Safe, scenic, quiet and laid back.
  • Communication was great! The place was clean and had everything we needed plus some! Actually met the owner by chance and he was very helpful with some tips and we had a nice conversation. Loved the view high above the river! Would certainly recommend!

  • A very sweet cabin in the coziest spot by a river! Perfect for winter getaway

  • We had a great time staying at Pat and Paul’s cabin. It was very quiet and cozy, even in the middle of a snowstorm. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed and we loved the welcome muffins and note. We definitely want to come back and experience this place in the summer.

    Erica2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy stay ❤️

    Jessica2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • You would think after 5 stays at this cabin, I would be running out of things to say but...there's ALWAYS going to be something nice to say about Pat, Paul, and their cabin in the woods!!! If you are looking for a place to feel like you are at a home-away-from-home, you have found it here! Do yourself a favor, stop looking, and click "reserve!!" The warmth in the cabin during the winter months is not just from the heat, fireplace, blankets, etc..it is from the hearts of Pat and Paul and everything they have done to make the cabin PERFECT!!

    Cindy2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Pat and Paul's cabin is a great place to get away and relax! The fire place is cozy for the winter and the screened in porch a great place in the summer!

    Shari2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived on New Years day to plenty of fresh fallen snow. Paul was ready for us with the key and showed us around. The cabin is wonderful. You can expect neatly made beds, plenty of pots and pans, plenty of nice fluffy towels, a lot of coffee varieties fresh water bottles. We had freshly made muffins and holiday baked goods waiting for us on the kitchen table. It was a joy to relax in the comfort of the cozy living room. The gas wood burning stove put out plenty of heat and looked lovely. The couch is a pull out, which my daughter loved because she was able to watch Netflix all night long. The Wifi was great. Beautiful forests everywhere. The screened in porch looks over a steep drop to the river... a beautiful place to enjoy coffee (I even did this while wearing a sweater surrounded by snow!). Paul took the time to tell us all about local restaurants and things to do. Traverse City is less than a half hour drive away. We easily drove there and back on two of the days we were there. There is a small grocery store in town. They supplied us with everything we needed with no issues. We were sad to leave. Hope to go back over the summer if it is not occupied. Thank you Pat and Paul!!! Great start to 2020.

This is a studio cabin in a very secluded setting. The cabin is adjacent to our primary residence. It is located approximately 3.5 miles from Cadillac, MI. This area has year round outdoor activities such as golfing, hiking, fishing, hunting, skiing (downhill and cross-country) and snowmobiling.
The cabin can comfortably fit 2-3 people. It is a studio type setting with a (separate) bathroom, kitchenette, near full-size refrigerator and stove. We do not have good internet so we are unable to offer WiFi. There is a TV and a DVD player in the cabin. There is plenty of room to bring a snowmobile trailer onto the property and launch snowmobiles from the property. You will be less than a 1/4 mile from snowmobile trail #35.
The property is in a very quiet, wooded area with a feel of being in the middle of nowhere. In reality, we are only about 6 miles from “Cadillac West” where you’ll find a bowling alley / bar, a more up-scale restaurant (Lakeside Charlie’s), McDonalds, coffee shops and gas stations. The property is a couple miles from about 1,000 acres of Federal land and about a mile from a snowmobile trailhead.
  • The place is so wonderful we stayed again to get in another weekend of skiing and snowshoeing. I would recommend to anyone looking for a more private stay in the Cadillac area.

    Molly2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the cabin for a quick ski trip at caberfae peaks and loved it. It’s exactly as pictured. The cabin is cozy and the hosts are very thoughtful. I would recommend.

  • Kathleen’s place was great !! Quick responses, super clean cozy place with everything you need. Super secluded feel, but close to ski hill & trails ! We had an amazing time !

  • Great space for a weekend getaway! Super clean and comfy and had everything we needed. It feels secluded yet is close to town and nearby activities. Would definitely recommend!

    Kate2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful experience. We prefer a more secluded location when visiting the area and this cabin provides that and much more. It was an easy drive to Caberfae and other Cadillac attractions. There was plenty of space and all the amenities we needed were included. We especially liked the hooks for our gear and other belongings. There was local area information on the table and a trail map on the wall. The hosts were also very quick to respond to any questions. We look forward to more trips up to Tustin!

