Essentials

We love everything about Trader Joes! The crew is super helpful so if you have any questions or want to try something just ask. Just make sure to bring the reusable grocery bags located in the cabinet under the coffee maker. California no longer provides free bags as a way of trying to reduce the garage we produce :)

Fashion Valley has a mix of high end stores (Tiffany & Co., Bloomingdales, Tesla) along with your everyday stores (Macy's, JC Penney's). It is an outdoor mall so recommended for sunny weather.

Parks & Nature

Balboa Park is home to more than 16 museums, amazing gardens and architecture. It is also home to the San Diego Zoo. It is one of our favorite spots to visit for a walk and picnic while our boys love to watch the airplanes land :)

Less than a 5 minute drive from our guest home, Mission Trails offers a wonderful spot to take a run or hike. We recommend driving all the way threw and hiking over by the dam.

This has quickly become our favorite beach in San Diego. It offers gorgeous, clean beaches along with a stunning view of the Hotel del Coronado. If you decide to walk along the other side of the Island there are equally spectacular views of downtown San Diego. The town of Coronado offers plenty of food options too, both $$$$ and $.

Recognized as a historical landmark, Cabrillo National Monument is located at the tip of Point Loma Peninsula offering skyline views of Coronado and much of the San Deigo coast line. It also is home to the Old Point Loma Lighthouse which can be toured. At the lower level there are also tide pools to explore.

We love the San Diego Zoo! If you have small children make sure you find the petting zoo early in the morning before the animals get tried of being pet ;) Also, there are lots of hills so make sure to wear comfy shoes.

We love this bakery, although on weekends be prepared to wait in line for 20 plus mins. The bakery has amazing breads, sandwiches and my favorite cinnamon rolls. What makes this bakery worth the drive is its location. Liberty Station is an old navy training facility that was restored. It has parks for kids, a walking path with views of downtown and bits of history throughout. It's a great morning stop before heading out to see more of the San Diego sites. FYI - Liberty station is large so Con Pane is located in the ARTS district.
