  • What a time to escape the pace of life and renew in the simplicity of pure and authentic Ireland. Our family enjoyed staying at the farm. Moments snuggled in blankets and sipping tea while reading together while it rained outside, roast chicken in the oven and newborn calves next door in the barn were some of the most beautiful memories of our time in Ireland. Declan, thank you for sharing your wonderful life with our children, they were so excited to learn about raising dairy cows and our youngest is looking forward to having her own milk cow. Someday. Thank you for sharing your home with our family!

The cabin is new and handcrafted with a modern twist. There's a lot of things to see and do. There's pubs, shops, chippers, hair & beauty, post office, doctor & chemist. Blarney (25 min), Killarney (55 min), Kinsale (40 min), lee Valley Aquapark (5 min), Farrenwoods National Park (5 min) great for picnics and walks, Rowing Centre (5 min), Angling Centre (5 min), 18 Hole Golf Course (10 min), Cinema (20 min). There's also lovely walks alongside the river.
One of the very few log cabins in Ireland that gives guest the opportunity to stay in.
Situated in a quite village, very friendly neighbors and great community spirit.
  • Very comfortable and warm, and the hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful. Kitchen contents varies a bit from cabin to cabin, so if you plan to cook, ask before you arrive if there will be a frying pan, sieve/colander and chopping board so you know whether to bring one. We had a lovely stay and will likely return at some point. Thanks so much Aidan and Eileen!

  • Cosy little cabin with all the amenities and right in the centre of Coachford. Eileen and Aidan were lovely hosts and helped me with every small request. They made sure the cabin was warm when I returned home after a long day! I highly recommend.

  • Absolute winner. Its a great peaceful place with lovely people. The house is tidy and you have everything you need closeby.

  • Lovely cabin and host! We were greeted as soon as we arrived to make sure we were comfortable and see if there was anything we needed. We had a rental car and found it to be the perfect location to easily travel around. We visited Kinsale, Blarney and Cork, all under an hour drive from the cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and offered a calm and peaceful break for us in the middle of our trip.

    Lauren2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very solid accommodation in Coachford, and self-contained in the true sense of the word. I stayed for two nights and the location was perfect for me. Communication with Aidan was a breeze, and finding the place was very straightforward. The cabin was warm and quite cute inside. Would definitely recommend, particularly for a single or couple.

    Richard2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed in one of these lovely cabins for a week, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Spotless, comfortable and quiet. All facilities provided. One can come and go at any time of the day. So many extra facilities are available within minutes walking distance.Pleasant pub, supermarket, and even a great breakfast, nearby. The proprietor was pleasant and caring. Internet available, might have been a little better.Only 15 miles from Cork. Safe parking was no problem. I loved my stay.

  • Aidans place is great couldn't of ask for more. Beautiful cabins with everything you could want in them. I will definitely go back and can highly recommend adians cabins for a break away. Adian and his family are so warm and welcoming, and lots do see and do around the area itself.

    Amanda2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I wanted to stay at Aidan's cabin but the dates we wanted to use didn't end up working out. Aidan was great in helping us cancel and refund our reservation on a last minute basis, within the same day. He is great with communication and making sure both parties are happy in a situation like this. Thanks again Aidan!

Our property is a luxury glamping experience set in a peaceful rustic rural space. The glamping area is a large, very bright studio with unique wooden features and wood burning stove for cosiness. Very comfortable relaxing and quite space to chill out. NOTE:sink, toilet and shower 30 second walk away from studio in host house through a private entrance. Drinking water provided. Great for road & hill walking, no traffic. Hour to Killarney, West Cork & Cork City. Macroom 6 miles away for shops.
We grow our own vegetables and keep chickens and try to live in a sustainable way. As this area is 1000 metres above sea level and there are lots of beautiful native trees planted on our land you can enjoy amazing fresh air and space. It is a perfect place to chill out and relax in peace and quiet after your day of sight seeing and exploring.
This area is unique because it gives you the feeling of what it is like to experience real rural Irish living while being within an hour drive of all touristic places.
  • I’ve stayed here a few times now and as always it’s brilliant hospitality and a wonderful place to stay. Excellent hospitality Regina and Paul are wonderful hosts and would highly recommend to all!

