This comfortable, self-contained one room cabin is set apart in a peaceful spot, a few meters from my cottage. It contains a double bed with comfortable latex mattress. Slippers provided. (Outside shoes left on the doorstep.) In the room is a TV, dvd player, wifi, fridge, double-ring portable electric cooktop for light cooking only, kettle, mini-oven, micro-wave, all you need for preparing/cooking breakfast and other light cooking , split-system air-conditioning/heating, hangers and hanging space, small table and 2 chairs. You will find the ingredients for a continental breakfast in your fridge - eggs, milk, butter, jam, honey, fruit, bread, tea, coffee etc. All organic where possible. If you would like to try an Ayurvedic porridge for breakfast, (wonderful on a cold winter's morning!) I can prepare that for you on request, for a small extra charge. There is a small ensuite shower and toilet.
Riddells Creek is a small peaceful country town at the foothills of the Macedon Ranges, surrounded by lovely rural pastures and bushland. I take my dog on some beautiful country walks in the area. Kangaroos are frequent visitors, even to my street, and my garden is visited by many beautiful colourful birds especially rosellas, lorikeets, fairy wrens and honeyeaters, as well as the typical Aussie battler, the magpie! In the town we have one small supermarket , an excellent deli, a couple of good cafes, a very good Indian restaurant, a Thai restaurant and a pizza and pasta place. There is a small medical centre, pharmacy, hairdresser, post office, lovely neighbourhood house, a pub and the best op shop for miles around! A few kms away is Gisborne or Macedon for other lovely eating places, pubs and wineries. There is a pretty park and lake in Riddells Creek. Dromkeen historic homestead is just outside Riddells Creek - lovely big house on 25 acres with fascinating gallery and tearoom. The larger towns of Gisborne and Sunbury are 10 mins drive away, and on the train line. Riddells Creek is very well positioned for the city and the tourist areas of the Macedon Ranges, including Hanging Rock and many good wineries. If you are interested in theatre, the beautiful Mount Players theatre is nearby and they put on some fantastic shows. The Spa Country, an area famous for its mineral springs, is about 40 mins drive away. Also Riddells Creek is a perfect peaceful stop-off if you are on your way round Australia
  • Caroline’s tiny cabin was clean and cozy! Great outdoor plants and flowers. Definitely go back again. Thank you Caroline.

  • Caroline's B&B was just the perfect place to stay overnight. The bed was very comfortable and there were many stylish aspects from the tiles in the bathroom to the light fittings. I can thoroughly recommend staying at Caroline's place. It was a lovely, restful experience.

    Janice2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline was a great Host nothing was any trouble for her. The Cottage was so cute and very clean. There was a good selection of Dvds, breakfast was thoughtfully arranged and Caroline even supplied a little Almond milk for me as I'm lactose intolerant. I would thoroughly recommend Caroline's little cottage for a secluded little break!

  • Caroline's place was perfect for our trip to the airport the next morning. It's a short 30 minutes or so away and very convenient. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It's a great little secluded spot in the back of the property and was so much better than staying in a hotel room. Everything was great, and we will definitely stay here again on our way through that area of the country.

    Keith2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline's place is a lovely little quaint spot in town. Would have been lovely to stay a little longer & enjoy the lovely garden settings. Our very short stay of overnight there was really enjoyable.

Set amidst Eucalyptus trees and wonderful Australian native birds and animals. Take a deep breath of fresh forest air, get back to nature and feel rejuvenated . We are in the process of building a stone circle with a fire pit in the centre for the guests use... hope to be finished by 9th June. Guests can then cook on the fire and enjoy fire under the stars.
Our Forest Getaway is an eco friendly, refurbished shipping container on beautiful Mount Macedon in the Macedon Ranges, Victoria. We live amongst nature, with a family of kangaroos, wombats, echidnas, king parrots that allow us to feed them by hand, many other birds, two rescue goats named John and Mary, 2 bee hives that produce delicious honey and a gorgeous little rescue dog called Boomer. The living space is soft and refined, with crisp white and organic colours combined with wood accents and surrounded by a lush green landscape with gum trees and natural bush and garden to create a relaxing and healthy escape from daily life. Being two standard shipping containers joined together, it is an open space other than the bathroom. It is light and airy due to the crisp white and earthy tones, plenty of windows (most double glazed and all second hand), sunlights throughout and light bamboo flooring. It contains a day bed which converts to a comfortable queen sized bed, quality linen, cosy doona, a couch, table for two, basic kitchen facilities including an induction stove top, fridge, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, basic cookware and crockery. The ensuite bathroom has an eco friendly modern compostable toilet (ie it doesn’t smell) and open shower.  There is a hand basin and vanity in the main area.  We supply the shampoo, conditioner, soap, dishwashing liquid to keep it environmentally friendly and safe to use. Also supplied are all linen, towels, hair dryer, organic black tea and a variety of organic herbal teas, coffee, raw sugar, organic milk, Himalayan salt, pepper, extra virgin olive oil. There is a little oven/toaster provided and a hot plate.
It's a lovely quiet friendly forest town with open gardens, a pub, cafe, parks and forest walks.