    Molly2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

Welcome to Harper Lake Resort! The Wren is a one of our two serene two-bedroom cottages overlooking beautiful Harper Lake. Through the sliding door facing Harper Lake you will find a patio with chairs, a table and a charcoal grill. The perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon tea and dinner! Perhaps you will see a bald eagle, or hear the call of a loon. You will definitely see and hear from an array of birds.
From the cottage deck it is just a walk down the stairs to access Harper Lake, a 78-acre spring fed ‘all sports’ lake where blue gill, largemouth bass, pike and other fresh water fish gather. We invite you to take pleasure in sitting on the dock or take to the water using our complimentary paddle boats, rowboats, kayaks, canoes and more. Also featured lakeside is a chiminea and lounge chairs just waiting for you to relax while whiling away the lazy days. If you choose to bring your own personal watercraft, there is a public launch site is just a few steps away.
Within a few miles there are several restaurants serving local style food and a few taverns. Jackie’s Place is a favorite haunt for the locals and often there is karaoke on Friday night. The Dublin General Store, famous for its jerky and specialty meats and most anything else one might need, is a not to be missed destination. The Manistee National Forest and a multitude of rivers await your discovery! It is a short drive to the city of Manistee for walk on the beach of Lake Michigan, fun shopping, restaurants, breweries and nightlife.
  • Vera Ellen is a radiant hostess. She left the light on for us when we pulled in late. She stocked the house with the most thoughtful amenities. The cabin is clean, quiet, and cozy. We cooked amazing meals, took luxurious hot showers, slept well in a comfy bed, paddled around the lake, grilled out, made a fire under the stars, fished in the lake and caught huge salmon at Tippy Dam an easy 30 minute drive away. If you have the chance to rent The Wren you will not be disappointed! The amenities, hospitality, and location you get for the price can’t be beat. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

    Jess2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Vera and Terry were exceptional hosts! We stayed in the Wren and it was a beautiful little cabin. It had everything we needed and Vera even brought some toys in for our 2 1/2 year old daughter that were waiting for us upon arrival. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the island is so much fun to explore. We took the paddle boats out several times and had loads of fun. We will definitely be booking another stay at Harper Lake!!

    Tera2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • All you need to take is your clothes & food. Everything else is provided. The cabins are beautiful and completely stocked. Vera Ellen has a special way of decorating and knows all the little special touches to make the cabins feel like home. Vera Ellen and Terry have a special gift of making people welcome at the cabins. You will enjoy your stay guaranteed!

  • Harper Lake is a beautiful spring-fed lake, just the right size. The cottages were so beautifully decorated, with many thoughtful touches to make our visit very memorable.

    Paula2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Wren was small, but it was clean and had everything we needed in it. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked, and the location was nice. The lake was nice and there was a general store nearby for everything that we forgot. The hosts told us about different options for fun on or near Harper Lake and they were very friendly.

    Lydia2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Exceptionally great place to stay with amazing hosts. Can't say enough about the hospitality. The kids really enjoyed the paddle boats and kayaks. I would love to go back sometime.

    Larry2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our family LOVED our stay at Vera Ellen's! The Wren sits next to another cottage and shares the waterfront with the other guests. We shared the boats which included 4 kayaks, a couple canoes, flat boats and 2 paddle boats. Our children loved using the paddle boats and enjoyed exploring the island on the lake. Vera Ellen and Terry were very welcoming and Terry helped us get a fire started the first night. We had a great time!

  • Better than expected, and exactly what we were looking for. Took our two dogs, and got a ton of snow the night we arrived. Spent two days exploring the trails, had a fire outside. Hardly anyone around except for a few passing snowmobilers down the road. Also the bed is extremely comfortable and feels like a cloud. Perfect place to get away. .

  • The description matches perfectly. It’s a little cabin in the middle of the woods and very secluded. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in nature!

  • Expect a clean, quiet cabin that is secluded on private land adjacent to federal land. Wonderful peaceful cabin!

    Adam2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Tara's spot was wonderful. The ratings speak for themselves, but I wanted to share that I was unable to make my whole stay due to family adjustments. I informed Tara as my arrival plans shifted to the right by one day so I lost one night. And without delay or request she offered that if I wanted I could have stayed another night. I would have loved to but I was unable, though the offer itself stands as a thoughtful testament.

