  • I have been staying at Gerry and Maureen's apartment, as I had to move from my own house, due to being a frontline worker during the coronavirus pandemic. I cannot say enough good things about Gerry and Maureen's place. It is spotless, with lots of lovely thoughtful touches. Gerry and Maureen are incredibly generous and accommodating hosts, who have gone out of their way to make me welcome. I cannot recommend their apartment enough, ideally situated for a visit to Cork.

  • Great hosts, very friendly. They even went the extra mile and stocked the fridge and cupboards with juice, milk, cereals, bread etc. Excellent value for the money.

This lovely cosy cottage is situated along the Wild Atlantic Way about 20 minutes from Kinsale on the R600 coast road. Have a look at https://www.facebook.com/irelandswaw to get a feel for this unique part of Ireland.
The cottage has a double bedroom on the second floor with a comfortable new double bed with good linen and down duvet. The adjacent bathroom has an electric shower. The cottage is beside the main house where your hosts live but is separate with its own access. The cottage is 3 Km from the historic village of Kilbrittain on the Wild Atlantic Way ( a 2000km coastal drive from Kinsale in the south to Donegal in the North). The village is home to a beautiful Castle and the skeleton of a fin whale the subject of the documentary 'Inside Natures Giants'. Kinsale is 12 Km away, renowned for its beautiful marina and delicious fish restaurants, home to the 17th Century Charles Fort, famous for its connection with King Charles and the Spanish Armada. There is an abundance of activities to occupy a visitor to this area. There are a wide range of golf courses within a short driving distance including the world famous Old Head of Kinsale, a headland off which the Lusitania was tragically sunk. You will also find a number of outdoor activity centers along the coast which offer surfing, sailing and wind surfing lessons. The beautiful sandy blue flag beaches of Garretstown and Garylucas are less than 10 minutes drive. Clonakilty is within 15KM, a lovely town where you will find the scenic Inchydoney beach, a Model Village and numerous lively pubs and restaurants. The Wild Atlantic Way follows the coast along through West Cork to places like Skibbereen and Bantry Bay.
The cottage is conveniently positioned between the towns of Bandon, Kinsale and Clonakilty. Each of these towns are on the main bus route to Cork City and also to all the major towns in West Cork.
  • Enda's place is a lovely cottage. Enda want there for the duration of our stay, buy made sure we had some tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival, which was a lovely touch. Her suggestions for local walks and places to eat we're great and spot on. Rebecca's kitchen cafe is and the corner and perfect for brunch (is open from Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm). Monks lane is outstanding. Pink elephant is very friendly. The views are superb.

  • Beautiful location Quiet, clean and safe Perfect for people traveling solo

    Cyndi2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here a couple of days and found it a very relaxing stay! It was nice to switch off from our busy travelling schedule and enjoy the (very) green and pretty area. Enda recommended a few walks which we did in the daytime that were beautiful.

    Hannah2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint, homely, close to good walks, short drive for supplies and to other attractions, friendly locals. Highly recommend.

  • We've just returned home from a lovely stay at Enda's cottage.... The area is beautiful and lovely and peaceful, the cottage was so cosy and homely! Enda makes sure you have everything you need! We were greeted with a fresh loaf of bread, milk and other essentials! It was brilliant! Thank you so much!!

    Jenny2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • I nice place to get away from the fast pace, beautiful surroundings.

    Kay2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Her directions are spot on and make finding the cottage super easy! It’s super clean and quiet and is the perfect hideaway but still close to amazing things to do!!

    Kat2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Enda’s place was very clean and comfortable. It was farther away from things than I realized, which is my fault for not paying enough attention to that. It would be a fantastic space if you were not sightseeing and just wanted to stay there, take some lovely walks and relax. Kinsale, about 30 minutes away, is a great town to spend the day in. I wish we had had time to take some of the great walks Enda suggested. Her directions to her place were also easy to follow; very detailed. And the food at the Pink Elephant as she suggested was great! Get the sticky toffee pudding for sure!

    Kilbrittain, Cork, Ireland

Our warm and welcoming cottage, boasts an original inglenook fireplace with solid fuel burning stove and exposed stone. The walls are at least one meter thick and the cottage predates the Irish famine.
This unique cottage is 5 kilometers from the village of Baltimore. There is a music studio on site and the hosts offer a range of creative options, such as recording, songwriting and video. There is no light pollution, so star gazing is fantastic. The property overlooks the Atlantic and area is well know for whale and bird watching.
Peace and tranquility married with the rugged landscape makes Spain, Baltimore unique. Dramatic coastlines along with ruins of old cottages and breathtaking cliff top views are unequaled. Lough Hyne, Irelands first marine nature reserve and saltwater lake, connected to the sea by rapids is also close-by.
  • We had a wonderful stay in Aisling's cottage. It is very cosy and clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. We loved the stove fireplace and the gardens. The area is also very peaceful with lots of walks and beautiful scenery, but also close to Baltimore and Skibbereen for grocery shopping etc. Would highly recommend this lovely place.

    Aoife2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I had a great time at the cottage. The hosts are very friendly and always very helpful if needed. Anytime we came back after a long day there was a warm fire in the fireplace. They also have two lovely dogs (golden retrievers). Thank you for being such great hosts.

    Aleena2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot, great house, lovely location. Spotless, charming, easy to get the hosts, very accommodating.

    Laura2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay here was perfect. The space was so cozy and in the most beautiful setting. Cannot wait to come visit again soon!

    Courtney2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing 3 day break in this refurbished Irish cottage. Aisling and Donagh were fantastic hosts - with the fire lit and fresh brown bread on arrival. The weather was wild but this only added to the cosiness of our stay as we curled up while it stormed outside. Donagh relit the fire for us each evening so the place was cosy on our return, and was kind enough to give us plenty of recommendations for the area. We had our dog Jack with us too who loved it as much as we did. We would highly recommend this as a venue for a romantic escape to the Wild Atlantic West. Thanks again to Aisling and Donagh for a great stay!

    Cathy2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Super comfy cottage to chill and enjoy the beautiful nature around. I came back after a year because it’s the perfect location to get a good rest and become zen, it’s so quit you only hear the wind and the sea!

    Rozemarijn2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quaint cottage, perfect for our winter getaway. Aisling is a great host, made us feel very welcome and had everything we needed ready for our arrival... including some fine wholemeal bread and the fire already lit. Perfect... thanks Aisling

    Hugh2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed at this cottage twice now, and we would love to stay there again. The beds are comfy, the bathroom and kitchen are spotless, and sitting by the fire is so relaxing. There are also gorgeous views from the property, and cliffs within walking distance. Both Baltimore and Skibbereen are quick and easy to get to (as long as you don't mind narrow roads!) and the hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. I love this place!

  • Quickly discover these unusual places in a place away from everything. A return to the source and to nature in a setting between sea and mountains. Two very attentive hosts and more than helpful. Thank you Laraine and Mick

    Angélique2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was my third stay at Laraine’s place and I had another brilliant 10 days there. The cottage is beautifully located and inside it has been prepared with great care and thought to ensure a completely relaxing, comfortable and very enjoyable stay. The walks from the cottage up to the hills or down to the sea are great and views ever changing and unforgettable. And so much to do in the area - Laraine provides all the information you will need to explore in full. I will find it hard to stay away in future!

    Barbara2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place was the perfect home base to explore the Beara Peninsula! Loved enjoying the sounds of birds and looking out over the water each morning over coffee. Don’t be afraid to come in early March! We were skeptical of the weather but we saw our share of sunshine and enjoyed the sights a bit more intimately. We truly wished that we had more time at the cottage.

    Emily2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Thanks to Laraine and Mick for a wonderfully relaxing stay. The welcome hampers were an unexpected and charming thought! We very much enjoyed the peace and quiet of the area and were very comfortable in your quaint cottage, thanks again!