    Av2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Hands down one of the best Airbnb’s I ever stayed it. The apartment is perfect!! Regina is such a kind and warm host. The stove is so cosy and heats up the space so quickly. Beds are lovely, and the bathroom and shower is only a couple seconds walk away. I originally booked 2 nights but was having such a great time that I booked an extra 2 nights, would of stayed for another week if I could have. Perfect commute to Coachford where I was taking part in a course. Couldn’t recommend it more.

  • A beautiful recluse, really comfy and easily made to feel at home. Everything worked wonderfully in the space. The area itself is absolutely gorgeous and a walk up the lanes is a must.

  • 2 nights of real peace away from it all in a beautiful setting. What more do you want 🙂

    David2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Regina and Paul's place was the accommodation highlight of my trip: I simply needed a place to crash on route to Cork, but their place gave me the emotional nourishment I didn't know I needed amidst a long road trip. The place is cozy and stylish, reminding me of little California cabins I've stayed at. Regina greeted me, having already started a fire in the little fireplace located in the private unit. It's a small space, but the space is really well utilized. It felt like a regular sized apartment. It's a mini kitchen, but they had everything I needed: Regina had carefully stocked the mini fridge with milk, butter, yoghurt, and jam for my stay, along with some fresh soda bread for me to enjoy in the morning. I was here mid-November, and it was one of the few properly heated places I've stayed at! It's very quiet at night, so I was TOASTY in bed listening to the rain on the roof. It's the kind of place you can really relax at. I regret not having allocated more time to spend here: I would have loved to get to know the hosts more. 'Tis my only regret :)

    Tuna2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is outstanding, you feel like your in a log cabin in the middle of nowhere. So snug and cosy!

    Luke2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! It’s a lovely space with lots of thoughtful touches. Lovely selection of books to browse & a delicious selection of scones or fruit & porridge for breakfast. Regina & Paul are very welcoming & quick to respond to queries.

We didn't meet the host, but she always gave us informations and ask for our installation. Moreover, Mary even asked us if we wanted to speak French with her (as we are French) so she is very helpfull!

    Łukasz2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • It is a perfect place to discover the area and relax. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is fantastic and everything is super clean. It leaves you tea and coffee, and some buns to start the day! Cool! In addition, most importantly, we accepted the reservation the same day :) The only thing is that if at night you want to go down to the Town Pub, you need a car yes or yes! All perfect. We would return without a doubt!

  • I have previously stayed at Deirdre's place, and was very happy to return. It is a modern and well maintained house and she is a great host with a very welcoming and friendly manner, who will always go the extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

    Michael2019-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • My big sister and I stayed 3 nights with Deirdre and her whole family. it was a really wonderful time! The house is very clean, the pets are incredibly sweet and the family is very hospitable and warmhearted. From them we also got very good recommendations for places of interest. We really had the best time with them in Cork. The house is a bit remote, but because we were there with a car, it was no problem at all. Besides, there'd have to be buses. We would book a room at Deirdre at any time again and can recommend this to others.

    Raquel2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean spacious room. Deidre couldn’t have been more helpful cleared some space in her fridge for me to store my lunches. All in all if I’m back in the area will stay again.

    David2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and real Irish experience at this place. We only have excellents words about our days at Deirdre´s house. She is a perfect host. Always with a smile and very good to talk with about anything. Tim is also very nice but we could not spend much time with him. Our kids were really confortable at this house and we recomend this place to all people interested in that área of Ireland. This is the perfect house to rest and disconnect after a nice whole day of tourism. If we come back there, we Will stay there again for sure.

    Inigo2019-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Deirdre was a perfect host in a perfect house, very easy to talk to and very helpful. I would highly recommend a stay here. 10/10

    Michael2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to life the real irish country life, you should definitely book at leasr a week in a room in Deirdre's house. Deirdre has a fantastic family and is a very intelligent and talkative host. Beside that, she gives a lot of suggestions regarding the local amenities. Indispensable to have a care, since the place is not serviced very well by means of public transportation. I was treated as a member of the family, they are very kind and collaborative. I suggest this place!

