  • relaxing get away from the city ! make sure you put the accurate amount of guests so you don't get charged for a visitor because there aren't visitors allowed , but it was peaceful , we used the hot tub in the rain and enjoyed the view ! i love the open woods .

  • This space is even better than the pictures! Super comfy, huge king-size bed. Lots of nature (5 min walk to the river) with birds and deer frequenting the backyard. At night, the porch is perfect for stargazing. I stayed here for about 6 weeks and Andy helped make this feel like a home away from home - very quick to respond to anything I needed. Would love to come back during the summer when everything is in bloom. The yard is huge and the garden looks amazing.

    Aaron2020-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a perfect space for my friends and I on a quiet weekend away. They were so kind and quick to respond and they had so many beds! Which was perfect for us. My doggo loved it as well. All the amenities you will need for a weekend is there. Thank you again ♡

Our older, well loved home is centrally located a short walk from downtown Greenfield. It is the perfect spot to stay on your trip through the Berkshires as we are less than 5 minutes off of I 91 and route 2. We are 7 minutes from local boarding schools, and 25 minutes from the 5 colleges in Amherst and Northampton. Restaurants, great views, music, and family-friendly activities are nearby. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
A clean, private, and charming 2 bedroom apartment with large windows for a picturesque tree top view. It is spacious and has lots of light. The apartment has a private entrance via exterior stairs. Please note it is on the 3rd floor. We happily keep it stocked with breakfast items, coffee, tea, and fruit.
Our location is great because we are in a family friendly and outdoor adventure hub. We have the convenience of in town living, such as a 24 hour CVS, and laundromat around the corner. We have great local restaurants, a movie theatre, canoeing, and a brand new skate park, all within a 15 minute radius!
  • This is an excellent place to spend a few days. It was actually larger than I was expecting and has everything that you need for a very comfortable stay.

    Eric2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Super cozy living room with so much sunlight. Very clean with all of the nice extra touches like coffee, tea, and fresh orange juice in the fridge.

    Anil2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Charming apartment in a great location. Appreciate the coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. We were very comfortable.

    Anne2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Accurately described. Nice personal touches. Great communication, quick reply’s. Fantastic location. Would definitely stay there again.

    Curtis2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Sarah’s over Thanksgiving weekend with family in Greenfield. We love this place, but especially Sarah who works hard and is so kind. The apartment is warm and welcoming, with everything you could want. We especially appreciate the lovely retro pink and black bathroom with tons of useful supplies, and a well-stocked kitchen. The apartment has a separate, private entrance up several outdoor staircases, so older folks or those who have trouble with stairs might be challenged.

    Kit2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute apartment. I'd live there myself! Close to the main st. My friend and I stayed there for one night and were very comfortable. I would stay again.

A two level loft apartment walking distance to Shelburne Falls. Private, simple, unique, cute, and efficient. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet with the notable exception of a nearby train intersection. 4-6 times in a given 24 hour period there'll be a loud train whistle. Please see Covid-19 update in "Other things to note..."
This space is most comfortable for one or two people. There is a spare bed which I will set up upon request so that a third person may be added. The Apartment has an open ceiling in the kitchen area and a winding stair leading to the living and sleeping area. The upstairs has three different levels: one exiting to the back deck, one a reading area, and the third level is the television area. (In the event that the memory foam mattress needs to be set up it will be in the TV area of the apartment.) The Queen size bed is on the floor but from the 1st level height it will feel like a normal height bed. Ceilings are low on the 2nd floor...watch your head... Kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, etc.... There are some basic food items like olive oil, butter, eggs, 1/2 and 1/2, tea, coffee, cereal/oatmeal, and so on. On the back deck you'll find a small grille and in the tree line I have steel fire ring for an evening fire (wood provided).
Shelburne Falls is a quaint town. There are several restaurants in town and easy access to museums, hiking, mountain biking, etc... There is a laundromat about a 5 minute drive from here and a natural food store the same distance (4 minute drive).
  • Justin was a great host. This was a really cool place to stay. Great location-I just wish the restaurants had been open for me to walk to.

    Alex2020-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Justin's place for 2 weeks, and found that it had just about everything I needed to be comfortable. Justin was a very attentive and helpful host. Clean, close to center of town, heater worked very well, very well stocked kitchen. Would highly recommend.

    Brittany2020-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was beautiful, clean, and very well stocked. The host is kind and incredibly tentative. It's amazing for the price!

    Troy2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Justin was very thoughtful with his communication! He messaged to reassure us that everything would be extra clean amid the Corona virus outbreak. We enjoyed the tips he suggested and I even bought some of the glasses he keeps in the loft from local artists! Thank you for a wonderful stay! Rebecca

    Rebecca2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, lovely space for 1-2 people, very clean! Very comfortable! Extra touches of organic food on the shelves and in the refrigerator. Great location - 10 min. walk to downtown.

    Beryl2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Justin’s place. We just stayed for the night, but would’ve loved to stay longer. The place is super cozy and cute, close to all the whole spots in town. Justin also provides quite a few food staples which is very generous we made a nice breakfast, and he gave some great advice. good hikes in the area!

    Kim2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I planned a two week snowboarding trip. This was our second stop, and we stayed one night. As home renovators, we loved the design and thoughtful features throughout this little apartment. Nice glassware, an assortment of teas, and coffee are available. The host was quick to respond to my messages. The only negative I would say is the incredibly tiny bathroom sink that was virtually unusable. We used the kitchen sink to brush our teeth and perform our facial hygiene. Also, there is not a washer and dryer present within the apartment (just an FYI).