  • Pleasant accommodation and friendly welcome

    Dominique2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time there, from eating great food that’s located close to the cottage, to some hiking and visiting the local bar for some drinks. The landscape was amazing and there is so much to do in the area. I can’t wait till I can come back to Ireland to revisit the cottage. Vanessa

    Vanessa2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay with beautiful views from the cottage. Laraine was very welcoming and great to communicate with.

    Karen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Laraine's cottage is one of the nicest Air B&B's I've stayed in. Truly has that unique vibe, really well designed renovated cottage with welcoming touches, and impeccable standards. The Beara peninsula is my favorite one around, it's magical and you can explore the area easily from the cottage, as well as hop into Kerry via the Healy pass. Couldn't have asked for more, quiet, peaceful, charming, comfortable and equipped with everything you need, including a warm and friendly welcome from Laraine.

    Castletown-Bearhaven, Cork, Ireland

In the heart one of Ireland's least known and unspoiled peninsulas this architect designed cozy eco chalet is REALLY off beaten the track (open & close 2 gates, unsurfaced road) in a yard with stabled ponies, ducks chickens and geese. Yet stylish, clean, and warm (3 heaters!). NEW mattress! Books about Ireland and local art. Bathroom with hot shower, washing machine. Toaster, cold water sink and electric kettle. New convection oven/microwave/grill unit. Composting toilet serviced regularly.
We are a genuine AirBnB - a private place opened out to those who share the AirBnB ethos and not available any other way. On the Wild Atlantic Way and the Beara Way, the chalet is located near the ruined Kilcatherine Church, built by monks said to be practicing for work on the Skellig Islands across the Bay and near the largest ogham stone in Ireland. Protected oak woodlands nestle by Ballycrovane Pier where local fisherman still harbour - and there are no jet skis. Visitors who have booked for only one night wish they had known how special the area is and allowed more time! [Do note, fellow cooks, that the cooking facilities are limited - new unit this summer replaces microwave with a unit that adds convection oven and grill as well, and there is a grill and toaster and electric kettle. ] And guests have asked us to say that we really are off the beaten track - finding us in the dark is not advised - and the unsurfaced road has two gates that need to be opened and closed. But they all say its worth it!
Secluded strands and hidden local piers. Ruins, wild headlands and unspoiled commonage running for miles. The end of the world. Castletownbere - about 18 kilometers distant - is the nearest town with restaurants and famous pubs. The Village of Eyeries - 5 km - has shop and post office and cafe. You can look out on one of the most remote bays - Ballycrovane - and headlands - the Cod's Head - on Ireland's west coast. You will never forget the experience, and you may even decide to return - or to never leave...
  • Chalet was full of character. Wish we'd stayed longer.

    John2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay and would have stayed longer if time permitted. Tony was extremely helpful and very responsive.

    Donna2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tony's place was amazing! We loved it's secluded and amazingly scenic setting. It was a short walk to amazing views of the ocean, near beautiful green fields! The space itself was very cool and rustic, the perfect spot to relax, read a book, and enjoy a cup of tea. Would highly recommend Tony's place to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the amazing landscapes that Ireland provides!

    Mathew2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Tony’s place is incredible. The eco chalet has everything you could need and is in the most beautiful off the beaten path location. Highly recommend staying in the Beara peninsula with Tony for a few days so you can truly explore. I would love to come back one day. The space is super warm and cozy, which is perfect for windy March nights. It had the perfect mini kitchen and all the books you could ask for to keep you entertained. Loved meeting the pets and wandering around the area. They also had excellent recommendations for walking paths and nearby areas to explore.

    Ellen2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay if you’re looking for something special off the beaten track.

    Veronika2020-03-09T00:00:00Z

  • What a wonderful getaway! Cannot recommend the treehouse enough. My wife and I are living locally and had heard great things about the treehouse so we decided we had to check it out for ourselves, we were not disappointed. Richard was the host with the most, a true gent. We were lucky enough to have glorious weather for our stay and we took full advantage of the deck which held the sun all day. The view is superb. The toasty croissants served in the morning via a pulley system is a wonderful addition. We have already booked our next escape in the treehouse. Top marks!

    Phil2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience, highly recommend. The most unique Airbnb I have stayed in. Location is great with only a 5m walk to Cork city centre. The treehouse is fascinating, so clean, comfortable, warm and has great views over Cork city. The breakfast is an amazing touch, I’d go back for that alone! Will definitely be returning!

    Ornaith2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a MUST STAY! The treehouse was phenomenal! The views are absolutely amazing, the breakfast of warm croissants and jam were delicious and super cute! I can’t even begin to describe how nice and accommodating Richard was! Richard had sanitized the entire place (due to the covid-19 pandemic) and you could smell that it was clean. I’m not sure what the reviews about the treehouse moving so much it woke them up was about because it was an extremely windy night when we stayed and it moved but definitely not enough to bother me and I get motion sickness extremely easy. When we come back to cork we will for sure be staying here again! It was a tie between the Ballyseede castle we stayed at and this for our favorite place we stayed during our 10 day trip here! Anyone thinking about booking should definitely do it! Thank you to Richard for having this awesome place for us to stay!!

    Hollis2020-03-21T00:00:00Z

  • A MUST SEE! This place is so much more amazing than the pictures and description even show. We only stayed for one night, but wish we could have stayed longer. You won’t want to leave! Beautiful views of the city, amazing amenities (especially considering you’re in a treehouse), and wonderful host who gave great local tips. If we’re ever back in Cork, we would love to stay here again! Highly recommend, it’s worth every penny!

  • Got a night stay here for my brother and fiance as an engagement present. They absolutely loved it. It was cozy, tranquil, gorgeous view. Proper tree house experience! Perfect place to go stay, especially with the countries current situation, if you want get away and to maintain social distancing!! Breakfast was delivered in a basket, pulled up to the treehouse, beautiful touch!

  • A very special place to spend our time in and around Cork. Total privacy and peacefulness. I’ve travelled quite extensively around the globe and I can honestly say this place is a slice of heaven. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen well stocked though we only did breakfast there. Kenneth our host was very nice to us and had lots of suggestions about the area. You won’t be disappointed and if you are it’s your fault, lol.

    Marian2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Spent a lovely weekend at Kenneth’s studio. Great place to chill out for a couple of days. The studio has everything you need and is peaceful and cosy, perfect location to relax and enjoy nature.

The Cosy Chalet is linked to "The Wild Atlantic Way". You will find fine scenery, superb beaches and lakes. All kinds of water-sport activities. Very good locally produced food, like cheese.
Who likes traveling knows the problem. Hotels can be quite expensive. One has to spend in the hotel for food and drinks. B&B's are sometimes offering small rooms with none or minimal cooking-facilities. You will miss your own private living-room. Holiday-houses are often only on a weekly base to get. They are sometimes too big. You can land "in the middle of nowhere" and with no reception. With our ambitious and new concept we try to make things a little bit better for you. Our accommodation is "All Inclusive"! Only the use of the washing machine (incl. washing-powder) and the tumble-dryer costs € 5 extra each. Bikes € 10/day We speak English, German, Russian and some French. You'd like to cook a lobster or you intend to smoke your self-caught Mackerel or Pollock, but you don't know how to make it. Please call us. How to find the cockles and mussels at the beach and how to make the legendary "Spaghetti Vongole". There would be so much to tell. You'll find "The Cosy Chalet" on our own 60.000m2 park, forest and lawns. Save Sandy Beaches 500m from our gate. You walk just across the road and you are on our private wood-lane to the sandy-beaches. The Cosy Chalet was 100 years ago may be a shelter for shepherds and their sheep. We had to demolish the walls and built it new. The Cosy Chalet is now a mix of old stone-walls and a massive oak-frame coming from England. Many interiors and paintings are true and period. It is a "One-In-All-Solution" on 2 levels. The Cosy Chalet offers 2 beds (80x200) in the attic, reachable with a stair/ladder. The attic has only a max. height of 1,50m. One cannot stand upright! There is a little "Velux" with may be the best sea-views. Because of the limited heights and the way to go up, we can recommend these beds only for younger people! All others find a sofa-bed on the ground-floor-level (120x200). Please consider that click-clack sofa is not as comfortable as a reall bed. There is a full size kitchen (that means absolutely everything you need, will be there.) of course with a full-size dishwasher and a dining-table. Bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Sufficient tea-towels, bath-towels, even those for the pool will be there. Free Sat-TV (some hundred channels in many languages), DVD, CD, WiFi. Please understand, that you may have to run a little fire to make the Chalet cosy. You will get all logs for free. All logs are homegrown and perfectly seasoned. The good thing is, you heat with a long lasting positive effect to the environment. Your "South-Terrace" is built like an old Roman Road. There you will find chairs and a coffee-table. A second, westerly terrace, surrounded by Rhododendrons will provide you with a simple dining-table and benches. From there you have direct access to the natural swimming-pond (water is like swimming in a river, no clorine, no chemicals) and the decking with fantastic views over the Carbery Islands, Castles and Fastnet Rock. The is a shower with a fresh running water on the decking. The Cosy Chalet has 4 sleeping options and this is may be ok for one night or two. But to get a really cosy feeling we recommend it only for two people. The Chalet is not suitable for people with mobility issues(narrow door to the bathroom, step on the entrance, sleeping area in the loft). That was disigned for feeling-young-people and cupples And please no children who are not good swimmers. Pool! Or come with the bus and rent a bike here. Transports: Bus Eireann 2x daily from and to Cork. From our gate. • We had an absolutely brillant three nights at Hannes place and cannot recommend this wonderful couple highly enough. They are fabulously welcoming hosts and brilliant at what they do. The cottage was kitted out with absolutely everything we could have needed. The quality of everything from decor to utensils was top notch. The setting and pool are the highlights and we cannot wait to return for more stargazing and coziness. Highly recommended!