Bushwalkers and mountain bikers paradise, leave the studio and walk straight into the bush, untouched since the bushfires of 1983. Tracks from the studio head out directly to the various trails over the mount, or you can wander down the drive and into the Mount Macedon CBD (1.2km away). There is a great family friendly pub and cafe to keep you entertained for hours (unless of course there is a worldwide pandemic, in which case the pub will probably be closed...... Takeaway is still open at the Cafe though!) We have local wineries nearby, only a few mins drive, or if your keen a half an hour walk. Or venture further through the Macedon Ranges for HEAPS of wineries, pubs, cafes and of course Hanging Rock. A unique property in that we are surrounded by forest. The only things you will hear at night are the owls, wombats and wallabies. Then a koala in mating season.

  • Luke and Fran were great hosts, making our stay in their perfect studio so comfortable and hospitable. The location of their studio was perfect, just a stones throw from local wineries, pub, cafe and tourist attractions. They exceeded our expectations in terms of the studio itself, with great amenities, a comfortable bed and a toasty fireplace, complete with a continental breakfast. Fran was a great help on check in as she gave us some good tips for local eats and hiking trails., and they also let us know of a baby echidna that was wandering around the property! Overall I could not recommend this stay any higher!

  • Amazingly peaceful and beautiful spot for a quick weekend away out of the city. Such an easy drive out there. Basically an hour from the city yet you feel so far away from it all. Woodend is 10 mins drive and is a beautiful little town with great pubs and a fantastic supermarket for you to stock up before heading out to the property. The cottage is so spacious and comfortable. Couldn’t recommend enough.

  • Great relaxing place to stay.

    Sean2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely idyllic, every room having it's own charm. There's honestly not a nook in this house that you don't want to spend time in. As beautifully as it presents itself in the photos, I was blown away to see it in person. It get's a lot of natural sunlight as there are many windows, making each room (bathroom included) having a beautiful view out to the lake or the stunning gardens. Ann was fantastic, so welcoming and easy to communicate with, and really went above and beyond. The space was extremely spacious, hosting and sleeping eight of us. We used the fireplace which made the cold night so beautiful and cosy. We watched the sunrise over the lake in the morning. The only thing we wished we could change was that we only stayed for one night!! Highly recommend for a group trip or a luxurious and spacey getaway with a couple of people. Would love to come back soon!!

    Tess2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful cottage surrounded by a magnificent garden and sprawling countryside and a couple of large lake. The cottage is elegant and well appointed. Thoughtful touches of wine and fresh artisan bread. Ann welcomed us and we felt comfortable and relaxed after our journey. Would highly recommend this property.

The separate kitchen/dining area has a microwave, gas cooktop, large fridge, toaster and coffee making facilities. It is air conditioned to keep you comfortable no matter what the season. Enjoy a walk along the wide tree lined Main St and grab a great coffee or something to eat. • A gem of a place, close to everything but tucked away in a peaceful and private location. The space is clean and spacious with good amenities for self catering, although the bakery and the pub at Lancefield are good eating out options. Checking in and out was easy and Trudi and Colin were very welcoming. And so were the two beautiful horses! Highly recommended, we would love to come back.

  • Just needed a night off and this place popped up and looked ideal, booked it late afternoon and communication was great, got there and everything was perfect, couldn’t have been better, the flat is fantastic, comfortable bed and pitch black bedroom at night (something I like a lot), nice kitchen, comfortable couch and the resident horses are quite friendly (take a bag of apples and make a couple of friends) I loved this place and I will be back for a longer stay soon..

    Danielle2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Well, this little gem of a place was an absolute pleasure to stay in! A quaint little jockey's quarters that has been revamped into a lovely self-contained granny flat. What's more, the hospitality provided by Colin and Trudi was exceptional. Colin went above and beyond in his hosting duties and we were so incredibly grateful. The resident horses coming to the fence for a pat was a wonderful highlight. Thank you so very much for a lovely stay! P.s - to others travelling to the area, there is really no public transport or Uber. However, the flat is within walking distance of the local pub and I can recommend their hot chips!

