The Host works full time but likes to personally prepare cottage and greet all guests so stays from SUNDAY PM ONLY and also Mondays on Bank Holiday weekends.
  • The cottage is small but well equipped (including cooking ingredients!), suitable for a couple or small family or small group. Great location for explore the bordering towns in both England and Wales. Nature lovers and outdoor adventurers like us will love it. Easy to get to supermarkets and shops in Oswestry. Easy going host is also a plus.

  • We were 3 and stayed for a week. The cottage is very well located and so lovely. Very well equipped. Rosemary was a wonderful host : helpful and thoughtful. She prepared us a gorgeous lemon cake. Yummy! The view was amazing and so peaceful. We strongly recommended the house. Thank you Rosemary for everything.

  • Amanda’s place is clean and comfortable, and was ideally situated for an overnight stay when we were in the area for a wedding. The wood burning stove ensured that we were lovely and warm, despite the cold weather. Amanda was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make us feel at home. Would definitely stay again.

Number 39 is a 19th Century period townhouse set on the outskirts of Oswestry. The house has a living room, dining room and kitchen downstairs with 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower upstairs. The house enjoys views over Brongyntyn Park and has on street parking. The house is on the Shropshire/Welsh border in close proximity to Shrewsbury, Chester with Snowdonia not too far! Perfect for longer stays for work purposes or business trips. Gobowen Hopsital is only a few miles away.
Number 39 provides period living accommodation in a cosy environment. The house has great views over the park and is only a 5 minute walk into the Centre of Oswestry where there are a range of shops, cafes and bars. The house is my home so is “lived in”. I hope you find it a comfortable and homely stay. It’s an old house so does have some quirks. We don’t try to be a five star hotel, but to provide a home from home experience. Number 39 has some nice period features and I’ve been slowly doing it up to make it a great place to live. Myself or my neighbour, Amy, will meet you at the property. Alternatively for late check-ins or when we’re not available, there is a key box that I will leave a key in. Please note that I work full time and am not always able to answer the phone immediately. Please be patient. Check out the house on Instagram: oswestry_holidays
The house is situated on the outskirts of Oswestry in walking distance to shops, pubs and the town centre.
  • We had a lovely weekend stay here. It is a very stylish and spacious house, on a nice residential road only a few minutes' walk from the town centre. Lovely views of the Brogyntyn Estate at the front. A little bit of traffic noise in the front room but nothing to bad. There were no problems with check-in or parking. We couldn't fault the facilities, furnishings or comfort and would happily have stayed longer!

I felt like one of the family as soon as I arrived, yet I had my private space when I wanted it and the house has a very relaxed atmosphere, perfect. They were so generous and thoughtful also. The room was very comfortable with everything I needed. Thanks again, Rob

  • I really enjoyed my stay here. Chris and Veronica were so wonderful and I felt at home right away. It was great to return home after work and be welcomed with friendly conversation and a homely atmosphere. I am due to return to Oswestry again and I will be booking with Chris again. Perfect hosts including the little doggo Milo

    Yasin2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Veronica and Chris are really adorable and welcoming people. Courageous too because they accept to host a 6 month old baby! Veronica did not know what to do and what to do. We loved the little garden and the house, which is super cozy and beautifully decorated, not in an Ikea-kind-of-way, but with things that seem to have a story to tell. Veronica and Chris are absolutely adorable and welcoming. Brave too, since they agreed to stay with my 6 month old baby! Veronica did everything to make the most of our stay. We loved the little garden and the house too, which is very comfortable and nicely decorated, as if everything had a history.