    Derrick2019-12-08T00:00:00Z

Welcome to our cabin! You'll enjoy the entire 4 bd, 1800 sq. ft. cabin. Located just north of Baldwin and 5 minutes from Irons, we are within minutes of many beautiful lakes and rivers for fishing and water sports. There are many trails nearby for snowmobiling and ORV fun; we are 1/2 mile from the Astor Rd trailhead. We ask that no motorized vehicles be driven on our property, except for the driveway and shoulder of road. 15 mins to Caberfae, for downhill and cross country skiing.
The cabin sits on 10 acres just east of Irons, MI. It's the perfect place to relax and a great home base for outdoor adventures. We love our dogs and know how hard it can be to leave them behind. They are welcome as long as you clean up after them and make sure nothing is destroyed. Limit two dogs per visit please..
Irons is a very small town, but even so there is a decent breakfast place, The Irons Café, a nice convenience store with a good selection of alcohol at the gas station next door, and bar, Oak Grove Tavern. Most of the time you can watch college sporting events here and get some decent smoked meats. Dublin General Store which has an amazing number of items including jerky, brats, bacon and other meats for grilling.
  • This is our second year at Pam’s cabin for our annual school district’s ski trip. This place is perfect for the 7-8 people, mostly teens, who stayed due to 4 good sized bedrooms and the oversized kitchen. The large, comfortable family room with Direct TV and extra seating was also a plus. There is no shortage of blankets, linens and towels and other supplies. Pam is responsive and an excellent host. We will be back again next year or sooner!

    Julie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Roomy and accommodating cabin to stay on great property that was fun to explore! Upon arrival, we were greeted with homemade cookies and muffins, which was a thoughtful touch. The heat was set appropriately and instructions on how to use everything was precise. We did not want for anything while there as this is one of the most stocked homes we have ever rented. Very generous! Bedrooms are roomy and beds are comfortable. Definitely a home away from home! Will be back!

    Judy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying in this cabin, and it was as good the second time as it was the first. If we're back in this neck of the woods again, we would definitely stay here again.

  • I think a few others said it, and they were absolutely right, this place feels so much like home. You instantly feel content walking inside like you've visited before, I couldn't stop saying "I love this place!". Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. A delightful country cottage. remodeled to provide our guests a relaxed carefree experience. This cottage was built shortly after WWII, and used exclusively as a vacation rental until the early 60's. During the recent renovation, great care was taken to maintain it's unique charm and character while providing modern amenities. Close to all the summertime activities . And centrally located in the Manistee National Forest between Cadillac and Manistee.

Whether you are looking for an adventure, family or romantic getaway - this house has everything you need. Come enjoy the peaceful serenity of the forest and Seaton Creek. Close to hiking trails, ski resorts and the lakeshore. Sit in the gazebo and read or rest while listening to the babbling creek next to you. Minimalistic tranquil space designed to help people reconnect with themselves, nature and loved ones. This is a very cozy home with two large bedrooms, full kitchen as well as living and dining space. This home is right on Seaton Creek. Also a great place to snowshoe and cross country ski in the winter! ***The house is thoroughly cleaned after every visit by a wonderful lady from the area. We separate each stay by 2 to 3 days to allow for the house to be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for next guests. Other details: -The wood stove provides ample and cozy heat, but if that's not your thing, we also have auxiliary heating that will keep you toasty -Private deck and gazebo with beautiful view of Seaton Creek -Modern Amenities: electric stove top, fridge, running water, hot shower, indoor toilet, dish washer, washer/dryer -Includes all bedding and towels - bring beach towels if you desire -Hiking/ Biking: access to several trails in the area with nearby access to both the Manistee River Trail and the North Country Trail -Firepit: creek side fire pit with firewood -Charcoal grill available for your use -TV is available in bedroom closet on a roll cart. You are tucked away in the Manistee National Forest yet close enough to M37 for easy routes to hiking trails, ski lodges, Traverse City, Cadillac and the lakeshore. You will not feel completely isolated as their are a few homes in the area.
  • Simply amazing. What a wonderful, calm, holiday getaway! We loved the solitude of the woods, the beauty of the creek, and the comfort of the wood burning stove (wood was available when we were there - weren’t sure before we went so we almost bought some at Meijer but there was no need). We rented an AWD car for the trip because we weren’t sure how our Prius would handle the roads. We now realize it would probably have been totally adequate, BUT we were glad to have it in this case as it snowed 6 inches on our first night. After that, travel to Cadillac (over some gravel roads) would have been much slower and more difficult without the rental. So keep that in mind if you visit during the winter!

