Family-friendly vacation rentals in Shelton

My family enjoyed their short stay at Camilla’s apartment. The apartment was a beautiful place.

We loved staying at this home - it was the perfect place for our group of ten. The outdoor space was definitely the highlight, with the pool & spa being our favorite part of the trip. The only thing to note is that we weren’t supplied quite enough toilet paper or paper towels, though I did not reach out for more - It was the last evening when we ran out and we were leaving early the next morning. The trash requirements were a surprise after booking, but going to the transfer station was easy enough, and it is listed on the house rules. Overall, an excellent stay and would absolutely return!

We had an event nearby and Brian’s place was a great base for us. Lovely and peaceful neighborhood. Brian was super responsive and reached out to us when the house was ready(before the official check-in time). Would def recommend to anyone!

We had a fantastic girls weekend in Southampton and loved Anthony's cottage. It was so beautifully decorated and cozy. We throughly enjoyed mornings with coffee and books in the sun room.

Victoria's place was wonderful! It was spacious and comfortable and gave our family plenty of room to spread out and enjoy our visit. Victoria was a very responsive host and made check in and check out stress free and easy! There was ample parking for our cars and the house was private - it was the "house behind the house" so we weren't subject to busy traffic noise on the street. (Got a little confusing for DoorDash drivers but we worked it out :D). I will book this same place next time I am up for an extended weekend with the family. Highly recommend!

Abagail was very helpful in getting settled. The house is full of interesting antiques and paintings. There was a wonderful view of the Litchfield Hills and a lot to do outside. It is rustic but it has every convenience of home. Great shower. Must have been a barn but now it is a museum of Art Nueveau treasures and stained glass. Very peaceful and slept great.

We had a wonderful time. The weather was perfect. The view of the water was everything and was accessible from nearly every room. The home was modern and easily accommodated our large group. Yet it was cozy and beautifully appointed with all the amenities you would ever want. It is ideal for children with every toy imaginable. There was a highchair and a pack and play for our toddler and child appropriate dishes. The kitchen was fully equipped and had 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers and 3 tables for dining. The beautiful pool and hot tub were in constant use. Mary is very thoughtful and assembled a ringed binder with important contacts and suggestions for dining, shopping and entertainment. Although there was no beach on the property there are nearby beaches. The towns of Guilford and (nearby) Madison are charming and well worth visiting. Mary was very accommodating and responded promptly to several inquiries.

We loved our stay at Chandra’s place, it was peaceful, super comfy and was close to everything we needed. It was great to enjoy a few runs locally and come back to the private garden and hot tub in the evening. The property was beautiful and well stocked with towels, soft bedding and kitchen equipment. I’d love to come back again in the future

We loved our stay here. It was the perfect place for two of us and our dog. The home was just as described, welcoming, cosy and well equipped, and we appreciated all the local recommendations. We enjoyed local walks, the lake, and the great dog park, as well as easy access to Middletown to visit our son. Elisabeth and Daniel were fantastic hosts!

Beautiful space both inside and outside. Location connected to the animal farm and bakery was so charming. Location was perfect for the family reunion nearby. Easy parking. Clear communication made the stay seamless.

Victor and Kim were gracious and amazing hosts. I was celebrating my birthday and they even had a card, a bottle of champagne, red wine and fruit. It was such a wonderful surprise! The house was so beautiful and the beach is just outside! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything one would need to cook for a family; there was a convection oven! We loved using the grill as it was memorial day. Bathrooms had rain showers. Beds were so comfortable and it was truly wonderful to wake up to a beautiful sunrise and to just listen to the waves from the deck or even the living room. We spent a lot of time outside, on the beach. It was home away from home.

Was in the area to visit family and this was a perfect location for me. Had just what my family needed to have a great weekend

My two girlfriends and I stayed at Marianne’s house for a weekend escape, and it was absolutely perfect! The house was clean, cozy, and easy to find. I especially loved the peaceful morning walks to the nearby coffee shop. Marianne was incredibly responsive and offered great recommendations for things to do in the area. Thank you so much, Marianne – we had a wonderful time!

Jeanne's place was perfect for my trip to Guilford. Excellent location, close to the Green and to the water, quiet, peaceful. The house had everything I needed and more, Jeanne was super responsive and kind, and the bed was comfortable.

We lived in the Hudson Valley before retiring to Maine. For the past 4 years, Sarah and Jonathan’s home has provided the perfect spot for return visits with family and friends and a comfortable place away from home. The house is tastefully decorated and provides all that we require for an extended stay. The kitchen is well appointed with utensils, dishware, pans, and a large assortment of appliances. A special feature in the home is the lower level room with a huge wrap-around couch, large screen tv and toys for the kids. In addition, the grounds are beautiful. The outside deck allows for time to enjoy the gorgeous view and the large yard is fun for romps with our little Havanese. Being close to the town is an added bonus: The Tribute Gardens, Marona’s Market, the little French restaurant (Cafe Les Beaux), Stewart’s for ice cream, The Merritt Bookstore + Toystore, various antique shops are places we frequent. Innisfree Gardens and Dover Stone Church are nearby. We love it here!

Monica's home is quiet, spotless, and oh so serene. It's a really pretty duplex with lush grass and trees all around while being only a short walk to Wesleyan, a short walk to downtown Middletown, a short walk even to the Connecticut river. The house is well ventilated, the kitchen is well stocked with staples and equipment. The shower has great water pressure (stronger than we are allowed to have in parched L.A.) We met our hosts outside and they let us know about the Middletown Pride Fest that was taking place the following day. Monica sent me a link for info. It was a blast with a really wonderful vibe that made the whole town feel welcoming to everybody. Just as our hosts certainly are as well. Highly recommend!

Everything was perfect for our girls weekend. This is the 3rd time we’ve used Laurie’s house and there’s obviously a reason we keep coming back. Can’t wait to go again.

We were absolutely charmed by this stunning house, surrounded by breathtaking nature and offering incredible views—especially over the lake. Every corner is filled with character and warmth, making it feel like a true hidden gem. A huge thank-you to our wonderful host Sandy, who was incredibly thoughtful and proactive throughout our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’ll be back without a doubt!

Michael’s place was amazing, means a few friends stayed this weekend for my birthday. He was always willing to help and very accommodating! The house itself is so beautiful and had everything we needed! It was our first time in The Hamptons and he gave us tons of recommendations!

The pool house is so cute and the outdoor patio is gorgeous and the perfect place to relax. Great place to stay if you want to stay near New Haven but also want to enjoy quiet away from the city. Sue is a responsive and very generous host!

Christine's place was nice and clean! We especially loved the fire pit and the pool. Upon arrival of the AirBNB Christine was waiting to meet us and show us around. This was something that was new to me in my AirBNB experience, but it was honestly so nice and so was she! Christine let me know that I could communicate with her for anything that was needed and asked for recommendations to make her place better. This place was so well-equipped, close to everything and it comfortably fit me and my 6 other friends! I would definitely book again with Christine.

John was a perfect host! Friendly, responsive and made us feel welcome. I took my 9 year old son and we had a great time fishing off the dock and kayaking. The kitchenette is lacking if you want to cook any meals but it didn’t matter in our case. Absolutely beautiful location!

We had a lovely stay at Roger and Amy’s place. The location was great - close to Southampton, a short drive from Sag Harbor etc. The home is charming and comfortable. The kids loved the heated pool and spent hours in it every day. Roger and Amy were also super responsive, with advice and help when we needed it including with a very sweet gift for our 3 year old whose birthday we were celebrating. All in - a phenomenal time!

Alice’s place was great! We’ll be back again for sure.