    Cat2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific overnight stay at Justin's place. Snug, clean, and simple. A perfect spot from which to launch our ski day.

There's an excellent bakery at the end of the street, and it is a short walk to the Shea Theater, bus stops, the Ct. River, bike trail, shopping, world-class concrete skate park, great restaurants and night life, grocery store, bank. Half an hour to the cultural centers of Northampton, Amherst, and Brattleboro, as well as scenic areas along the Mohawk Trail. Ten minutes from Greenfield. If you love a funky, creative and eclectic bohemian environment, you will love it here!
This is an old house and full of art objects and colorful, funky style. It can be a bit drafty in winter. It has high ceilings and plaster walls, so will tend to be dustier than a modern house. Nevertheless, people find it very comfortable, and interesting, to visit here! As far as stays longer than one week, I prefer to meet you first before committing to such an arrangement, unless there are exceptional circumstances which we will work out together in advance. Please contact me with your request.
The Central Street neighborhood is very diverse. It is one block up on the Hill above the downtown. There are triple decker apartment buildings, single family homes of varying vintage from the 1870s to the 1930s, and a headstart preschool in an old school building. In this neighborhood are published authors and poets, experimental musicians, single mothers and children, business people, people with disabilities in group housing, artists, bikers, and all types of people. Generally this is a quiet street and people are friendly. It is very convenient to all of the town, parks, river, bike path and the great new skate park with concrete bowl!

Second floor apartment down town Florence. 2-3 blocks from Brew Practitioner, Cafe Evolution and the Pie Bar. Steep stair entering the apartment. One bedroom on the 2nd floor and a loft with 2 beds on the 3rd floor. There are 2 other units so being thoughtful about noise is appreciated. Late April early May the electric assisted bike depot should be up and running. 5 min walk $1.50 per hour. : ) Ginny
  • Pictures in the listing are accurate, and the directions/parking information was spot on! It's a funky, cool space with lots of levels. Plenty roomy with most amenities. Host was super responsive and most helpful. Definitely expect to stay here again!

  • This place is awesome. Crazy high ceilings, cool industrial style. Master bed is very comfortable. Would definitely consider this place if you’re staying for multiple days. 10/10 would book again.

    Jake2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place!

    Christopher2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Virginia's place activates all my Northampton nostalgia. Interesting art, exposed brick walls, and a loft? I'm in love. Add to that Cooper's, the Freckled Fox, and Pie Bar around the corner, and you get perfection. Ginny was very communicative and helpful as we tried to pick out the best of her properties for our small get-together. I'd come back any day!

  • We had a nice stay here! The decor is lovely, and it's a great location. The bed is very comfortable. The water pressure on the shower is meh, but shouldn't be a game changer unless that really matters to you. We had TONS of fun at the bowling alley in town. Also had great meals at El Sotano, Gypsy Apple Bistro, and Delicatesse.

  • The bed was very comfortable. It was nice and quiet in the room. It was the perfect temperature to get a great night’s sleep, which we did.

  • Ashley‘s place is a lovely, and charming place to stay. I would highly recommend it! I can’t wait to come back in the future and eat at Ashley‘s restaurant, Five Eyed Fox. Which is in the same building. I was only there for one night so there to study and, unable to actually leave the building. It was lovely neighborhood to drive into. Looking forward to seeing that neighborhood and Ashley again!

    Patricia2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and central place to stay while in Turner's Falls. And it sits above Ashley's wonderful Five Eyed Fox restaurant which is a fantastic place for brunch/dinner. Enjoy!

  • The room is in a cool second floor apartment in the center of Turner's Falls. You have to access it through the kitchen, but it is big and nicely decorated and has a table, futon, bed... basically a lot of options. Kitchen is spacious with restaurant grade implements. Didn't encounter host on my brief stay but communication was good.

Small, rustic cabin in the woods behind our home. The cabin has electricity, but no running water. Drinking and cooking water are provided from a hand pumped container. The cabin is a beautiful place to slow down, connect to nature and one's self. If you love to camp, you will love the cabin. It is the perfect locale for a personal retreat. We are happy to arrange a yoga class at our home studio as well. It is like a tree house, where all are welcome to come, simplify life and just be.
There is a full sized, comfortable bed for sleeping in the cabin, as well as a table for working or having a meal. The cabin has a dry bathroom (no plumbing), there is a wash basin and container of water for handwashing and an antique composting toilet. There is also a woodstove to heat the cabin in the chilly season. The cabin is available May-Dec. Hearty, experienced winter campers may inquire about winter rentals during the ski season. Ample firewood is provided to keep the cabin warm, though the path to the cabin may be harder to navigate if there is snow.
Cummington is a beautiful, rural town; but we are just 30 min from Shelburne Falls and Northampton as well as 45min to 1hr from the many cultural offerings of Berkshire County. There are plenty of nearby forests and parks to hike, bike, swim, fish and canoe. We are 45 min from Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire East for your outdoor adventures. We are just 5 min from the Old Creamery Coop a neighborhood treasure to grab a quick meal or pick up some groceries. There is plenty to do to fill your time while in the hilltowns. We are happy to help you plan your visit.
  • Perfectly clean and simple. Stacey and her family were some of the kindest people I have met yet.

