What a lovely place! After a 4 hour drive down it was definitely worth it. Katie had lit the fire for us for when we arrived which was lovely! The place was gorgeous and so clean too. Had such a homely feel and it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere! Perfect stay and the perfect host! Helped us with any problems we may of had and made the stay very comfortable so thank you! Would love to come back in the future.

This was a lovely place to stay. Relaxed, homely, cosy and quiet. The thoughtful touches from the host Helen, including having the fire lit ready for our arrival, were much appreciated . Only 25 minutes walk to the beach and 35 minutes walk to the Gosforth Hall Inn for their gorgeous pie and chips. The log burner was easy to use and kept the cabin lovely and toasty. Bathroom was also lovely and warm. It was great to wake up with the wonderful view from the big window and watch the birds have their breakfast as we ate ours. Would definitely return for another visit and explore the area a bit further.

This beautiful cabin is the perfect getaway for a couple looking for some time alone. Helen is a lovely host, who had lit the log fire for our arrival which warmed us up perfectly in the February weather. We can't wait to stay again soon!

What an amazing cosy homely log cabin. A very special long weekend for my partner and I as he proposed whilst having a drink wrapped up warm sat on the decking listening to the owl. I wasn’t really sure what to expect here. We needed somewhere to spend a night in Whitehaven prior to attempting to cycle the Coast to Coast, and the price was right. I was delighted with what I found. Access is to the rear of a large semi detached house on an ordinary street, up a couple to steps into a small conservatory which leads into the lounge/kitchen. There’s loads of room for two to sit in comfort, and the kitchenette has all the basics. We heated a ready meal in the microwave and used the same for our porridge in the morning. The accommodation has its own staircase leading to the bedroom and shower room. All well equipped and clean. Sometimes your heart sinks a bit in B&B places when you come across a laminated notice, but when it says “Please help yourself to extra towels” it’s rather lovely. Although we didn’t meet her, our host could not have been more obliging and I’d happily recommend this place, especially as a really good value stop over before an epic cycling trip.

Perfect location and base to explore the local area and to start the c2c cycle. Being able to store the bikes in the conservatory was a massive bonus (and one of the many reasons we booked). Marie was a great host! Thoroughly recommended by us.

Marie was so helpful right from the word go, especially with restaurant recommendations! The annexe was lovely and very clean! We found the local menus and attraction brochures a great touch. In all, we had a great stay and hope to return!

Ideal for cyclists doing c2c

We had a lovely stay at the annex - it had everything we needed, great value and was the perfect start to our cycle trip on the C2C.

Nathan's cottage is a really cool space, decorated so well, cosy, warm and full of character! It had everything we could want on a classic Cumbrian weekend away. Great communication before hand, we might well visit again! You'll love it.

A fantastic find. Superb accommodation in a beautiful house. Joy is a wonderful host. Off street parking is a real bonus on the narrow streets of St Bees, a place not to be missed.

Great location for walking scarfell pike, accommodation was to a high standard and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend ! Plenty of pubs nearby and Whitehaven only 10 minutes down the road with large superstores. Off road parking included.

Nathan and Stef are lovely welcoming hosts who have a wonderful and unique home and are more than happy to share it with their guests.

Nathan’s place has it all: super close to the railway station, opposite the Manor where I had a good dinner, and of course close to the start of the C2C. Nathan’s is an immaculately clean home and you are made to feel at home, too.

Stayed here the night before starting the Coast to Coast. Very close to the train station (just a minute’s walk) and directly across from a pub; about a ten minute walk from the trailhead. Beautiful house, comfy bed, and friendly hosts!

Gary was a lovely host and communicated very well with me. The apartment is a bit noisy, but this has been raised with Gary and he assured me that it would be sorted soon!

