  • What a lovely place! After a 4 hour drive down it was definitely worth it. Katie had lit the fire for us for when we arrived which was lovely! The place was gorgeous and so clean too. Had such a homely feel and it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere! Perfect stay and the perfect host! Helped us with any problems we may of had and made the stay very comfortable so thank you! Would love to come back in the future.

  • This was a lovely place to stay. Relaxed, homely, cosy and quiet. The thoughtful touches from the host Helen, including having the fire lit ready for our arrival, were much appreciated . Only 25 minutes walk to the beach and 35 minutes walk to the Gosforth Hall Inn for their gorgeous pie and chips. The log burner was easy to use and kept the cabin lovely and toasty. Bathroom was also lovely and warm. It was great to wake up with the wonderful view from the big window and watch the birds have their breakfast as we ate ours. Would definitely return for another visit and explore the area a bit further.

  • This beautiful cabin is the perfect getaway for a couple looking for some time alone. Helen is a lovely host, who had lit the log fire for our arrival which warmed us up perfectly in the February weather. We can't wait to stay again soon!

  • What an amazing cosy homely log cabin. A very special long weekend for my partner and I as he proposed whilst having a drink wrapped up warm sat on the decking listening to the owl. Amazing views once the mist cleared. We shall be back as we have very fond memories. Thank you so much Helen for allowing Gareth and I and our 2 fur babies to stay.

Clean and comfortable annex to my house. Totally separate access. This is in the west Lake District. 5 mins from the town of whitehaven. This accommodation is particularly good for cyclists wishing to do the coast to coast ride. We are a five minute ride to the beginning of the track. We offer secure lock up for cycles in the conservatory attached to the annex. Will accommodate 2 people (double bed)
  • Regularly use Marie’s place for work and always enjoy staying here!

  • comfortable and convenient base for exploring the area, very good value accommodation

    Elizabeth2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • I wasn’t really sure what to expect here. We needed somewhere to spend a night in Whitehaven prior to attempting to cycle the Coast to Coast, and the price was right. I was delighted with what I found. Access is to the rear of a large semi detached house on an ordinary street, up a couple to steps into a small conservatory which leads into the lounge/kitchen. There’s loads of room for two to sit in comfort, and the kitchenette has all the basics. We heated a ready meal in the microwave and used the same for our porridge in the morning. The accommodation has its own staircase leading to the bedroom and shower room. All well equipped and clean. Sometimes your heart sinks a bit in B&B places when you come across a laminated notice, but when it says “Please help yourself to extra towels” it’s rather lovely. Although we didn’t meet her, our host could not have been more obliging and I’d happily recommend this place, especially as a really good value stop over before an epic cycling trip.

    Neil2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location and base to explore the local area and to start the c2c cycle. Being able to store the bikes in the conservatory was a massive bonus (and one of the many reasons we booked). Marie was a great host! Thoroughly recommended by us.

    Andrew2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Marie was so helpful right from the word go, especially with restaurant recommendations! The annexe was lovely and very clean! We found the local menus and attraction brochures a great touch. In all, we had a great stay and hope to return!

    Leah2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for cyclists doing c2c

    Artiom2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the annex - it had everything we needed, great value and was the perfect start to our cycle trip on the C2C.

Preferably looking for tenants who are working in the area, that are looking to rent a bedroom on a weekly basis. There are four separate double bedrooms in this house available to rent. There will be an discounted price for long term renters, which is inclusive of all bills.
This is a modern terrace town house located in the heart of Whitehaven. Private room with double bed and shared access to the living areas and bathrooms. Perfectly located for the coast to coast riders, contractors working in the area, Sellafield, Albion Square & West Lakes workers.
  • Gary was a lovely host and communicated very well with me. The apartment is a bit noisy, but this has been raised with Gary and he assured me that it would be sorted soon!

    Jodie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place to stay, close to services & amenities. Warm & cosy. Washing & dryer are free of charge to use, excellent for long stays!