Courtyard Cottage is situated on a no through road, within the grounds of Underhill House, a short two mile drive from the market border town of Oswestry, a recently refurbished and immaculately presented two bedroom cottage - both bedrooms with ensuites. Ideally located to explore Shropshire, North Wales, and the local historic towns of Chester and Shrewsbury. And with great access to the international connections and of Manchester and Liverpool.
Guests staying for a week or more will receive a welcome basket on arrival of goodies including fresh bread, eggs from our chickens when available, and home made jams etc. Plentiful books, games, jigsaws and garden furniture. High Chair and cot and toys available on request. Both of our SuperKing Beds are Zip and Lock and each can break into a pair of single beds.
Set in beautiful unspoilt countryside, with superb walking in the local area - the Old Racecourse with its spectacular county views, Offas Dyke and the local Iron Age Hill Fort. Further afield we have National Trust gems of Chirk Castle, Powis Castle and Erddig House. There are steam railways at Llangollen and Welshpool, and of course the spectacular countryside of the Snowdonia National Park is on the doorstep - with great welsh beaches and castles just a little further on. Locally there are a number of good restaurants and pubs - Our personal favourites are 'Kolim' a particularly fine Indian restaurant in Oswestry, the Cross Keys in Selatynn, and the West Arms and the Hand in Llanarmon DC.
  • Ideally located to explore the Shropshire countryside and Welsh border towns. Lisa, Alex and Freddie were great hosts, the space was very clean and cosy and well equipped with everything we needed!

    Michael2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The space was perfect. Cosier and cuter than we expected. Arriving to freshly baked flapjack cookies, fresh eggs and milk in the fridge was such a lovely touch. The beds and bedding were the best we’d all ever slept in - we slept amazingly all weekend and felt refreshed after our little country cottage retreat. Thank you!

    Alice2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous cottage and wonderful hospitality from Lisa and Alex. Lisa left us gorgeous cookies and freshly laid eggs. The cottage is warm and cozy and has one of the best equipped kitchens we have come across. The whole place was spotless, comfy beds and lovely en-suite bathrooms. Lisa and Alex have thought of everything you might need and are on hand next door should you need them. They have llamas and chickens which we loved visiting. Overall we had a fabulous stay and hope to visit again.

    Janet2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This home is stunning! We went for a few days over Christmas and felt so welcome. So many thoughtful touches. The cottage is cosy, relaxing and has everything you could want. Alex and Lisa went above and beyond for us and we even got to meet and feed the gorgeous llamas, such a highlight. The area is beautiful we explored Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Cheshire so plenty to see and do. We all slept very well as it was peaceful and comfortable. We will definitely return. Cant reccomend this place enough. Xx

    Jen2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is in a great setting and feels so homely. Lisa and Alex are so friendly and helpful, we will definitely be returning.

    Jane2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage with great hosts. Ideal location for exploring. Loved the llamas and the little touches.

    Mark2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage that myelf and my mother stayed in for 3 nights was second to none. Everything you could possibly need was catered for and the standard of the decor and accessories in the cottage was of the highest standard. Lisa and Alex are just the best hosts and even left us some home made items of food, which were lovely. We enjoyed it so much we were straight onto the website to book again for next year. Keep doing what you are doing Lisa and Alex and your holiday accomodation will be a great success!

    Louise2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Courtyard Cottage. Alex & Lisa were perfect hosts, the cottage was filled with thoughtful touches and beautiful interiors. It’s a wonderful base for exploring the nearby countryside and national trust properties.

Traditional Victorian property. Light and airy with sash windows and period features. House is within a short walking distance of Oswestry market town centre, and the beautiful Cae Glas Park. There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby should you wish to eat out. Easy access to countryside walks from Oswestry, plus many tourist attractions including NT properties Chirk Castle and Erdigg, as well as world heritage site Pontycysyllte viaduct nearby.
Guests will have access to the whole house. The property is cool in Summer but toasty warm in Winter, and it is fully equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The house sits prettily in a terrace, just opposite a beautiful green area in a very desirable street. There’s a useful corner shop about a minute’s walk away, as well as lots of cafes and restaurants within a five minute walk.
  • Helen's place was really homely and welcoming, especially as she left some some essentials like milk and chocolate for us! The kitchen had all the basics for cooking so it was easy to rustle up some tasty dinners.