  • The perfect little woodland retreat!Jennifer's place is clean, cozy and just what you'd expect from the pictures. It was nice to walk outside to the noise of the creak running through her back yard. My wife and I enjoyed being unplugging for a bit and warming up next to the wood burning stove after a long day of skiing. Super peaceful.

  • Super clean and cozy. The fireplace is the bomb!! I was super pleased with the accommodations. I would definitely recommend this place. Great area and quite peaceful.

  • Wonderful get away! Such a nice place.

    Jamie2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This property is stunning. The woods and creek behind the house are absolutely amazing. It’s a quiet, well-maintained home. The house itself was beautifully furnished with extra touches that didn’t go unnoticed. I loved it here and hated to leave. Thank you for such a lovely experience.

    Dawn2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a serene getaway, look no further! It’s a great place to de-stress and to get off the grid.

    Bobby2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had been looking for an excuse to check out the Manistee River Trail, and Jen’s place was conveniently located close enough to the trail head, and far enough away for us to unplug and unwind after a day of hiking. We were a bit surprised to see all of the trails that connected just behind the house as well, and spent our first night checking out the property and relaxing in the screened in porch. This was a perfect getaway for an unplugged weekend full of exploring, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here!

  • Beautiful place and great house, the only thing is no WiFi

    Jinxin2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful house, lots of special touches. We really enjoyed the solitude. The only negative was that we visited during hunting season, so were not super comfortable about going out on the national forest trail with our dogs. Otherwise, we had a great time and would re-visit without hesitation.

    Peter2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda was a great host , everything you need is here, it was peaceful and quiet but not not far from attractions if need be We had family Christmas there and hopefully will be doing it again next year.

    Carmen2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed for two nights and were so sad when we had to leave. It’s cozy, inviting and the location is amazing. We hiked for three hours, enjoyed the spring water, and building a fire. Amanda communicated with us well and the place was so clean. I loved little touches throughout the home such as the compost bucket, the firewood in the garage, and my favorite: the yoga room. This is the place to getaway from it all, to connect with nature, make a meal, and relax in the living room. It’s a gem.

    Nika2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda’s place is absolutely wonderful. We were looking for an escape from the city and a quiet place to enjoy the colors of fall- this is definitely the place for that! The stream in the back was so enjoyable and the local hiking was fantastic. The house was very clean and has an amazing fireplace making it very cozy. There were two of us and there was plenty room for several more. Amanda was responsive and warm. And Our dog loved it just as much as we did! We would love to come back!

    Katie2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway for our honeymoon. A beautiful retreat to recharge and refocus. The fireplace was warm and cozy and we had everything we needed! Love it!

    Kevin2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Place was as described, peaceful, and relaxing. No internet or cell service - had to drive about 5-10 minutes closer to a town to plan our days activities (but this was clear in description). Made breakfast in the full kitchen and had all necessary tools. Being in the woods, it was surprising that there weren’t more bugs in the house.

    Kevin2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I recently had a wonderful stay at Amanda's Airbnb. We wanted to get away from the daily traffic and the noise of everyday life, so we chose her lovely home. What I loved the most was being so close to the river and being able to reconnect with nature. I was able to take some lovely photos of the natural settings surrounding the property. This is truly a place to sit back and relax, but you are also a short drive to towns such as Cadillac city, Frankfort and Beulah, MI for shopping for dining out. I know you'll enjoy your stay.

  • Cute comfortable and cozy! Brenda even let us check in early to enjoy the area longer! Definitely will be back during the summer months :)

    Bee2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • From the great communication with the host Brenda to the perfect location of the A-Frame, our trip was just great. The cabin is located right off the lake near multiple hiking trails and eating locations. The downtown area is a quick drive and any last minute needs can be found at the gas station a short walk away. Would highly recommend this place for any couple trying to slow down and getaway.