    Alfredo2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • The stay at Deirdres house was great, she and her family are really lovable people! The house and the whole area is gorgeous! Deirdre and her family members were very helpful at everything and played with the children, we loved to stay there and the next time in this area we would like to be there again!

    Niki2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Deirdre's house is very comfortable and modern. It is very well located, next to Macroon, ideal for visiting the counties of Cork and Kerry. The family is lovely and Deirdre a perfect hostess, great conversationalist and super attentive throughout. The room was very large and comfortable and the breakfast fantastic and exquisite. The house is recommended 100%. If I go back through that area I will not hesitate to return to their home because they welcomed me as if I were one of the family. An unforgettable experience during the 6 nights I spent with them.

  • I had stayed here before, had felt both welcome and comfortable in Erdyni’s house, so I chose it again as the safest place to stay when I still had to travel during the Corona catastrophe. It’s not only perfectly possible to follow social distancing orders here (lots of space, outside of the city, beautiful garden) but also to enjoy the stay as much as these unprecedented circumstances will allow. Thank you! I’ll be back for sure.

There are 2 bedrooms (a double and a single) upstairs while downstairs there are 2 small sitting rooms, a dining room, and a kitchen. It is south facing under a sheltered hill so it’s flooded with light in the summer, cosy and sheltered in the winter. Nearby attractions include Blarney Castle, Blarney House & gardens (10 minutes drive), water skiing facility (15 minutes drives), international angling competitions in Coachford (15 minutes) and the National Rowing Centre (10 minutes). A little further afield is Cork City with its annual Jazz Festival, Film Festival, Midsummer Arts Festival, The Marquee concert venue, Páirc Uí Chaoimh GAA and concert venue, the world-famous English Market and much more besides. Cork is also a university city - University College Cork (UCC), Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and Cork University Hospital (CUH) are all only 20mins away. Ballincollig town and park is less than 15 minutes away, as is the N40/N22 motorway - offering easy access west (Killarney, West Cork, Kerry), east (Waterford, Wexford, Cobh, etc.), North (Limerick, Dublin, etc.), and South (Kinsale, Innishannon, etc.) – is less than 20 minutes away.
  • Gorgeous country cottage in County Cork. Away from the crowds but easy to get to many amazing regions in southern Ireland. Comfortable, clean, well equipped, easy check-in, great communication with hosts, thoughtful brekky supplies in the fridge, an all round fabulous stay.

  • Charming cottage with lots of room, great amenities, and only a few steps away from the best pub in southern Ireland. Mary & Kate have the most amazing house to share, we hope to come back again!

  • Although this is an old-style cottage built many years ago and built onto over time, it lacks nothing in modern convenience for an enjoyable stay. The cottage has two bedrooms upstairs, one with a double and one with a single bed which was comfortable for us: 2 adults and a teenager. The bathroom, which is downstairs has a modern electric shower. The kitchen is well-equipped and allowed us to prepare breakfasts and some meals “at home”. Despite being July it can get quite cold in Ireland so we needed to put on the central heating a few times to warm up the house. The heating is modern and heats the house quickly. More adventurous guests have the option to light a traditional open fire in the front room for which lighters, coal and wood are provided or light the fire oven in the back room. The location is perfect for visiting local attractions or venturing further afield in Counties Cork or Kerry. It’s a short drive to Blarney or Ballincollig or even shorter to local supermarkets. A car is almost essential as the location is not close to regular bus connections. However there is a well-known traditional pub/restaurant within a few hundred meters of the cottage that we visited a few times. If going when it’s dark there are high-visibility yellow jackets hanging on the back door to use. This was one of the many thoughtful things we found in the cottage. When we arrived there was butter, milk and eggs in the fridge and a loaf of fresh bread on the counter. Communication was also excellent. We had some questions about the house when we arrived and Mary promptly answered and offered her help. Thanks to Mary and Kate for all the thoughtful touches and excellent communication!

  • We had a lovely stay at Mary & Kate’s cottage. We were down for a weekend with our dog to visit the city so it was a perfect base just 15 minutes away from the city. The cottage was sparkling clean and had everything we needed. Mary and Kate are excellent hosts and we would be delighted to return.

    Cathy2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • the cottage is beautiful...just perfect and all of the details wow!! they have thought of everything. it was picturesque and very clean and homey.