    Lucy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • lovely clean place . feels like a very cosy home . Helen is very informative and helpful host. would highly recommend

    Lloyd2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a great location. Helen went the extra mile to make us feel really welcome. The little message on the chalk board wall in the kitchen was a nice touch. Really enjoyed relaxing next to the fire and cooking in the kitchen after having been walking during the day. Bed was very comfortable and the quiet road meant we got a good nights sleep. The interior of the house is great with plenty of mood lighting and candles. Staying here was a great way to enjoy the New Year and if we visit the area in the future we’ll be sure to book again. :)

    Nathalie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice house with some stylish touches. It’s just 5 minutes walk to the town centre. It was really clean, comfortable and kept nice & warm despite temperatures going to zero outside ..... Helen provided everything we needed ( including some nice ‘treats‘ for our Christmas stay), and left helpful information. She obviously cares about giving a good, friendly service. We’d be delighted to return

    Anne2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s place is absolutely stunning. It’s cosy, warm, spacious and stylish. It’s all you could wish for, and more. It’s even better than the photos, and I would happily have stayed longer. It’s easy to tell from the feel of the house that it’s well-loved, and I can certainly see why - I totally fell in love with it myself. The location is excellent for exploring and Wales is just a 15 minute drive away. Helen has plenty of info on places to visit to get the most from your trip, although it’s tempting to simply stay inside and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful house! We popped into Wales to see the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and I’m very glad we did, the views are incredible! Hope to stay here again and spend more time exploring this beautiful area.

    Lucy2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fab couple of days away with our little one. The house is beautifully decorated with lovely little homely touches. It is super cosy and warm especially once you get the log fire going. The bed was super comfy and the towels were super fluffy! There is plenty of parking and we had a space outside without issue all weekend. Thank you for being such a great host!

    Franki2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in Helen's.It was sparkly clean, lovely and warm, great beds, and great use of the space. Its just a five minute walk into the town, and if you dont fancy cooking great places to eat or order takeaway.Helen answered any questions immediately and was extremely helpful. I cant wait to stay again next year, thank you Helen xx

    Nia2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little townhouse terrace, about 10 mins walk from the town centre but easy to park outside. Very stylish but also cosy, with very comfy beds! Shame it was a bit cold to sit in the garden, but it looked like a great space for the summer! Kitchen was well provisioned, enough to make an apple pie from scratch and we loved the blackboard - one of the beat little touches. The indoor fire was a real treat, warning the reception rooms and making a very cosy atmosphere. Helen was a great host, very friendly and responsive - we plan on coming back to the town and will certainly hope to be hosted by her in the future. Only small negative is some very steep steps at the front of the property, so be aware if you have mobility issues.

**Just amending my listing- my property is rural, no contact with myself. Everything cleaned down throughly after each guest has used the room. ** On the outskirts of Shrewsbury. Beautiful converted cottage, old coach house and barn, in small hamlet, 2 minutes from the A5 Local pub within 1 mile, 2 minute drive. Step straight onto court yard off the bedroom. Shrewsbury 10 minutes drive/ Oswestry 15 minutes.
Private secure parking, located just before the property on the right hand side if approached from Nesscliffe direction. Turn into the gravel driveway and park through opened gate. If you wish to park by the property to unload/load luggage, this is absolutely fine. Please do not park behind the house in the driveway immediately to the right of the house. This is not my driveway! ***Please Please read the directions I send and do not follow the sat nav, it will take you totally out of your way!!!!*****
Nestled beneath Nesscliffe Hill, a popular beauty spot for dog walkers or walkers in general.
  • A clean, .tidy and comfortable option.

  • Sam’s place is a lovely, comfortable, clean and stylish double room with private entrance, private bathroom and private parking in the idyllic location of a small village close to beautiful Shrewsbury. It’s ideal for anybody visiting friends or family or holidaying in the area who don’t need a kitchen/living space but would like the privacy of their own entrance. The place was wonderful for our short two-night stay over New Year’s Eve. We drove to North Wales for hiking and visited friends for NYE in Shrewsbury. The location was perfect. We appreciated the Christmas decorations, generous tea & coffee supplies, cosy central heating, comfortable bed and quiet, private setting via the back courtyard of Sam’s cottage. Sam’s directions and communications were also clear, accurate and timely! Highly recommended.

Plenty of character with the original part of the building dating back to the late 1700's but with all the modern amenities you could wish for. Beautiful surroundings with Mere and canal walks close by. Ellesmere has pubs, eateries and independent shops as well as being served by supermarkets to cater to all your needs. Shrewsbury, Chester and glorious North Wales are all within easy driving distance.