    Sophia2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stacey's cabin on her family's property is a wonderfully simple and secluded cabin surrounded by tall trees. The wood stove kept things toasty, the airy living space is beautiful and peaceful. The cabin is at the edge of the forest about 100 feet behind the house and garden. The surrounding area is quiet, beautiful--gravel paths up and down wooded hills, orchards, old stone homesteads and weathered barns. The nearby Old Creamery coop is absolutely fantastic. I pulled up to the house and Stacey was out boiling sap from their sugar maples, and she sent me off with a fresh jar of the most rich, dark maple syrup. I came for just one night to get away from the city and real life, and I was very happy.

    Taka2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Stacey and Brian were such AMAZING hosts!!! I really needed that time to get away into nature. The creative journaling class Stacey hosted was perfect. Everything was amazing, I would definitely book this space again!

  • What a beautiful stay in a tranquil spot. The cozy woodstove was just like home. Thank you!

  • A little gem in a Western, Ma backyard. Perfect for a quick getaway for some quiet time.

    Nicole2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best AirBnB experiences I’ve had. Stacey is a seasoned host and accurately describes what the experience is like. The little wood-burning stove pumps out a ton of heat for warmth and cooking. The composting toilet is easy (and fun) to use. There are a bunch of other minor details about this place that make it perfect for a relaxing weekend away; not least of which are the beautiful, quiet woods that surround the Just Be Cabin. I can’t wait to be back here.

    Ben2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great winter weekend in this cabin. It was plenty warm with the wood stove and on a nice piece of land. We had a little difficulty getting out of the snowy driveway with our prius (no snow tires) but before we even asked for help, Stacey was there with some sand to save us.

    Danielle2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Just Be cabin is a perfect place to step away from the stressors of work and life. Here you can re-discover the peacefulness of living simply and gently on the earth.

Quiet first floor bedroom with half bath. Dorm size refrigerator, microwave, television (Netflix), WiFi. clean updated kitchen. Lots of privacy, can access kitchen and shower upstairs. Access to the sawmill River. Close to UMass Amherst and Montague Book Mill.
Great location has own half bath, fireplace and private entrance. The downstairs is handicap accessable but no shower. There is a microwave and small refrigerator in this room. There is plenty of room for a crib or air mattress.
The house is situated on the Saw Mill river. It is surrounded by woods. We are ten minutes from Umass Amherst and ten minutes from Greenfield. The Montigue BookMill is a great place to have coffee. The Robert Frost trail is up behind the property as well as two major State parks. We are on the National Historic Byway.
  • Being our very first experience with Airbnb we weren't sure what to expect from any rental we choose. Elaine's accommodations and laid back hospitality exceeded our expectations and made the whole experience positive. The room and half bath were sparkling clean and private, the bed very comfy, the location and setting peaceful and a perfect location for our purposes. The Montague area is one of the best locales Western MA has to offer - out in the country yet convenient to all surrpunding hotspots. Would highly recommend and certainly return. Be sure to visit the Montague Book Mill (which is right around the corner) !

    Karen2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine was great! She communicated everything clearly and was there if we had any questions. The place was in a nice, quiet location near the Montague Book Mill and the space itself was very private. Would highly recommend!

  • Elaine is a very sweet host. The place was clean and beautiful. It’s better to get there earlier in the day as it’s a bit tucked away and hard to see in the dark. But the house and room are great and Elaine was very welcoming.

    Aishwarya2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine’s place was great. We spent just one night there with our six month old daughter, but Elaine was friendly, welcoming and attentive. She fosters community between the guests and we shared a nice breakfast with a family from Germany. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Be sure to check out the Book Mill nearby.

  • Was in the area to visit a school this weekend with my son. Elaine’s place was an excellent choice. Perfect location. Big (a lot more than just “a room in a house”). We stayed in a basement room - almost a bachelor suite! Super clean. Comfy beds. Beautiful property. We would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the large rural property. And I’d definitely stay there again when we’re back in the area. I highly recommend it. Really - book it quick - before its unavailable. Thank you Elaine! Merci... Jon

    Jon2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Very lovely home in a great location. The room is as described, clean and comfortable. It is in a shared home but still feels very private. However, there were no instructions or information regarding the kitchen so even though it's listed as a shared kitchen I did not feel comfortable to use anything. Would recommend and would return!

    Ally2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • I had an excellent stay at Elaine’s place! I didn’t expect it to be as private and comfortable as it was. And her quick responses to my questions was very much appreciated. The house was in a perfect location for a wedding I was attending at the Montague Retreat Center, which was only 1.4 miles away. Would love to stay again!