    Lisa2019-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • I lived here for a whole month, and enjoyed it all. A wonderful example of a 19th century cottage. Lovely and warm and within easy reach of the city and local village stores. Don’t expect a modern spacious environment, but you are not left feeling wanting. As with many old places, the walls are thick and the doors are low, and there’s not a sign of creaky floors! Yes, I’d more than recommend this place :-)

Kestrel Cottage and Curlew Cottage are situated on a beautiful one acre field, with, glimpses of the mountains towards Killarney and on the doorstep of West Cork, close to the tiny village of Tarelton. The city of Cork is an easy commute away. Both cottages have been our family home for many years. Each independent of the other, cozy in the winter and sunny and spectacular in the summer. The family live in Curlew Cottage and we would like to welcome guests to Kestrel Cottage.
Kestrel Cottage has an entrance hall, separate bedroom with 2 single beds, an additional guest bed, living room, fully equipped kitchen come dining room and separate utility room. From the windows there are views out into the fields and country side. To the front of the cottage there is a pleasant garden and to the back stretching down to the edge of the field. The cottage is a pleasant place to spend time, and there, are places to sit in the garden. Once the evenings are clear and the weather fine, evenings can be a time to sit outside too. The starry night skies are beautiful (no street lights here) and one interpretation for Tarelton is "The Land of the Stars"
Tarelton village is a 5/10 minutes stroll from Kestrel Cottage. A small grocery shop, post office, bar all rolled into one is the central feature. The bar serves a good pint of Guinness and one can buy the ingredients for an Irish breakfast including the famous Clonakilty black pudding and soda bread made locally. Macroom is a busy small town 15 minute car drive away. There are pleasant walks from the cottage with lovely views to be found. The Gearagh Nature Reserve, 5 minutes by car provides of road walking. Gougane Barra, 1/2 an hour away, is suitable for easy walking or the more demanding Gougane Barra Ridge. About an hours drive away from Kestrel Cottage are ferry crossing points to the West Cork Islands of Sherkin, Cape Clear and Heir. Each island has its own character with lovely walks and coastal scenery, and a pace of life which may not be found on the mainland. Fastnet Lighthouse(most south westerly point) not accessible by foot but by ferry for those who find there sea legs. Killarney offers opportunity for walking from the National Park, to the highest point in Ireland Carrauntuohill. The lakes themselves are beautiful with fly fishing from 15 February to 12 October. Weekly markets are held in many of the towns, the biggest being the permanent, indoor market with its large fish hall in Cork city.
  • We couldn't have been "stuck" at a more fantastic place during the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. The cottage is quiet and cosy and it has all the amenities needed for a long term stay. You will never grow tired of the beautiful setting. Even with social distancing measures, Eoin and Libby were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. It is convenient to Macroom where there are plenty of grocery stores and shops. We will definitely return as it is a great base location to explore the beauty of the Southwest of Ireland when restrictions are lifted. Very highly recommend!

  • I perfect location to visit the southwest of Ireland. Very welcoming hosts and a great accommodation.

    Brendan2020-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It felt like home immediately. Spotless clean and with a lot of amenities. Beautiful maintained garden. Eoin and Libby are great hosts and we enjoyed the chats with them. We will be back for sure.

    Ana2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • It's a wonderful cottage in what seems to be the middle of nowhere, but it's only a short beautiful drive to town. There were a lot of personal touches which went the extra mile. It's a pretty centralized location to be able to visit various cities. The roads to get to the cottage are narrow, but there was little traffic so it was hardly a worry. Google maps gave directions to the cottage without issue with the address we were given, so we were never lost, as the roads in the area are a bit confusing.

    Francisco2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed very much our stay, Libby made us feel very welcomed, even left fresh eggs, milk and juice for us. Cottage is lovely, would really like to come back.

    Elena2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely welcoming space with good facilities, resources about places to visit in the area and toasty warm.

  • Kestrel Cottage is a warm and relaxing place to take a break. I was welcomed by Eoin and Libby when I arrived and they was helpful throughout my stay, I would not hesitate to go back again.

    Darren2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and cozy cottage in top condition with the friendly hosts Eoin and Libby and regional food for brakefast. It's a great base to take daytrips by car to cork, the south- and westcoast.