  • Wonderful friendly hosts. Very cosy space with everything you need. Within walking distance of the beach.

    Jennifer2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Cute fully equipped 'Tiny House'. Hannes is a great host. Great location near the beach. For the summer there is also a swimming pond, but the weather was too cold. I would like to come back and would also give 6 stars, if it were possible!

  • Beautifully located to escape the hectic everyday life. Hannes and his wife are great hosts and always up for a tip. Absolutely recommended!

  • A great cozy chalet tucked away in the south of Ireland. Easy to get to and a great place to unwind and relax in the peace and quiet the surrounds the area. Hannes is a great host and we highly recommend this place as a go- to if you’re visiting Ireland.

  • Hannes was a great host. This tiny home was a fun place to get away.

  • Hi Hannes, Thank you for making our holidays in West Cork very special. It is always the people that make a lasting impression in all our trips and you are certainly one of them. I am enjoying your homemade smoked mackerel pate and I added fennel fresh from our garden :) Special thanks to Florian for allowing us to join in his fishing escapade. It was so much seeing how the fish we got from the sea ended up on our plates. The smoking machine is so cool. You guys are the best people for gastronomic adventures :) Cheers from Maej & Dave

    Maej2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house is gorgeous, the property is well designed all the way up from the drive and you feel right at home at the top of the hill with the garden and decking and pool. Inside is very cozy, but there is plenty of space for four people to move around comfortably. There is no oven but everything else you could want in the kitchen. The hosts are very friendly and good fun. They were always helpful, knew a lot of places to eat and check out in the area and when we asked for some extra wood for the fire it was waiting for us when we got home. All of our highlights were nearby in the car, schull, barleycove, mizen head, Bantry are all a short drive away and the ballyrisode beach is 10 minutes walk down the road. Beautiful landscape and scenery to drive through. I would recommend this place to any small groups looking for a base in West cork or couples spending some time in the area.

  • Me and my girlfriend stayed a night as we were on a road trip, we had a amazing reception, the treehouse is so cozy that we preferred to stay and bake pizzas and drink wine in instead of going around for food. Also the cleanliness and the view the balcony offers is absolutely stunning. We'll definitely come back and recommend to friends!

    Nichole2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage and great hospitality from Myra. Nice touches. Good spot to explore the Dingle peninsula even in a storm!

    Cindy2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Myra’s Place was exactly what we were hoping for: a quiet, clean, and spacious place. The shower was excellent: lots of hot water in a fairly large bathroom. The roads to it are narrow, but many in Ireland are (at least compared to the US).

Beautifully located large 3 bedroom cabin right on the shore of Kenmare Bay just 2 miles from Kenmare town. Watch the otters, sea birds and wild deer from your deck overlooking the beach. Relax in the outdoor Jacuzzi or inside beside our wood burning stove. Spacious recently renovated home, originally built by my grandparents as a holiday home in the 1950s, successfully adapted for the 21st century!
Originally built by my grandparents in the 1950s, on the property featured in Harry Bewick's 1930s book 'A Wild Taste'. We have endeavored to bring this historical gem into the 21st century.
Quiet secluded cabin right by the sea, with otters and deer (and even the occasional sea eagle!) for company!
  • We had a sensational time at this beautiful Airbnb. Maybe my favourite Airbnb yet. The hottub and view were the obvious attractions that drew us in and the hottub worked perfectly! Miffy and Sam were a dream to deal with. The fire works so well, it kept the house so warm. We had everything we could have needed and more and will definitely be back. Already trying to figure out when! Again, just note that the electricity bill has to be covered separately. It isn't too expensive but just bear in mind to have cash with you to cover that on check out. You definitely won't regret booking this place!

    Aileen2020-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing cabin with some gorgeous views from the deck and hot tub. All the amenities and facilities were as described and the location was remote enough to feel isolated and close enough to everything you would need not to be a hassle!

    Anthony2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in the lodge. It is exactly as described and pictured. Fantastic location you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere but you are 5 minutes from Kenmare. Sam and Miffy are available if you need them but you have total privacy. Our friends had to cancel at the last minute due to Covid 19 and they were so understanding. If you are looking for somewhere to take a break from the world or need somewhere beautiful to self isolate I couldn't recommend it more.

    Tian2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very positive trip from start to finish. Would recommend to friends. Accommodation was fit for purpose. The hot tub was superb and added to the overall experience.

  • We spent 2 nights in this beautiful cabin set in a lovely wood with its own little beach. The only regret we had was that we didn't stay longer. It was equipped with everything we could possibly need. It was a little bit too hot the first night because we didn't control the fire properly, we were too busy chatting. We kept an eye on it the next day. It is lovely and cosy. it feels so remote and peaceful but it is only 5 mins away from Kenmare town. The outdoor jacuzzi if fantastic. Miffy and Sam just couldn't be nicer. We really loved the whole experience and will hopefully be back again during the summer

  • This was our second stay and it was just as great as our first visit! We were a party of seven adults and toddler, and were more than comfortable in the space. The extra touches including travel cot, bedding and high chair were so appreciated. The cabin is sparkling clean, has everything you could need and is in a wonderful location. We loved spending time chilling out and wandering down to the shore to hunt for oysters. Sam greeted us on arrival with tips and are the perfect hosts. Would highly recommend and would love to return again.

Basic refurbished wooden cabin overlooks Oysterhaven. This self contained unit in this peaceful place restores a feeling of nature.
Located in Oysterhaven our wooden cabin hosts magnificent views of the bay. Wake up, open the windows and gaze at the atlantic ocean. Eat breakfast on the decking, read a book by the fire. Many moments of peace to be enjoyed. The unit has a double bed in main bedroom, potential to accommodate a fold up single bed also in living area. WC, shower, small kitchen, camping cooker, fridge, freezer & gas heating.
Oysterhaven is a place of beauty close to nature. It has an active beach during the day with lots of watersports taking place. In the evening it is popular with evening walks across the coast. Please bring warm clothes and rain gear for the weather in winter!
  • Perfect retreat South of Cork. Ann was kind enough to pick me up from Belgooly, and her son dropped me off at the bus stop on the day I left. The views from the cabin are spectacular and the cabin is cosy. Definitely a great stay for a couple or a single traveler. The dog, Sandy, coming to hang out was a perk :)

    Bri2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning location where you can sit on the deck looking out to sea. Cabin itself is basic but clean and comfortable. Ann and her family are warm and welcoming and excellent hosts. Looking forward to our next stay at the Cabin!

