  • One of the most unique Airbnb’s I’ve stayed at. Great hosts. Amazingly designed cabin in a beautiful location.

    Liam2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff’s place is the best cabin that you can find around. Great location, the best views, the cabin is Clean and smells really good. We are definitely coming back. At least 4-5 days more. Thanks

  • You will not regret staying here! Beautiful cabin in a great location! Only about an hour or so from Breckenridge, two hours from Denver. Colene and Jeff were great communicators and were there if we needed anything!

    Ashley2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a blast here. My partner and I stayed just for the night. Wanted to get away and destress for his birthday, so this snowy cabin fit the bill. It was clean and cozy - such a beautiful home with warming touches throughout the house.. neatly built as well. The upper deck had an awesome view and binoculars to see it better. Sadly, no wildlife sightings this visit. We loved the hot tub on the lower deck and enjoyed sipping tea and playing banagrams (which we brought) by the fire. The Piano was a nice surprise and I would say is what made this place so special for my partner who played it all through the night. Jeff and Colene were excellent communicators and had the house nice and warm with the fire crackling for us by the time we got there (: overjoyed and would love to return just us, and/or with friends!

    Nicole2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! The fire & the hot tub were so nice surrounded by such a winter wonderland!

    Angel2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is pretty great. Has a real homey feel, great light and can be wonderful place to reconnect with friends and family. The hot tub is also great!

    Devin2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is placed in such a beautiful setting with views of the mountains at sunrise. We enjoyed Jeff and Colenes cabin, especially the hot tub after long hikes up quandary and snowboarding at breck! Thanks!!

The house was very clean and had everything we needed, even our own chapstick (which I didn't think to bring)! Their property has a gorgeous view, I will definitely book again, this is our new Colorado spot!

We are a family-owned operated ranch located on 35-wooded acres in the Tarryall valley with 365 degree views of the best, most breathtaking mountain vistas in Colorado. We are minutes walk to world-class fishing, the Colorado Trail and Lost Park Wilderness, with hundreds more acres of woods and fields to explore. The area offers many advanced and novice hiking and horseback riding trails, along with 14,000 foot mountains to explore.
Owners live on the premises and the rental is a private basement suite with a private entry and a private deck, BBQ-grill, a porch swing, and comfortable patio furniture. The deck is enclosed for your pet's security. The suite includes a private bathroom with a soaker tub, a small kitchenette with a refrigerator large enough to accommodate snacks and microwaveable dinners. Also included is a large microwave, and a Keurig machine. We offer complimentary coffee (with creamer/sugar) various teas, water and soft drinks.
We live in a very rural area and amenities are very limited. The nearest town - Jefferson, is 10 miles from the cabin and it is very small. It includes a small market that offers a grill style breakfast and lunch menu. The town of Fairplay is 20 miles South, and they offer more choices for lunch and dinner.

  • I can't put into words how amazing our stay was! Cristina was such a sweet person and helped us out with every single issue we had. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a pleasant experience. The room was sparkling clean and her property has an amazing view. Not to mention the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Would give 10 stars if possible! Cristina, thank you so much for the stay!

    Kijana2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was just what I needed! It was beautiful scenery, comfortable soft bed, and enough beverages to water an army! Having a 4-wheel drive vehicle is a must if it is snowy but it was still easy to navigate! At night there are stars galore! The floors in the restroom are heated, and my pup loved it! All in all this was an amazing stay!

It is walking distance from all Fairplay has to offer: bars, restaurants, museum, beach, Burro Days event and festivals. A short drive to hike 4 of the fourteeners near Alma or to explore nearby area for ATVing, snowmobiling, horse-back riding and hunting. Only 30 minutes from Breckenridge for world class skiing and a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and about an hour drive from others well-known ski resorts. The Arkansas river is around 40 minutes away for kayaking, rafting, and fishing.
It is perfect for people that are looking for a comfy place to spend the night after a long ski, hike or a busy working day. This private room can be locked for safety and privacy. Common laundry area and back yard access with owner members and eventual other guests that occupy the second room available for rent. The room offers a comfy queen bed, two spacious closets, a mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and TV. Free access to Dish tv and wi-fi. Separate private full bathroom is located just outside the room. Hairdryer and towels available. Laundry use permitted during the scheduled time. This family and two lovely dogs occupy the house full time and share the laundry area with guests. The dogs do not have access to guest area. Please expect normal household sounds such as the laundry machine or the vacuum between the hours of 8 am until 9 pm.
This is a perfect place for outdoor lovers: far enough from the busy and chaotic Front Range of Denver and Colorado Springs with all the conveniences that a little town can offer.

Our family built a straw bale and earthship home off the grid on 44 acres. We are opening up the straw bale home to airbnb guests and are happy to show and explain how the earthship works. We provide wood and a fire pit seating area for beautiful nights under the stars. (The house is located at roughly 10,000 feet and from the highway the house is two miles on unmaintained roads. It is possible, although rare, that the house may be inaccessible by car during the winter months. Dec.-Mar.)
The straw bale home is very cozy and comfortable with two new queen size beds, a stove, nice living room with a great view of the mountains to the west, a bathroom with a bathtub shower and a fully equipped kitchen.
The south park valley is huge and ranches are very spread out. We often see antelope foxes and big jack rabbits in the area.
  • If you are looking for an oasis of solitude, beauty, hospitality, and overall get-away-from-it-all-ness, this is your place!

