Cottage vacation rentals in Sherwood Forest

We’ve just come back from a short stay at Jacks cottage, this was our first booking through Airb&b so we didn’t really know what to expect, we needn’t of worried as we thought Jacks cottage looked even better in the flesh than in the pictures so did it disappoint. The place was spotless when we arrived which is great as it put us all at ease, we felt at home straight away. Jacks cottage is situated in a small and very quiet village, honestly there is no noise. We live in a busy town with road noise so going to sleep at night with no sound but the birds singing was lovely. The hot tub was a great way to relax after a day out walking and again was spotless. The cottage is in a perfect location to explore the Peak District with some amazing walks right on the doorstep, we particularly enjoyed Bakewell, The Chatsworth estate and finding the very local Robin Hoods cave ( what 3 words assets.joined.offer if you struggle to find it). Check in was really simple and directions to find the place were spot on. Communication was excellent and we felt that we could contact the owners if we needed to. We had a lovely stay and would definitely consider stopping again if visiting the area in the future. The house smelt freshly cleaned when we arrived and was in a peaceful location. It was great to have a small selection of toiletries as well as coffee/tea provided - thank you. Bed linen and towels were clean and smelt lovely.

We have just returned from a stay at The Stables. We both loved the accommodation and the location. The hosts made us feel very welcome and there was some lovely touches inside for when we arrived. The location is very peaceful and tucked away but also within walking distance of several pubs all serving good quality food for reasonable prices. We would recommend and come back again without question.

Very cosy, stylish and relaxing place to stay - lovely views, great pub 5 mins walk away and lots to do in the local area. Highly recommended!

We were lucky enough to stay at the Nook this weekend and couldn’t have asked for more. Wayne and Dave are so thoughtful with the attention to detail for guests to enjoy and really go the extra mile with thoughtful treats on arrival and ensuring you have everything you need. It really is a little treasure hidden away in the countryside - thank you for having us x

Karen & her husband were fantastic hosts. Both were really friendly & were able to recommend really nice places to visit & to eat. The Green Man which was recommended was fab & we got 10% off the meals with a card that was in the place that we stopped. The Hot Tub was fantastic & enclosed so was very private. The place was really clean, comfortable & lovely to stop in for our weekend away. Lincoln was only a short drive away. North Hykeham had a Co-op for grabbing essentials which was a 3 min drive. Karen gave precise & clear instructions for finding their lovely little place prior to coming & check in was super easy. Key code was provided & we was in. When we arrived, there was a lemon cake waiting for us, milk, coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, ceareals for a day, a loaf of fresh bread, butter & jam. Such a lovely surprise & wasn't expected. Thank you for a really lovely weekend.

Myself and three friend's stayed at Janes as we wanted to do a motorcycle tour of Derbyshire. The cottage is ideally located for that with off road parking . The cottage it self is lovely and homely. I especially liked the conservatory to sit and relax in. The cottage had everything we needed and jane even provided some basics to get us started on our arrival,milk,bread etc. Jane was friendly, easy to contact, about when you needed her but otherwise left us alone to enjoy our stay. 100% recommend Jane and her cottage.

Very walkable location! We stayed here because of chatsworth house and kept saying how much we love the area! The kitchen was stocked with essentials. The stairs were a little steep but nothing we couldn’t handle with a little bit of caution and the railing. Absolutely lovely stay! Thank you!

Emma was a fantastic host. Very friendly and welcoming. Responded quickly to our queries. The place was lovely with loads of walks. Not far from the centre of town. The binder of walks and amenities that Emma provided was an excellent touch. Would highly recommend!!

Jack was very friendly and responsive. We loved the cottage it was much better than the photos. The cottage had lovely characteristics and cute decor. My children also loved it! I would recommend Jack’s cottage to anyone. Hope to see you again sometime soon.

Great little cottage in the heart of the Peak district, perfect for our family to use as a base to explore Mam tor, Castleton, Bakewell and the Monsal trail. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare, so would recommend using the gravelled space behind the gates.

What a beautiful place, so quaint with lovely walks in the area too. Caroline was a great host, the brownies on arrival were just the icing on the cake

I will definitely stay here again when I’m next in Epworth. Hosts Liz and Ed are wonderful.

Charming cottage with a lovely porch at the back where we enjoyed a drink after a hard day's hiking! We loved the walks right from the door and it's a short drive to walks up Mam Tor, the Great Ridge and Kinder Scout. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, good mattresses, easy to cook in the kitchen and even a welcome basket full of goodies.

Beautiful cottage set in wonderful grounds with a playhouse for the little ones. The pool was great too. Such a great place to stay, and under 10 minutes from Ashbourne. Around 30 mins to kid friendly hiking/walking in the Dales. Highly recommend.

A fabulous stay. Beautiful, fully equipped, cottage. The little balcony with its view was something else - great spot for an early morning cuppa! The 6 of us had a great time for a special weekend, visiting The Piece Hall and Hebden Bridge. We would not hesitate to recommend and would love to come back.

We had an amazing stay in this lovely property. Stunning views from propery and very peaceful location to come back to after a day exploring/hiking all the close by attractions such as Buxton, Mam Tor, NT Longshaw. Met up with friends at RHS Bridgewater a bit further afield but worth a visit. Kitchen well equipped and spacious and enjoyed cooking with the view towards Rushup Edge. This was particularly spectacular with the recent strawberry moon in full view.

What a fabulous place! We were greeted by Socks the sheep and his two companions and that was the start of our welcome. The small garden was well-kept and the view was just amazing. We walked into the property and straight away felt at home. The lamp had been lit and everything was well set out and absolutely spotless. As we explored, we found a well-stocked firewood basket, a jug of fresh milk (in the fridge) and a tin which was full of really chocolatey brownies (yum!). The kitchen had oils, seasonings and well stocked cupboards which were full of every plate, dish and glass you could need. Jane had provided several tea towels, washing up liquid, cling-film, tin foil, paper towels and napkins. The bathroom had toiletries and big, white, fluffy towels. In the bedroom, the bedding was clean and crisp and best of all - the most comfortable mattress (away from home) that we have ever slept in. It really was a home away from home. Can’t wait to stay again.

John is a very good host with useful tips and good company together with Judiith. The cottage is lovely and the garden is absolutely stunning. Well-situated in the Peak District.

Really beautiful stay at Top Cottage! As soon as I walked in I wished I was staying longer! The cottage is kitted out to a really high standard and was spotless. Coming from a City, it was so peaceful to be able to sit in the garden and hear nothing but nature! Loved everything about this stay and have saved it for future UK visits :)

Have just come home from the most perfect stay at Rose Cottage. The pictures do not do the cottage justice, absolutely gorgeous! Fran is the most incredible host, so kind, friendly and helpful. And had thought of everything we could possibly need and so much more! We will definitely be coming back to stay at Rose Cottage, without hesitation. Thank you again Fran!

Just returned from a wonderful 4 night break at Harewood Cottage. The cottage was cosy, clean, beautifully appointed and an easy walk to the trails from the doorstep. It was very peaceful and private and to sit in the garden in the sun was a lovely, unexpected treat. So quiet, just birds chirping in a beautiful setting. Julia was a perfect host, thank you 🤩