Cozy third floor apartment with a view of the tree tops! One bedroom with a comfy king size bed. Big windows, lots of light and nice views of the neighborhood.
There is a kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, coffee makers, electric tea kettle, toaster (not a full kitchen, but you can do some cooking). I also provide coffee and k-cups, milk, almond milk, and breakfast bars. Big bathroom with a shower stall (no bathtub), two sinks, granite counter, and a vanity. TV with basic cable, exercise ball and yoga mat. This is a three-quarter story apartment, and extra tall people might feel a little cramped. Many people enjoy the feeling of closeness, though, and really like it!
The neighborhood is close to the urban center and there are upsides and (what might be considered) downsides to that. It's an easy walk to downtown, so you don't have to worry about finding parking in the busy downtown area if you are up for a 5-10 minute walk. There's some traffic noise from the street during morning and evening rush hours. Every once in awhile, there's a city event that you will notice because of people gathering, or you will be able to hear the goings on. Other than that it's a quiet neighborhood of mostly families, and some students. You will notice lots of people walking with dogs and children during the day. A lot of people have nice gardens, and most of the houses are maintained nicely.
  • My friend and I were so impressed with all aspects of this Airbnb. It was the perfect antidote to the current stressful times. Susan is hyper-vigilant in cleaning and disinfecting the space, allowing us to put our fears aside. Beyond her vigilance, Susan absolutely has a flare for creating a beautifully designed “personal space,” one that defies the generic, cookie-cutter space. Even among Airbnbs. She has created an “at home” space somehow. One that we willingly relaxed right into. We loved the King bed, a luxurious size and so comfortable. The amenities were perfect, just the very things we wished for and more. All reflecting the quality choices of the owner! The large bathroom/meditation space was a delightful surprise. Will return for sure! Recommend highly, nothing overlooked on Susan’s part. Karen

  • Susan's place is fantastic--clean, quiet, and extremely welcoming. The apartment has everything you might need for a short or even long stay, it is convenient to downtown Northampton, the bed is super comfortable, and there is even a yoga setup in the huge sunny bathroom. We especially appreciated all the snacks and breakfast foods. We will be back!

Relax, rejuvenate and unplug in this ultimate rustic getaway experience in the country. In our beautiful screened Pondhouse, you can gaze at the stars and listen to the sounds of nature from your cozy warm bed. Feel the breeze as you sleep in this magical place unlike any other you will have ever seen. Your whole being will be nourished by your time spent here. There is the Pondhouse itself, the outdoor fire pit, meditation spots around the pond, and trails nearby for walking in the woods
May 17, 2020 Update We are not opening until July 1 this season. Peter is busy building a composting toilet, outdoor sink and shower so the Pondhouse will be able to be on it's own with no more access to Peter's studio. We are really hoping that this will keep everyone safe and healthy. We will still provide sheets and towels and the Pondhouse will still be beautifully set up. We want to give ourselves a month to see how all this works - but now that the Pondhouse will be totally separate from our studio and home we are open to having kids, as we realize that childcare is going to be much more difficult for people. We will no longer allow dogs. This breaks my heart! Unless you have a really old little dog who wouldn't play with Charlie. Read just a few reviews and you quickly understand that the Pondhouse is truly an EXPERIENCE. It is a transformative, magical retreat. NOTE: the Pondhouse is not for everyone. No electricity. ( You will see a few outlets, but animals chewed the electrical wires years ago and we decided not to hook it back up) No walls-screened only. You will hear animals in the woods. There are bugs! No kitchen. No stove (but there is a well stocked outdoor fire pit). You take chances with the weather. We've had guests love a cozy rainy weekend and even book an extra day during 30 degree temperatures. Still interested? Read on. . . NEW! This season. in order to make the Pondhouse 'self sufficent' : An outdoor composting toilet. It will be about 50 feet from the Pondhouse, and it will be clean and nice. An outdoor sink with running water from the stream! And outdoor shower as well. There is a fire pit a few steps from your door. It’s stocked with paper and chopped wood (or chop your own), so you can make a fire to roast marshmallows, cook a whole meal, or just hang out and enjoy the feeling of camping. We are figuring this out as we go. Unsure right now as to what amenities we will provide. Pack as though you are camping and need to bring everything you need except bedding and towels. CAUTION: *No Wi-Fi or cell service in the pond house - come to unplug! Cell service is available in pockets on our road. *No nearby transit, and we are in the boonies, so you’ll need a car *Planning this as a surprise? I strongly suggest that you KNOW that your partner will love this. I've seen a few surprises not work very well. Glamping is not for everyone! *We are on 50 acres and sound carries. This means no loud music. *Please be respectful of the peace, quiet and serenity of our property *MUST arrive before dark My husband, Peter Kitchell, and I are artists and have lived here for almost 32 years. Peter has carefully cultivated and nurtured the land, which includes building the Pondhouse with Hemlock trees from our woods. We have three buildings (our home and studios) a two minute walk from the Pondhouse. We are good at respecting our guest’s privacy but are also happy to chat and answer any questions. I've made a great list of places to eat (including dog friendly & vegan!) ** Having a special anniversary? Give us a budget and we can decorate with extra special things like flowers, treats, or whatever you'd like! This is truly an amazing place. ***PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING DESCRIPTION AND RULES BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION.*** We want to make sure that your stay meets your expectations... When making a request, please tell us a little about yourselves, your interest in the Pondhouse and indicate that you have read the full listing and house rules... Thank you!
It's quiet. It's the country. Ashfield is closest town about 8 min away. Sh Falls is about 12 min away. Great site for hikes. Elmer's for breakfast! The best pancakes in New England. Country Pie for Pizza The Lakehouse - Ashfield - Right on the lake. Great scene at night at the bar or hang on on the deck overlooking the lake. Shelburne Falls is about 12 minutes away. WHERE TO EAT ( fancy and amazing) Gypsy Apple Bistro, 65 Bridge Street, Blue Rock Restaurant, Sh Falls, SO good. Vegan options. Mocha Maya’s, ( good coffee) 47 Bridge Street, Hearty eats - vegan (like us:) and gluten free but also has fish and chips. We love it! Enjoy the beauty of the woods on our property of 40 acres or the many nearby trails and parks. We are located within 30-45 minutes of six colleges and many attractions in the Pioneer Valley, as well as North Adams and Williamstown. There are a few amazing restaurants nearby in Shelburne Falls and great pizza in Ashfield. We will be happy to give you all kinds of info on the best places. Check out galleries and artists studios in Shelburne Falls, walk across the gorgeous Bridge of Flowers, take a raft trip down the Deerfield River with Zoar outdoor (possibly guided by our son who works there! ) Check out the amazing glacial formations the "Potholes." In the summer swim and sun at Ashfield Lake, check out the Ashfield Farmers market on Saturday, or see amazing summer theater at Double Edge Theater.
  • Absolutely stunning location - weather was still wonderful and the fall scenery was beautiful to see from inside the pondhouse. We fell in love with Charlie too.