A welcome pack is provided of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits along with some other useful items and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cater for yourselves. • Great stay at Beverley’s. The place was warm and cosy and had great added touches like blankets and essentials. All very clean and tidy and plenty of space for all of the stuff we brought along. Comfy beds and good sheets, all seemed lovely quality. She left the heating and a light on for us for arrival which was perfect. Really quick communication as I had left it a little last minute for a few things. I would definitely stay here again, we all had a great stay.

  • Amazing place to stay and had a really relaxing time for 10days. The area is really friendly and everything you need. Beverley is very helpful and she added little touches to the place that makes it special.... flowers, tea, coffee, new soap, bread, butter etc... It's also nice to see that owners aren't using the cheapest things to fill the house but treat it as if they are living there, that's what Beverley has done. Outstanding. Thank you again, I will definitely stay again and reccomend!!

My new listing is a beautifully converted shepherds hut in a Morrocan theme. The views are outstanding and include Rodney’s Pillar and the Berwyn mountains. The historic St Winifred’s well is a 2 minute walk down the lane which also leads on to the Shropshire Union canal. There are plenty of walks to the local pubs and canal side cafe. A stable that has been converted into a bathroom and kitchen/dining area which is all brand new. Hidden behind the stable is a hot tub looking at the fab views
This quirky hut gives you amazing views with a private area that you won’t want to leave. It’s close to Rodney’s Pillar, Llanrhaedre Waterfall, offa’s Dyke path, Lake Vyrnwy and many more scenic locations ( just ask). Oswestry in 5 mins in the car, Shrewsbury 15mins, Wrexham 25 mins & Chester just 40 mins away.. that’s if you want to leave this tranquil spot!
Close to the canal and St Winifred’s well
  • Absolutely beautiful place, my partner and I had a lovely stay, the hot tub was fun with the prettiest view in sight, second best view after my partner of course :) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying here! P.s the bed is super cozy ! - looking forward to returning!

  • Absolutely lovely shepherds hut. It’s so cosy and really warm (even in windy March). Michelle provided lots of extra blankets too. The hot tub was amazing.. don’t forget to take flip flops though. Couldn’t recommend this place anymore.. it even had all the kitchen utensils and pots/pans you could need. Would love to return in the summer!

    Lucy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting, great facilities, hot tub was a brilliant bonus. Michelle showed us around and completely respected our privacy. Lots of extra blankets for the cold nights. Nice little touch leaving us milk and tea. Will deffo stay again in the summer.

  • The hut is in beautiful countryside with the benefit of a lovely, relaxing hot tub. It was great to be able to take Tom our dog with us. The local pub,The Navigation is super dog friendly and the owners were really friendly too. It's about a 10 minute walk from the hut.

    Jill2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. The host Michelle was fantastic from start to finish, very helpful with any questions I had. Left a note of local places to go. Little touches like that make the difference. The hut was gorgeous! Perfect little weekend get away.

  • Lovely place to stay to relax and unwind. Although we stayed in January, the cabin was nice and warm. The kitchen had all we needed to make dinner and breakfast and the hot tub was fantastic. We bought out cockerpoo dog with us and there were plenty of walks around and she was safe to be let free outside the cabin. I would highly recommend! Thanks so much Michelle :)

The Cabin is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Picturesque walks and cycling on the doorstep. Canalside, so no roads or cars to worry about.
Small cosy space, only 1.8m by 4.8m. but warm and quiet. Television and internet with tea and coffee.
Beautiful scenery, wildlife amazing. On clear nights stars take your breath away.
  • The accomodation was lovely, well kept and quirky! Karen was brilliant especially given the weather at the time of staying! (Storm Dennis). All in all brilliant stay, lovely place, people and location!

  • One of my favourite places to stay in Llangollen. It's right on the canal. Lovely and warm in the winter and the beds really comfy. Lots of thoughtful touches too and very welcoming.

    Bonnie2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy canal-side cabin with double bed & tea/coffee making facilities. Shower & toilet in separate small outbuilding next to the cabin. Bird feeder outside the window brings lots of small birds. Amazing views of surrounding hills.

  • This was our second visit to the beautiful dwelling of Karen and Chris. They are dear people and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I highly recommend this stay. Can't wait to come back and see them again.