  • This place was the best we had on our Ireland trip. Harriet and her husband were super friendly and welcoming, they even surprised us with some delicious apple cake on arrival. Everything was clean and it really felt like coming home. We would definitely recommend this AirBnB.

    Hermann2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • I am so happy to have gotten the legit "Irish" experience. This has been by far the best Airbnb experience I have ever had! I was given tea and dessert on my arrival,my room was fully ready for me! I was even supplied with little treats throughout! Such an awesome couple and great family! To start off I rented a room, far enough from Cork that I could take day trips to other small towns and interesting spots! From the very beginning I had a rough beginning in Ireland, but Harriet and Des went above and beyond in helping me get the gps for my car, giving me ideas of what to do, they took me sight seeinga couple times too! Harriet and Des are the Irish parents I never had! They were respective and gracious hosts! They checked in with me to make sure all was good! I came to their house as a strangerand left feeling like family

    Sara2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • If you are lucky enough to stay with Des and Harriet, be ready for the best advice on things to do in the area or a quiet rest in their delightful home. Not only did we have a private bath, but also a beautiful glass-paneled sitting room. From that room we were able to see their beautiful garden and the lake, We really didn't want to leave.

    Bob2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was a great stay with wonderful people. The room was clean, the garden beautiful and huge and we were invited to use the kitchen, bathroom and living room as if we were at home. We felt very comfortable, it was a great experience in a very dreamy part of Ireland. Anytime again with pleasure. Many thanks for the hospitality.

    Jay2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We felt like we were at home. Harriet and Des are very nice people. They took care of us as if we were family members.

  • Harriet & Des are lovely hosts who go out of their way to make their guests feel at home. We were welcomed with freshly baked rhubarb pie & tea and we enjoyed breakfast every morning in the sunny lounge. One thing to note was that the bathroom is not private and is shared with other guests in the house.

    Kea2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Harriet & Des are amazing! Very friendly and extremely welcoming. We had wonderful chats with them during our stay. It feels like home! The house is a dream home, the garden is gorgeous and Harriet's breakfast is super yummy. Thank you for hosting us. Grazie :D Maria&Chris

The peace you feel here with an amazing avenue view with a light drizzle outside is a moment to savour. Moreover, the help provided by her be it the local guidance or the amenities, were top notch. I would go as far as to say it felt like “home”.

(Not for driving hire - max 7 nights - not suitable for 4 or 5 adults). Self-catering , sleeping up to a family of 5 (but not more than 3 adults), parked in front of our house with access to shared kitchen/shower/toilet in the Outhouse. Tig Lammax is located in quiet countryside 6km from the town of Macroom in a lightly populated rural area, close to The Gearagh Nature Reserve, a popular walking area, and Gougane Barra National Park. See tiglammax com website for more information.
The Campervan has a high level, curtained, fixed king-size bed, and a small double sofa bed and a single sofa bed in the lounge area of the van, so we can accommodate up to a family of 5 (but not more than 3 adults). Guests have the use of a shared sitting room with satellite TV in the house. WiFi is now available throughout the property. The house sits on 1/2 acre of land with a newly landscaped garden. There is parking your car next to the Campervan. We are ideally situated for travellers between Cork City & Killarney being only half an hour by car to Gougane Barra, 55 mins to Killarney and 40 mins to Cork City. Campervan & Pod guests (see separate listing) have access to a newly installed kitchen in the Outhouse together with shower, toilet, and seating area for your meals . Continental breakfast is also available in the cottage at an extra charge of €5 per person. The accommodation is more suitable for guests travelling by car due to it's rural location. However, we welcome walkers and cyclists and we can collect from Macroom, which is well served by buses from Cork, Killarney, Tralee etc, for an extra €8 voluntary gratuity per round trip.
The district is lightly populated. We have one immediate neighbour and about 10 other dwellings within one square kilometre - fairly typical of rural Ireland. The house is situated in a quiet part of the Cork countryside, 6km from Macroom town and 1km from The Gearagh, a national nature reserve of great natural importance due to it's rich and rare diversity of wildlife, representing the only extant extensive alluvial woodland in Western Europe. It makes for a very pleasant 6km walk. While the countryside is hilly, it is great cycling country so will appeal to those who come equipped, or who would like to hire bicycles from us for a small fee.
  • I recommend Moira without hesitation, very good hospitality and confort !