    Rebecca2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the straw bale house! Peaceful and quiet, beautiful mountain views, and a fireplace to keep things cozy! Our 5 year old son loved playing with their friendly dog! There was no WiFi and we didn’t get good cell service, but that is ok because we just wanted to unplug and enjoy some family time! If there hadn’t been a fire ban, we would have loved to have a cookout at the fire pit! The place was clean and well stocked and Kip and family were very friendly!

    Candice2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Place was so peaceful!

    Kyle2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at the Strawbale house! It was quiet, peaceful, and comfortable, and you can’t beat the views of sunsets and stars. Not too far from places to pick up supplies, and miles upon miles of beautiful hikes and drives nearby. The house is clean, warm, and cozy. Minimal cell service was a plus & helped us unwind. Thanks for a great stay!

  • Thanks for another great stay!

  • It's a rustic feeling cabin in a secluded town. The views are great. This is a wonderful place for getaway. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the area as well.

  • Randy’s cabin style cottage was a perfect secluded get away my girlfriend and I were looking for. The location is about 35-40 minutes from Breckenridge but is off the beaten path. The views of the snow cover mountains and hills were great. The cottage is quaint and comfortable. The antique iron fire place was the best element in the house. Find the location and checking in was a breeze. If you are looking for a quiet and affordable place to stay and take in the outdoors for skiing, hiking, or maybe even hunting, this is the spot.

    Jon2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our visit to Como, excellent hiking, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The cabin was great, clean, cozy, and well appointed. Easy check in and out. We'll be back!

    Nicholas2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable, clean, and very affordable. Beautiful surrounding area and about 45 minutes from Breckenridge. Would recommend for anyone traveling with outdoor activities in mind.

    Matthew2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay in Como. It was the perfect place for our family. Our kids absolutely loved playing in the loft and being able to bring our dog is kind of a necessity for us. It is really a fun cabin with everything we needed. Como is kind of a cool historic ghost town with beautiful mountains all around. Can't get much better than that for our family. We were all sad we had to leave and wished we could have stayed longer.

    Karen2020-02-29T00:00:00Z

The cabin has two bedrooms one bath and a loft area which includes a bed with access to secure evening star gazing. Hot tub is located behind the cabin on the 360 surround deck. The pool table and Xbox are located below the cabin. (nice 420 area)
We have only one neighbor and lots of Mule Deer, Bob Cat and sometimes even a Bear! Most guests will tell you that Red's is a remote retreat to relax and enjoy life.
  • This was our second time back at Red’s Retreat and it’s always a good time! We snowboarded 5 of the 7 days and it was so nice to come back to the cabin and chill in the hot tub. We love coming to visit Red and sweet Nina girl! I highly recommend staying at Red’s for a beautiful view, relaxing vacation and good conversation. This place is home away from home. A week in the mountains is never enough! Thank you Red for not only being such a great host but becoming a great friend to us!

    Carolyn2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • 5 STARS! This three story cabin is amazing with every amenity you could imagine. Red was a very hospitable and helpful super host. Truly beautiful location. Close to Black Hawk casinos, Pikes Peak, and Denver. The game room was my favorite room. Thank you for towing us out of the snow hours before our flight... we wouldn't have made it without his help.

    John2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cutest cabin up in the mountains with the most amazing views! Red is hands down the sweetest host you will ever get to meet. I spent my 30th there and he surprised us all by playing the accordion and signing me happy birthday and a key lime pie! The game room was fantastic as well!!

    Jeannette2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely blown away by Red and his place (and his cute pup Nina)! Made our trip 20 times better ❤️

    Brittny2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • By far my personal favorite Airbnb that I’ve ever stayed at. Perfect getaway to disconnect. Thanks Red, we hope to stay again in the future!

    Bradley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Red is such an amazing host! We've stayed with red twice now, and each time has always been amazing. The cabin has wonderful views of the mountains, unless you're there when it's snowing! Red will also give suggestions on how the weather is, and what would be the best route to take. If you are coming during the winter months, pay attention to snow fall. I would *not* risk a low clearance vehicle during winter months!!

    Char2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give it 1,000 stars for each and every star we had seen with our eyes at night there... I would. Talk about a getaway! Red is THE man and his cabin is a beautiful mountain escape. So clean, so comfortable, so much fun. The hot tub was a huge bonus, the pool table was super fun and his hospitality was A+. Probably my favorite Airb&b stay yet. The ice machine was a great addition for cocktails. The heated blankets warmed the beds up. The view was amazing every morning and plenty of coffee to go with it. There is a cable tv but who needs that when you have the game room downstairs. He even left board games out. Plenty of condiments in the fridge.. plenty of towels.. plenty of fun. He even used his snow blower to shovel out the driveway in the morning, what a gentleman. My only complaint is we didn’t wake up at 6am to join Red on his porch with his freshly roasted coffee... ugh. But there’s always next time.. and we will be back! Thanks again!!