    Susy2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a two bedroom flat with each room let out separately. It is in a fantastic location, right in the centre of Whitehaven, and consists of a large kitchen/diner/ lounge, separate toilet and shower, and the two bedrooms. It is up a flight of stairs but that leaves room for the wine bar downstairs. It's kept clean and tidy, and the facilities (cooker, oven, microwave and so on) are just right. Gary is a very helpful host. He's available to show how the central heading works, and tell me what's going on, and provides resident parking permits to allow you to park - but don't be misled, it's difficult to park in central Whitehaven unless you take the paid parking elsewhere (having said that, the All Day Car Park is only round the corner and very convenient for the usual places of work like Albion Square). I'm booking in regularly now because of its convenient location.

    Hugo2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • I was staying in Whitehaven for work and when I stumbled across this property, I thought that it was perfect - and it was! Very clean and perfectly situated near local amenities, the town centre and, of course, the beautiful Lake District. Gary was and is a friendly host who couldn't have been more helpful and attentive to my questions and needs. I highly recommend this property to anyone needing a cosy place to rest their head on the West coast!

  • The cottage is in an ideal location to explore the lake district, and there is a lovely public footpath very close by too. The room is large and clean with a comfy bed, lots of plug sockets and a desk. The bathroom is clean and has a bath and shower. Helen welcomes other dogs, her collie Ben the dog is really sweet but wary of other dogs, however this wasn't a issue as I kept my dog in the large room for the night I stayed. Very good value!

This house was built for a local iron ore mine in the 1890s. It looks out towards Ennerdale valley, in the Lake District Park, and a short path to the C2C cycleway. The location is quiet, with passing traffic for the farm only. Two double rooms, one with twin beds, are available, with a separate sitting room, with TV, for guests. It is a 10 minute walk to the centre of the village and frequent buses to Whitehaven, on the coast. Well situated for walking, cycling or business in West Cumbria.
Frizington is one of many villages in the west of Cumbria that thrived in the late 1800s and 1900s due to the rich mineral sources. Winder Gate is half a mile from the main village and was built as workers houses for Margaret Mine. From here it is a few miles into the National Park, but the roundabout road route takes 15-20 minutes, heading to the nearest valley, Ennerdale, and Ennerdale Lake, seven miles to walk around. South is Wasdale, where you can see the view voted the best in the country, looking up Wast Water, the deepest lake, towards the highest mountain in England and the smallest church. Nearby Eskdale has a steep windy route to the other side of the Lakes past a Roman hill fort. In Eskdale the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway runs small narrow-guage trains from the coast into the hills. In the other direction are the more visited Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere valleys, on the way towards Keswick, a bustling market town.

There are 2 bedrooms at the property which are both upstairs; one has a double bed and the other has 2 singles. Each room contains a TV. The bathroom is also upstairs and has a shower only. Downstairs is a lounge area and open plan kitchen/diner which has cooking facilities, including utensils, built in cooker, hob, fridge/freezer and microwave. Breakfast cereals, tea and coffee will also be provided. Off street parking is available. There a range of takeaways and local shops close by . Whitehaven train station is situated 15 minutes from the property.

My place, built in 1830, can be seen on the left of the main picture. It is close to Wainwrights Coast to Coast Walk, the sea, public transport, a brilliant fish & chip shop and a local store. You’ll love my place because you're close to coastal walks and sites of historical interest such as the industrial heritage sites of Whitehaven. The lake District National Park is within a few miles and the sunsets from my house are stunning..
Built in 1830 as housing for workers at the local mines. This cosy little house has views over the sea to Scotland from the front and at the back there's an open green grassy space with ample parking.
My home is a small terraced house, built in the 1830's near the cliff top, as a home for the workers in the local mines. It was owned for many generations by the same family and you can still see where they have carved their initials in the red sandstone surrounds of the rear entrance to my home. The area has a rich history in mining coal, anhydrite and iron ore and if you wish to go looking around the cliff top path, you will find many remains of the fascinating industrial history.
  • Whole experience has been top notch.Janet met me at whitehaven station as i had travelled up by train. She even took me shopping to a spar on the way (that had toilet roll!) .Dropped me at the cottage...showed me round and then left me to it. Cottage is lovely.Has everything you need. Its very comfortable and homely. The area surrounding it is stunning.if you like walking by the sea then come here. Thanks Janet.i hope to be back soon