    Julia2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place. We went there for a weekend this October but unfortunately our stay was cut short due to a family emergency. Gayle was very understanding and has been working with us to reschedule the night we missed. I wish we could have stayed longer!

    Christina2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a long weekend at the Pondhouse, and it didn't disappoint us at all! We followed Gayle's directions, and it was really easy to find the place. Gayle's family is super friendly. It was simply soothing to sit back and relax here. Even though the temperature dropped to 30s at night, it was still cozy and warm snuggling with my friend under multiple layers of blankets Gayle provides. We would definitely love to come back and visit!

    Jessie2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Gayle was a sweetheart. It rained, and we weren’t as prepared as we thought for cold weather. So she gave us beanies, scarves, even boots to keep us warm and comfortable! And we had such a pleasure from the most friendliest and sweetest dog ever: Charlie. We love him!! 😃❤️

    Gladys2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, romantic, back to nature, ... Our stay was exactly what we had hoped for!

    Maaike2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • I'm a regular in the tiny house / glamping scene and Gayle's place was right up there in top-of-the-list territory. Her Pondhouse is nestled in the unpretentious greenery at the bottom of her magnificent property at the end of a quiet country road. The pictures give you a good sense of the space but what you don't get is a sense of the magic that you feel inside the space with the sun streaming through the tall grasses and the quiet of the leaves falling on the metal roof. The pictures also don't tell you how wonderful the bed is and how soft the bedside rugs are. So many delightful touches. My teenage daughter and I stayed there for two nights. We had planned to go on some hikes in the area but in the end decided we couldn't tear ourselves away from the Pondhouse. We'll be back!

  • What an incredible weekend spent in Gayle's pond house. Every minute was a dream. the decor was beautiful and the nature even more so. We cooked out by the campfire, napped and read for hours in the cozy pondhouse bed, we explored the neighboring towns and hiked and ate well. All around a magical and romantic weekend with my new husband on my birthday!

Enjoy this cozy, tucked away space in South Amherst, with easy access to the Five Colleges, shopping, interstate 91, route 116 and Route 9.
  • This apartment is perfect for my needs. Private, clean, great location, responsive and respectful hosts. Excellent value.

  • This was the perfect place for a weekend getaway! It's a very clean and comfortable apartment with a great location and attentive hosts. We'd definitely stay here again.

  • Carol and Erold provide a wonderful space that is clean, bright and comfortable. The beds and pillows are good quality and the appliances are all new and work well. There are plenty of plush towels, an iron and ironing board, a hair dryer, some cleaning supplies and quality soap (shower, bathroom sink and dish detergent). I particularly enjoyed that eco-friendly products were provided. Additionally, the shower has excellent pressure. Basic amenities like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, teas, some condiments, cooking oil, etc were also available, which was a very nice touch. The communication was easy and fast and Carol made sure to check on how the stay was going after we got settled (through Airbnb website). The location was absolutely perfect too. It was a 7 minute drive into Amherst centre but far enough away to be nice a quite. I would highly recommend a stay at the Bailey’s Apartment.

  • Nice location!

    Mia2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • The place of Carol and Erold is even better than we can see in the pictures! Everything was clean, organised and working. I spent 7 days with my husband and baby and we felt very comfortable. We do recommend the place!

    Débora2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Look no further...Carol and Erold's place is a great home away from home. The location is located with quick access to Amherst, Northampton, and South Hadley (all within a 10-15 minute drive). The peacefulness, quiet, and amenities were perfect for a weeklong getaway in Western MA. Their airbnb has a full kitchen, great bathroom, two rooms, and a living room space. It was a great stay and I'd definitely return when/if I'm in the area again.

All the amenities you would need to stay in and cook and watch a movie or walk into town a short walk away. The lovely home cooked breakfast delivered at our door, the fully working fireplace with wood provided and the amazingly comfortable kind size bed made this a truly wonderful romantic winter getaway. Thank you Katherine and Robert for being the most perfect hosts!

  • Book it! One of the best Airbnb experiences I have had. So much really useable space. Made working remotely so easy especially due to great wifi. Outstanding location for Smith College and downtown. Excellent off-street parking (hard to find in this location). Wonderful old-time charm with modern conveniences like nice bathroom, microwave and mini-fridge. Friendly and very accommodating hosts (brought us ice for my daughter’s injured knee). Tasty and artfully presented breakfast delivered to your room. I am so disappointed that I discovered this when my daughter has only a few months until graduation!