    Kelsey2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Red’s Retreat is an awesome get away spot with breathtaking views. Red was also a huge help and very friendly — we enjoyed all of our conversations with him! If you’re looking to be out in the mountains, then this is the perfect spot for you. We enjoyed the hot tub, scenery, company, and cabin. It was truly perfect! I would encourage everyone to stay at Red’a Retreat — you will not be disappointed! Thanks again, Red! -Sam and Luke

Take a break from the world and enjoy 3.5 wooded acres at 9,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains. This home is designed and inspired by hygge (hu-geh), a Danish word and lifestyle that evokes the feeling of coziness, well-being, and simple pleasures. An outdoor steam sauna, 2 decks, and amazing views await you. Get cozy, explore, play games, hammock, read, take day trips, and make unforgettable memories with your loved ones. Refocus, rejuvenate, and relax in this intentionally curated space...
Follow on Instagram and tag your stay @hyggechalet_co The Hygge Chalet is located in the rural Rocky Mountains of Colorado, It is only 1 hour from downtown Denver and 1 hour to multiple ski resorts. There is an abundance of outdoor activities nearby that make perfect for day trips in the mountains. Upon booking, a personalized website detailing all the things to do and see will be provided. The home is a 1970's A-Frame, inspired by Scandinavia. It has a modern and clean design with a cottage vibe. Living Essentials: The home is 1400 square feet with an open floor plan. There is a full kitchen with granite counters, high-quality cookware, and all dining essentials. Basics such as, cooking oil, salt and pepper, a few spices, condiments, etc. are provided. A fair-trade and organic hot drink bar with Chemex coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is also yours to indulge in. The home is stocked with good reads, lots of board games, an iPad for movies, music, and information, a Bluetooth speaker loud enough to fill the home, a gas fireplace for ambiance, and a drawer of candles, incense, and oils to help create your own hygge vibes. All high-quality linens, towels, robes, and slippers are freshly-washed. Bed & Bath: Both the loft and bedroom have super comfortable memory foam queen beds. The bathroom has a walk-in shower (no tub) and many toiletries and extras you might need. Sauna: The barrel steam sauna truly sets this place apart from all the rest. It's easy to use and allows you to sauna bathe in the traditional Finnish way by pouring water onto heated rocks to create steam. Most nights in the Rockies are clear enough to see the Milky Way and star-gazing is exceptional here, especially when taking a cool-down break from the sauna. Outdoor Living: The 3.5 acres of land is mostly wooded and backs up to National Forest. There are 2 decks and a porch area with stunning views, cafe lights, a picnic table, a gas grill for cooking out (seasonal), and plenty of hammocks (also seasonal) and Adirondack chairs to keep you content. Behind the home is a street art-inspired mural with an Aspen and Mandala scene created by a local Denver artist. Please Note: While the home is very private and at the top of the hill, it is in a neighborhood and has proximity with the main road. Depending on the weather and traffic (especially holiday weekends), the sounds from the road vary. If you're expecting absolute silence and seclusion, this might not be the place for you. In winter, this proximity to highway is appreciated by guests because of the snow. Like most mountain homes in the area, there are a few neighbors nearby. This lowers the environmental impact of development, but also means you'll see a few other homes on your way up. While the home sits at the top of a hill and is surrounded by trees, private does not mean secluded. The closest neighbors are Nicki and Damon. They are very friendly and hospitable. Nicki is the cleaner/assistant for the chalet and Damon does general maintenance along with snow plowing... so feel free to wave or say "Hi!" if you see them! They're great to have nearby if an urgent need should arise.
Upon booking, you will be provided with a website I've created that is filled with day-trip itineraries, lots of information on places to visit, things to do and see, places to hike/snowshoe, and places to eat and drink. It also includes an interactive map with categories and distances from the chalet to help you plan your trip! I am passionate about Colorado and dedicated to making your visit one for the books! The chalet is located just off of 285, which is a plowed, well-maintained highway to get you safely and easily exploring. The home is right next to Guanella Pass, which provides an incredible mountain drive of spectacular views, other-worldy landscapes at 12,000 feet, big horn sheep, winding streams, waterfalls, and lots of hiking. The pass takes you to the cutest mountain town, Georgetown and other neat places along the i-70 corridor. This is also one of the most sought-after locations for aspen leaf peeping in fall. The pass is closed in winter (late-Nov to late-May) but there is still plenty to do in winter and Georgetown/i-70 is accessible through Evergreen all year. Going over Kenosha Pass takes you to South Park (yes, the town from the TV show), Buena Vista, Salida, etc. which is an area loaded with things to do and see all year round, including 2 exceptional hot springs! The cabin is close to stunning hikes of various difficulties, world-class fishing, adventure activities (zip-line, whitewater, etc.), cultural and historical activities (ghost towns, mining for gold, dinosaur fossils, etc.), surreal leaf peeping in the fall, horseback riding, ATV, train rides, sleigh rides, snowshoeing/snowmobiling in winter, cute mountain towns to explore, and so many fantastic local breweries, distilleries, and restaurants. The are a couple cafes nearby where you can experience true mountain friendliness. The closest and the best (just down the hill) is the Shaggy Sheep. Make sure to stop in and say "Hi!" to Sarah and Chris. Red Rocks Amphitheater is just 40 minutes away. This is considered one of the best places in the world to see a concert and doing so should be on anyone's bucket list. Check the website for the schedule. Even if you can't make a show, the park is on the way to/from Denver and well-worth a visit. The closest ski resort is Breckenridge at just an hour's drive (and a beautiful one) and is a perfect day trip to ski/snowboard or just hang around in a beautiful ski town (there is a lot to do and see here no matter the time of year). Vail is 2 hours away and there are a handful of others just 1.5 hours away. There are plenty of mountain activities to fill your days with during ALL of Colorado's incredible 4 seasons! Each season provides a different experience, but no matter what time of year you comes, no matter which direction you go, and no matter what you decide to do, the drives will be beautiful and there will plenty to keep you occupied and content.
  • This was a magnificent getaway. An easy drive from Denver, and yet you feel totally secluded. The Sauna was the best amenity, so, so lovely! Plus, the small touches of the chemex coffee maker, the snacks, sparkling water, and extra toothbrushes and toothpaste made us feel so comfortable. I also loved the sustainability that is at the forefront of this place...natural bath products, seventh generation toilet paper, reusable mugs, recycling is a must, and organic and fair trade food items. Every detial is thought of in this place! We will return again soon!