  • Adrienne’s Studio is so immaculately tidy and perfect for a quick getaway for a misty drive and sightsee. Close to nature walks and sightseeing, little restaurants and pubs, but tucked away so you have your own secluded little spot to come home to. All this with lovely garden views and native wildlife at your doorstep. It’s such a beautiful property and you can tell Adrienne puts a lot of care and thought into its upkeep. We can’t wait to come back.

'Domus Secundus' is Latin for "Second Home." 'Secundus' means also 'favoured' or 'lucky'. This is not just a place to sleep, but to cook, invite guests for meals, wash and dry your clothes, to have a party (by negotiation) or simply to chill out. Easy walking distance to the centre of Gisborne, in striking distance of Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Daylesford and everywhere between. Shuttle to Tullamarine, and short distance to rail. Work or holiday? A great place to stay!
Like snowflakes, each place is unique. In the end, the single most important distinguishing characteristic is the host, of whose temperament their offering is an expression. I grew up in a most hospitable family. In my second marriage I had a restaurant in Goulburn, NSW. There, as Maitre D', I discovered how strong are my hospitality instincts. They are what drive me to venture into airbnb. I am excited by the thought of meeting you! Many hosts offer the same, but the unique defining characteristics of my offering at "Domus Secundus" are entertainment and healing, should you wish for either. I am a busker, a 'gubba' or white man, but adopted as Elder and Medicine Man of the Wirradjuri tribe in New South Wales. I do not seek to impose any of this on you, but it is available should you wish.
Gisborne is very well supplied with restaurants and cafes. Special amongst these is "Jeds", but there is excellent eating all over...Indian, Chinese, Thai, Lebanese, fish-and-Chips and even McDonalds. My favourite is the Kaffeine Bar in Aitken St....Mmmm those vegan pancakes!!! 29 eating places altogether, but many more within a half-hour drive...Woodend, Kyneton, Macedon, Mt. Macedon, Sunbury.
  • We had a wedding to attend in the area and needed accommodation for one night. We chose Melvyn's as it fitted our needs and budget. Two rooms for 4 people. Melvyn's place was easy to find. His directions on where to park off street were clear. We were v happy with what Melvyn had to offer. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. Good lighting too - not a dark dimly lit room. There was a kitchenette with the usual tea and coffee etc PLUS cereal and avocado, toast etc. In the sitting room there was nuts. V cosy and welcoming. Pity we didn't have much time there as we dropped our stuff off, rushed off to the wedding, back late and then off the next morning for breakfast. Melvyn was friendly and helpful. As we drove off we thought 5 stars. When we got back to Melbourne, I realised that I had left my USB power adaptor behind. I contacted Melvyn to ask him to mail it to me. He agreed but next day he dropped it off!! He decided to visit a friend who lived in the same area as us and drop my adaptor off. How lovely was that. 6 stars. If we needed accommodation in Gisborne again, we'd stay at Melvyn's. Definitely. Can recommend.

Sunbury has many historic bluestone bridges, railway viaducts and churches. The area is home to Emu Bottom Homestead (c. 1835), Victoria’s oldest homestead; the bluestone cellar doors of Goona Warra Vineyard (c. 1858) and Craiglee (c. 1866). The former asylum (c.1864) is another imposing building overlooking the township and the old Sunbury Courthouse and Aitken’s Gap Gaol are other links to Sunbury’s past. Aitken’s Gap Gaol The Aitken’s Gap Police Gaol was erected in 1857 at a cost of ₤200. It was built near the Calder Highway West of Sunbury where there was a small town known as “The Gap”, originally called Aitken’s Gap after the pioneer sheep farmer John Aitken. The Town sprung up with diggers spending the night on their way to the goldfields after the gold rush started in Victoria in 1851, and was in use until 1863. The Gaol was mostly used for the safe storage of gold and cash on route to the Treasury in Melbourne. In 1863 Aitken’s Gap Barracks were closed and in 1989, the owner of the building Mr Bruce Akers (as it was now on his land) generously donated the building to the Sunbury Police to be rebuilt for the community as a monument to our pioneering past. In 1988 the Gaol was relocated to it’s present location – between the Police Station and the Old Courthouse in Macedon Street Sunbury. Over the Christmas of 1882, eight amateur members of the English touring side were house guests of the Clarkes. Sir William organised a social hit between the English and his guests, and with the English proving victorious, Janet Lady Clarke burnt a bail, the ashes of which she placed in a small urn and presented to the English Captain (Ivo Bligh). Indigenous Earth Rings The earth ring sites are extremely rare. Only eight earth rings are documented for the entire state of Victoria. Five of these are found in Sunbury. The Sunbury rings are shallow, circular depressions, partially enclosed by raised earth rims. They range from 15 to 25 metres in diameter. One of these sites was excavated in 1979 and yielded the discovery of 164 stone artefacts and revealed that the ring had been made by human hands. When and why they were made remains a mystery but it is believed that they formed part of a male initiation ceremony. In the school’s first year alone, ten children died, earning the school the nickname of the “Sunbury Slaughterhouse”. The school was closed after 14 years and was re-developed from 1879 as an institution for psychiatric patients. It is during this period that the “old asylum” is most remembered and was also known as Caloola. In 1994 Victoria University moved onto the site, but subsequently closed its doors. • We totally loved this place. It looked exactly as advertised and every little detail was taken care of, from freshly picked veggies and fresh flowers, a phone charger by the bed. The fireplace was lovely and the hosts very helpful and responsive in advance of our booking. We were sorry to leave and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a private getaway.