There's an excellent bakery at the end of the street, and the house is a short walk away from live music and theater the Shea Theater, bus stops, the Connecticut River, the bike trail, boating, world-class concrete skate park, shopping, great restaurants and night life, grocery store, banks, as well as being only half an hour away from the cultural centers of Northampton, Amherst, and Brattleboro, as well as scenic ares along the Mohawk Trail. Ten minutes from downtown Greenfield.
If you love a funky, creative and eclectic bohemian environment, you will love it here! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and bohemians of all ages. You'll have the privacy you need. The bedroom I am offering is called the Vintage Bower and features old records and memorabilia of that nature. If you need tips on the arts and music life in the Valley I have info for you. I prefer to meet guests before extending a booking longer than a week. If you have extenuating circumstances needing longer than one week, please contact me to explain your situation and we may be able to work out a special offer for your stay.
It is very convenient to all of the town.
  • We very much enjoyed our stay with Nina in Turner Falls. She had great advice for places to check out. The cats were an added bonus. Maisey slept with us both nights, which was nice since we also have cats. Both Rusty and Maisey LOVE belly rubs...Beast did not.

Our home is an open place, a sanctuary, crisp, clean, simple, fragrance-free and comfortable. Original fir floors, sanded and re-finished. Your room with three windows is airy and light. The living room has an open floor plan. Walls and windows have rounded corners giving a southwestern feel, friendly and relaxing. Southern exposures reveal views of "green". Following a path down to the river, you'll find a bench for meditating.
Your room is about 120sq. feet, has THREE windows, and is on a fairly quiet street though you'll hear some cars passing. It's a real bed, and is full-sized, no box spring.
Our street is close to Florence Center, but is not a major thoroughfare, (if anything around here could be considered a thoroughfare!) so there is some traffic, but not much. It is residential, we have good neighbors that look out for each other.
  • Comfortable, inviting, quiet – a room in a home with a thoughtful host, just as described.

  • Wonderful tranquil setting not far from Northampton and a beautiful, thoughtfully re-designed house with a very comfortable atmosphere and a kind host. The best night's sleep I've had in a long time! As an artist, I can appreciate the creative touches Lani has included in the decor and her use of color and lighting. In colder months radiant heated floors are a delight to walk on with socks or barefoot.

  • My stay at Lani's ranked among the best of my 6 airbnb experiences (which have all been very positive!). It was certainly the cleanest . Also, Lani is quite friendly and a very clear communicator. I arrived an hour later than planned due to a tooth emergency, and Lani was quite understanding. She made me feel at home right away. The house combines exquisite, uncluttered taste with supreme comfort and yes, total cleanliness.

    Margarita2019-11-02T00:00:00Z

  • We booked Chris' house for the second time and Chris was very friendly, just like an old friend! He also drove us through the entire Deerfield, introduced us to the history of the town, and took us to visit the Tinggi Candle Company, which is a very charming place! Chris 'house is as clean, beautiful, warm and comfortable as ever. I will still book Chris' house in the future. This is my home! Thanks again to Chris for his warm hospitality and to make our journey even better!

  • This is a shared home with full and private access to the entire upstairs floor and common kitchen area. It was very clean, organized and conveniently located close to all. Chris was available to provide recommendations and travel directions. Great stay.

  • Another nice stay while visiting our son at Deerfield Academy. Chris, an alum, is a great host and you can’t beat the value!

    Kathy2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is the best memory I have booked at Airbnb! Chris's house is very clean and spotlessly clean, especially cozy and has a large surf bath. Chris was very attentive. The day before my arrival informed me that there was a snowstorm the next afternoon and reminded me to be safe. After I arrived, Chris instructed me to park the car in his garage, and the snow began to fall. From 2pm to late at night, the snow covered 20 cm. Early the next morning, Chris got up to clear the snow, fearing that it would affect my travel. We stayed at Chris' house for two days and he helped us a lot, thank you very much! Next time you come to Deerfield to book again, highly recommended to all friends!

Get away from it all in this quiet and cozy space. Situated on the top floor of a house in the woods with a skylight above a small sunroom with a tiny private deck on the roof overlooking the back yard. All cotton and natural fiber bedding, filtered water, chemical free cleaning, and natural wood floors yield a healthy place to relax. A very tiny fully equipped kitchen stocked with wholesome supplies make for a comfortable home away from home.
It is natural and chemical free and feels like a secluded tree house while the University and downtown Amherst is very near by and easily accessed by public transportation. The space my own home when I am not traveling and it contains my library and fully stocked kitchen, a tiny home inside a larger one. The studio shares a bathroom in the hall with another single person who keeps it very clean and uses it minimally.
Puffers pond for swimming is just around the corner with waterfall, and hiking trails all around.
  • Maggie & Kristen were amazing hosts. The Oasis was very spacious and much bigger than it looks in the photos! It was a great location and the hospitality was perfect. We received cute little notes on arrival and thoughtful quick responses throughout our stay! Thanks so much to both of you for a great weekend!

    Maria2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

In a really convienent location for our trip to downtown Amherst and Northampton and walking distance to a nice pond with a trail. The room was very clean and spacious and we were given excellent tips for breakfast and dinner spots. Maggie was very inviting and warm and was there to answer all our questions. Great stay especially for the money.

  • We loved being in this soothing, quiet, rustic studio in a wooded part of Amherst, close to some very nice walking trails. A nice mini kitchen was especially a treat and made our stay very comfortable. I loved all the floor space for stretching and yoga too!

  • The home was beautiful and comfortable and Maggie was super kind and accommodating. Probably the best airbnb I've ever stayed at!