    Caroline2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t beat the view from the cabin or cozying up by the fire to read after a day of exploring the area. Ann was a great host and super friendly, and we were also pleased that her sweet dog Sandy gave us a visit one night. Like others have mentioned, Ann gives great directions to the house but it is on a narrow and windy road - best to find it the first time during the day!

    Jessie2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous location, lovely and cosy with the stove lit. Ann was very welcoming and gave us eggs, bread and milk for breakfast. Looking forward to visiting during the summer months when the evenings are longer

    Jacinta2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding location with views that are better than seen on-line. Basic as Ann describes it but it’s so comfortable. First time in a long time we have gone without a TV but it was so worth it, hubby and I actually chatted for hours listening to music, haven’t done much of that and it was lively until we disagreed on what was going to be played next lololol

    Eleanor2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a gem! We spent a couple of nights there. Ann greeted us , and provided local tips for the area. Ann’s dog , Sandy is so sweet...she would greet us in the morning on our way out. We ventured into Kinsale both nights and ate at the Bluehaven. Food was great, service was ok! Our second day was spent at the cliffs of moher, coming back to the cabin was just what we needed. In closing, the cabin is perfect for spending time with your special someone and getting away from the daily routine. Ann provided a memorable experience of Ireland! Hope to be able to come back one day!!!

    Maureen2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is a delightful get-way dream. Picturesque views of the ocean, beach and rolling pastures. A short drive to wonderful Kinsale. We had a memorable stay with Ann.

Beautiful wooden chalet overlooking Bantry Bay on the Sheeps Head. Within 2 miles of the town centre and all its amenities. Designed for people craving an idyllic setting to relax in peace, but close enough to all the attractions Bantry has to offer. We pride ourselves on providing a genuine and thoughtful experience for our guests.
The Cabin is a beautiful, welcoming natural space that is always warm and bright. Situated on the famous walking path; The Goats Path and The Wild Atlantic Way. The cabin is off the main road and enjoys a peaceful and tranquil setting overlooking the sea. It is within two miles of Bantry and one mile from The Westlodge Hotel and Leisure Centre.
Our neighbourhood is so nice and peaceful, we are on the Beach/Dromcloc road which is adjacent to the main road, which means we don't have the traffic of other roads. A ten minute scenic walk in one direction and you arrive at the airstrip with it's breathtaking views and ocean-side walk into town. Whilst going five to ten minutes in the opposite direction you arrive at a secluded seaside beach fed by an ambling river. You couldn't ask for more.
  • The cabin was one of the most beautiful, lovely and peaceful place we have ever stayed in. It was worth each km drove from Dublin... Bean and Irene are really friendly, and the place is still better than we had thought... We will definitely come back!

  • This is a great, quirky, comfortable place to stay. The location is fantastic, with amazing views over the water. It is actually better than the photographs show. Inside is colourful and full of character. Bean and Irene were very welcoming and communication was good. We had a lovely two days exploring locally. Recommend Healy’s Pass for fabulous views.

Our place is off the beaten path near the stunning Wild Atlantic Way route. Secluded and tranquil Mt Kid. 90 minutes from Cork Airport and 2 hours west of Cork city, 15 min fro Ballydehob. Surrounded by working farms on 4 acres; an oasis of trees and home to a variety of bird life. Comfy bed with quality bedding. Mt Kid Cottage is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, families and pets. We don’t do breakfast as such but provide you with some breakfast items.
What makes this place unique is that is the seclusion. We have a four person jacuzzi and infrared (healthy heat!) Sauna for guests to use. No need for bottled water, our well water is extraordinary! The cottage also has 3 heat sources including a wood/coal burning stove which in fact will heat most of the house. You also have use of a washer and dryer. We are on the premises to assist any needs that may arrive. The cottage is ideal for couples or an additional person as there is a sleeper sofa in a contained conservatory downstairs. Children over 7 welcome.
The photos say it all. It is a place of beauty and tranquility and especially appealing for those who want off the beaten path away from it all. Mount kid is the back drop which is easily climbed in 30 minutes for excellent views. No traffic! Forget your water bottle...our well water is live and cold straight from the ground and tastes as water should without chemicals.
  • Absolutely fantastic place to stay, had a wonderful getaway. The hosts were amazing and the place had so much to offer hidden away in rural west Cork

  • The place is the perfect getaway in the middle of gorgeous countyside. The house was clean, warm and cosy. The area upstairs is perfect for chilling out and reading. The best part is the sauna and hot tub. Patty and Chris are lovely hosts- helpful warm and friendly. They went the extra mile to look after us and make our stay so special. Chris even made us sausage rolls when we came back from a walk. Highly recommend this place. We'll be back!

  • Lovely little romantic retreat in a beautiful remote location in West Cork. Fantastic hosts!

    Thomas2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was so much beyond our expectation that I would recommend to all. A beautiful location - So isolated and beautiful in the wilderness of west Cork with magnificent facilities! The jacuzzi was readied for us on arrival and our whole experience from then was beyond expectation!

    Mícheál2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fantastic trip, this is a real gem tucked away in rural Ballydehob! The scenery was honestly breathtaking and peace and quiet there was just so special! The weather wasn't great during our stay which gave us all the more reason to utilise the beautiful space cooking and doing yoga and reading! Honestly the nicest stay I've had in Ireland so far! Host so kind and helpful! We ventured into Schull and Skibb markets and had amazing food and coffee! Couldn't recommend enough! Hopefully we will be back!

    Eva2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for an amazing place. We had an awesome weekend, relaxing and enjoying the sauna and jacuzzi. Cant wait to go back.

  • The Tiny House will not disappoint any one looking for a farmhouse Irish experience. The little touches of the house were clearly done with much love for the home and land. Patti & Chris are so welcoming and generous. I would recommend their home to anyone and we will certainly be going back!

    Carrie2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is absolutely the best stay and the best experience you will get! It was beyond our expectations. We came to escape the City life and it was exactly what we needed. Will defiantly go back and for sure recommend this stay. Chris and Patricia are simply the best hosted I have ever experienced. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome in your lovely home.

The Long Barn is an old stone whitewashed barn. It has private entrance and outside space, set in tranquil, leafy and secluded gardens near the end of a long, quiet country lane leading, in a few minutes amble, to a safe and secluded beach. The ambience of the barn is comfort, with cotton sheets, feather pillows and duvets, roaring log fires and comfy chairs. If you like quirky old buildings, with oak beams and thumb-latch doors, rather than a faceless hotel room, then you'll like this place.
Renowned as an artistic retreat, the headland of Reen must be one of the most tranquil spots in Europe, let alone Ireland. You might possibly hear a fishing boat chugging the old trawling grounds off the coast. Otherwise your aural landscape is likely to be limited to birdsong, the wind in the leaves, and the distant crash of surf. It is a remote spot, well off the beaten track, about seven minutes drive to the nearest village. We aim to provide a quiet and peaceful place, an ideal spot for relaxation, unwinding, de-stressing and generally taking a time-out from the frantic pace of modern life.
On The Wild Atlantic Way, Reen headland sits between Glandore and Castlehaven harbours, ideally placed for all sailing, whale watching, sea kayaking and simple swimming (and paddling!) activities. Catch crabs off the pier. Walk in Rineen Woods and see the Fairy Houses. Come to the many festivals, The West Cork Food Festival, the Guitar Festival, the Jazz Festival, to name but a few.
  • We loved this place. It's about as remote as one can get, and still feels private even though there are properties adjacent. I enjoyed waking to chickens scratching in the morning, the dogs wandering around and the warm welcome. All of the scenery nearby was special - our favourite was Rinneen woods. We will definitely be back here during the summer.

