotely and the wifi worked very well in the common areas so I was able to get a lot of work done during my stay. The bed was comfy, the water was hot, the room was spotless and it felt like a home away from home. Thank you!

Forest House.(3).Single seaview rm.WC.Balcony.Gard

RobertRating, 5 stars3 months ago
Mama Aisha was super helpful and was available when I landed on the jetty, giving me someone to help with luggage and take me to the accomodation spot. I got one of the rooms looking over one of the streets but while seated I could see the streets and activities but those below couldn't see me. this proved great for doing work stuff and not feeling stuck in my room. yet, there was minimal noise beyond the occasional conversations and movement. I loved the spot though - I highly recommend it to others.

Kizingo Eco Lodge

TamaraRating, 5 stars6 months ago
I had a wonderful stay at the Kizingo Eco Lodge, I was completely thrilled and can really recommend it! The staff was very warm and helpful. The lodge is located at the end of the 12km long beach and is surrounded by dunes. The beach is very beautiful, quiet and you can swim there even at low tide. The restaurant and cabanas are all unique and beautiful, full of attention to detail and everything is locally made. Night Sky was very airy, large and had lots of pretty niches to linger in. The bathroom was also very large and beautiful. The food was excellent and the cook surprised me with delicious, creative vegan meals. Nicola built the lodge so consciously and sustainably, there were wonderful, locally produced natural care products in the bathroom. The lodge can be either reached by boat or by motorbike from Shela along the beach in 15min (KSH 1000 only one way), so that it's easy to go there just for the day, have a wonderful meal and cool drinks at the beach underneath the shade.

Ndege Beach House was the perfect place to relax for a few days after a long stay in Shela - a very peaceful spot right on a gorgeous stretch of beach overlooking Shela. Beautifully designed and very comfortable- we slept so well here! We enjoyed being able to wake up and tumble into the sea- but also enjoyed the lovely swimming pool. The staff were so kind and helpful - we had some lovely meals. The internet was great- we were working remotely and there are plenty of areas to hide away. Suzanne was very friendly and helpful. Thank you!

JamboHouse Lamu - self-contained, ground floor

SarafinaRating, 5 stars4 months ago
I had a fantastic stay at this accommodation! It was spotless and perfectly located for exploring Lamu. Arnold, the host, is incredibly friendly and always willing to help. He even created his own map of Lamu, highlighting the best restaurants, supermarkets, ATMs, attractions, and other useful tips. He can also organize any type of excursions, which is really convenient. Arnold is very communicative and truly dedicated to making your stay enjoyable. The rooftop area is perfect for relaxing, and the breakfast included in the price is amazing. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return when I'm in Lamu again.