    Chris2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, comfortable, cosy and quiet, couldn5 ask for more. Janet even went out of her way to meet us at the theatre to hand over the keys as out journey took longer than it should so we would have been late otherwise. Perfect.

  • Janet is a wonderful friendly host and does everything she can to help. We were allowed to leave belongings over the weekend despite only booking in for the working week which was very kind and an unexpected extra.

    Jessica2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Janet's place is located in a great location, in whitehaven. Stunning views over the sea and despite the bad weather we took our dog Coco for a lovely walk to Haig Mine and down to Whitehaven... just a 15 to 20 minute walk along the coast from Janet's cottage. The place itself was spotlessly clean, and very cosy... Janet even provided milk, tea, hot chocolate and coffee for our arrival. The chip shop around the corner was also a bonus! Janet's place was very special place, and great value!! We will definately be going back we felt very relaxed and at home here. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in Whitehaven, please consider here.

  • We had a wonderful stay. The location is fantastic for days out to the western lakes & coastal villages. Lots of great walks & lovely country pubs close by. The views over the Irish Sea are amazing! The hot tub was fab & the cottage as a whole was perfect!

    Jo2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures tell it all, this place did not disappoint! It was so amazing watching the waves roll in, we spend most of our time relaxing in the space. Had a lovely walk with the dog along the beach at sunset and enjoyed the hot tub at night... even with February winds blowing! Such a find, sea and easy access to Lake District fells.

    Renee2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to relax and unwind, the beach house provides everything you need and more, and is just perfect to watch the sun set from the large hot tub with the Isle of Man visible on clear days. Ourselves and the dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we are going to miss watching the tide come in from our bed.you are only a short drive from the town with shops for your essentials, takeaways and pubs if you need them .

    Jackie2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • That view! As we stayed here in January, we were expecting bad weather and we got it - very stormy with horizontal rain. The bad weather made our stay even better! We snuggled up in front of the log burner and watched the bands of weather blow in from the horizon. It was perfect! The hot tub was an added bonus and we managed to use it when the weather calmed down. Another really nice thing about West View is the fact that dogs are welcomed, not just tolerated. Dog bowls, a doggy blanket / towel and doggy treats were all available for us to use. The beach immediately outside the house is quite large pebbles which our ancient collie found quite hard to walk on, but at low tide, there's a large stretch of sand about a hundred yards away. Although the collie didn't appreciate the pebbly beach, it attracts wildlife, so we had a lovely time watching the wading birds. I imagine in better weather, it would be great fun exploring the pools left by the sea too. All in all, a lovely relaxing stay x