  • This place was the definition of serenity. It’s cozy and elegant and me and my girlfriend couldn’t have had a better experience here. The views are amazing and the decor throughout the house is delightful. There is plenty of things to do around the area. If you want a private exclusion in the mountains with wonderful amenities this is the place for you.

    Blake2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • The hygge chalet exceeded our expectations! The home is warm and cozy with thoughtful touches as soon as you walk in the door. Very private and Serene. With it being so private make sure you load up on grocery’s before you get there the nearest store is 30-40 minutes away! Just be prepared and you will have a lovely time. I throughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again when we are in the area! Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

    Crystal2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Hygge Chalet is outstanding! Everything we wanted and more in a weekend getaway in the mountains. The pictures, although accurate, don’t do it enough justice. The chalet is an ultra cozy, sparkling clean, tastefully decorated and well appointed home. I thought twice about leaving such a glowing review for fear it would be booked so often we’d never be able to get back there again. But....everyone should have a chance to experience such a jewel. Book it, you won’t be disappointed!

    Tanya2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is WONDERFUL! Highly suggest staying here. I had no issues whatsoever. Great location, super clean, and very stylish. Plenty of room and Amenities. Loved my stay!

  • If you are looking for a unique and cozy get away in the mountains, this is your place! I’m this busy world there isn’t a lot of time away from electronics. But here we spent time playing games listening to music and laughing! The perfect location! Gorgeous drive to Breckenridge and other ski slopes or you can be in Denver in less than 2 hrs. The place was easy to get to with a 4 whee drive. Very spotless and had everything we needed and more. Highly recommend

    Nicole2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • I don't normally write reviews, but I felt compelled to leave this review here. Julie has created an incredibly special place in the mountains and I would 100% recommend it for anyone looking to get away at any time of year. The Hygge chalet is better than it is in pictures. Every single detail has been thoughtfully considered and selected--down to chemex and delicious coffee and snacks, to the Scandinavian furnishings, bedding, sauna, and bathroom extras. This is one of those moments where the pictures don't do justice to the place. We stayed here with friends visiting from out of town and the whole weekend, we were surprised and delighted discovering one detail after another. Julie's list of activities was also perfect. We are new to CO and don't know the area that well, but we had a magical weekend driving through the mountains and snowmobiling in Breckenridge, per Julie's suggestions (about 1 hour drive away). On a personal note, I lived in Denmark a few years ago and Julie has truly captured and essence and joy of "hygge" in that she created a beautiful space of rest, relaxation, with little notes of luxury that are appropriate for the mountains and a weekend away. We all felt in awe of nature, quiet, and the joy of good friendship after this short weekend. And finally on a side note, Julie was an amazing host. I had a number of questions, changes, and reservation issues with Airbnb and she addressed them immediately and was very concerned with us having a great weekend. (Airbnb also did eventually address the issues.) We will definitely be back!

Our home is a cozy little spot that's nestled in a cute Mtn neighborhood up on Boreas Pass. Close to many hiking and Mtn biking trails and just a 7min drive to down town Breckenridge. We offer a quaint clean room, wifi, full kitchen and grill, and a large deck with great views for your enjoyment! This is our full time home that my husband Mike, our dog Charlie and I rent out home on the weekends. Although we will not be there during your stay you will see a few personal things.
This accommodation is a house that has a personal driveway with parking spots. It is a three bed house but we only rent out our extra room on the weekends. The house has a washer/dryer, outdoor grill, full kitchen, living room cable and wifi and a large deck in a quite neighborhood with surrounding forest and mountain views. The room offer a nice cozy bed a fan to keep you cool and a floor board heater to keep you warm.
We are up on the hill side of the town of Breckenridge. Our home is surrounded by trees and you can see the 10 mile range from our front porch. They are building a house neighborhood but they are only here on the weekdays so the weekend should be nice and quiet.
  • Great place to stay!

  • Awesome mountain cabin with easy/quick access to hiking, Breckenridge and everything you need to enjoy the mountains. Very close to several great hiking trails. Clean and well thought out accommodations. Timely communication, easy access. We even saw a mother and baby moose while watching a mountain sunset from the deck. Excellent trip.

  • If you are looking for a nice quite place outside of the crowds of downtown Breck (about 5-7 min drive) this place is perfect, Big deck, with great views. We had our morning coffee while watching a deer eat her breakfast just below us. Trail heads are just a couple hundred yards down the road or follow it the country road further to the Boreas Pass Road which will lead to some fantastic hikes above the tree line (Black Powder trail & Baker's Tank) It does live up to it's title of Mountain Adventure House!!

    Steve2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Hannah's place is the perfect getaway. It's a short drive up the mountain from downtown Breckenridge and has everything you need (and more). Communication was extremely timely and Hannah also gave us tips and ideas for things to do and see during our stay. Cannot recommend this place and host enough!

    Max2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time at this charming AirBnB. Hobart, the cat, was so friendly and cute! Funny story, Hobart darted outside when we opened door so we were a little worried about leaving him outside since it's getting cold but we contacted the owners and they replied promptly via text to let us know he was fine and to just prop a window open and sure enough, Hobart came back inside a couple hours later on his own. Loved the location, what a value! I'll definitely look for this place again next time I head to Breck!