  • Maggie and Kristin are warm and welcoming, and I would visit again.

  • I liked it so much that I extended my stay. Maggie is warm and gracious.

  • Beautiful, cozy house in the woods. Maggie is a very nice and responsive host. The kitchen and bedroom are quite big with all the facilities. The bedroom was beautifully decorated with 'Lavender' theme to it. The location is very convenient to get around as there is a bus-stop and a marketplace nearby. Would definitely stay there again if I'm in Amherst again.

  • Great place and great location.

    Eric2018-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place, as advertised. Clean and cozy home a good brisk walk (40 mins) or a short bus ride to UMass Amherst. Good, affordable alternative to a hotel.

    Ajit2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Maggie's house is a three-story building, and my Lavender Room is on the first floor. Very warm and comfortable room, said to be the favorite place for Maggie and her children when they were young. The overall house is very good, the bathroom is good. But because it is far from downtown, no car may not be very convenient. But there are Uber and Lyft, and buses can easily catch up if they are optimistic about the shifts and time points. Because it is near the woods and nature reserves, the scenery is great, with small waterfalls, natural pools and hiking trails nearby. However, there will be more mosquitoes, but most of them do not bite. If you mind, you can bring a mosquito repellent bracelet, because Maggie is a polymer chemist and doesn't like plastic products and chemically synthesized disinfectants. A cabin on the edge of the kitchen is dedicated to washing clothes. The washing machine and dryer are separated separately. When you are finished, you no longer want to dry your clothes. The kitchen has a gas range (or natural gas), microwave, oven, fridge, kettle and coffee machine. There is a separate storage space in the refrigerator and kitchen cabinet, as well as food and tools that everyone shares. Overall very quiet, very comfortable, very good value for money! Maggie is also a very friendly and talkative landlord, can ask her anything.

The Railroad House is a cute attached converted barn in the village center with parking, private entrance, 2 floors, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, WiFI, but no television. It is located within just a minute's walk from the famous Bridge of Flowers. Other local attractions include several dining choices from a drugstore soda shop on up to 5-star dining, as well as the country's 2nd oldest bowling alley. On weekends you can often find live music. Train goes by twice/day on average.
Check out our vinyl collection! Use the turntable to adjust the atmosphere to your heart's content.
  • This was our third or fourth stay at the railroad house. We love the quiet, the canal, the wood rooms and the trains.

    Holiday2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The train can be a distraction or an attraction. I happen to like it.

  • Second stay and just as great!

    Cassie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so great. We stayed here for 7 days while our bathroom was being remodeled and it was the perfect home away from home. It's really beautiful and cozy inside, with a great little sitting area by the turntable and hundreds of records. We drank wine and listened to Blondie and Merle Haggard and played board games on the rug. Everything is beautiful and cute and pleasant. The upstairs sleeping loft is so toasty warm and cozy, as is the gorgeous and clean little bathroom. The location is also excellent--you just pop down one block and you're in downtown Shelburne Falls, right by McCusker's (groceries) and all the restaurants/bars this little town has to offer. We also brought our dog and it is such a relief to know that there are cool places to stay in the area that allow pets. Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this spot--this is our second time renting it and we will definitely be doing so again!

    Marianna2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy place conveniently located within short walking distance to the center if town. Great deal.

    Peter2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Randy and Pat have a wonderful AirBNB in Shelburne Falls. It is probably my favorite place to stay, and that’s saying a lot in a town with several great AirBNBs. I would recommend Randy and Pat’s place to anyone.

    Bryce2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Pat and Randy's place was a cozy little place that was perfect for a weekend getaway. The turntable was a great experience to have and browsing the collection reminded us of bands we hadn't heard in years! The location was super ideal, less than 2 minute walk to get food, drinks and coffee! Can't wait to come back!

  • Cute house in a cute part of Massachusetts. Lani is pretty cool too, get to know her.

  • Lani is an excellent host with a spacious home. The road is quiet so you can certainly rest well in the evening if you're running around the area. I felt very comfortable during my stay and each day was lovely. It felt like a second home.

  • Lani is an amazing host. Her house is artistically designed and sparkly clean. Highly highly recommend...

    Omid2018-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • It was just like staying with a friend. Lani is an excellent host. She was waiting for us when we arrived and took the time to show us around her characterful house and our room. The bedroom and bathroom were incredibly clean and tidy and we had access to all the amenities that we could have possibly needed. We had a restful night’s sleep as the bed and pillows were comfortable and the house is located in a peaceful setting right by a river. We would love to return!

  • This place deserves six stars. You will not believe the workmanship on this house. Even better, Lani is a thoughtful and gracious hostess.

  • Super welcoming people, lovely yard to relax in, flexible friendly family. The bathroom is so artful, many special touches there. Impressive carpentry work by the owner on floors. Patient with my tech/PW problems that resulted in lack of notification about time of my arrival. Enjoyable interactions, helpful local info and suggestions. Bet you love it too.