High house cottage is over 400 years old. It is in the village of St Bees in the Western part of the Lake District. Close to the sea, lakes and mountains it is a perfect place to take a holiday. The cottage has wooden beams which were originally parts of ships, probably wrecked in the bay. The cottage has four bedrooms sleeping up to seven people. Bedroom 1 has king size bed, Bedroom 2 has twin single beds which, by request, can be zipped together to make a super king bed. Bedroom 3 has twin single beds and bedroom 4 has one single bed. These are all on the first floor where there is also a bathroom with roll top bath, shower enclosure, basin and toilet. On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen: gas hob with double oven, a fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and wood burning stove (Fuel supplied). There is a small farmhouse table and seating for two in the kitchen. The separate dining room seats 8 around a large pine farmhouse table, perfect for spending time eating with friends and family. In the lounge there is comfortable seating for everyone, a TV with DVD player and a quiet corner with books, lamp and a cosy chair where you can snuggle up and read. The room also has a flame effect electric fire and windows front and back. In the oak dresser there are a wide range of toys and games - families with young children will also find a box of Happyland figures, vehicles, castle etc under the stairs to keep little ones entertained. Many of our guests comment about the welcoming and cosy atmosphere of the cottage - it certainly feels like a home from home. With gas central heating throughout and the woodburner the cottage is as comfortable in winter as it is in summer. Aside from traffic coming down the lane into the village at rush hour it is a very quiet spot with barn owls nearby and fields opposite. We find it very peaceful.
The cottage is on the outskirts of the pretty village of St. Bees with its ancient abbey. The large sandy beach (with great playground and café) is about 20 minutes walk away and has ample parking. Beyond the beach lies spectacular St Bees Head, an RSPB reserve with rewarding clifftop walks. In the village, ten minutes walk away, there is a post office and shop. There are also four pubs in the village, two of which serve good food. The train station in the village is only 12 minutes walk from the cottage. Nearby Whitehaven, ten minutes by car (and also served by train) has a range of supermarkets and other shops, places to eat, harbour. and museums. The beautiful scenery (mountains and lakes) of Ennerdale and Wastwater are approx. 30-40 minutes drive and are well worth a visit.
  • The cottage is warm and welcoming. Stephen is a responsive host and I can tell he’s proud of the property. The cottage is very clean and well equipped.

  • The cottage has a lovely modern and well stocked kitchen, also large dining table so ideal if people want to self cater. It is a short walk into St Bees and also to the beech. Lots of jigsaws for rainy day and our nephews's children gave a big thumbs up for the toys available in the house. The host is easy to contact

  • A great cottage with ample and flexible sleeping arrangements for families/friends to enjoy a break in the beautiful if remote village of St Bees in West Cumbria. Child and pet-friendly.

The village of St. Bees is on the western coast of Cumbria, four miles south of Whitehaven. It has a long sandy beach, which is 5 mins walk from The Hayloft. St Bees Head, the westernmost point of Cumbria, is the start of the ‘Coast to Coast walk’. An RSPB nature reserve on the headland is home to England’s only colony of Black Guillemots. Puffins, terns and other sea birds can also be studied. There are observation and information points all along the headland. St.Bees Priory dates back to the 11th century, and the beautiful church & grounds are accessible via the courtyard of the development that the Hayloft is built on.

  • Lovely place, ideally located as it is close to the lake District and the coast. Easy check in and out.

  • Pam’s property is just a few minutes away by car from St Bees. We were only there for one night as we were cycling the Coast to Coast. Pam very kindly let us store our bikes in her barn in advance of starting the C2C, which was a great help logistically speaking. The property itself is lovely. The only thing lacking is a sink in the kitchen area, but Pam provides a basket for putting your dirty dishes in, so this was fine for our one night’s stay. All in all, a lovely start to our C2C. Thank you.