Rustic, well-appointed, off-grid cabin right on Tarryall Creek, with more than 5 acres of solitude and 360-degree mountain views. This is our dream place to escape, unwind, and listen to the creek from the bedroom. It's remote and quiet, but accessible year-round: 1 hour 15 mins from Denver and 50-mins from Breckenridge. Newly renovated with large kitchen (and antique 1920s stove), barnwood accents, huge 450sf deck, and historic decor from Como's goldrush. Dogs welcome, too.
Our cabin sits on five acres at 10,600 feet elevation. We're close to Denver, Breckenridge, and Fairplay... but surrounded by national forest. Our cabin is just under 1,000sf, but it feels nice and roomy with a large living area and great kitchen. The bedroom is cozy, with a fantastic view of Mt. Little Baldy out the window and the sound of Tarryall Creek when the weather's warm enough to crack the window. We're off-grid up here. Solar powers the cabin, so you have to watch your energy consumption, especially in winter. But propane heats the water and shower, and provides back-up heat to the cabin itself. (We much prefer the woodstove, which glows hypnotically when lit and provides a nice even heat throughout the cabin). Cell phone service is hard to come by. We have a signal booster, but it's not 100% reliable and we don't mind: we love the feeling of being cut off from the craziness of our daily lives. So far, all of our guests have loved it here. We had four couples get engaged, two other couples enjoyed their honeymoon at our cabin, and many others have just come up for fun and relaxation.
It's quiet around here, all right. You will see the occasional person coming to hike the Gold Dust trail (just down the road) or a neighbor going for a walk, but it's not unusual to have the day fully to yourself -- especially fall, winter, and spring, when it is magically peaceful.
  • Very cozy cabin in a fantastic spot in the mountains. The view from the front porch is simply fantastic (we went in the winter). Cozy fireplace inside keeps the spacious cabin very well heated. Bed is very comfortable, albeit small for two people. Given how close this place is from Denver and how fantastically isolated it is, it's a great choice! Ken was great with communication, the house manual is one of the most comprehensive I've ever seen. Check-in/out was a breeze. Highly recommend!

    Fernando2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing property. Truly a magnificent "off the grid" getaway. Ken is a fantastic host - very organized and responsive. I hope to return soon!

  • This place was perfect! My wife and I went during the winter. Even having tons of snow and weathering some of the storms, it was an amazing place. The fireplace was super warm and there was plenty of wood. It was nice to stay inside and play board games with my wife.

    Steven2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cabin in a beautiful location. Enjoyed all the snow and everything the cabin and area had to offer. Great place to disconnect from the rest of the world.

    Erin2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a wonderful mini honeymoon here, this cabin is an absolute off grid paradise! If you're looking to unplug and enjoy the beautiful mountains, this is the place! We made it to the cabin just before a snowstorm and loved watching the snow fall while curling up next to the lovely fire. We hope to return to the cabin one day in summer or fall when we can get outside a bit more. Completely worth it!

    Andi2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is perfect. Nice, cozy, romantic getaway in the mountains. The dogs loved running around in the snow too

    Joseph2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Ken’s place was absolutely perfect! It was the best place to spend a week relaxing and enjoying walks with our dogs. We were all alone as the other cabins didn’t have anyone in them so it was quiet the whole time which was exactly what we wanted. If you’re looking for an unplugged space where you can enjoy each other’s company and immerse yourself in nature then this cabin would be perfect for you!

    Sarah2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Ken's cabin is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! I would recommend everyone go and visit the views and hospitality are very worth it! We will for sure be coming back to visit in the future :)

  • Great location for a ski trip on a budget. 30min to Breck and 40min to Keystone and you get to avoid the I-70, bonus! Wonderful stay in this cute cabin. Great touch with the doggie items and amazing correspondence. Would definitely book again!

  • My time at the Fireside Inn was incredible. For the price, I can't imagine a better location, people, or offered amenities. I highly recommend the optional breakfast with pancakes and the fluffiest scrambled eggs I've ever had.

  • A wonderful hostel/inn with incredible access to the mountain and the town. Niki is a great host with many tips about the town.

  • What more could I ask for on a weekend in and out of Breckenridge for a wedding? Andy was my host throughout my time there. He and Niki worked hard to communicate directions on arrival late at night, as well as transportation, months before arrival. Their hospitality is delightful — it truly is English hospitality in the Rockies, and you’ll love the living space. For the price, the location cannot be best. It’s so close Main Street you’ll find yourself walking out on a whim. Andy was a great guide for a quick hike in the morning, pointing me up Baldy by the Sallie Barber mines. Thanks! Can’t wait to come back to Breck!