  • We stayed two nights in the long barn. It was exactly what we were after and more. Remote location, 2 minute stroll from a lovely sheltered inlet and 5 minute drive from beautiful Irish village life. Lovely host. Nice and friendly and had left us some freshly baked soda bread and free range eggs to welcome us. A lovely touch. We were there with our 5 year old son and the cottage is perfectly equipped. Good WiFi, a chest of games for the smallies, DVD’s, Netflix on the tv. Just perfect for us. The kitchen had everything you’d need to cook a family meal and the place is spotless. Great shower and comfy beds. Highly recommend it for a quite getaway like we had or a great base to explore the wild Atlantic way.

    SarahJane2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation of Richard and his family is very pleasant. Located in peace and in full nature, a pebble beach is at the end of the dead end and promises good times. The accommodation is clean and offers all the necessary amenities. We enjoyed the DVDs in the small library ... Richard is welcoming. Perfect !

    Benoît2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Quaint little cottage in a beautiful rural setting. Few minute’s walk to a small beach, chickens and dogs outside, and lots of peace and quiet. Cozy with the heat on or, for a more rustic experience, the wood burning stove gives good heat and atmosphere. We had a great time. (2 adults, 2 kids under 6).

  • Fabulous gem of a place. Loved staying in the long barn, loved the hens in the morning and our daily visits from Coco and Bailey!

    Deirdre2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Jo was a wonderful host and welcomed us very warmly. The area was lovely and Toby enjoyed the small little nearby beach for running around before bed. We were left fresh eggs from the sweet hens as well as bread, milk, butter, tea and coffee. We had delicious scrambles eggs for breakfast. Thanks again Jo, we would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful stay in a clean, warm home.

    Paul2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time, everything was perfect. We loved the location, the space, the area and our hosts were extremely thoughtful---we only wished we could have stayed longer! Easy communication regarding directions and arrival and a helpful printed document about the long barn itself. Very pleased with everything, many thanks!

I restored this cottage from 2003 with love and every ounce of my soul has been poured into bringing it to a cosy retreat perfect for two or a small family or 4 close friends. Take time to Hike, Bike, Read, Write, Draw, Think, Play, Live &make Love. There is a large extension which is another house which can be rented separately or together if you have a larger group. Thick stone walls means there is excellent sound proofing. You would not notice the guests next door unless you meet them.
Hello there, If you love amazing views of the sea in front and the peace and quiet of the countryside, then this place is for you. Sleeps one or 2 couples comfortably.(there are 2 bedrooms with a double bed in each. there is also a single bed in the bigger bedroom. I have a fold out couch downstairs. 4 people can be accommodated but then again how close of friends are you? My cottage really suits people who love the country cottage feel and relaxed atmosphere, if you love monotone hotels and convenience to towns/shops/arcades this is not for you. The entertainment on offer can be having a cuppa while watching the two baby bunnies playing in my wild garden and somehow avoiding my visiting fox who almost daily pops by.....also we two great local pubs with friendly people and good cheer....also one does really good food. This is a cottage rental rather than a bed and breakfast. Some dried foods I leave you just in case you arrive and have forgotten to get shopping, even thou Short and long term rentals are possible, small or large groups, just ask and I shall see if I can make it possible for your situation. It's a quiet neighbourhood, occasional tractor factor, rabbits, foxes, migrating swallows....you get the picture....relaxation, views, perfect for relaxing get aways. My cottage is about 100 plus years old. It is open plan down stairs with kitchen diner one side and sitting room with stove. It has two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. I restored it and lived in it since (URL HIDDEN) had been derelict with roof falling in no windows or doors so it has been a labour of love and now I happy to rent it to people who will enjoy it and have a great experience on the penninsula. I built on and I live in the "West Wing" mostly although I often live with my boyfriend but sometimes I have a weekend of R and R in my cottage where I read books and invite friends over and have tea in front of the fire and play scrabble.... There is something magical about it....everybody loves the cosy feeling. I prefer to only accept minimum of 3 nights bookings. It is a lovely penninsula and I'm sure you won't regret 3 nights staying here. I can offer a variety of accommodation as in if it's a larger group you can have the "West Wing" which has another 2 bedrooms and bathrooms and dance/yoga floor. I can put in a futon or pull out couch in the cottage just ask and see if I can sort out your situation. I am in the middle of nowhere but there's nowhere else I'd rather be having been around the world I've come home to Ahakista. 1 hr 45 mins drive from Cork city/airport, 17 km from bantry town, no bus services to Ahakista . No trains down here etc. You need a car and a Sat Nav or a map and a good sense of adventure and an ability to ask for directions. It's beautiful and is perfect for folk who like hill walking and going off for picnics or lunches out and drives to ring of Kerry and the five penninsulas. Perfect base to go explore from. Thanks for checking out my profile I'm now almost 3 years being a member of Airbnb and really excited by the concept of making the global community welcome in my home . I backpacked around the world for 2 years and wish this concept was available back then. I used to wander into villages and ask to be hosted for a fee, I do believe that it enriched my experiences greatly. I will guide you/give directions/ advice if you want or leave to discover by yourselves as you wish. The original cottage is over 100 years old and I have retained as much of the original features. I've got underfloor heating (winter time) and a lovely stove which is not only good for atmosphere but it's cosy in the not so balmy evenings. Wooden floors, rustic feel, open plan kitchen diner/ sitting room. If it's a wet weekend and you can't get out and about walking! You could paint, draw, read, write, cuddle up on the couch in front of the fire. I like to play board games and have a large selection and books/dvds/music. There is also the local bars which can be really lovely with open fires and live music or sitting out and having a BBQ watching the sun setting over the bay. Food: Restaurants/café/bars with food in the area, information pack/maps/guide books/walking maps etc. available in the house. Hope to see you here. Sheila
Peaceful countryside with panoramic views of rolling hills hugging the valley of a patchwork of forty shades of green. A close knit community of people who have grown up together and look out for each other. If you ever wanted to find an idyllic life this is the place to live. I wish I was there more often.
  • True Wild Atlantic experience! Wonderful place. :)

  • Two of us stayed at Sheila's place for three nights. We had a real great time. The house waa perfect for us, cozy and warm with a fireplace and lovely kitchen. We didn't even feel the storm Brendan while hiding behind thick walls of this house. The location is amazing, so much to do nearby. We had lovely chats with Sheila and got lots of tips for the best ways to explore the beautiful Sheeps head and nearby area. Definitely will be back!

  • What a delightful place to stay! This is a really gorgeous home in a very special location. We were lucky enough to snuggle by the fire listening to the rain one day, but also get out and about exploring the beautiful Sheep’s Head peninsula too. Sheila is a great host and we really felt lucky to stay in such a nice place.

  • Niall's place is uniquely set in a stunning backdrop of coastal rural Cork. Even friends who live near were impressed.

  • Had an amazing experience at No. 1 Wild Atlantic Way. Niall is a lovely host who was really welcoming and provided loads of local knowledge for the few short days i spent there. The accomodation itself is small but has everything you need. It was extremely clean and modern, and there was some lovely small touches for our stay. The Old Head has breathtaking views and i would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for some seclusion from everyday life!