Your stay will be in my traditional, characterful terraced cottage in the pretty little seaside village of St Bees and the price is for 1 or 2 sharing a double bed. This is a spacious but cosy double room in a bright, peaceful attic and has a view looking across the gardens towards the Irish sea. St Bees is the start of the Coast to Coast walk and has good rail links and also plenty of venues for evening meals. There's a local swimming pool, open to the public, at St Bees school too.
It is close to the village amenities, being a short walk to several good eating venues and the local shop. It is an excellent place to base a visit to the picturesque Western Lakes such as Ennerdale, Wasdale, Eskdale and there are many other places to visit too such as Muncaster or Ravenglass with the 'Ratty' Railway. Steam trains regularly visit the area and old diesel locos are used during the day on the 'not to be missed' coastal journey along the very edge of the sea and this can sometimes be scary or exciting, depending on how you view it!
The village has a golf course, Post Office and village shop and also several restaurants and pubs with a good choice of real ale. In summer the beach is popular with wind surfers and kite surfers and the cliffs of St Bees Head are frequented by hang gliders too. On Tuesday evenings the St Bees Lifeboat services can be seen practising emergency recovery from the locality.
  • Joan is really a nice, hospitable elderly lady. We stayed at her place only at night to sleep as we were super busy enjoying outside throughout the day and evening. For us, it was pretty OK. Theoretically, it's possible to see the sea from the window but that's not a proper sea-view. The place was not super-clean or organized but OK and it's not more that 5 mins walk from Saint-bees rail station and about 20 mins walk to beach. I guess, Joan is a new host, so with time she'll be better at managing everything. Importantly, she's super friendly and tries her best to respond to any request made. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Near England's highest peak Scafell Pike, scenic lakes, quiet, beaches and spectacular coastline, looking for something different with 'wow' factor? This is the place for you. This romantic, quirky, beautifully furbished 170-year-old cottage combines traditional comforts with Smart Home ‘Alexa’ technology, 4K TV & fast broadband. 3 min walk to award winning inn/restaurant. Pet friendly. Stunning master bedroom. Wood burning stove. Large, private rear garden Lovely village setting. Great kitchen.
Why 'The Tree House'? well because there is a tree inside the house from bottom to top, we're not quite sure how it got there but it was a great idea. Upstairs is a spacious romantic double bedroom with vaulted ceiling and comfortable seating area overlooking the garden. Downstairs is a small but well equipped bedroom with adult size comfortable bunk beds. The house will sleep 4 comfortably but there is a luxurious sofa bed for another 2 as long as you’re good friends. A rustic fully equipped kitchen with island hob means the cook can be part of the living room party. including dish washer, wine fridge, washing machine and all you need to cook with. Living room is cosy with comfortable seating, Laura Ashley soft furnishings, log burning stove in a traditional fireplace with a 4K ‘The Frame’ smart tv above. With Amazon movies included Leading from the living room is a new compact conservatory with dining for up to six and coffee table, all overlooking the patio area and rear garden. There is a modern downstairs bathroom with shower, toilet and wash basin. We are aware of the outbreak of the coronavirus and have taken the necessary precaution measures to ensure a safe experience for our guests including extra deep cleaning between every stay . As you can see from the pictures the layout is very unusual, there isn’t a door on the stairs but the upstairs bedroom is still very private
The cottage is set in the pretty hamlet of Beckermet, a Cumbrian farming village with two streams and a children’s playground. It’s a very short walk to one of the area’s most iconic award winning inn, The White Mare and a short drive to many traditional pubs offering real ales, roaring fires, lovely beer gardens, casual and fine dining. Almost all are pet friendly. It’s also a short drive to England’s highest mountains and deepest lake and the whole wonderful, less crowded Western Lake District Only 3 miles to many quiet beaches and the seaside town of St Bees, with its wide sweeping sands and impressive cliffs. Don’t miss the Ravenglass Eskdale narrow gauge railway and nearby Muncaster Castle, both great for families. Also we provide a printed guide to the area.
  • Amazing place. Great location

  • What a stunning little cottage. Hospitality is second to none, it’s truly a unique space. Our dog is a biggie (40 kilo German Shepherd) and there was loads of room, it’s all hardwood flooring and a massive garden that he enjoyed exploring. We did three of the lakes in two days, they are a short (but genuinely stunning) drive away. Recommend Wastwater as it is breathtaking, but unfortunately you can’t walk around it. We will be recommending The Tree House to anyone who will listen.

  • Stunning! We had a wonderful weekend staying here. Great location, great hosts, the house is better than the pictures. Really cosy and super comfortable. Would not hesitate to book again.

  • We have just had a lovely 3 nights in this wonderful quirky cottage. The staircase and bedroom upstairs is a delight. Thoughtful touches and everything as described. The instructions on the location, parking and entry to the house were fantastic and detailed. We would certainly recommend staying in this lovely cottage and beautiful area.

    Gina2020-01-21T00:00:00Z

    David2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house with everything you need, just a shame it wasn’t longer.