    Vanessa2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a superb, quirky place to stay! Very compact, but didn't spoil our stay. Karen the host was there to greet us, and was eager to say she was on call for any needs- although we didn't need anything from her. The situation is idyllic, with direct access to the canal towpath, and would be a lovely walk in daylight! (We walked into Llangollen- about 25minutes- in the dark, and it was a bit hairy! Glad we did it though.) The wet room is separate from the living space, but very close, and there is also access to a fridge, microwave etc, also outside. Bed is super comfortable, and there are fab views to wake up to. If you are looking for something 'different' then this is most definitely the place for you! Thank you, Karen!

  • A really nice cottage, comfortable walking distance to the village's shop and two pubs serving food. Joe was away at the time I was there but the key was in the key safe and she'd left me a note explaining where I could lock my bike away. She had also left some milk in the fridge and invited me to help myself to tea and coffee, which was a nice touch. A great place to stay for the evening after my long bike ride - thoroughly recommended.

  • This is one of the most special homes we've stayed in! It is a work of art, covered in art! It's an absolutely delightful place to be. Be sure to plan time in your holiday to spend time in the house, you'll be happy you did. There were so many extra touches to make the stay fun, like a karaoke machine, foosball table, and disco lights! There were tons of plates and cups, so it's great for a group. The best are comfortable, the bathrooms are lovely, we were all very comfortable there. This home is good for families or groups of adults. There is plenty of onsite parking and it's a very walkable location. I highly recommend! Thank you Simon for sharing your special home.

We drove to a nearby village for a long walk in the countryside and returned to the church for a night on of cooking and relaxing. The bedrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are just lovely. Would absolutely recommend Simons place for a big group trip!

  • Lovely chalet in a great location, about 20 minutes away from attractions such as Powis Castle or Pistyll Rheadr. Check in was very easy, Cheryl messaged well in advance to ensure everything goes smoothly and communication was great. The place was immaculate, equipped with pretty much everything needed to feel at home (fully equipped kitchen including oven, pots, pans and all sorts of cooking utensils, iron, toiletries, clean towels plus some extra), plus a few thoughtful touches such as a few blankets, milk, tea and coffee and biscuits. The park is very peaceful and it has a small shop at the entrance which is very convenient. Can be used as a hub for exploring Wales, or you can enjoy the fabulous surroundings, go for walks alongside the river and enjoy the wildlife. It is difficult to put it into words how amazing the place is, both the chalet and the surroundings exceeded our expectations. Thank you Cheryl for a lovely stay, will definitely return!

  • A beautiful location, excellent host and great value for money. We had a relaxing three night stay in the chalet. There is all the equipment you need if you wish to stay in and cook for yourself. The bathroom is sparkling clean and has a lovely shower. People on the site are friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of places to get out and about for a stroll in and take in the outstanding scenery on offer. We will definitely return!

Barn converted in 2019! A cosy home with underfloor heating, woodburner, fully equipped kitchenette, private parking. 200m from steam train station, with a pub and canal just across the river. 1 mile from the centre of Llangollen which has many restaurants and activities.
Downstairs there is a hallway, living room with kitchenette, and a separate bathroom with shower. There is underfloor heating throughout the downstairs, a woodburner, and HD TV (currently no live TV but Netflix and other on-demand services available). Stairs lead up to the bedroom with king sized bed. Dog friendly. The barn has its own private driveway. The kitchenette has an oven/microwave, and fridge with freezer compartment. There is an outdoor plug which can be used to charge an electric car for a small additional charge (or type 1 7kW charger available at our house). We've listed it as not suitable for children due to the open staircase and fire, but please get in touch if you could like to bring a child. Early check-in or late check-out is usually fine if we don't have an immediate booking, please get in touch first to check.
We love being just a mile out out of Llangollen meaning we have easy access to town but it's a lot less busy. The Chainbridge pub is a 5 minute walk away and you'll hear the steam train chugging past! The barn is on a quiet lane, but does look over the A5 so you may get some road noise, especially if you have the windows open. Our post code is LL20 8AL.
  • Lovely stay at hen pandy barn last weekend! Place was very tidy upon arrival and a lot of information provided to help with stay. Underfloor heating was nice touch and helped to keep the place cosy alongside the fire. Easy to get in and out of town using bumble taxis. Will be back again soon.