  • My best airbnb experience so far! :) We arrived really late at night, but there was no problem at all, we even got the tea and had a small chat with the owner. Hosts were extremely friendly and hospitable, we got many tips for our roadtrip, we talked a lot about irish traditions, people and attitude. We even had a breakfast wow. I really reccomend you all this place, we could really feel like at home :) Thank you very much!

Located on a quiet farmyard with a large garden, 3km from the Lee Valley. Host lives in another farmhouse next door. Great fishing nearby in the river Lee, national rowing center also located within 10 mins drive. 25 mins drive from Cork city, 15 mins to the Blarney stone. Easy access to West Cork and Kerry region, all reachable with day trips. Lots of great walks nearby. If you need “fast”WiFi, this is probably not the location for you. We are rural and not served by incredible internet speeds.
Lovely Garden and lots of space around. Lots of trees surrounding the property. Located on a farmyard, the house has recently been renovated.
Lovely countryside. If you love walking the roads are great for this. The Lee Valley is 3km away, where there is a lovely park (Farran Wood), and the National Rowing center.
  • Joe is a warm host with many nice tips. The accommodation is cosy, clean and beautifully situated. Thanks! We'd come back.

  • The house is standard country style which was clean and comfortable, but what really made the stay 5 star was the hospitality. I have never been so well treated by a host! For those who want to experience Irish hospitality at its best, this is a great place to consider!

Experience hammock camping without worrying about the Irish weather. Stay dry as you sleep in a hammock in our polytunnel. Enjoy the bush bathroom with hot shower, cook in our bush kitchen and eat in the spacious greenhouse. There is something for everyone, between hammocks, table tennis, football field, trampoline, hot tub, the friendly chickens and Foster the dog :-) All towns are a short drive, this is an ideal choice if you would like to experience the outdoors and West Cork
This is an amazing hidden gem peaceful and quiet, beautiful spot away from it all. Great for country lane walks in the early morning, a BBQ in the evening and campfire skits in the evening. You are surrounded by beautiful gardens with the greenery of Ireland around you. There is something for everyone, between hammocks, table tennis, football field, trampoline, hot tub, the friendly chickens and Foster the dog :-) Clonakilty, Kinsale, Bantry and Cork City are all short drives from Bengour, so this is definitely the ideal holiday choice if you would like to really experience the outdoors and what West Cork has to offer.

  • Oliver is an outstanding host, clearly very experienced and great at balancing various requests that come his way. All amenities are available and clearly explained either by Oliver in person or through the notes and folders in the accommodation and amenities. A great base to explore this part of Cork from. Highly recommended.

  • Oliver, have a amazing wild accommodation near to cork. He is a nice, nice Irish man. Thanks

    Filipe2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our short stay with Oliver. The hammocks were far more comfortable than we had expected and it was definitely a new and exciting experience!

    Grace2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Super cool location, where else can you sleep in hammocks? ;-) Get ready for camping, then it will be great! Really nice hosts and a great area around it.

  • Although my plans changed at the last moment while in Ireland, Oliver was very understanding and accommodating. I hope to make it there again in the near future.

  • A super stay, highly recommend it

    Fiona2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Something completely different than you are used to. It was an adventure to find accommodation and more than one to sleep in a hammock, but it was great! The scenery around is great and the experience of sleeping there is something that I would not want to miss. Super friendly hosts, which even drove us to the next supermarket.

    Saskia2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Super night! Although I was skeptical about the comfort of a hammock at my age (47), I had a great night, warm despite the cool rainy night, reconnecting with nature. The site is wonderful, comfortable and soothing. Thank you Olivier for your great availability and your kindness! I recommend everyone!