  • This place is absolutely wonderful. We had a wedding to attend in the area and wanted a nice place to stay to make it a whole weekend. This place was perfect! Such fantastic location for Macedon, hanging rock etc. beautiful touches with food (some home made), toiletries, chocolates etc. Sophie was excellent with communication and very accommodating. Highly recommend for a weekend away.

    Sonia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place, full of thoughtful touches, it was better then staying at a 5* hotel. They really have thought of everything, especially with the bits provided for breakfast, with homemade bread and all the provisions to cook up whatever you want. I’ve asked for the recipe for Sophie’s chocolate slices - they were phenomenal!

    Clare2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Sophie’s school house for my parents Christmas present and they absolutely loved it! They said they had the most wonderful stay and absolutely loved the interior of the school house and all the small touches! They really enjoyed their beautiful breakfast and homemade bread! A great night away with beautiful surrounds. Thanks for having them Sophie!

  • Really lovely, peaceful and quiet. The view over the valley was amazing. To gaze across the fields and see the wildlife was very special. Great facilities- we had everything we needed. Near to the town- Woodend. Ate at the local pub. Vic hotel on the owner recommendation. The best rack of pork ribs we’ve ever eaten. I’d recommend booking a table as the place was packed- we got the last table. Being able to bring our dog was such a bonus. The morning walks were really great. Thanks again- it was everything as described and so much more. We’ll definitely be booking again.

My home is close to the airport ( 40 mins). The area includes first class wineries; the beautiful Mount Macedon & the mysterious Hanging Rock. A quiet country town; train station within walking distance (30 min train ride to Melb) It also has some great restaurants, supermarket & parkland with birdlife. You’ll love my place because of the abundance of light and the beautiful garden. Ensuite bathroom & two living areas. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers & business travellers.
As new country style cottage. Modern furniture with new and comfy beds. It is a 3 bedroom home but I only make two bedrooms & 1 bathroom available for guests. I have found this easier as I do live in the home & can store most of my belongings in my bedroom to give guests more space
My home is in a tasteful subdivision & is a quiet family friendly area. You will see people walking past with their dogs who will stop for a chat or a friendly hello on the way past.
  • Angela's place is absolutely beautiful. There's so much light that comes into the house, making the space warm and inviting. 'Domus Secundus' is Latin for "Second Home." 'Secundus' means also 'favoured' or 'lucky'. This is not just a place to sleep, but to cook, invite guests for meals, wash and dry your clothes, to have a party (by negotiation) or simply to chill out. Easy walking distance to the centre of Gisborne, in striking distance of Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo, Castlemaine, Daylesford, Sunbury and everywhere between. Shuttle to Tullamarine, and short distance to rail. A great base for work or holiday!
Attractions not too far away: Castlemaine (47 mins), Hanging Rock (29 mins), Woodend (15 mins), Kyneton (25 mins), Maldon (1 hour 20 mins), Bendigo (1 hour 4 mins), Ballarat (1 hour 3 mins), Melbourne (43 mins), Daylesford (50 mins), Trentham and Trentham Falls (32 mins), Mt Macedon (14 mins)...spectacular views and good walking trails, Sunbury station with access to metropolitan trains (16 mins). From my place to centre of Gisborne1.3 Kilometres, to Gisborne Station 4.4 kms. Gisbus from stop near my place to station in mornings and evenings. Where I can I will help in getting you to the station. Wineries, olive groves and organic farms are numerous...fishing in an organic farm at Woodend.