    Karen2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was as advertised. In fact, on walking in, you cannot help but smile...and that is before you get upstairs! This is a great property, from the personal touches - home made biscuits and shower gels/shampoos - to the incredible upstairs, accessed by a spiral staircase, with a tree running through the middle of the property! It was the first time we had “used” a smart house. The instructions made this an easy transition, however. Finally, it is a great spot to get round. We visited Boot via the Ravenglass train service. However, you are not far from the beach, and there are excellent pubs nearby.

  • Great place to get away into the countryside. Cabin was warm and inviting with amazing views from the deck. We had our toddler with us and being able to see the donkeys, chicken and sheep from the cabin was great. Some good toys were in the cabin already and there is a swing area so great for young families. Steve kindly gave us lift for check in and check out then the 20 min walk into St Bees is doable even with a toddler so accessible for us non drivers too! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go again

We had several barbecues, the kids loved everything about the farm, particularly the dogs and collecting eggs. It's a short drive to st Bees and Egremont. Two bathrooms made the stay with kids very luxurious! Steve was really helpful and a great host.

The room and bathroom were flawless with the added relaxing bonus of a huge fishtank in the room which was a nice touch! Would stay again and recommend for anyone visiting the area.

  • A really lovely room, warm and comfortable, and very convenient for the Science and Technology Park (only about 2 miles, another advantage is that half of this is away from the traffic). Lovely to come back to after working hard all day . In two nights I enjoyed the chippy (had to stay in for a conference call) and the Globe pub (almost directly opposite). The fish are active if silent - companionable without disturbing anything. Hosts are friendly and helpful if you need them, out of the way if you don't. Very convenient and I'll book again

  • A huge thanks to Carole & Steve for accommodating us with such short notice (a few hours on NYE!). We were met by Steve on arrival who showed us to our lodge and then around the place. The lodge was airy and clean and had even been warmed up prior to our arrival (great touch considering how late we arrived and the time of year!). The views, when weather permitted, were great to wake up to and getting out with the kids in the morning to check to see if the hens had laid any eggs was great fun! Florence and Duke (the resident Donkeys) are super friendly and feeding them some chopped carrots and apples also went down great with the children. Overall, a really pleasant stay with great hosts. The lodge itself has everything you need and if it's the Western side of the Lake District you're after exploring; this is a great base location to do it from. If I have any criticism, it is that it is slightly old fashioned inside (furniture etc) - but this is solely down to taste and did not take anything away from the stay itself.

    Joshua2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Extremely clean and equipped with everything you need. Hosts were very helpful and were keen to let me know I could contact them any time if I needed anything . Comfortable bedroom with double bed in cosy family cottage. We are in the Western Lake District. The cottage is a short drive from Wasdale & Ennerdale which provides excellent fell walking opportunities, we're a good base for Scafell Pike. We are 1/4 mile from the village with its shops, pubs & restaurants. The cottage is next door to the Red Admiral Pub, 3 miles from Seascale train station and the beach. Paul & Lucy offer a warm friendly welcome, we provide free wi-fi and breakfast.
Most days you can see Scafell Pike from the bedroom window and our friendly runner ducks in the garden. The room is fresh and clean, recently decorated and with a new radiator. The bathroom next door has a wonderful rain shower which our guests have really appreciated , especially after a day walking or cycling on the fells.
Gosforth is our village. It has a vibrant public hall with regular events - see website for details. The pubs provide good pub grub and we especially like the Wild olive for Italian food. We have a folder in the guest room with more details on restaurants/pubs/shops/churches/health centres etc
  • Great local knowledge, and great hospitality. The fresh bread and the ducks were a highlight! See you again!

  • I had a wonderful stay with Paul and Lucy. The room is lovely and spotlessly clean with one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in! Tea and coffee and lots of little touches like hairdryer etc are provided in the room. Paul made a fresh loaf of bread for breakfast even though I was heading off at 6am! Paul and Lucy are fantastic hosts, really friendly and knowledgeable and generous. I hope to stay with them again. Location is beautiful and the room is great value. Highly recommended!