    Thomas2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect quaint Chalet! Very clean and a stones throw from Lake Emmit(maybe a hundred feet away and you can see it beautifully. Did fall color sightseeing, pumpkin patch, and local eateries, but chalet comes with all the amenities. Dishes, stove, refrigerator, dryer, coffee pot, utensils, towels, soap etc. Only thing I would like to see different is maybe a 3 panel privacy fence to block off backyard on the side that faces the road where gas station is. Just to have more privacy for sitting around firepit it in back. Otherwise perfect place!

    Michele2019-10-26T00:00:00Z

    Jamie2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Tara’s cabin was an excellent weekend stay for us. It did truly exceed expectations! I think we were expecting a Michigan shack, and we were delighted to find a super clean, warm, cozy (not drafty!) cabin; with plenty of dishes for cooking, super comfy beds, a great living room/couch layout with the fireplace and tv; and a great set of games and books for off-the-grid entertainment. It seemed updated, with new floors, and non-squeaky doors. Definitely better than anticipated - we would return without hesitation.

    Sarah2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin is exactly as the posting states . The only thing I would have liked was a bit more seclusion or privacy from the other campers, but I didn't realize this was a campground when booking. No problem, however, because it was a super quiet evening and we weren't disturbed by anyone else. Stars were amazing under the dark skies! Such a cute little camper cabin for a small family or couple. We stayed because of how close it was to the Pine River and kayaking. Would definitely stay again because Carrie is a great host and her hubby is as well!

  • Great location and very cozy! Definitely planning on coming back!

  • We loved our stay at the Blue Gill! Perfect place to spend time with family. Movie selection was fun and paddling the canoe around the channel was awesome. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you are in the area.

  • This place was just what we needed to come to town for my great aunts 90th birthday! Dewayne is clearly experienced and has everything in place for anybody to be able to understand and his instructions are super simple and clear. It was such a nice place and I was able to watch a few VHS tapes and reminisce.

    Tasha2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Dewayne's place as a get away for my mother's birthday. She really loved how quaint and peaceful it was. The best part was the proximity to the canal that leads to the lake for a great day kayaking. The bottle of wine was a welcoming suprise. Thank you for a great stay.

    Derrick2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Dewayne's house was definetly quiet and relaxing as promised. The location was also good, only about 10 minutes from downtown Cadillac. The VHS collection was a wonderful treat, and it was lovely to take a trip down memory lane. It was also nice to have a washer and dryer on the premises. My only problem was the cleanliness. The bath tub had some hair in it and the kitchen had dirt on the floor, as well as under the furniture. However, since guests are responsible to clean up at the end of their stay, it's not Dewaynes fault. All in all it was a great stay, and I would recommend it for a low-key trip with friends or family.

    Devon2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very responsive host and great location!

    Dawn2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cabin with many things to do! Paddle boat, canoe, grills, and a while wall of vhs tapes which were super nostalgic. Town isn't far away and local ice cream was amazing! Great and relaxing weekend

  • The house was on a great location with a lake view. About 20min to Ski resort. Kitchen was stacked with utensils and cooking pots/pans which we used for cooking. There are lots of board games, many movies and the ping pong table was a hit for our group trip.

    Vessela2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great house with easy acess to the lake for fishing with our snowmobiles. Rooms were clean and kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed. Close to restaurants and the bait shop. Violet was great to work with. Would stay again without hesitation.

Ski Chalet just minutes from Caberfae ski slopes /golf. Snowmobile trails just down the road. Located between Cadillac and Manistee Michigan in the heart of the Manistee National Forest. Great fishing at Tippy Dam year round or Lake Cadillac. Canoe down the Pine River in the summer. Great fall colors. Nice home, fully furnished with nice living room overlooking the forest. Watch the birds come to the feeder or wait for the deer just before dark. Enjoy the many board games or watch a movie
Quiet location backing onto forest. Cross country ski trails close by. Golf course right around the corner for summer golf. Great restaurants and shopping in the towns of Cadillac and Manistee
  • Our trip went very smooth.

    John2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The location is perfect for skiers or snowmobilers during the winter as it is less than a 5 minute drive to Caberfae Peaks. The house was clean and the property description was accurate. The host responded quickly to a problem that occurred during check-in. We enjoyed our stay.

    John2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Overall a great place to stay for a weekend of snowboarding! Great location and the house was very nice and clean. It would have been ideal to have WiFi at the house as the cell service (for my cell carrier) was nonexistent at the house, but I don’t want to take away from the house for that reason. I would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area and would stay again in a heartbeat!

