Tips from locals
Love our Zoo and go several times a week when I can. Great for walking and education and the gardens of the Zoo are even more amazing than the animals!
Trying to do the San Diego Zoo in one day can be daunting. I recommend hopping on the double decker bus tour first thing, it’ll take you all around the zoo in a half hour or so. From there you can walk back to any of the places that spark interest. We often walk to the back and ride the Skyfari…
Go for the animals, enjoy the stroll and don’t miss the plants! More species in one place than anywhere in the world! It lives up to its status as a world class zoo!
What's a trip to San Diego without seeing the ZOO! It is World-Famous for a reason.
Best zoo in the country. Really well thought out, maintained and curated. Unique plants from around the world, representative of the animals’ native foliage. Best info can be had on the bus or behind-the-scenes tours. Worth the extra money. Not a cheap outing, but well worth the money. Wear COMFY…
San Diego zoo is one of the best in the country! They also have the wild animal park in Escondido which is equally amazing. I suggest a two day park pass for those who love animals and want to experience both parks.

Come on... it’s the world famous San Diego zoo! Who wouldn’t want to check out lions, tigers and beers! I mean bears
The best zoo ever. Great walking trails and very well planned. The plants alone are worth seeing and the whole place is always changing. If you think you’ve seen it before, you really haven’t seen it. Every time I go there is something new to see that they have added.
This is one of the most authentically developed wild animal parks experienced. Walking through the lush 'heart of Africa'...the sights, the smells of the African indigenous flora, is very convincing!

“Sea world is more of a theme park and has a lot less shade then the zoo so make sure you bring lots of water and sun block. Have kids wear swim suits under clothes and bring extras cause there are lots of places to get wet. Go right when they open cause it does get crowded fast!”