This snug, grass-roofed cabin offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy a warm Irish welcome, mountain walks on the Beara Way or snorkling on nearby reefs. Sample local cheeses, lamb, fish and seafood or stoke up the wood-burning stove, have a glass of wine and and savour the tranquility!
This remote and peaceful location offers an opportunity to unwind, enjoy an unspoiled and breath-takingly beautiful environment and recharge your batteries! There is a comfy double bed (197cm x 154cm / 6ft 5.5in x 5ft), a pull out sofa bed in the living area, and a child-sized floor bed or baby cot on request, so we can comfortably accommodate accommodate solo travellers, couples, 2-3 friends and small families. Ten minutes walk will take you to a local swimming spot, fishing point, pre-Christian archaeological remains, picturesque ruins or cliff views. You may see seals, dolphins, diving gannets or, if you are lucky, the local otters. It is an ideal place to kick back and relax. In bad weather you can just sway in the hammock seat in front of the fire, listen to music and daydream... If you fancy a dip we can lend you wet suits, snorkel masks, goggles and flippers and show you some lovely accessible swimming spots where you can take the plunge. It's so close that we provide dressing gowns and plastic shoes so you can just go down in your swim suit, dry off afterwards and pop back to the cabin for a hot shower. Whether you are into a gentle ramble, walk or hike, we can recommend nearby hill and coastal walks and signposted loop routes on the adjacent Beara Way. There are even hats and scarves and jackets to borrow if you didn't come prepared, as well as wellington boots of various sizes. If the weather isn't in your favour or you prefer to lounge around we have a library of books, cds, radio, cards and games to keep you amused in front of the fire. Clear nights are great for star-gazing and the area has very little light pollution. We are avid foodies, and can recommend where you can get the best local free range hen and duck eggs, fish, seafood, lamb and local Mileens Cheese directly from the cheesemakers, as well as shops where you can find organic, wholefoods and vegetarian or vegan fare. Fear not if you are a coffee-drinker, as there is a cafetiere (French press). The kitchen is very well equipped, with full-sized oven, grill, stove, toaster and hand blender. You should be able to cook anything you want and if you need anything we can probably lend it to you. There are 'Arrival/Survival' Supplies for your convenience (some tea, coffee, sugar, condiments (oil, vinegar etc), herbs and spices). Nearest shops are about a ten minute drive away. If you prefer to eat out we can direct you to a range of cafes and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket. Most are a ten or twenty minute drive away. We are on the Wild Atlantic Way, the Beara Way Waking Route, the Ring of Beara, the Beara Cycling Route and near some designated Shore Fishing Points. There are Art Galleries, a Sculpture Garden and a Tibetan Buddhist Retreat Centre within a 30 minute drive. Guided meditation is available at the centre daily. The area is famous for its neolithic, megalithic and Bronze Age sites, such as Stone Circles, Ogham Stones, Dolmens, Wedge Tombs, Ring Forts and Souterrains and your host be hired to take you on a guided tour (half or full day) by pre-arrangement. If you prefer to go it alone, Kilcatherine's fifth century Graveyard with its pre-christian 'cat's head' and the famous 'Hag of Beara' are only about 10-15 minutes stroll away. Lessons in conversational English (as a second language) can also be arranged at any level as your host is a qualified ESOL teacher. Introduction to Irish (Gaelic) is also possible for those interested.
The wild and rugged landscape, spectacular, star-studded night sky and beautiful sunsets need to be seen to be believed. West Cork is truly a place apart. You can sample local delicacies such as Mileens cheese, water buffalo burgers, free-range hen and duck eggs and pork sausages and the nearby town, Castletownbere, is Ireland's biggest white-fishing port. There are regular music and set-dancing sessions at local pubs and there are art galleries and even a sculpture garden to visit. There is a ferry to Bere Island and Dursey Island, at the tip of the Beara Peninsula boasts Ireland's only Cable Car. But sometimes mooching around and exploring the teeming wildlife on the shoreline and in the rockpools is enough to keep you going. Your hosts can tell you more and you can look at our visitor's book for ideas on things to see and do.
  • Beautiful location to base yourself for exploring west cork. Cozy cabin with everything you need. Some lovely walks to do around the area. Amazing host!

  • Incredible hidden gem! One of the best places I’ve stayed ever, a must-do even for just a week in Ireland! Anne gave great recommendations, we played badminton with her and her son, the cabin is so perfect, refreshing, serene, and the peninsula is insanely beautiful! Could not recommend this stay more highly.

    Bailey2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • The creative cabin is one of the most beautiful and coziest AirBnb we have been to. Anne was really heartwarming and gave us good advice for our stay in Ireland. She showed us the nice beach and the nice area while walking with her dog. We were thinking about cancelling all our plans for our trip to stay longer in the cabin, because we really felt like home. We can fully recommend this AirBnb for everybody who wants to have an eco-friendly and cozy stay in the south of Ireland. Thanks for everything, we will definitely come back again!

    Laura2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The whole stay at Annes is one terrific experience. From the beautiful landscape to the wonderful cabin, this is a place where one can find peace and comfort. Perfect for everyone who wants to relax and wants to have the option to explore Irelands scenic coast. I recommend this AirBnB 100 percent.

    Christoph2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The creativity cabin is just what the doctor ordered. The perfect place to getaway and explore west Cork. We love to cook and the cabin had everything we needed to make dinner and even bake, a huge bonus was being able to make fresh bread in the retro gas oven. The cabin itself is fantastic. It feels like home the moment you walk in. Cosy, with a wood stove and plenty of wood to keep it burning. It has a huge window facing the Atlantic Ocean that gives you great panoramic views of the waves crashing against the shoreline. Anne has really thought of everything in the Cabin and there really wasn’t a single thing that she hadn’t thought of to help make our stay a wonderful experience. As for West Cork, It’s just beautiful. We spent most of the time outdoors walking in the hills and around the coast on the Beara Peninsula. We’d love to head back in the summer time and try some of the local swimming spots when the waves aren’t so huge!

    Dave2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most fantastic short trip of my life! Everything was perfect! Including wonderful surprise for my birthday. I will come back for sure. Thank you, Anne! You are a great host!

    Eva2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Beara Peninsula is a magical place and this little cabin by the sea is the perfect adventure base. The creativity cabin is an absolute delight. Unobstructed ocean views, a cozy fire, a hammock, welcoming hosts... it’s just wonderful. You’ll have a hard time leaving!

    Siolo2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Anne’s place is the ideal base from which to experience this beautiful part of Ireland. You’ll be in touch with nature, feel cosy by the fireplace and be inspired to cook local produce in her great kitchen...

Converted Barn, set on a coastal farm. Wonderful sea views and access to a number of beaches and fishing spots.
Converted barn on working farm. Large 20-acre vista on coastal setting with panoramic sea views. Quiet beaches just a stone’s throw away. The property sits in a secluded location with plants and trees teaming the surrounding. You will find hens roaming the gardens. This property suits an escape from the hustle and bustle - take long walks or retreat to the comforts of the barn. Food mecca Midleton is the nearest town, just 10 mins’ drive away, with shops, excellent restaurants and, of course, the world-renowned Old Midleton Distillery, which boasts the world's largest pot and produces world-famous Jameson and Midleton rare whiskey. It’s also just a 15-minute drive to Ballymaloe House, the renowned Irish country house hotel and restaurant owned and run by the Allen family for over 40 years. The Barn also has access to great rock fishing. Inch Beach (where swell surf is located) and Ballybrannigan strands are minutes away.
Set on a farm 21 miles from Cork city, quite real location. There is no nearby shop so stock up en route, lots of farmers markets on locally.
  • Words can not describe how wonderful this place is (but I'll try). Upon walking in, it immediately feels like home! The decor is to die for, such a well used space and it has everything you need for a weekend away disconnected from the world and it's busy' ness. We arrived to receive Kenneth's signature freshly baked brown bread and 6 fresh eggs from the chickens next door who playfully spend their time pecking around the garden on the grounds and coming to say hello whenever you venture outside. The house was spotless and equipped with everything you need to cook, bake, relax, and get into a good book in the middle of nowhere. When you do want to go somewhere it's only 5 minutes away from the beach and has many walkways around the property for you to create your own countryside adventure. If the weather is good you can go to the beach maybe even for a swim, if it's raining outside you can light the fire, cosy up on the comfiest couch I've ever experienced and dip into an impressively large DVD collection. The beds are like clouds and the bathroom floor is even heated so no matter what you're doing you are in constant comfort here. I can't recommend this place enough for any countryside weekend getaway. Kenneth was so helpful and accomodating. We felt very lucky about this find and will most likely go back to stay again in the future!

  • Great stay! Would love to stay in the coastal studio located on the grounds at some stage during the year! Really good place to chill out, loved the country feel to it, had great character 👍🏻

  • Kenneth is both a wonderful person and an amazing host. The restored Barn was comfortable and cozy. He was attentive to all of our needs and made sure we had nothing to worry about during our stay. If your looking for a quiet hide away in the country Kenneth has you covered.