    Nate2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot! Super convenient for skiing.

    John2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Rented for group snowmobile trip and the house worked out perfectly. Walkout basement was a great plus as we could come right in from ride and leave gear downstairs. House was very close to trails. Great to have 2 full baths with large group. Host was quick to respond to any questions and offered up local site/restaurants. Just know that cell reception is iffy but more due to house being in valley. So this allowed everyone to unplug for a change, so was not an issue for our group.

***Summer reservations are limited to 5-day minimum reservations , but message us if you see <5-day mid-week openings that interest you.*** Open and spacious, family-friendly house on the south side of Lake Mitchell has private frontage and a shallow, sandy bottom, perfect for all ages. Fenced yard, fire pit, and beach area are Lakeside, and a huge "back" yard is perfect for lawn games. Snowmobile trails, skiing, and public land are all nearby. A 4k TV with cable and Netflix is provided.
Lake Fun: Lake Mitchell and Cadillac provide year-round fun. Some of the best ice-fishing is right outside our house. We are about 10 - 15 minutes from Caberfae and just a few minutes from snow-mobile trails. Fall provides a beautiful view with evergreens providing a backdrop for beautiful, colorful fall foliage framing the lake. Both Fall and Spring allow for great fishing with cooler water temps. And of course, summers can't be beat. The shore is shallow, with a solid sandy bottom, allowing even small children to enjoy the lake. There is a beach area, and we provide plenty of sand toys. Paddle boards, lake toys / floats / mats are also included. There is a hammock for afternoon naps. And the fire pit is perfect for s'mores at sunset. Outside: Idlewind is the perfect family retreat. There are trees on both side for privacy, and 50 feet of sandy-bottom frontage. There are toys and games, such as corn hole, Kan Jam, and sand toys. There is a fire pit with seating. You can use the firewood stocked on the side of the house or, in the rare event I run out, more is available for sale nearby. We offer both a charcoal grill and a new wood pellet grill. In the "back yard", there is a large grassy area perfect for lawn games. You will find that there is plenty of space for your friends and family to park, play, relax, eat, and sleep. Inside: On the first floor, there are two dining areas and three separate living areas. One bedroom / living area and the main dining area overlook the lake. There is a 4K TV with cable and Netflix. Amazon Alexa is available throughout the first floor to control the lights or play music. There are instructions for everything in a welcome binder. The kitchen was updated in September 2018 and is fully stocked. It has a nice cook top and double oven. (For outdoor cooking, we use a charcoal grill - it just tastes better than gas!) You can easily make Thanksgiving dinner for a large family! There are also two portable griddles perfect for pancakes and bacon. We include coffee, creamer, sugar, a variety of tea, and hot cocoa. The refrigerator has a ton of condiments, salad dressings, jam, and maple syrup. The spice cabinet has salt, pepper, rubs, and other seasonings. Just bring your perishables! You are welcome to any other staples in the cabinets (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, oatmeal, pancake mix), but we can't guarantee there will be anything there! There are plenty of swimming and bathing towels (brand new in Sept. 2018), as well as a laundry room. The downstairs bathroom is large, and includes a tub. The upstairs has an additional door at the top of the stairs - perfect for those that want to go to bed early or sleep in while others are having fun downstairs! There is a small bathroom with a stand-up shower at the end of the hall. There are four bedrooms upstairs. The mermaid room is small, and perfect for a little girl, but we have also put our grown adult friends in there. It has a beautiful lake view! Across from the mermaid room is a good-sized room with a queen bed. This room also has extra linens in the cabinet. In one closet are a box fan, extra pillows and sheets. In the other are two twin memory foam mattresses. The twin mattresses can fit in any of the other bedrooms except the mermaid room. The master bedroom has a beautiful view of the lake, and is spacious. The last bedroom upstairs has two twin beds. All bedrooms except the mermaid room have ceiling fans. Seasonal Note: The dock and boat lifts are typically removed mid-September and put in the water mid-May. With advance notice it may be possible to install or remove these sooner or later. Boat lifts are stored in the "back yard" towards the road and the dock is stacked in a corner of the fenced lake yard. We are mindful to keep these items out of the way of our guests and their view! Allergy note: Although we have our home professionally cleaned for guests, our pets do accompany us to the cottage, especially during the summer. If you have a pet allergy, please come prepared. For more information on Idlewind and the Cadillac area, check out our website and blog: www.idlewindcadillac.com.
The south side is the place to be! We have both the sunrise and the sunset, and you can occasionally see the Northern Lights! A shallow boat launch is conveniently located next door and is great for getting your snowmobile or shanty on the water, but not so great for boats (go to the "real" boat launch a mile or so away for anything bigger than a jet ski or small fishing boat, or a pontoon with a crank down trailer). There is a business across the street that, while technically a gas and convenience store, would be more aptly termed a liquor and homemade ice-cream shop! Cadillac offers four seasons of fun! We are conveniently located about 10-15 minutes from Caberfae ski area and the Manistee National Forest. There are snow mobile trails everywhere. We are minutes from the White Pine Trail, which is great for running, biking, and snow mobiling! A fun playground and nature preserve are five minutes away. Downtown Cadillac is less than 10 minutes away by car and has fun festivals and entertainment almost every weekend in summer. You can also boat there and tie up at the public dock! Lake Mitchell connects to Lake Cadillac through a fun little canal, offering about 4,000 acres of lake altogether. There is a boat-up restaurant that is fun for kids.
  • We really enjoyed our stay. We're also automation fans so having Alexa on hand was a nice touch. We liked all the varied spaces to hang out in, and thought it was a delightfully unique home. We might come back in the summer or for ice fishing next year!