  • This was one of the best stays in our tour of Ireland. Everything was spotless. The bedroom sleeping arrangements (for me and my 19 year-old grandson) with the two beds was spacious, clean and quiet. Enjoyed the view of the horses and the countryside. Hospitality was great. I had caught a cold on the day before arriving and Celia even fixed me up with a hot Irish whiskey that soon took away the cold. Kitchen facilities were excellent with lots of space, cooking facilities and everything we needed. We cooked our own breakfast and supper. Parking was right outside the front door. Location was excellent for our purposes as we wanted to experience the Irish country side yet be close enough to Cork and surrounding area for day trips such as Blarney Castle and Charles Fort. We would highly recommend Celia's place.

  • Dearest Collette and Molly, Thank you for such a warm Irish reception. Your home is absolutely exquisite. You made me feel super comfortable and I'm so grateful for having stayed in your home. The room & bathroom were perfect, clean, warm, cozy and beautifully decorated. The kitchen and dining were clean, cozy, neat and beautifully decorated too, and easy to make use of all amenities. Thank you for graciously offering a light meal when I arrived late on the first night at check in. The tea and chat in your cozy lounge with log fire place was just what I needed after a long day of driving. Molly is such a friendly dog, that loves cuddles and petting... Her love and attention made me feel right at home. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. I would love to visit again in the not so distant future. Thank you for everything. Michelle

    Florence2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • It truly was home from home. I was met by three remarkably well-behaved kids, a friendly dog and by Collette with a huge smile on her face. This was followed by a delicious bowl of home-made soup and a cup of tea. The following morning Collette went to a great deal of trouble to lay out my breakfast which I greatly appreciated. After leaving I couldn’t help but reflect upon the fact that somehow the world seemed a nicer, warmer place than it had been prior to my arrival. Many, many thanks Collette.

  • Well I can honestly say this is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect! Not only was the view stunning, everything about this ‘tiny house’ has been well thought through. From the complimentary milk, bread and butter....to the fantastic range of teas available. The towels were crystal white and fluffy and soft - probably the softest towel I’ve ever had! Car is essential for the area to get around I’d advise, but that wasn’t an issue for us. Tom was lovely when we met him and showed us around. We only stayed here one night, but I wish our trip was longer and that we could have spent another! We will be returning!

  • This cozy cottage could not have been more perfect to stay at on our drive through town. The coal stove kept us warm at night and the washer and dryer was perfect to wash our hiking clothes. Siobhan was the sweetest and left us a bunch of yummy snacks and fresh eggs for the next morning. Thank you again, we will stay again soon.

  • It's a lovely cottage at a farm outside Cork. You'll find a modern apartment with washer and dryer, stylish bathroom, cozy beds, fresh eggs from their chickens, and enough utensils to cook in, if necessary. Interested in the farm? Siobhan loves to talk about the cows and the challenges of taking care of them. We will stay again!

  • We have relocated to Ireland from Singapore and chose The Mews as a temporary accommodation while we looked for a longer term rental. Siobhan and Tim have been the most amazing hosts, incredibly helpful and providing us with all the information we needed to make our move as easy as possible. The Mews is in a fantastic rural location, surrounded by rolling hills and green pastures. Our son instantly fell in love with the two little farm dogs, Lilly and Lola and will be back regularly to visit them. This is a lovely place that is well placed to visit all of Cork and surrounding areas, and Siobhan and Tim make the whole experience very special.

  • STOP. Look no further. This is the place for you! Just a short drive from Blarney, this is by far my favorite Air Bnb to date. Welcome from start to finish, from the dogs greeting us at the gate to Siobhan meeting us at the door and so much more. Siobhan is the perfect host- available, but not intrusive. All amenities inside the home were clean and in working order. Beds were comfortable and linens (including towels) were soft and clean. Siobhan was available to give us tips on where to eat (eat at Muskerry Arms!) and what to do. Highly recommend this home.

My boyfriend and I didn't have a place to stay that night in Cork, figuring we could just get a B&B at any last minute (which is not the case) and Aisling saved us! I found her place on Airbnb and about 10 minutes later she confirmed and replied. She has a beautiful family and are very accommodating. I would recommend this place to anyone staying near the area!

  • We most highly recommend the Gatelodge for a getaway! The walks in the surrounding areas are just beautiful and very peaceful. Our favourite part was sitting in the courtyard in the evenings watching the sun set. We will definitely be planning on a return trip! One hint for dog owners is that Blarney castle no longer allow dogs on the grounds, but everywhere else we went our dog was warmly welcomed. Our thanks go to the host, Belinda, for all the special touches such as the homemade goodies and fresh eggs upon arrival!

