Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Sierra County

A perfect home for anyone who wants to embrace the beauty of nature, relax, whip up delicious meals, sleep comfortably, walk/hike, and play to your heart’s content! Our two families (4 adults, 4 kids) had a blast! The adults were able to cook, eat, and enjoy each other’s company while embracing the outdoors. The kids were never bored - between walks, hikes, pickleball, mini golf, arcade games, and more - they were active and enjoying life! The kitchen is incredibly well-stocked. The yard is so fun!! The host is responsive, helpful, accommodating, and friendly! Just know that there is not a working hot tub (photos show it, but it’s not an amenity). The house is perfectly located - walkable to town with its fun shops. This is the perfect house for a getaway!! Stay here, you’ll love it! :)

Amanda is the most responsive host I have ever dealt with. She is amazing and ridiculously responsive-from buying fans to stave off spring bugs that I was concerned about, fresh flowers, chocolate, cookies and a sweet note on our arrival, tennis racquets for the local club, beach towels, toys for the kids…..she even researched recipes when I was confused how to cook on the griddle and knowing that we might be washing sheets, left us spare sheets. I could go on and on and on but I am going to run out of characters. Suffice to say, you will be pampered in a beautiful house when you stay here. The perfect 5 star rating is well deserved. My friends and I were spending a few days in Downieville for Mountain Biking. Evan’s place was perfect. It was close to the town and bike shop, and restaurants. It was easy to find and a binder with instructions for everything is inside the home. We neglected to read the parking instructions because they were buried a ways back in the binder. We parked in the wrong spot initially but then a neighbor told us we needed to move. I found the instructions and moved and then put the instructions closer to the front of the binder.

Great house! Very comfortable for four couples or multiple families. Kitchen had everything you would need, AC works great on hot days, local swimming hole and close to town!

Great location and home was as depicted in the listing. Fun place for the family with the cornhole set up and board games for night time.

Tobias could not have been more helpful! I was not too familiar with the area and he really took me by the hand and gave me all the advice and support I needed. I felt well taken care of.

This was the third time I've stayed at one of Brendan and Megan's Valley House units, and like the last times my expectations were fully met. I've stayed in both units (I particularly like Unit 1, but both are nice!), and they were fully stocked with everything I'd need. And in the past, when I once needed some assistance from Brendan, he was extremely responsive and everything was taken care of quickly. I love the small town of Sierraville as well as the various parts of Sierra Valley and neighboring communities. Truckee is an easy drive away, and I find staying in Sierraville provides a wonderful "getaway" from the hustle and bustle of Truckee that can happen during the high season in Summer. I highly recommend The Valley House, with it's wonderful hosts!! The only very minor suggestion I would make is to provide a larger bathmat next to the shower; the current one is quite small, and something twice as large would be perfect! That said, I absolutely love the shower!

The lofts in Downieville are airy, clean, and well-outfitted. The bed is comfortable, and the queen fold-out in the living room worked well. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need. Downieville is our favorite place to visit in California and Sonya's lofts offer everything you need for a pleasant stay. Highly recommended!

The place was better than we expected! The place is more cozy and spacious than the pictures make it look like it to be. We enjoyed our stay for our weekend of snowboarding as it was only 30 min to Donner and Boreal! The host is friendly and responsive. Thanks for a comfortable and great stay! :)

Casey and Stacias place was great! Very easy check in with clear instructions. The cabin was so cute and cozy! Had a great stay and will definitely be back.

Easy in and out, relaxed stay, thank you. Great views of the golf course and mountains. among the tall pines. They do start the mowers at 7 a.m. on the fairway--but we loved the view and the quiet backyard with the deer wandering by.