This is a two bedroom flat with each room let out separately. It is in a fantastic location, right in the centre of Whitehaven, and consists of a large kitchen/diner/ lounge, separate toilet and shower, and the two bedrooms. It is up a flight of stairs but that leaves room for the wine bar downstairs. It's kept clean and tidy, and the facilities (cooker, oven, microwave and so on) are just right. Gary is a very helpful host. He's available to show how the central heading works, and tell me what's going on, and provides resident parking permits to allow you to park - but don't be misled, it's difficult to park in central Whitehaven unless you take the paid parking elsewhere (having said that, the All Day Car Park is only round the corner and very convenient for the usual places of work like Albion Square). I'm booking in regularly now because of its convenient location.

I was staying in Whitehaven for work and when I stumbled across this property, I thought that it was perfect - and it was! Very clean and perfectly situated near local amenities, the town centre and, of course, the beautiful Lake District. Gary was and is a friendly host who couldn't have been more helpful and attentive to my questions and needs. I highly recommend this property to anyone needing a cosy place to rest their head on the West coast!

Clean, simple room, plenty of parking and a good location

Gary was not present but his communication and check-in process was excellent. I had a car and so the location was ideal for travelling into Whitehaven. Good value; would stay again if in Cumbria.

The cottage is in an ideal location to explore the lake district, and there is a lovely public footpath very close by too. The room is large and clean with a comfy bed, lots of plug sockets and a desk. The bathroom is clean and has a bath and shower. Helen welcomes other dogs, her collie Ben the dog is really sweet but wary of other dogs, however this wasn't a issue as I kept my dog in the large room for the night I stayed. Very good value!

Helen was an excellent host, she went the extra mile to help me out. Would highly recommend.

Clean, comfortable, cosy and quiet, couldn5 ask for more. Janet even went out of her way to meet us at the theatre to hand over the keys as out journey took longer than it should so we would have been late otherwise. Perfect.

Lovely house to stay in

Janet is a wonderful friendly host and does everything she can to help. We were allowed to leave belongings over the weekend despite only booking in for the working week which was very kind and an unexpected extra.

Janet's place is located in a great location, in whitehaven. Stunning views over the sea and despite the bad weather we took our dog Coco for a lovely walk to Haig Mine and down to Whitehaven... just a 15 to 20 minute walk along the coast from Janet's cottage. The place itself was spotlessly clean, and very cosy... Janet even provided milk, tea, hot chocolate and coffee for our arrival. The chip shop around the corner was also a bonus! Janet's place was very special place, and great value!! We will definately be going back we felt very relaxed and at home here. Great place to base yourself for work or the western lake district. Good communication with David the host too. Cleator Moor isn't the prettiest but your 15 mins from the beach and the same time away from Ennerdale. Great value

This place is a perfect location for any events at Phoenix House and very close to Whitehaven and the Lake District. It was cozy and the living room was just fantastic.

The place is great for exploring from and a good base for the area. Thoughtful things like eggs, butter, bread and milk made for a pleasant arrival without having to make a mad dash to the shop (which is nearby). Will definitely be looking to see if the place is available again if I'm in the area.

We had a wonderful stay. The location is fantastic for days out to the western lakes & coastal villages. Lots of great walks & lovely country pubs close by. The views over the Irish Sea are amazing! The hot tub was fab & the cottage as a whole was perfect!

The pictures tell it all, this place did not disappoint! It was so amazing watching the waves roll in, we spend most of our time relaxing in the space. Had a lovely walk with the dog along the beach at sunset and enjoyed the hot tub at night... even with February winds blowing! Such a find, sea and easy access to Lake District fells.

Perfect place to relax and unwind, the beach house provides everything you need and more, and is just perfect to watch the sun set from the large hot tub with the Isle of Man visible on clear days. Ourselves and the dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we are going to miss watching the tide come in from our bed.you are only a short drive from the town with shops for your essentials, takeaways and pubs if you need them .