  • Kay's place was in an ideal location, with a very nice walk along a canal/river very close and the nice town of llangollen veryy close

  • We loved our stay here! So cosy, by the fire. Lovely little touches - cookies, milk, toiletries and Alexa there to tell us the news, give us the weather forecast and play our favourite tunes. All sparkling clean, spacious shower and large bed. Great location for Llangollen (lovely walk along canal path) steam train and Chainbridge hotel next to the river. Thank you Kay!

    Sarah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy place to stay for two. A great location that’s a pleasant walk into Llangollen making it the perfect base for exploring the area and relaxing for a break in North Wales.

The toiletries provided were a nice touch, and the kitchen was very well equipped. 10/10 would definitely recommend. 1hr from Bala lake, 1+hr from Snowdonia and a short walk from Llangollen and a local Aldi store.

Escape the rat race.....come and unwind........a warm welcome awaits you at my lovely old Welsh country cottage dated circa 1650......come and be close to nature, birds and animals (you have to like dogs, ducks, chickens and wildlife!), take your time in a nurturing natural environment.
Tŷ Isaf is a traditional Welsh stone cottage situated in the stunning Ceiriog Valley. The cottage is very old built circa 1650, it is clean and warm.....but not modernised.....it has wonky walls, old beams and floorboards and flaking plaster and wallpaper because I am slowly renovating.......character I say........but that may not be to your liking! Nevertheless, my home has a lovely welcoming, warm, relaxed atmosphere........ everyone loves Tŷ Isaf! I have a single bed available at first floor level in a single room. The double room is taken by my lodger. There are two bathrooms, a sunny kitchen/dining room and a snug lounge with a huge open fireplace with a wood burner for a fire if it's cold. I have two small friendly dogs and I currently keep free range ducks and chickens outside in the large garden which is visited by a huge variety of wild birds. The surrounding fields are full of wild flowers, sheep and cows........so this listing will suit active, outdoorsy, easy going walkers/country people who are ok with the unpredictable and sometimes messy antics of animals and mud!
Glyn Ceiriog is a very beautiful, unspoilt Welsh valley steeped in history and culture with a thriving community spirit, lots of wonderful walks in the wilderness of the Berwyn and Llantysilio mountains, bike rides and horse riding. There are sooo many interesting places to visit including the 11 mile long UNESCO World Heritage Site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and the Llangollen Canal, National Trust properties at Erddig and Chirk Castle etc. The spectacular market town of Llangollen on the River Dee with its steam railway and canal and the wonderful Castell Dinas Brân and limestone escarpment and International Music Eisteddfod in July. Spend a pleasant afternoon in the charming market town of Oswestry which has many small individual shops and cafe's.
  • I highly recommend this cottage, a warm welcome awaits you and you will be close to places such as Llangollen and its Aqueduct or the Pystill Rhaeadr waterfall (40 minutes). The cottage is a charming building and the room is ideal for a single person.

A private, simply furnished cabin at the bottom of our garden within the World Heritage Site. The cabin has two single beds. There is a shower room and toilet ten steps from the cabin . We are 100 metres from a great pub which serves real ales and excellent food. The space is very private with access to a small garden. We are a 5 minute walk from Thomas Telfords famous aqueduct. Offas Dyke path is at the bottom of our drive. We are close to Trevor Barns and Tyn Dwr Hall wedding venues.
Our house overlooks the Llangollen canal. We are right by the Froncysyllte turning circle for the narrow boats. The accommodation is in our back garden but guests are very welcome to sit out the front and watch the world go by.
A very quiet area. We are within walking distance of Chirk Castle. The Offa's Dyke foot path goes along the bottom of our drive. There is a small cafe and a Takeaway on the A5 about a five minute walk. The Aqueduct Inn is a great place to eat. Booking is strongly recommended please ph(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).