  • Row of three cabins with beautiful view, bigger and better quality than photos showcase. Saw a couple of wombats on our walk. Relaxing for a quick weekend away.

    Eloise2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wombat Lodge is a great place to have a small getaway. The view from the room was beautiful and the whole cabin gave a nice and cozy vibe. The walks are enjoyable and there is an abundance of wildlife! Loved it and would recommend!

There are local golf courses nearby, Goonawarra Golf Course in Sunbury is rated highly, additionally, the Public Romsey course is less than 5KM away
  • A great place with lots of space for our kids to run free. It's a very bushy block, and out of fire season the fire pit is a great place to congregate. We found on the property flocks of eastern grey kangaroos that passed through, and a few swamp wallabies and koalas that call the block home. Well equipped with everything you would want for a short stay

    Simon2020-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a wonderful place to stay. We wish we had have stayed longer. The place was spotless, beautiful bathrooms and the beds comfortable. Such a lovely stay, especially if you want a tree change. Five minutes from the little town of Romsey where you can find everything you might need and all of the lovely country towns of Macedon are close by. We spotted the kangaroos at dusk and in the morning on a little bush walk around the property. Such a peaceful place. Enjoyed our morning coffees both on the front and back decks. Brilliant communication from the hosts online before and during our stay and information when you arrive. Looking forward to coming back.

Bed is so comfortable and there is a gorgeous little garden and shared terrace. Helen is super nice and I love her art, that can be found all throughout the place. ...oh and she has the cutest little dog. Thanks again so much for having me :)

    Connor2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Helen is a lovely host. Most welcoming and her little puppy is gorgeous and loves a pat. The room was wonderful and bed was very comfortable and clean. Will definitely stay again when wanting to fly in and out as only 20 mins from the airport. Very nice suburb and supermarket and shopping centre is 240m away. Great stay..

    Pamela-Ann2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s place was perfect for relaxing. The bedroom was located in a separate section of the house so if you are looking for a quiet spot, this is it! I found the bed comfy and there was a small fridge in the room, as well as continental breakfast items, so you didn’t even need to leave your room to eat! Helen’s house was a 20-30 minute Uber ride from the airport (depending on time of day/traffic). I would absolutely stay again and wish I’d had time to explore the local community.

  • This was one of my partner and I’s favourite air bnb we’ve had the pleasure of staying at. Gorgeous and private little home with beautiful amenities. Our favourite part was the outdoor bath and the fire place. We will definitely come back here again to enjoy it all over!

    Prue2018-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jennine's place was one beautiful and stylish cottage that gave us a total luxury to enjoy the weekend away from the busy city living of Melbourne. The place was super clean and modern with amazing interior deco w lots of arty touch - even plates and cups were artist made and felt special using them;) The outside bath worked as a real treat and felt like we were in the hot spring under the stars. Bed was super comfy and everything we needed were there. The kitchen worked very well and we made a full use of it by baking yummy food all evening. And thanks Jennine for providing a full set of continental breakfast! The heater was surprisingly warm and effective for heating the whole place very quick and there was even a high tech floorheating in the bathroom! Communication with Jennine was efficient and fast. Overall, we really enjoyed the stay and was a perfect place for a special weekend away:) Thanks Jennine!

    Akari2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved Jennine's place - it was clean, quiet and comfortable and the fire pit and outdoor bath were a treat. We will definitely come back next time we are up that way :)

My place is close to Everything. Town centre is down the hill. Sunbury station is a beautiful 15 - 20 min walk through parkland.. You’ll love my place because of the vibe. It's quiet, but still close to local culture, and has all the mod cons. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers. - All guests are welcome. LGBT friendly - I can organise airport transfers with a trusted local driver for $25 each way. Airport is only 20 mins -Easy access from driveway to room
There's so many different reasons why you may be visiting. -Whatever kind of trip you're planning, I'm happy to help with suggestions or arrangements if you need. Whether you're stopping though for convenience to the airport, you're here for an event, or enjoying a holiday, exploring the area and activities, we can have as little or as much interaction as you need on your trip. -There's plenty of areas to sit or relax inside and out, including 2 lounge rooms. One with a firebox and cosy cushions. Bathroom is shared.
    - There's a tourist information office 5 mins away with maps and brochures and some very knowledgeable ladies to help you start exploring.