    Lynda2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous place. Kenneth was very personable and made himself available should we have needed him. His two dogs are also a delight. The converted barn is delicious and cosy- all you need is there, it’s full of lovely furniture and surrounded by beautiful scenery. Very warm (we traveled in winter), comfy beds, and a generous package of eggs, bread, wine and coffee on arrival. A lovely place to stay.

  • Peace, quiet, beautiful views, no light pollution, and waking to the sound of birdsong. Perfect. Just a very short drive to Bantry which is also lovely. Wood burning stoves in the evening added to the wonderful feeling of staying within a rural idyll. Good value and a very friendly, helpful host.

  • Lovely old style house about 5-10 mins outside Bantry. Some firing on arrival, Bring firing if you plan to stay a few days the stoves make it homely and warm! Great for a peaceful break and plenty nearby - Sheep’s head walk is great. Jerome was very helpful and quick to reply to any queries. Balcony is great for a cuppa in the morning or as the sun goes down (if your lucky enough to have good weather).

  • This was without the doubt one of our favourite places to stay. We had three great evenings here, and we had some time to explore surrounding area. Jerome gave us important tips about the local attractions and good restaurants to visit which was much appreciated. House was located in beautiful countryside and decorative details around the house that have made place feel unique and special. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

    Ana2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very cozy with a fireplace in the living room and a lot of places to chill. The location is great to explore the nature around the area and just a 15 minute drive to Bantry. Would always come here again.

    Judith2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is fabulous. We arrived during storm Dennis in Feb 2020 to lovely cosy log burners waiting for us. It was a perfect base to explore South West Ireland, just 5 minutes into Bantry, with pubs, restaurants, shops & a decent sized Lidl giving us everything we needed. Beds were comfortable, lots of room to spread out as a family downstairs. Jerome quickly responded to any queries & provided plenty of wood to keep us warm for the week. The cottage was very clean & tidy & the WiFi worked well. Very little phone coverage (which was great) I would highly recommend this cottage, Jerome & the West coast of Ireland to anyone wanting a real break from it all. The 18 inch thick walls of the cottage kept all the wind & rain out too.

    Carol2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay in idyllic farm cottage in easy distance from the lovely town of Bantry. Very spacious and cosy in the evenings with the wood burner. We had a fantastic time.

    Emma2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

Comfortable and traditional 150 year old country cottage with Irish stone front.
The house itself is over 150 years old but was purchased 9 years ago and renovated by myself with most items of furniture hand crafted to maintain that authentic country cottage feel. The stone seen at the front of the cottage comes from a family quarry in Valentia Island, Co. Kerry. Most other materials used in renovation the cottage were reclaimed and sourced locally. The cottage is on a old farm with traditional outhouses and on 1.5 acres with apple and chestnut trees. There is a large chestnut tree with potbelly stove, swing and seating ideal for summertime relaxation and gatherings.
Beach walks , rivers , woods for walking, hiking trails etc
  • Michaels comfy cottage is such a lovely location that we'll definitely be back to. As all the handwritten notes attest to in the visitor book, it is truly a home away from home that we didn't want to leave. The only reason we wouldn't tell others about this air b&b is because we want it to be our well kept secret... ...but we weren't able to stop raving about it to all our family and friends!

    Stephen2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my boyfriend stayed here as we were going to a wedding in Castlemartyr. The place looked lovely in the photos but due to the amazing price, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We had the most wonderful time here though, Michael was just amazing and so welcoming. The house was gorgeous and we had a roaring fire waiting for us when we arrived. Looking forward to coming back again. Thanks so much Michael!

    Sam2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent host , beautiful house and nothing was a problem to Michael.

  • Beautiful cottage with huge fire, perfect romantic spot for weekend away. Short drive to the beach for morning walks. Warm and cosy but spacious with lots of charm. Everything you need and more, will certainly be back again next year.

  • Cosy, rustic cottage with great ambiance. Great location in the countryside but with a superb internet connection which is a must for many.

    William2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great country cottage with everything you could need. Michael was an absolute wonderful host with lots of kind & thoughtful touches. We loved our stay!

    Lynda2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a great location to stay in southern Ireland. The real wood stove was WONDERFUL and the bedroom was decorated sooo lovely. The fresh eggs were a great touch and very much appreciated as well as the text letting us know when mass was at a few of the local churches after we had expressed interest in going. Youghal is a lovely town and your community pride and love of the area really shown through. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful country stay, my only suggestion for someone staying here is to bring a pair of warm fuzzy socks to wear in the mornings.

    Melanie2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Michael’s home is absolutely beautiful and cozy. Everything from the fire going in the fires place on arrival to fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning was pure hospitality. My husband and I loved our stay!

DIY catering and BBQ facilities are available for guests. Pods are fitted with carpet floors. Each Pod can be booked separately. The medium pod sleeps 4, and the larger sleeps 6. There is NO electricity or BEDS in both pods. Sleeping bags are required. On return from a day in the mountains come into the Tea Rooms for soup or hot chocolate and a nice hot shower and sit by the open fire. Pods are very spacious, waterproof, and windproof. Bathroom and shower facilities (showers work on a meter) are available in the main yard, alongside the private car park. Pods are priced at €15 per guest. • Great spot to hike from.

  • Snug camping pods in a beautiful area. Nice and clean.

    Hattie2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • John, welcomed us despite being the middle of the night, helped us find the pod, he was very patient. The pod is really nice, it allows you a camping experience but with the comfort of an apartment. Beautiful!

    Ilaria2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really fast communication helped me find the place much easier. The location was amazing with breathtaking views. Hospitality was comforting with options for lots of food in the common area. The Pod was exactly what I expected and needed.

    Mags2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay! The pods are very well insulated, we did not have sleeping bags but the host kindly lent us. John is very friendly and welcoming, and there is everything you need in the main building (shower, toilet, kitchen and even a 'snack' with coffee and pastries). We hiked to the lake at dawn the next day, the scenery is beautiful and the calm is very appreciable. A real good surprise!

  • Nestled in the foothills of the mountains this place is as scenic as you could want. Met lots of lovely people there to tackle the mountain as well. The tea rooms, showers and accommodation are all fantastic...you will really enjoy the amazing home baking and warm atmosphere when you come down off the mountain. Showers and amenities are great just remember to bring lots of euro coins for the shower and no cash machine so take cash with you. I will definitely be back to use again in the future. Big thank you to the hosts.

  • Not for those looking for 5 star hotel accommodation. But if like us, you're a happy camper and hiker, you will be more than satisified to have a comfortable pod to sleep in after a challenging day's hiking, and to be warm and dry in spite of the elements swirling around you!

    Oreena2019-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Had a memorable trip to Cronins Yard and found the Pod comfortable and a great way to enjoy camping and get plenty of sleep. Found staff to be very hospitable and facilitites ideal. On a walking route to a lake which is at the foot of Carrauntoohill so perfect for families with young kids.

  • Everything was just perfect. Stunning location, beautiful property and wonderful facilities. We loved every minute and Mairead is a lovely host, nothing was too much trouble.

  • Skellig Rest is a lovely house in the most beautiful location. The views are stunning and on a clear night the sky was just incredible. Myself and my partner stayed for a week over new year. The house is well equipped, we cooked most evenings and the log burner makes the lounge lovely and toasty. Good WiFi and phone signal. Waterville is a ten minute drive away for supermarkets and wood supplies. Highly recommend a drive to Killarney National Park - took us about 1hr 30 mins. Thanks to Mairead for a cosy and enjoyable stay, hope to visit again one day.

  • Mairead’s home is the perfect place to stay along the Ring of Kerry. Close to everything - 10 mins from two towns but feels totally secluded. The views from the cottage and the hot tub were AMAZING. I cannot possibly overstate how beautiful the view was. The transaction re: heat and power was very easy, and Mairead was so helpful explaining how things worked for us when we first arrived. If you want an authentic, relaxing experience in the Irish country - this is the place for you.