Recently modernised with stunning countryside views this spacious cottage is the perfect setting to relax and unwind. The Glade is a basic camping pod with double bed, sofa, fire pit and veranda in woodland high above the town of Llangollen with stunning views down the valley and across to the Castle. A quiet space to sit, watch nature and rest your legs at the end of the day. If drinking and loud music is your thing this may not be the place for you. The Hut is a steep 50m walk away from your car, so don't pack too much, you need to bring your own duvet/sleeping bags , we provide a bottom sheet and pillows.
The walk to the Glade is only to be undertaken by the hardiest of souls, it is STEEP, but once there, the solitude and views make up for it in every sense, the toilet block is a very strenuous 100 m away, so don't forget your tooth brush. You'll need a torch, good shoes and a camera It's quite likely you'll be joined by our Buzzards who regularly circle feet away from the Glade and if you sit still the rabbits and pheasants will undoubtedly come to join you. The Glade is shaded from the sun in the morning and insulated so you'll get to lie in without getting too warm or too cold. There is a fire pit, with an infinite supply of kindly. There are a number of piles of dead wood to use in the woodland, but we advise you buy a bag of logs from the hardware store in town, as you never quite know what the weather will be like in Wales and the wood may be wet! We have a toilet/shower block about 100 m away down the hill , with the centre of town only being a 7 min walk. If you don't have a vehicle and CAN'T bring your own duvet, let us know well in advance and we'll provide one for you.

  • A lovely night away. I thought the hill was going to be a lot worse than what it was! The hut is very clean and it was perfect just to getaway for a while and sit in front of the camp fire. Aldi is just down the bottom of the hill which is brilliant for convenience! We ordered a pizza, collected it and ate it by the fire. We arrived on the motorbike and the parking was very easy. Thank you to the hosts!

  • The Glade was what it said on the tin really. A clean little hut with a beautiful view. We were unfortunate that we had awful weather so didn’t get to explore as much as we would’ve liked (obviously couldn’t have been helped) but the small walk we did go on was lovely. Be aware that when it’s raining it steep slopes to get to the hut is extremely slippery and you will have to go down and up these slopes to go to the toilet/shower block.

    Charlotte2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We stopped off here on the way to a sponsored hike of Snowdon. Great for purpose and amenities were sufficient and well thought out. The icing on the cake was Janet was very accommodating of our request of allowing 3 dogs and there was no breed specific prejudice which was an absolute blessing. Would definitely recommend and would stay again!

    Rochelle2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Glade is the perfect place for a quick escape from reality. The hut was comfortable, clean and easy to find. Would definitely return!

    Emily2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an enjoyable and hassle free stay at the Glade. Communication with Janet was always quick and easy, and the location was great for our overnight stop on the from London to Anglesey. The Glade was clean and comfortable on arrival, and cosy overnight. Views were great across the valley, even in the overcast weather. We enjoyed the rope up the hill as we didn’t have much luggage - the steep access was no issue, the toilet and shower were clean and walking distance from the main cabin. Llangollen was great to explore and we ate at the Corn Mill overlooking the river and falls on Janet’s recommendation - fantastic meal. We’d definitely stop over again on a trip to wales.

Several pubs, restaurants and cafes are within a 10 minute walk. The location is ideal for exploring the north and West of Wales together with Cheshire and Shropshire. This property is conveniently situated close to the town's main bus stop providing links to Shrewsbury and Gobowen railway station. A lovely area to explore.

Ellesmere is a quaint English market town near the Welsh border. It is a quiet town but there are often events going on especially on the weekends. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the property and a visit to the nearby Cremorne gardens, by the Mere, is a must. Ellesmere is a fantastic place for walking and cycling - and leaflets recommending routes are kept in the cottage.

  • A wonderful venue. A beautiful little cottage, situated only a short walk from the centre of Ellesmere and the Mere itself. Well equipped house, particularly for those with small children. Nice little touches, like the selection of teas provided as well as cooking basics. The very responsive host even replied to my questions late at night quickly. The only drawback I can think of is that the drive is a bit narrow; there is, however, on-street parking nearby if you struggle to get your car in. A thoroughly pleasant stay and a great host. Thank you!

We met Pip in her shop where we popped in for some lovely tasty treats, and she was super lovely and helpful. Thanks to her top tips we finally mastered (in in one!) the parking space on our final night!

