Vacation rentals in Shafer

If you ever want a true lake house experience with all of the fun but none of the dreaded lake house chores this is the place for you. It’s cosy and comes with all the amenities. The owner is a genuinely nice person. You are within driving distance of several “oh fer cute” Minnesota towns and the lake is right outside your door!

This is truly one of the most beautiful and unique places I've been in the world. You can tell that this land has hosted sacred and ceremonial healing for a lot of people. The pictures don't do it justice; it just feels cleansing from pulling up the driveway. There are so many special curated places around the land with a few chairs in the perfect spot, a peaceful tiny table in the woods, a little trail to explore. We booked both the tiny house and the tent for a family connect, and it was perfect for the kids (3, 6, 8) to have so many different places in the creek, by the pond, in the swimming hole; we didn't have to go out for any other activities. It made me a little sad to come back to the city after; two days out there felt like a week and a different world. It is amazing to me that the hosts rent a place that is so obviously beloved and intentionally built; really a life-changing weekend for us <3

Our stay at Keith’s was great! Views of the water were wonderful. Check in was easy with the keypad, kitchen was well stocked, Keith was quick to respond when we couldn’t find things or needed help with the grill. As noted in the pictures and his description, one of the bedrooms does not have a door on it, and the walls don’t go all the way up to the ceiling. It gets all the noise of the living room/kitchen but it worked for us. We loved the kayaks and Keith even had a child life jacket! The water quality in the lake varied - not as appealing as I was hoping for swimming on our first two days but we had fun kayaking around the lake and after it rained on our last night, the water was much clearer the day we checked out. Note that part of check out is put all towels and sheets into the washer and start the washer. I don’t love that because inevitably I realize one has been forgotten and then have to figure out how to stop the cycle and add an item, but this is minor. Great stay!

We absolutely loved the all the intriguing and thoughtful details in this cozy and comfortable home. Surrounding area was peaceful and beautiful and it was a great location, not far from destinations but just far enough to have a quiet retreat that felt like home. Great value and Kelly was wonderfully inviting and communicative, while also respectful of privacy and space. Would love to stay again. 😊 thanks Kelly!

We had a wonderful trip to Kyle’s rental in Taylor’s Falls. The house was fantastic and exactly how we pictured it to be. The carpets and kitchen were a little dirty when we arrived, but certainly nothing huge to deal with. The front door with the keypad was a little difficult to deal with, but Kyle responded promptly when we asked for tips. Kyle always responded instantly if we had any questions or concerns, and the house was absolutely gorgeous. We loved sitting on the porch in the sun and enjoying the peace and quiet. Would definitely book again!!

Adorable Swedish cottage on North Lindström Lake. This is the second time we’ve stayed - my partner was unable to come last time, and I wanted to show her the interior design. I love Carol’s interior design in the guest quarters of the cottage, especially the birch stump legs on the bed and the Swedish decor. There are a bunch of kayaks on the dock including several for kids, so it’s perfect for taking our kids out (we came with five of them, ages 4 thru 11). My oldest was up and out on the lake the whole time. The kids’ bedroom is in the attic loft and very thoroughly stocked with toys and games; the hosts were very accepting of the sound level coming from the percussion section of the game room. Northwoods Roastery is next door, up the driveway on the Main Street also overlooking the lake, and stopping by their back porch for a cup of coffee became a morning routine for me. We look forward to coming back next time we stay in Lindström!

Just beautiful and cozy. Felt right at home and comfortable in this gorgeous house. Was bigger than expected. Kitchen was fully stocked and easy to make a meal. Beds were really comfortable. My kids loved the bunk and arcade games. Would love to come backs in the summer.

This is one of my favorite cabins I’ve been to. The only downside being that you can’t really walk down to the water. Everything else was fantastic. It was the perfect size for two of us and our dog. Lots of wildlife: we actually watched two snapping turtles lay their eggs by the fire pit. The surrounding towns are very cute, and Interstate Park is great for hiking.