    Jonathan2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • There’s nothing negative I can say about these guys and my stay here. It’s absolutely amazing. Charming place with a homey feel. Andy and Nikki have made every effort to make me feel welcomed. Really cool memorabilia around the cozy and comfortable common area. Amenities like the hot tub and outdoor seating area put it over the top. I’ll definitely be coming back. Absolutely love it!!! Highly recommend

Roostahaus is a newly renovated, cozy cabin located on 2 acres of level wooded property directly adjacent to National Forest. Quiet and secluded, the cabin is a perfect mountain retreat to relax and unwind. Beautiful hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and hunting close by. Cabin includes access to 13 miles of private fly fishing along nearby Tarryall Creek and 3 fishing ponds. Jefferson is an easy drive from Denver, 70 miles along scenic 285. Breckenridge is about an hour away for a fun day trip.
Check-in is via lockbox. Pike National Forest hiking trails are only 100 yards from the front door! We provide plenty of guidebooks and maps at the cabin to help planning hiking, biking, or fishing outings. There is a great 20 minute hike to a small "shrine" with beautiful views of South Park, and the Mosquito range that we like to do at dusk or first thing in the morning. This trail continues to North Tarryall Mt., about a 3 hour round trip. You can even hike to the Colorado Trail from Roostahaus. Tarryall Reservoir is a quick 10 minute drive from the cabin and feel free to use our Old Town canoe, we supply life jackets and paddles, or just fish from the bank. Fairplay is only 30 minutes away with several 14ers to climb in the area, including Mt. Sherman, Democrat, and Quandary Peak. In the summer you can drive to Breckenridge over paved Hoosier Pass, or take the dirt road over historic Boreas Pass. If you are coming from outside Colorado, or outside the US, and you are looking for a great central location where you can spend a week and do all the great Colorado activities you are dreaming of, this is a great place for you. It is quiet, fairly secluded, comfortable, and well-appointed. Out the door you can hike, mountain bike, and fish. Within 30 minutes, you can climb 14ers, pan for gold in Fairplay, visit a historic mining town, ride horses, snowmobile, snowshoe, 4WD, go rockhounding, or hunt. In about 1 hour you can be in Breckenridge, with everything that a ski resort town offers. However, if you want peace and quiet, and get away from I-70 crowds, see the stars, and just relax, Roostahaus is for you. Could be a great place to write a book! Or brainstorm some new business ideas? Or spend some quality time with the kids, wandering in the woods. We can help you plan a week of adventure, a weekend of relaxation, or anything in between.
Pike National Forest is located directly across the street from the cabin with access to great trails and scenic views. If you stay at Roosthaus between Thanksgiving and Christmas, get a tree permit from the Forest Service Office in Fairplay to cut down your own tree right across the street from where you are staying. Tarryall Reservoir is a 10-minute drive from the Roostahaus. Tarryall Reservoir does not allow swimming but does allow boats that don't create a wake (canoe, rowboat, stand up paddleboard, etc). There is a waterfall on the southeast end of the reservoir. Guests have access to 13 miles of private land along Tarryall Creek that feeds into the reservoir, as well as three fishing ponds that are part of Lost Park Ranch.
  • Great place with amazing views. Well kept, and has more than you would ever need. It was the perfect getaway.

  • Wonderful place!! We had to drive about an hour to get to our scheduled activities throughout the few days we stayed here but the scenery was totally worth the drive. Sometimes staying in a ski town is more costly and this was definitely a more inexpensive option.

  • You know those places where you arrive and realize that the host has been clever about photo angles and the roomy private cabin in the woods with a view is actually a run down shack in the middle of town? Well, this is not that place!!! WOW, I have never stayed in a place with such a beautiful view. Everything about the house was even better than advertised. The house was sparkling clean, the kitchen well stocked, plenty of bedding, and a nice stack of wood for the wood stove. The small special touches like coffee and wine were really nice too! You really can't beat the view, and we thought the distance from fun places was just perfect. I can't wait to come back and visit again!

  • This place was wonderful. The views were breathtaking. The place is slightly outdated, but it got the job done. I would highly recommend booking this place, and I would love to come back again! P.S. The hummingbirds were fearless of people when outside on the porch, but it was very cool to have them around and be able to watch them.

Very rustic, little solar, well on site, propane heater in room and wood burning stove in other room/living room, no hot water, no shower (yet), unless you boil it. Guns are ok. This is for people that would like to enjoy off grid experience. Its very country setting please understand this. Sitting on 160 acres. Connected to The 17,429-acre State Wildlife. Elk migrate through the BLM which the property is connected to. Experience a sense of peace and calm when being in a true piece of heaven.
    very country experience
fairplay, Breckenridge is down the street. alot of hiking nooks. the cabin is also back up to the BLM which is connected to the forest,
  • My fiancee and I stayed here over Valentine's weekend, and had so much fun. The house is rustic and truly off the grid, but when we arrived it was warm and cozy, and we stayed comfortable all night with the gas fireplace and a wood stove. Jennifer was very responsive, and up front about some maintenance problems they were having. The animals really make the place; I grew up with horses and loved Mr Ed, who is very friendly. The mother yak is not friendly, but she is communicative and lets you know if you're getting too close. If you're going in winter I would definitely recommend 4 wheel drive to get down the driveway, and be prepared to possibly shovel some wind drifts to get out in the morning!

Be ready to see the best stars in the night and be awestruck by the sunrise. Say hello to the yaks while you're at it! This place feels like one giant pause button in the middle of a hurried world.

    Garrett2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel and Jenifer are great hosts. The house is definitely rustic and off the grid. The horse and the cat are very friendly and the night sky is full of stars!

    Rick2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This off-grid cabin was far more than I expected! It's truly secluded, with two yaks, an exceptionally friendly young horse named Mr. Ed, and an affectionate outdoor cat. The cabin is rustic, comfortable, and clean. We particularly enjoyed staying up late, cooking on the wood-burning stove by lantern light. The bed(queen?) was comfortable, as were the multiple couches. If you're looking to get out of town (like, waay out of town) this cabin makes for a dream-like retreat. If there were a shower, you could stay year-round.