That view! As we stayed here in January, we were expecting bad weather and we got it - very stormy with horizontal rain. The bad weather made our stay even better! We snuggled up in front of the log burner and watched the bands of weather blow in from the horizon. It was perfect! The hot tub was an added bonus and we managed to use it when the weather calmed down. Another really nice thing about West View is the fact that dogs are welcomed, not just tolerated. Dog bowls, a doggy blanket / towel and doggy treats were all available for us to use. The beach immediately outside the house is quite large pebbles which our ancient collie found quite hard to walk on, but at low tide, there's a large stretch of sand about a hundred yards away. Although the collie didn't appreciate the pebbly beach, it attracts wildlife, so we had a lovely time watching the wading birds. I imagine in better weather, it would be great fun exploring the pools left by the sea too. All in all, a lovely relaxing stay x

The cottage has a lovely modern and well stocked kitchen, also large dining table so ideal if people want to self cater. It is a short walk into St Bees and also to the beech. Lots of jigsaws for rainy day and our nephews's children gave a big thumbs up for the toys available in the house. The host is easy to contact

Great amenities, good space, plenty of homely touches by the host and a lovely log-burner in the kitchen. Good base for exploring NW lakes and Whitehaven and surrounding seaside villages. Child and pet-friendly.

This is a lovely well situated cottage just a 15 minute walk to the beach and cliff walks. Short drive away from Enerdale. The log fire in the kitchen is great I would recommend.

My friends and I have just returned from a lovely week-end from High House Cottage. On arrival we found the house to be lovely and warm with a welcome basket of treats left for our enjoyment. Stephens place is well equipped, tastefully decorated and gave us a high quality comfy and cosy stay. He has thought of everything. I highly recommend you take advantage of this fantastic property

Rachel feels like you are staying in a London hotel. Very nice extra touches. Fresh bread, butter and jams in the fridge. Milk and orange juice as well. I evened had Sky and Netflix! Separate private bathroom within the loft bedroom, again with plenty of towels and toiletries. If you are looking for a relaxing place to relax after a long day working or walking then look no further. Whitehaven is on your doorstep. I will book again.

Sally’s loft is like a 5 star hotel. Such a beautiful home and wonderful welcome by a lovely family. You have everything you need at Sally’s loft, it’s is stylish, comfortable and exceptionally clean. Parking was good and there are lots of places to explore on the coastline even if you are just staying over for onward travels. The bed is extremely comfortable, the shower is great and providing breakfast is a nice touch. I would highly recommend Sally’s loft for a one night stay or more.

Rachel was a fantastic host. The room has a lovely electric stove, sky tv, easy to access WiFi. Separate stylish bathroom. Little treats if hungry were provided. Bread, jam, orange, juice and tea & coffee. I will be booking again. Recommend to anyone to stay if you want stylish space with all mod cons.

What a gem of a place. Sparkling clean, well thought out use of space and a very comfortable bed. There was plenty of room for my 6'2" husband and me to feel comfortable. Lovely place, ideally located as it is close to the lake District and the coast. Easy check in and out.

Pam’s property is just a few minutes away by car from St Bees. We were only there for one night as we were cycling the Coast to Coast. Pam very kindly let us store our bikes in her barn in advance of starting the C2C, which was a great help logistically speaking. The property itself is lovely. The only thing lacking is a sink in the kitchen area, but Pam provides a basket for putting your dirty dishes in, so this was fine for our one night’s stay. All in all, a lovely start to our C2C. Thank you.

Joan is really a nice, hospitable elderly lady. We stayed at her place only at night to sleep as we were super busy enjoying outside throughout the day and evening. For us, it was pretty OK. Theoretically, it's possible to see the sea from the window but that's not a proper sea-view. The place was not super-clean or organized but OK and it's not more that 5 mins walk from Saint-bees rail station and about 20 mins walk to beach. I guess, Joan is a new host, so with time she'll be better at managing everything. Importantly, she's super friendly and tries her best to respond to any request made. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Great stay, Gary responds very quick to messages and will go out of his way and sort any issues out straight away. Great location for anyone who is working at the hospital only a 10 minute walk away.

I can't imagine there is a better place to stay in Whitehaven. In terms of comfort, friendliness of hosts and ease of stay, you can't get any better.

This is my third stay with Maria - which tells you what a nice place it is. Warm and dry when it's cold and wet outside, plenty of space, no problems, and a TripAdvisor 5* rated pub opposite and take-away just down the street.