    Catherine2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mairead’s home is everything you could ask for out of an Airbnb, especially if you’re traveling to Ireland/ring of Kerry from another country. Perfectly contemporary whilst having strong roots to the land it’s built on. The level of comfort and consideration paired with the natural beauty/multi generational aspect of this home is downright intoxicating. Nothing but good things to say about this place. Will definitely be staying here once again next time I make it out to Ireland. Thanks again for everything Mairead!

    Waterville, County Kerry, Ireland

Tucked into the hillside beneath the mighty Macgillycuddy Reeks, in Alohart just twenty minutes drive from Killarney, White Cottage Barn is the perfect mountain retreat for hill walkers, countryside lovers and seekers of peace and quiet, and a great base from which to explore this beautiful part of Ireland. Close to Beaufort, the Gap of Dunloe, Carrauntoohil and the popular Ring of Kerry. Perfect for couples or the solo traveller, but can accommodate a third person by use of the sofa bed.
Your private front door leads into a tiled utility area with washing machine, space for coats and boots, and plenty of storage for clothes. The compact shower room with large shower cubicle, toilet and basin is also in this area. Towels supplied. A semi glazed door leads into the main living area which is bright and modern, cosy and quirky. A fully equipped kitchen occupies one corner, with everything you need whether you're microwaving a ready meal or cooking a full roast dinner. A table and chairs provide a pleasant place to eat. The woodburner keeps the Barn warm and snug (logs, kindling and firelighters are all provided). A comfortable sofa bed and TV complete this space. A selection of books, DVDs and games are also provided for wet or lazy days. Patio doors look out onto part of MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, and the window has a pleasant view of Strickeen mountain. The sleeping mezzanine is reached via custom built stairs. Please note that these stairs are much like a ladder, steep and therefore not suitable for anyone with mobility issues - the sofa bed can be used in this instance. The mezzanine is equipped with double bed, bedside tables and lighting. It has low headroom (you can't stand up) but enough to sit up in bed and enjoy a cosy cuppa! Patio doors open onto a small, private patio with picnic bench for warm days. Grassed areas, trees and shrubs are complemented by a tumbledown stone outbuilding, and stone steps lead up to the lane behind the Barn, your own private gateway to the surrounding countryside and mountains.
White Cottage Barn is the last but one property up a winding mountain road in a very quiet area, but has a small food store just four minutes drive away, and within ten minutes' drive you will find three bars in the village of Beaufort, and the famous Kate Kearney's Cottage (bar and restaurant with live music in season) on the road to the Gap of Dunloe. Killarney with its beautiful national park and lakes are within twenty minutes' drive. Killarney and Killorglin are lovely nearby towns with excellent shops and a variety of places to eat. But you don't even have to get in the car to enjoy the stunning surroundings. From your front door you can wander out into the verdant green fields behind the barn, criss-crossed with ancient mossy walls and gnarly trees. Alternatively, walk up the lane and through a gate and you are on the fells beneath the craggy heights of Cruach Mhor and the Big Gun Ridge. Forty minutes of wild hiking will take you to two little lakes hidden away in a valley beneath Cnoc an Bhraca, or take a picnic and find a place to sit by the tumbling mountain streams and waterfalls. This area is off the beaten track, so you are likely to have it all to yourselves. Apart from the sheep and mountain hares!
  • Such a beautiful and peaceful stay! Both Tess&Steve are lovely and provided us everything we may need. We can not wait to come back here again soon!!

    Berfug2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Tessa are incredible hosts- there are some very thoughtful touches in the house and they provide a wealth of info about the area through literature in the house and themselves. Even more special, was their helpful note about baby lambs in the farm next door which we were besotted with :) When next we are in the area, will most certainly be staying again.

    Claire2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you're still thinking whether to book Steve and Tessa’s place or not, think no more. Everything was amazing, one of the best AirBnB experience we had so far. Steve and his friend were the only people who helped us when we stuck in the mud with our rented car. Our car provider in the same time advised us to call fire brigade instead of any help. Steve and Tessa are amazing as well as their place, you'll not be disappointed.

    Sergey2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little place that has amazing views and is set in such a picturesque area. Steve and Tessa were wonderful hosts and really able to help us settle and show us some great gems in the area. Such a quiet and peaceful place located surprisingly close to lots of towns so there is so much to see and do! Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away for a bit but still have the option to see and do so much!

    Michael2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt we would come and stay here again and again. I will save everyone from having to read the same positive reviews. I'm assuring you if you stay at White Cottage Barn your trip to Killarney will be peaceful, relaxing and full of Ireland's finest country. Tessa and Steve have the most positive, warm energy. The cottage is incredibly clean, it's stocked with everything you need without feeling cluttered or overwhelmed. The suggestions on local pubs, restaurants and attractions are spot on and the countryside, cottage views and location to nature a pure dream. Our trip around Ireland ended here and I'm glad it did or I would have wished for such an experience the whole time.

    Stephanie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I strongly recommend a stay at the cottage. Between nights in cities like Galway and Dublin, a getaway at the cottage is relaxing and peaceful! It is clean and even more beautiful than the pictures! We recommend a visit of the amazing Gap of Dunloe and walks around Killarney National park (don’t miss Muckross abbey). Then, come back at the cottage and have a drink by the warming fireplace!

    Katherine2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were warmly welcomed by Tessa and Steve's reception. Communication and check-in worked smoothly. The accommodation is equipped with everything important and furnished with love. The house is located quite apart in the mountains. Simply wonderful there.

Hello, My cottage is suitable for people that want to enjoy the peace and quite of the country side but not completely isolated as it is quite close to the picturesque villages of Schull and Ballydehob. kitchen and living space are open plan with three bedrooms adjacent.
My cottage is unique because it has panoramic views of all of roaring water bay which includes the islands of Cape Clear, Sherkin, Castle and Horse island to name a few. it also gives guests the unique view of the atlantic ocean in its calmest and its wildest days with huge waves breaking over the fastnet rock to the western end of Cape Clear. This cottage comfortably fits 6 people can accommodate more if needs be.
  • My partner and I stayed at Michael’s cottage for 2 nights. It’s in a great location, feels completely secluded, but there’s a few pubs not too far away! The house was clean and spacious, with an excellent kitchen to cook in. The view was stunning as well. It was perfect for a relaxing weekend!

  • Corr an Droma is a spacious, spotless house in a perfect location. Michael is indeed a super host. I enjoyed my stay immensely and will be returning later this year I enjoyed the peace and quiet/ isolation so much. Having said that, the nearest town, Schull is 5 minutes down the road. Excellent.

    Leon2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was lovely, very spacious and perfect for a family. It's a remodeled old stone coastal home so it has the best of the old and new. Very charming and in a beautiful area of County Cork, Ireland. Michael was also very helpful in offering tips on the area.

    Gia2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is spacious and accommodated two couples comfortably. The kitchen was well equipped for eating in. The stunning location and peace and quiet were perfect for a relaxing two night break.

    Don2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a grand “cottage”! It’s a large space with one large downstairs bedroom (with small en-suite) + a big open space kitchen, dining and lounge room -which has a cosy fireplace. There is a separate playroom/bedroom for the kids as well. Upstairs there are two more good sized bedrooms + separate toilet and bathroom (with separate shower and large bath). The kitchen is well outfitted and perfect for self catering. There is a large outdoor entertaining area which we did not use because it was mid-winter. The view from the cottage over the Celtic Sea is simply amazing! We had incredible sunrises day after day. Simply magic! Michael is a wonderful host. Very helpful and attends very quickly to any questions - yet he provides you with the privacy you want. Great balance. Highly recommended for a family stay, writing retreat or if you plan to drive or walk parts of the Wild Atlantic Way.

  • Michaels home was amazing. The views are very Irish! Check in was easy and the home was fantastic, we all had a great sleep and loved waking up in beautiful West Cork. Thanks again Michael!

  • A very nice house, spacious and pleasant, where nothing was missing, a little difficult to find, especially after dark, but the host, very nice person, guided us

    Thierry2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Best view ever. The cottage is perched on a hilltop with no one around, with the most magnificent views of the islands and bays.