  • First time visiting the Lake District couldn't have been more perfect. Communication was on point as was my stay. Breakfast was lovely and provided the energy to hike to the summit of Scafell Pike, Paul printed out the weather report so I could keep track. Cosy cottage, great food, reviving shower and comfy bed after a long hike. Ideal location to visit the Western and Southern Lakes. Will definitely be vising again.

  • We had a lovely time at Susans cottage. Susan was quick to respond and even left us some milk and bread when we arrived. The place itself is typical english, warm, cosy and nicely hidden in a quiet spot.

  • Great stay at a lovely little cottage! Brilliant host, good communication and the trip made that little bit better by the treats left on arrival! Good location to climb Scafell Pike, just a half hour drive away. Thanks for a lovely stay Susan!

Catbells is a lovely, modern, detached bungalow in St Bees with a spacious garage, a glass walled terrace overlooking the golf course, sea & village and has a sheltered suntrap back garden. It is in a quiet area, a 10 minute walk to the beach. We have tried to make it ideal for a relaxing holiday. We’ve stayed in several Airbnbs ourselves and have taken the good from them all to make sure we have everything to make a happy and memorable holiday. WE HAVE A 20% DISCOUNT IF YOU BOOK FOR A WEEK.
We have a welcome hamper and ask what sort of bread and milk you like. We have games, Lake District and local books and maps, comfy outdoor loungers, umbrellas (rarely needed!), DVDs, walking poles, slippers, spare towels for swimming and a tide clock as well as everything else you’d expect like Wi-fi. The kitchen is brand new and fully equipped with all mod cons. We’ve proper coffee, a selection of teas, cereals, jams and a welcome bottle of something! WE DO NOT HAVE A CLEANING FEE as everyone has left it so well.
St Bees has a history going back over a 1000 years and is fascinating. The St Bees website is a mine if information with lots of photographs. (stbees.org.uk) Please take a look. Thankyou.
  • Just returned from a fabulous three night stay at this wonderful place. Started with a lovely warm welcome from Jane and Wal and lots of lovely extra touches from the welcome pack to the shell message and the wine and chocolates. It is a really beautiful house with lovely decoration and it truly was a home from home and took us no time at all to feel relaxed and comfortable. I could have watched the view from the large lounge window all day. It was spotlessly clean and everything we needed was there. Lots of local information provided and the weather was kind enough to allow us to get out for a few walks. I am in no doubt that we will be back at Catbells again this year and can't recommend it highly enough.

  • Amazing property beautiful location. Catbells has been refurbished to a very very high standard ,contemporary but still with home from home feel . On our arrival heating lighting including because of the time of year Christmas lights all in place ,also so many personal touches including chocolate s and wine (what’s not to like ). Jane and Will always available if and when required. Everything you could wish for in a very comfortable long or short stay a true gem.

  • Amazing location with a wonderful view very close to the beach. We got such a warm welcome with fresh flowers, chocolate, wine and beer. Milk and other essentials were also provided. Very thoughtful. The house is modern and sparkling clean. We loved sitting on the terrace enjoying views and sunshine. Thank you very much to Jane and Wal

  • Just a beautiful place. Perfectly positioned to walk on the beach or drive into the breathtaking Lake District. Lovely balcony for morning coffee and I loved the planning room with the 3D map of the lakes. Jane and Wal are truly kind and caring hosts. We will be back ❤️

Whitehaven is a fun vibrant town with lots of history. Every year almost 15,000 cyclists start the famous coast to coast route from our very own harbour. There are lots of shops, pubs, cafes, supermarket, gyms and parks located within 10 minutes walk of this property.

  • Overall Gary was a great host and the room was perfect for a short stay in Whitehaven. Gary was really helpful with questions I had about the area, which helped me find my way around town. The property is a very short walk from the centre of town and the harbour, which was a great base for seeing Whitehaven. Would highly recommend the room for one or two people planning a short stay in Whitehaven.