Stayed last week, and it's so lovely that I came back. A very clean space, warm when it's cold outside, shower and BATH, great! Hosts aren't intrusive but very helpful and quick to respond. I'm planning to stay again

What a stunning little cottage. Hospitality is second to none, it’s truly a unique space. Our dog is a biggie (40 kilo German Shepherd) and there was loads of room, it’s all hardwood flooring and a massive garden that he enjoyed exploring. We did three of the lakes in two days, they are a short (but genuinely stunning) drive away. Recommend Wastwater as it is breathtaking, but unfortunately you can’t walk around it. We will be recommending The Tree House to anyone who will listen.

We have just had a lovely 3 nights in this wonderful quirky cottage. The staircase and bedroom upstairs is a delight. Thoughtful touches and everything as described. The instructions on the location, parking and entry to the house were fantastic and detailed. We would certainly recommend staying in this lovely cottage and beautiful area.

Beautiful house with everything you need, just a shame it wasn’t longer.

The cottage was as advertised. In fact, on walking in, you cannot help but smile...and that is before you get upstairs! This is a great property, from the personal touches - home made biscuits and shower gels/shampoos - to the incredible upstairs, accessed by a spiral staircase, with a tree running through the middle of the property! It was the first time we had “used” a smart house. The instructions made this an easy transition, however. Finally, it is a great spot to get round. We visited Boot via the Ravenglass train service. However, you are not far from the beach, and there are excellent pubs nearby.

This is in a beautiful location. Close to lots of outdoor activities and adventures. We really enjoyed our stay, as did our children. Unfortunately it was too cold for the hens to be laying eggs, but we did have fn looking for eggs anyway!

Great place to get away into the countryside. Cabin was warm and inviting with amazing views from the deck. We had our toddler with us and being able to see the donkeys, chicken and sheep from the cabin was great. Some good toys were in the cabin already and there is a swing area so great for young families. Steve kindly gave us lift for check in and check out then the 20 min walk into St Bees is doable even with a toddler so accessible for us non drivers too! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go again

The cabins are lovely, and much bigger than expected. The views are great, and the setting is very tranquil. We had several barbecues, the kids loved everything about the farm, particularly the dogs and collecting eggs. It's a short drive to st Bees and Egremont. Two bathrooms made the stay with kids very luxurious! Steve was really helpful and a great host.

Maria's place was lovely and clean and perfect for my short break. She was most help with communication and me arriving later than planned. The room and bathroom were flawless with the added relaxing bonus of a huge fishtank in the room which was a nice touch! Would stay again and recommend for anyone visiting the area.

A really lovely room, warm and comfortable, and very convenient for the Science and Technology Park (only about 2 miles, another advantage is that half of this is away from the traffic). Lovely to come back to after working hard all day . In two nights I enjoyed the chippy (had to stay in for a conference call) and the Globe pub (almost directly opposite). The fish are active if silent - companionable without disturbing anything. Hosts are friendly and helpful if you need them, out of the way if you don't. Very convenient and I'll book again

Lovely couple and very accommodating. Great communication and understanding as we we're later than expected when booking in. Maria gave us some recommendations as to where to eat and had a lovely chat with her partner before leaving.

Clean and comfortable stay, with nice touches in the room, tea, coffee, biscuits... I didn't meet Maria but her partner was there to welcome me. Friendly and helpful.

Everything was clean and tidy, the budgies in the aviary and the animals in the back garden were a great bonus!

What a lovely stay! This cosy wood cabin was the perfect base for us whilst exploring the Lake District for the first time and we’d really recommend it to future visitors. Particular highlights include fresh eggs in the morning, feeding the donkeys with carrots and incredible views. Thanks for a great time!

Carole and Steve's place is always fantastic and is like a home from home when i visit my family. My toddler daughter loves it. I really loved being there in winter this time and watching the weather roll in. The views are amazing.