  • Belinda was incredibly hospitable! We arrived to find the fridge stocked with food for breakfast and fresh bread and jams along with apples from her trees. She was fantastic about staying in touch and making sure you have everything you need. The place was perfect for our group and the surrounding castle and grounds were stunning. It felt like we stepped back in time into a fairytale. Highly recommend staying here!

  • The kitchen was our favorite room, warm and cozy. The AGA stove is fun to cook on. It was so nice to have homemade muffins, jam and bread when we arrived. Also the fresh apples and eggs were appreciated. We made a yummy apple crumble with Belinda’s apples. The Master Suite exceeded expectations. Walk out to the garden was great. Having a vanity was a nice touch. Bed was very comfortable. Heated towel rack was a luxury. Laundry room was a god send especially on the tail end of a three week trip. We really appreciated the tips and help for things to do in area. Belinda was really responsive to any and all questions before and during the visit. The location is very central for many day trips. Recommendations for Macroom and Cork were very helpful for eating locations. We would highly recommend staying here. It was great.

  • This lovely home is well situated for day trips to Killarney National Park, Cobh and Kinsale. It is roomy and comfortable with French doors from the master bedroom to a beautiful private patio. Belinda provided wonderful extras to make the place feel especially welcoming: fresh flowers, coffee, eggs, soda bread and delicious Irish butter!

    Kathy2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • You will find a charming, comfortable, amenity-filled home in a beautiful setting amongst stone walls, running stream and a old castle next door. Small roads lead you to this country setting where you can wander through flower and tree filled roads and foot paths. This one is not to be missed!

    Cyndee2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Gate Lodge is a lovely home in a beautiful setting. Very spacious, and Belinda was kind enough to leave us homemade bread and scones, and raspberry jam, delicious! Also all the basics were provided, oil, vinegar, milk, butter and eggs. There are so many things to do in the area, we wished we had more time, but what we did have was wonderful! Belinda’s husband met us on arrival and gave us some history of the house, local tips and a warm welcome. Something to be aware of is our (UK) phones had no coverage; something we’ve found to be common in Ireland, so if you use your phone for mapping be aware, and check it out ahead of time so you don’t get stranded.

  • We have just spent the most idyllic week in Ireland. The Lodge was spotless on arrival and the home made muffins, bread and jam were so welcome after a long day's drive. Belinda was a perfect host, cheerful and very knowledgeable about the area. We took all her suggestions for trips out and evening meals, and everything was superb. We particularly liked Toon Bridge Dairy pizzeria and the Bulman Bar in Kinsale for its excellent seafood. We walked the dogs every morning and evening on a private wooded path by the River Lee; the perfect start and end to the day. An amazing place and we will certainly return.

  • Barry has been a fantastic host! Warm and welcoming, we felt comfortable and settled right from the start. We found Barry approachable and accommodating for all our needs. We could not have found a better person or place to stay! The location is nestled in a beautiful valley with amazing scenery and perfect for holidaying or touring the region as it is close to both urban and rural interests. All in all, a great choice!

  • Barry is just a super friendly guy! I enjoyed my stay at his place. As for the location, it is quite a bit outside Cork, so in case you want to cycle this, it is possible (I did 5 weeks cycling every day 40min to Cork and back), but definitely not an easy endeavour. In case you should have any issues, instead of complaining at the end of your stay, I would suggest to ask Barry immediately. He is open, quick to respond, and doing his best to help! I wish you a pleasant stay at Barry’s!

  • All perfect! The house is very good to make route, or to visit Cork.

  • Barry's house is located in a peaceful area 10 minutes from Ballincollig and 15-20 minutes from Cork City and Cork Airport, such as short distances to Blarney Castle and Kinsale. From the house you can see the nearby lake and surrounding landscape. You need a car or other way of transport though. The room is clean and has a big window from where you can see the sunrise in the morning. Barry was a very obliging host, helped wherever he could and is a very refined and kind person. My stay was a great expierence and I am looking forward coming back to this place whenever I'm in Cork again. I can recommend staying at Barry's house!