    Joel2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Calling this place a piece of heaven is extremely accurate. The ranch is spectacular but the hosts truly made this experience perfect. This place is remote, we took a 4wd but it wouldn't be necessary if there isn't snow. This paradise is off the grid. It has everything you need and it's incredibly fun and relaxing. I would suggest bringing plenty of meat, butter, fun stuff to cook, you won't go hungry if you don't bring food. However cooking on a wood stove with the great cast iron cookware is pure awesome. I can't say enough good about this stay. Thank you so much Jen and Daniel!

  • Judy's place is gorgeous. It is the perfect getaway if you just want to spend a few days away from it all. The views are breath-taking. Judy is super thoughtful, the space was spotless, and it had everything we could need. If I ever need to get away from my busy life, Judy's place would be it again!

    Shirley2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Judy’s place was phenomenal. If you’re not in awe by the beautiful surroundings of the mountains and country side, it’s Judy’s personal touches and hospitality that makes your stay an experience you will not forget. I’d recommend this place over and over again.

    Danny2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • An incredible view in the mountains of Colorado. Room was perfectly clean, easy to find, and included thoughtful touches. We will definitely be staying again if we ever find ourselves in that area. Thanks so much Judy!

  • Judy & Paul are hands down the best host I’ve experienced with AirBnB. So helpful and so much hospitality! Communication is perfect from the moment you book the place. Highly recommend and will be returning.

    Alexander2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place!! Great location, perfect getaway

    Matt2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a super nice location to get out from everything. They are really nice hosts and the place was clean and really comfortable. That’s definitely the best Airbnb we have ever been! We will come back.

    Alea2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • I have to say, staying at Judy's was one of the best Air Bnb experiences I have ever had.. Check in was seamless, there were very pleasant and easy to read sticky notes throughout the room to guide us during our visit. Judy had food in the fridge, coffee, tea, souvenirs to take home, and a neat little kitchenette to cook and eat. The location was stunning, surrounded by open plains and snow capped mountains. It is most definitely off the beaten path (quite literally), so if you're looking to absolutely get away then this is the spot for you. There isn't a TON to do out there, but there is a great place for climbing to experience some incredible panoramic views. We were looking for a place to sit and soak in nature, this was exactly that. The stars at night are breath taking, and there is a little porch with chairs, a table and a swing. There were three of us that stayed the night and we all slept very comfortably. We unfortunately didn't get to meet Judy, but we came looking to be hermits and really appreciated the privacy that was given. If you're looking for a secluded, private spot.. this, again, is it! Can't recommend enough. Thank you for your generosity, Judy! We will be back and hope to meet you next time

    Josiah2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The High Plains Outpost may be the best airbnb experience we have had - the location is perfect with big mountain views and a cozy porch, and Judy goes all out with thoughtful amenities and touches. I cannot recommend the outpost enough!

If you have ever wanted the sheer joy of living on a wide-open prairie, surrounded by Colorado’s snow-capped peaks and the Continental Divide, my cabin at 9,500 feet is the place for you. The cabin is fully furnished, with a master bedroom, a loft bedroom, open space kitchen/family room/dining area. There are awesome trails for walking, biking, ATV’s, etc. And you're only forty minutes from ski slopes in Breckenridge! You will love this place!
You can be cozy and warm inside this authentic log cabin built in 1989, while watching the sun and the moon rise and set, herds of antelope and elk roaming in the fields around you. Your companion will be the wind, summer or winter, which crosses the Continental Divide from Breckenridge, only forty minutes away. Snowstorms bring dramatic changes to the landscape, but most days are sunny and bright and easily enjoyed on the elevated deck or partially glassed-in porch. Our dogs love basking on the upstairs deck or racing down to the ground level to bark at coyotes or rabbits.
The neighborhood is perfect for long walks and bike rides. If your bring your dog, it's important to keep him or her on leash when you're outside the fenced dog area. My lot is 3.5 acres and has delicious grass for wildlife. Pronghorn and elk hang out in our yard, and it is against the law for dogs to chase them. Keep your pet leashed. I've had a couple of close calls with my dogs, believe me.
  • This was the perfect place to relax for a few days! The cabin is so cute! Sallie is great at communicating and answering any questions. If you forget something, it's OKAY because they probably have it at the cabin. Very personal and homey feel. I am looking forward to my next trip there!

    Peighton2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This get away was exactly what my husband, our 2 dogs, and I needed! The place was more spacious than we expected and the kitchen was the perfect size for us to cook each meal. There is plenty of room for 5 people to sleep comfortably in the main house. We didn't check out the basement with the extra bedrooms. The view from the back porch and fenced in yard for the dogs was a nice touch and made the trip even more relaxing. Bring some sun glasses though, when the suns out and snows on the ground its bright but beautiful! Sallie was a great host, always in communication with us, and accommodated all of our needs. We will definitely recommend this place to others and will come back most definitely.

    Kayla2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a few amazing nights here, the artwork around the cabin is amazing as well as the concert posters. We had a lot of fun and a lot of snow. The drive in was a little slippery getting out of the association so make sure you have and AWD vehicle if you’re going during the snow time. absolutely stunning views and such peace and quiet. Absolutely planning on going back.

