Steeped in a rich history of movie and TV production, Culver City is best known as the headquarters of several film studios. Located in the west part of Los Angeles, the neighborhood was first incorporated in the 1900s and has been a haven for movie-making ever since. While there are plenty of film and TV sets available to tour and theaters to experience, that’s not all Culver City has to offer. The neighborhood has become one of LA’s liveliest creative hubs thanks to an arts district housing a number of prominent galleries, small museums, and artist studios. As you wander through Culver City’s various districts, you’ll find blocks lines with unique boutiques and gastropubs. PLATFORM, an open-air shopping center covered in murals and living walls, is home to independent brands specializing in local food, clothing, and wellness products. There’s also a popular farmer’s market that happens weekly in Culver City.

Head to the Baldwin Scenic Overlook when you’re ready for some incredible views, or to nearby Marina Del Rey for a breath of sea air and a waterfront meal.

Southern California is known for its predictable sunny, warm weather, with mild temperatures for most of the year. There’s really no bad time to book your Culver City vacation rental, but perhaps the best time is the spring, when the summer heat hasn’t yet arrived and flowers are blooming all over the city. Summers generally remain temperate, though there can be a chance of a heat wave. There is always something going on in LA, but some larger events worth noting are the food and wine festival in August and a film festival in December. Fall and winter are never too cold, although you may want to pack a rain jacket just in case.

The Wende Museum

Founded in 2002, this unique collections-based research and education museum focuses on preserving Cold War history and artifacts. The museum exhibits art, artifacts, and archival documents that illustrate the Cold War period in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union from 1945 to 1991. The Wende offers free admission for all visitors on weekends.

Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook

This 500-foot tall hill features beautiful city vistas that can be accessed via concrete stairs, a meandering 1.5-mile dirt path, or by car. From the top, you’ll enjoy views of the entire Los Angeles Basin, the Pacific Ocean, and the San Gabriel Mountains. There is a visitor center at the base of the hill where you can learn about the history of the land through interactive exhibits and theater programs.

Abbot Kinney Boulevard

The mile-long stretch of Abbot Kinney is located 15 minutes away in Venice. With its cool surf shops, eclectic food trucks, vintage furniture emporium, and independent bookstore, the boulevard is a stylish block that’s also a hub for Los Angeles’ “Silicon Beach” tech scene.