    Paul2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • House has a old world charm with touches of the modern life. A lot of nice touches for travelers. All the stuff you need to enjoy the trip without the hassle of finding a store to buy life’s necessities.

  • Amazing place, Very Clean, View of Lake is Great, Pellet grill for cooking is Awesome.

  • We loved staying here. It was very spacious and clean. We had 4 couples in our group, and there was plenty of space and enough bedrooms for everyone. And this home is only about 10 to 15 minutes away from the Caberfae ski resort, which was so convenient!

  • This was a great place to stay for our three generation ski trip. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and still spend time together. The large kitchen is fully stocked with all the supplies you need to prepare meals. Stephanie is generous in providing multiple kinds of coffee and tea and other kitchen basics. The beds are clean and comfortable. We only stayed for the weekend and the grandkids are already begging to come back. I highly recommend this house for your stay.

  • Beautiful and very clean. Perfect for large groups. Lots to do right at the cabin including volleyball, swinging, and lots of other indoor and outdoor games provided. Nice fire pit and beautiful scenery to enjoy! The breakfast foods they provide for your first morning was a great bonus! We loved that we could bike from our cabin to the bike trail. Tustin’s town has a great ice cream store and restaurant too.

    Sue2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • This lodge is exactly as it looks in the pictures. Very quiet but easy access to the main road. We used it for a group golf outing for 10 people and it worked out great as it is 15 minute drive or less to several golf courses and local bars/restaurants in the immediate area as well as Cadillac. The host Dennis communicated very quickly in advance and while we were there. We did not have any problems and Dennis stopped by briefly after we arrived to ensure everything was OK. Beautiful views off the back of the lodge and the two decks overlooking the woods. We all felt it was an excellent value for the price paid and we would recommend it to others. There isn't a whole lot in Tustin but we did find a nice restaurant just down the road (Mineral Springs) that had great burgers and pizza. Tustin has a small grocery and dollar store so no problem picking up a few items if needed.

    Ronald2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • The log cabin is a beautiful place to stay! It’s comfortable and spacious, built of beautiful wood with thoughtful interior decorations throughout. The setting is quiet and peaceful in the woods. • You will not he let down by this piece of paradise. Everything inside and outside are incredible. It’s a must do!!

    Connie2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was so cute and the sunset were lovely over the lake. We took out the kayaks, peddle boats and canoes. The lake is not great for swimming in because of the murky bottom but we floated a little and that was great. Take bug spray, depending on the time of year. The hosts set up a fire for us one night with candles and more that was beautiful. Everything was clean and the check in process was very easy. I would stay again for sure.

    Megan2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Vera’s resort is perfect if you want peace and quiet with a lake view. We could see the sunsets right outside of the cottage, and everything was clean and well-organized. We had everything we needed, guides for restaurants and great parking. I loved being out on the lake every day, kayaking and paddle-boating! Overall, it was amazing! No complaints! Can’t wait to go back!