We had a lovely couple of days away and would recommend Ellesmere to anyone visiting Shropshire. Beautiful walks, friendly people and great places to eat. Our home, Ty Gwyn, is a characterful artist’s house situated in the borderland market town of Oswestry, close to all amenities and with off-road parking. The town has galleries, museums and quality restaurants and is well placed for exploring beautiful countryside of the Welsh borders, Shropshire & Cheshire. The Welsh coast is an easy daytrip and Liverpool, Manchester or Birmingham can be reached for a night out. Also close to the world class facilities of the RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital, Gobowen.
Ty Gwyn was built in stages between the early 18th century and Edwardian times and is full of historic flavour. Recently renovated, the sunny room offers a king-sized bed with quality bedlinen, a sofa and an en suite with spacious walk-in power shower. There are original solid timber floorboards and a quality Persian rug. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided along with plenty of books to read. There is a private entrance via the garden and up granary steps to a roof terrace which also is yours to enjoy, with comfortable lounger chairs. The steps on the roof garden are higher than the norm but are safe.
We are in the middle of Oswestry with a good range of national and local shops plus many restaurants, coffee shops and bars to suit all tastes and purses within easy walking distance. Across the road we have a local store, open long hours, supplying a wide range of necessities as well as freshly baked bread and croissants. Oswestry hosts a Recital Series, with renowned classical musicians, spanning the year and the nearby village of Whittington (also home to a pretty castle with regular re-enactments and other events) has a Music Festival every May. There are folk, jazz, rock and other musical events at a number of venues around town and in the area. There is an excellent local independent cinema (Kinokulture) and an award winning bookshop (Booka) in town. Our favourite place to eat out is the excellent 4* Sebastians French restaurant, just a few steps down the road. We've been going there for 30 years and never been disappointed (you're best to book). The Montgomery Canal with its colourful traditional narrowboats, runs through the countryside south of town from Welshpool to Ellesmere and beyond, linking with the Llangollen Canal, famed for its spectacular aqueducts, designated a World Heritage Site. The old limekilns at Llanymynech are well worth a visit and the pretty town of Ellesmere (7miles) sits amongst a cluster of lakes or meres which are wonderful for walkers, dinghy sailors and birdwatchers alike. Offa’s Dyke runs close by and the Shropshire hills, Mid Wales and Snowdonia are all great areas for walkers. Llangollen, with its famous International Eisteddfod and many other attractions, is only 13 miles away and Shrewsbury (19miles) and Chester (27 miles)are both reached by major roads. National Trust properties in the area include Powis Castle, famed for its gardens and connections with Clive of India, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park.
  • A lovely spacious room, with separate entrance. Thoughtful touches including fresh milk and soap with the towels. Ian showed me round the room and how to use the lovely shower. I would stay again.

  • The room was lovely and quirky, large very comfy bed, powerful shower, beautiful terrace and garden which has a lot of love and hard work put into it. Hilary was very welcoming on our arrival though we had complete privacy. The local restaurant The Townhouse was just a few doors down, lovely food catering to all dietary needs at extremely affordable prices. The town with all it's amenities a few minutes walk away and Oswestry itself is one of the happiest, friendly places we've ever visited, Highly recommended x

  • Hillary and Ian never cease to go above and beyond each time we visit. Easy speedy communication. Fantastic location. Beautiful rooms! A secret garden oasis to be proud of and admired with joy. The secret is out.

  • We had a perfect stay. Ian was a very welcoming Host, who kept his distance during our stay, but was available if we needed him. We did not feel like we were staying in someones home which was ideal for us. The bedroom is a lovely space, and the garden is too. We didn't get the weather to use the Roof Garden, but it's easy to imagine its ideal in the sunshine. We stayed with the purpose of spending some time in the town, and as a base for visiting the local area. This worked out well on both counts. My only comment for future guests, would be that the entrance via the roof top garden has a few last steps that might be unsuitable for anyone unsteady on their feet or infirm. Just something to be aware of. There have been comments from previous Guests, about the shower. This has been replaced by Ian & is working very well. We would happily stay again, and recommend to others.

  • This property is simply a little piece of heaven. We have stayed twice now , each time Hillary and Ian have gone above and beyond expecations to welcome us into their home and make sure we are comfortable and looked after. The garden is an oasis with curiosities artistically hidden, with fresh summer fruits fruits apple trees Grapevines and flowers at every angle. We love the location, an easy short walk to town center. Shadow the cat is a beautiful friendly gentle addition to the visit. Easy check in and great communication. Will be back soon x