    Amanda2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Sallie's cabin was no where near what we expected. Sure, we had pictures and stuff but when we arrived, we still couldn't help but going "wow" at everything. You get all your basic amenities and there are a lil extra things left over at the cabin like seasonings and condiments. We were snowed in for 2 whole days. 1 day was unwilling, we had arrived during a winter storm that brought 24 inches for snow. The other snow in day was our choosing, the cabin is just super cozy. Make sure you are prepared and stocked before arriving at the cabin, especially during winter because it's a drive to any gas stations or convenient stores. Overall, we loved it and 10/10 will definitely loved to be snowed in again.

    Bianca2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is in a beautiful valley, nestled between mountains and has lots of land surrounding it. The house is well stocked for preparing meals, bath and bed. Best of all we were near trail heads for hiking including Colorado trail and the Ute trail near the rrsevoir. Interesting towns of Buena Vista, Alma and Breckenridge are nearby. Sallie was attentive to our needs and gave great directions.

    Michael2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is so adorable! The winter scenery is just breathtaking! Sallie is quick to communicate and is a wonderful host! We look forward to coming back!

    April2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a cool place. We spent 4 days writing and recording music here, and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Sallie was super helpful and fast to communicate throughout. 10/10

  • This place is truly special. Very nice accomodations at a very reasonable price and super close to Breckenridge ski resort! It was a breeze to check in, and the pool table was a really nice touch. I fully expect I will be booking with them again in the future!

    Tyler2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cute place was perfect for my significant other and I. I think for groups more than two people however, it might be a bit crowded. The fireplace was a great touch! It is for both the living room and the bedroom. This unit is located on the lower level of the other unit (upstairs), which means it can be pretty noisy at times, especially if people above are walking about in their ski boots. We used the free shuttle to get around, which is located conveniently up the road. It only runs every 30 minutes however, there are plenty of Uber’s in the area that will get there in less than five minutes. Checking in was a little confusing for us - we didn’t know we needed to enter through the garage and the door to the house to the upstairs unit was unlocked upon arrival. Check in and check our guides are provided, which is a lengthy read so important details may be lost. I’d recommend thoroughly reading their guides to prevent any confusion (which I wish I did beforehand!) As other people may have mentioned, the heat is controlled through the management company so there’s no way to lower or raise the heat without contacting them. The temperature was suitable for us, so we didn’t need to reach out. Overall, my SO and I really enjoyed this place!

  • Thank Stu for being available and communicating and suggesting . love the hospitality provided , he has a lot of things thought off that i have never experience in other air bnb, his prep for weather condition and my stay was perfect. got stuck in the driveway but stu had the solution for it ,was out in 15 mins. the only downside was that we had to detour for 5 hours approaching stu location from denver and it was due to the weather, the road were close. so it would be better to check if the roads are open because it is so remotely deep in the mountains , the roads need to be clear for safe driving conditions.

  • A fantasic place to get away in the mountains! Stu is an incredible host! I would recommend doing research if booking in the winter as it is off from the highways a bit, so things can get dicey if you dont have the proper vehicle.

  • Stu is a very fast responder via airbnb msg, text etc... I do believe he does care about your stay. Expect a very quiet visit in a quiet locality (which is what we wanted). Make sure you bring in your supplies/food/etc... fm somewhere else, since the nearest grocery store is 40min away in Fairplay. There was some basic spices, food items in the place, so don't fret if you forgot the salt. Overall a pleasant stay with nice views.

My place is remote but in a small spread out group of land owners, mostly part time residents with homes in Denver/CO Springs. Fairplay is the closest large town at 17 miles away or so. There's a huge amount of nature based activities in the area. A quick internet search of the South Park Valley will show you the incredible gorgeousness of the area. Breckenridge is the closest resort for skiing and at just 39 miles via the back highway it means no dealing with multi-lane highways or 3 hour delays. Leave the cabin at a reasonable 7:30 and get to the first tracks/opening ski lifts at 8:30! Go to a reservoir, horseback riding, hot air ballooning, white water rafting, gold panning, whatever your heart desires.
  • This property was amazing! Definitely off the beaten path, but within easy reach of every amazing experience the mountains have to offer. I found myself excited to return each day to this cozy and hospitable cabin. Stu was the best host I’ve ever interacted with. He provided an amazing level of communication and he had curated one of the best rental properties I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Do yourself a favor and book this excellently priced property for your next get-away!

  • I honestly can’t think of one issue we had staying at Stu’s cabin. If you’re looking for the full nature cabin experience without sacrificing cleanliness and a hot shower then this place is for you. The cabin was spacious, extremely clean, had tons of amenities (cookware, sports equipment, firepit ), great WiFi, hot showers... etc. Each room had a personal heater which was great for a large group, we were able to heat our rooms to our liking. Stu had an easy check in and out as well as tons of advice on things to do. The drive to town is a bit far but if you plan accordingly it is completely doable. A little over an hour from Breckenridge, a little less to get to Alma and Fairplay. I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Stu's Vultures Nest was an absolutely amazing experience! We took a trip with a group of friends to disconnect from our lives for a bit and this was a great choice. Very clean and stylish cabin is sure to appeal to all guests.

  • Stu was a great host!! Hospitable in every sense of the word! He was very responsive and communicated with my group through everything including giving recommendations on where to pick up groceries and places to have a good breakfast! There were times throughout our stay that we kept finding more and more perks with Stu’s cabin. Multiple things to do at the cabin, including musical instruments, videos games, television hooks up (Hulu/Netflix/amazon prime access) and provided some food and drink options for us! We also saw a group of 13 deer the first night we stayed and on top of that the cabin had an amazing view of the mountains and it was absolutely beautiful! Wonderful stay! :) #StayWithStu
