We offer one of the area’s only PRIVATE lake retreats. Come and enjoy a getaway in our peaceful lake community! The Town of Lake Waccamaw was incorporated in 1911, however, was inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years. Southeastern North Carolina was covered by a shallow ocean more than two million years ago and you might find interesting fossils including sharks teeth, shells and coral as you swim in the shallow water. Be sure to visit Lake Waccamaw State Park to view the 2.75 million year old whale skull that was discovered embedded in a limestone outcropping several years ago. Measuring nearly 9,000 acres, the lake is unique in many ways ecologically with several endemic species of fish and mollusks (found nowhere else in the world).The lake is about 10 feet at the deepest with shallow waters along its shores, making it perfect for families with children. Tourist attractions include a local museum in a 1904 train depot, Lake Waccamaw State Park, our beautiful library, several restaurants, grocery and retail stores. The guest house is totally private from our home and features a vintage lake theme queen bedroom with flat screen television (Direct TV and DVD player), en suite bathroom with shower. All bed and bath linens are furnished. The common area/living room has a flat screen television (Direct TV and DVD player), a variety of movies, books and magazines, toys and board games for all ages. The fully equipped kitchen has a nice size refrigerator with a separate freezer, electric coffee pot or French press, microwave, and electric stove. A variety of cookware and utensils are available for your use as well as kitchen staple items. A washer and dryer is available in the garage below the apartment. We provide a few basic breakfast items for your first morning. There is a grocery store nearby for most anything else you would need. The living room couch/futon converts to a very comfortable full size bed. There is a large desk for our business clients and free WiFi. Other furnishings include a table with four chairs, rocking chair and leather recliner. Guests have access to an outdoor kitchen with a gas stove, and a double sink. You may use the charcoal or gas grill, enjoy the fire pit (wood provided), several bicycles, and two kayaks. We also have corn hole boards and other yard games you may use. Sorry, we are not able to accommodate your pets, but can recommend a delightful getaway for them. Although our log cabin isn’t on the lake front, it is just steps (the length of a football field!) from your apartment. You may use the pier for sunning, swimming, launching a kayak, fishing, relaxing or picnicking under the shaded canopy. Lake Waccamaw is conveniently located one hour from many beaches in Wilmington, N.C. and one hour from Myrtle Beach, S.C. We personally recommend Sunset Beach, which is about an hour.l

Get away from it all with this, rustic tiny home situated on a small farm. Sit out front and enjoy the sunset while you watch the horses, donkeys, goats and cows. We do ask you only feed the animals the provided treats. There is no wifi available, you can use your hotspot on your cell for the tv. Microwave and grill with a side burner for cooking. No indoor stove or oven. Toilet and sink inside, shower is outside. Close to downtown Wilmington and the beaches! Lots of local history as well!

Near the Independence Mall Shopping Area and two miles from the vibrant Historical Downtown with music and dining choices. A scenic 4.5 mile paved walking or jogging trail runs by the Lake House and circles the lake. You are 30 minutes away from our two beautiful beaches. There are lots of sights and attractions nearby, but you are located in a place of peace and quiet.

When staying at the Carriage House, the beach and Wilmingtons' attractions are yours for the taking. The Carriage House is located in the Princess Place Neighborhood, next to Burnt Mill Creek -a bird watchers paradise. It is 1.5 miles to Downtown Wilmington and the Riverwalk and 7 miles to the Beach. I have crafted the Carriage House from reclaimed materials. Enjoy the guest hot tub and fire table. As all other mentions in the overwhelmingly positive reviews have stressed, this was a favorite. The friendly, experienced Hosts take great pride in their property and this guesthouse. Everything adds up to an exceptional experience. Don't let the 'pet friendly' policy give you pause if you are not traveling with 4-legged friends, the property is spotlessly cleaned and maintained. The location is wonderful, away from the hustle bustle but within a short drive to the local attractions and beaches. Our only suggestions would be to add a small patio table and chair set for guests to enjoy their morning coffee in the beautiful yard while ther dogs frolic and perhaps a propane grill. We certainly would not hesitate to return or reccommend this lovely AirBnB if you are in the Wilmington area. Thank you Nate!

John has an amazing little gem hidden here. My family loved every minute of being here - we didn’t want to leave! We were worried about the size but once we got there seen there was plenty if not more space! Beautiful home with the cutest little farm beside it. John was very thoughtful with everything inside the home, we didn’t need anything. Such a great experience, truly hope to come back. The binder full of great information and recommendations was a great tool. We really appreciate you opening your home to us. Such a great, unforgettable experience.

My husband and I and my brother and his wife were coming into town for a family reunion… we had not been to this area in over 20 years. As I looked around for an Airbnb, Michelle’s stood out to me! Not only was it adorable ! But it was so clean and new, easy to find, ample parking, huge fenced backyard, just wonderful! We found three restaurants within a mile that were great, an Asian one, a Mexican one and the sawmill family diner, which had amazing breakfast (lunches too!) Traveling around and exploring was fun and easy to find our way back. Michele’s cottage was so comfortable !! It was well appointed, plenty of coffee and sugar beautiful open kitchen into the eating area and living area. Even the laundry area off the kitchen, which we did use. The AC was nice and cold!! The bathrooms. (2) were great bright and cheery, excellent water pressure, ample hot water.. The beds were comfortable! Michelle was quick to answer questions. I highly recommend this place.!!!

This was my second stay within a month, and I absolutely love this place. It’s the perfect size , not too small, not too big , and so thoughtfully set up. Doreen is super responsive and proactive, which makes everything easy. I really appreciate the little extras like regular and sparkling water, and even a hair straightener in the bathroom. Now I know not to pack mine next time! My flight was delayed and I had issues leaving too, but she was incredibly accommodating with late check-in and check-out. That flexibility means so much when life happens. I’ll definitely be back!