  • We had a amazing time. Vera and Terry were charming and helpful with giving us advice for area dining and local attractions. The cabin was spotless and very welcoming. The beds were so comfortable. There was watercraft that they welcomed us to use. Also a pavilion that we could have a bonfire in if we decided to. The area was beautiful and very peaceful. My family would recommend this cabin highly and we plan to keep this place on our radar for future trips. 💚

    Michelle2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time The cottage was everything described and more. Relaxing and far away from hustle and bustle which I like! Enjoyed talking with Vera Ellen and Terry! Thanks for everything.

  • This was our second summer staying at the cottages and it’s a wonderful place for a family vacation! We will be back again!

  • We had a wonderful time during our stay! The cottage was exactly as described, no surprises or disappointments. We enjoyed meeting new people in the cottage next to us as well as Vera and Terry. Not only did our kids love the water, they enjoyed making new friends with the other vacationers and Vera’s own grandchildren. We loved all gathering under the pavilion nightly for s’mores/ice cream and getting to know each other while the children ran around playing tag. I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a calm, peaceful and relaxing trip with unbeatable sun rises/ sets and a crystal clear, warm lake. We will definitely be back if our travel plans take us to this area again.

Our cabin is secluded and quite. We sit on an oversized lot, providing extra privacy and outdoor space. There are some nearby homes, but they are not directly in view from the yard and neighbors are quite.
  • Great place to get away, great location.

  • This home is exactly as the photos show. Gorgeously cozy, well stock and a place that provides relaxation, and easy access to outdoor adventures of all kinds.

    Amber2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, all you need to bring is some clothes and snacks and this place has everything else, even if you have a kiddo! Keeps warm in winter!

    Evan2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • The Aqua Dock is amazing! Michigan is having a mild winter currently, so unfortunately we had no snow and couldn’t do any of the activities we were hoping to do during our trip. The cottage was so comfy, that it really didn’t end up mattering much to us! It’s very secluded which is awesome, but just be aware that the nearest bigger town is about a 30 minute drive away. We came in the winter, but I can’t even imagine how fun this place would be in the summer time with its location right on the lake!! It was sparkling clean, Cassie was so easy to communicate with, and the kitchen was stocked with cooking supplies! We are hoping to be able to visit again sometime in the summer! Thanks for such an awesome stay!

  • Had a wonderful stay! The place is very cozy, clean and well stocked. Communication and check in/out process is seamless. One of the best airb&b homes I’ve stayed in! Already planning on a return stay.

    Allison2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place to stay! So clean and comfortable! Everything you need is there and the lake is so beautiful. In the evening it becomes like glass and you can sit down by the water with a cocktail and just feel life’s stress slip away. Highly recommend!

    Amy2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is very adorable, clean and has everything you need for a relaxing time on the lake! It’s been beautifully updated and is really on a wonderful, quiet lake! Our group enjoyed our relaxing weekend getaway and hope to be back in the future! Cassie is a phenomenal host and made communication a breeze.

  • Fantastic place for a family of five. Easily my top vacation rental property for family summer fun. Host provided lots of info on local area. Lake was great for our kids. Sleeping set-up was perfect with plenty of space for everyone. House was extremely clean and easy to feel at home in. Am already considering coming back next summer with the family and maybe even for a fall trip for mountain biking and hiking without the kids :)

  • We had an amazing time. Plenty of space. The self check in process is quick and efficient. It is very close to Caberfae. We had a much better time than expected (and we usually go to Colorado.) This place was beyond my expectations. Host was also great. Thanks a ton.

  • Place was great! We were just a family of 4 with our golden doodle but could easily sleep 3 families of four or more. Beds and pillows were very nice and comfortable. Plenty of nice towels for bathing and a fully stocked kitchen to cook our own meals. We definitely will book again. Conveniently located to Caberfea Ski slopes.

  • As I’m sure you know, there is no cleaning fee, but a list of items to take care of before leaving. I did not find this inconvenient at all, the list was not as bad as I expected after reading other reviews, and since we were trying to do a trip on the cheap it was the perfect combination for our group. The list was easily taken care of by the 4 of us who stayed there. For those thinking about using this as an ice fishing base camp, there is a public launch within about 100 yards of the house and worked very well for us. If we were going to head up there again, we would stay with Dewayne again.