A huge thanks to Carole & Steve for accommodating us with such short notice (a few hours on NYE!). We were met by Steve on arrival who showed us to our lodge and then around the place. The lodge was airy and clean and had even been warmed up prior to our arrival (great touch considering how late we arrived and the time of year!). The views, when weather permitted, were great to wake up to and getting out with the kids in the morning to check to see if the hens had laid any eggs was great fun! Florence and Duke (the resident Donkeys) are super friendly and feeding them some chopped carrots and apples also went down great with the children. Overall, a really pleasant stay with great hosts. The lodge itself has everything you need and if it's the Western side of the Lake District you're after exploring; this is a great base location to do it from. If I have any criticism, it is that it is slightly old fashioned inside (furniture etc) - but this is solely down to taste and did not take anything away from the stay itself.

Fantastic place. Extremely clean and equipped with everything you need. Hosts were very helpful and were keen to let me know I could contact them any time if I needed anything . I’ll stay there again no problem. Very nice people. Good energy and the sound of farm animals every once in a while makes it an absolute heaven for nature lovers.

I had a wonderful stay with Paul and Lucy. The room is lovely and spotlessly clean with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in! Tea and coffee and lots of little touches like hairdryer etc are provided in the room. Paul made a fresh loaf of bread for breakfast even though I was heading off at 6am! Paul and Lucy are fantastic hosts, really friendly and knowledgeable and generous. I hope to stay with them again. Location is beautiful and the room is great value. Highly recommended!

A lovely cottage next to a public house. Pleasant bedroom and good bathroom. Easy to find.

First time visiting the Lake District couldn't have been more perfect. Communication was on point as was my stay. Breakfast was lovely and provided the energy to hike to the summit of Scafell Pike, Paul printed out the weather report so I could keep track. Cosy cottage, great food, reviving shower and comfy bed after a long hike. Ideal location to visit the Western and Southern Lakes. Will definitely be vising again.

It is set perfectly for the surrounding location to explore walking or cycling, the property is very warm & spacious with everything you may need.it is a haven to enjoy peace & tranquility. The village is a stones through with all the amenities you will need! Definitely worth a visit.

We had a lovely time at Susans cottage. Susan was quick to respond and even left us some milk and bread when we arrived. The place itself is typical english, warm, cosy and nicely hidden in a quiet spot.

Just returned from a fabulous three night stay at this wonderful place. Started with a lovely warm welcome from Jane and Wal and lots of lovely extra touches from the welcome pack to the shell message and the wine and chocolates. It is a really beautiful house with lovely decoration and it truly was a home from home and took us no time at all to feel relaxed and comfortable. I could have watched the view from the large lounge window all day. It was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was there. Lots of local information provided and the weather was kind enough to allow us to get out for a few walks. I am in no doubt that we will be back at Catbells again this year and can't recommend it highly enough.

Amazing property beautiful location. Catbells has been refurbished to a very very high standard ,contemporary but still with home from home feel . On our arrival heating lighting including because of the time of year Christmas lights all in place ,also so many personal touches including chocolate s and wine (what’s not to like ). Jane and Will always available if and when required. Everything you could wish for in a very comfortable long or short stay a true gem.

Just a beautiful place. Perfectly positioned to walk on the beach or drive into the breathtaking Lake District. Lovely balcony for morning coffee and I loved the planning room with the 3D map of the lakes. Jane and Wal are truly kind and caring hosts. We will be back ❤️

Garry is a great guy. he would come in around midday clean the floor and have a quick chat. he offered me advice about the local area. when i arrived the place was clean. for the price i would thoroughly recommend this place. its also a 2 minute walk to town centre.

I had a wonderful stay with Gary he is one of the best hosts I’ve had for a long time. He so kind and lovely and he will not hesitate to help you with any problem you might have. I would totally stay with him again.

Overall Gary was a great host and the room was perfect for a short stay in Whitehaven. Gary was really helpful with questions I had about the area, which helped me find my way around town. The property is a very short walk from the centre of town and the harbour, which was a great base for seeing Whitehaven. Would highly recommend the room for one or two people planning a short stay in Whitehaven.