Come stay in the country in our cute & cozy self-contained tiny trailer (17 feet long). Feedback from guests over 6'1 it's a tight fit in the bed. Trailer has a fridge, stove, microwave, sink, bathroom/shower. The views are amazing. The space is tiny, but adorable. Bed is a full, comfy for two. If you've ever wanted to try tiny house camping, this is your chance! View full starry night when clear. There are 2 dogs and 2 cats on our property, but we have a fenced in yard. Near Civil War cemetery.
A single person or a couple!
The neighborhood is beautiful. There is an artisan cheese farmer next door with fresh raw milk and cheese for sale. The neighbors are quiet and the houses are pretty far apart so there's a lot of privacy. The best part is the Cummington Coop Creamery right down the hill from our house. Yummy organic food, deli, wine, beer, local ice cream and awesome desserts.
  • This was our second time back to Aliza’s and Ric’s and we really love this place. The land is beautiful, casita is so cozy, and Aliza and Ric are wonderful, generous hosts. We shall definitely be back.

    Eva2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Aliza was a great host! She responded quickly and had a wonderfully adorable place ready and waiting for me.

    Dana2019-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for one person or two people who are really, really comfortable w each other. Nice touches, water in the fridge, garden tomato’s ... a warm greeting from Aliza. The description is spot on, really enjoyed my all too brief stay.

    Linda2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect setting for peak foliage viewing in the Berkshires! Picked the cute Casita for a quick 2 night getaway and was pleasantly surprised how well it worked out. It was comfy & toasty warm during 2 nights with frost. The carafe of hot coffee was perfect along with picking up some good eats from down the street @ The Creamery, recommended by Aliza. Even after the frost and her recommendation, I was still able to harvest some carrots & greens from her garden. The casita was clean & cozy with flannel sheets and lots of blankets. She was very quick to respond to questions I had being close by, yet the Casita still had plenty of privacy.

    Patrice2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing experience staying at this cozy trailer.

    Abhiram2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the Casita! It's in a beautiful setting and is very cozy. I love tiny houses and was just giddy on arrival. The bed was super comfy and we loved watching movies from it. We enjoyed coffee in the garden and the hot shower. The Casita is nearby several super quaint Western Mass towns. Great food, shopping, farms, beautiful vistas, etc, etc. Will be telling all my friends and hopefully returning some day!

    Rebecca2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The Casita is as described small but efficient. There was a bowl of fresh cherry tomato’s upon enter the trailer. I thought there would be water in the fridge but not there. However, she brought hot water for my tea each morning. I also picked fresh basil, tomatoes, and eggplant that made a delicious dinner. The pictures are very accurate. Overall I would go back and stay. Thoughtful hosts.

    Elaine2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • First let me get this out of the way: this place is small. I’m a big guy and, if it had been any smaller it would have been uncomfortable to stay there for me. That said, the spot is beautiful, Aliza and Ric were the perfect mix of attentive and hands-off. They were there for everything I needed but not intrusive. I would certainly recommend the property to someone looking to sneak away.

Welcome to our bright, newly renovated suite in the historic Elihu Smith home, built in 1847. Centered on historic South Main Street in Sunderland, we are minutes from UMass, Amherst, Hadley, Deerfield, and located on the local bus route connecting directly to UMass and Amherst. Ideal for stays of any length of time, for business or pleasure during any time of the year. Walking distance to the Millstone market, as well the Bridgeside Café.
Private three-room, 2nd floor suite, consists of bedroom, dining room and bathroom.
Historic neighborhood lined with large-canopy maple and sycamore trees, moments from the "widest tree east of the Mississippi", Sunderland's Buttonball Tree. Moments from Mount Toby walking trails.
  • Having stayed with Susan, Mitch, and their family for three weeks, I can truly understand why they have a perfect score with their guests. I have stayed in many AirBnBs in the United States and Europe, and there are always a few that rise above all the rest. This is one of those amazing places that combine all of the great features that make AirBnB such a great option for travelers-- lovely people, gorgeous views, incredibly clean, and easy walking distance to a couple of excellent local markets and restaurants. It's an short drive to wherever you want to visit in the Valley (Amherst, Northampton, Montague Bookmill), but also a nice place to relax and chill if everything is closed during a pandemic! I certainly recommend, wholeheartedly, Susan's and Mitch's place to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Pioneer Valley.

    Scott2020-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I loved my weekend stay at at Susan and Mitch's place. Although we didn't meet, I was in contact with Mitch before, during, and after my stay. I found their place clean, quiet, and more spacious than I had anticipated. My flat was nicely renovated, while preserving the feel of the 19th-century house. I slept great on the large and comfortable bed, took nice warm showers, and appreciated the granola and english muffins they left me. Main Street is a quiet, but large, street with many beautiful old homes. Travel by bus to Amherst on the weekend is infrequent but definitely possible from a stop just up the street. In addition, with patience, I was able to get car service to and from Sunderland. I really enjoyed my stay and I truly hope I return. Thanks for the great place!

    Geoffrey2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice space and quite private. It was everything I needed to have a productive work week.

  • Wonderful stay at Susan’s cozy house. The house has contemporary design, which appear simple but with a sophisticated touch. Love the atmosphere. The room is flawlessly clean. Breakfast of fresh eggs from their home grown chicken is very tasty. The kids and dog are adorable together. (Friendliest German shepherd I have seen! ) Definitely recommend people to come stay here!!! 😊

  • We had a great time at Susan’s! The space was absolutely beautiful and sparkling clean. She was incredible responsive to questions and even provided us with breakfast materials for the weekend. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone! Thank you so much!

  • A slice of heaven in Sunderland. My wife and I had a memorable stay with Susan and Mitch in their beautiful home. The guest suite was perfection and breakfast was absolutely scrumptious! We look forward to staying with them again the next time we visit the valley.
