The Boathouse61

LeslieRating, 5 stars2 days ago
The Boathouse is beautiful! It is in a great location with many things to so. It’s also about 25 minutes from Newport. I wish we could have stayed longer. Chris was very responsive to questions & accommodating to our request. The views are incredible & my husband loved taking the kayak out. Chris provides all the special touches to her place that made our stay feel very homey! We loved meeting you & Phoebe ( she is so cute & sweet). Thanks for the great conversations & we appreciated all your activity & restaurant suggestions. I really hope we can visit again.

Waterfront Studio, 10 min to Downtown Providence

CayenneRating, 5 stars6 days ago
We could not praise Colin’s place enough! It was easy to check in, the place was perfectly clean, and the location is unmatched. The entrance to the studio was the most beautiful of any Airbnb we’ve rented! We sat on the waterfront deck and thoroughly enjoyed the array of stunning birds that frequent the river’s edge. The pictures truly do not do the place justice. Thanks so much for a fantastic stay!

Carriage House Guest Suite

JaneRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful place to spend the weekend. It had everything we needed. It's in a quiet garden setting. Our very favorite experience was to open the curtains to the yard and watch all the wildlife while we enjoyed our morning coffee. Wild turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, and many many species of birds, all within a few feet of the sliding glass door. We felt like we were in a fairytale. We will would love to stay again when we visit family in the area. Thank you so much for creating such a lovely spot!

Stay in Decadence | One-of-a-Kind Flat on Broadway

DenaRating, 5 stars2 days ago
This was one of the best Airbnbs we have stayed at! The apartment is beautiful, the furniture was comfortable, and the shower was wonderful. There were so many small touches that came together to make this place such a gem. I especially loved the glitter in the grout of the tile in the bathroom! We also appreciated the fan in the closet for the bedroom. We found the location to be fantastic and enjoyed walking to restaurants nearby. We felt safe walking for several blocks in the area at night. If we find ourselves back in Providence we would definitely stay here again!

The Snug Cottage: Walk to Water-Newly Renovated

NancyRating, 5 stars8 months ago
Beautiful cottage and location. Most of the local eateries( which are excellent) are within walking or biking distance, and the beaches are gorgeous. This is a place where quiet, calm and peacefulness blow in with the ocean breezes and envelope every part of oneself. A truly restful and restorative experience. Thank you, Marnee. Nancy and Peter B

A very special beach cottage in the country

WilliamRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Carla & Dan’s place is a great spot and perfect for our visit to RI for my daughter’s graduation from URI. This split level house on a dead end road is cozy, quiet and so easy to enjoy. There are lots of places to sit, chat with our friends, cook a meal in the well equipped kitchen and relax. The beds were so comfortable. We throughly enjoyed our short stay and want to return when we have more time. Lovely hosts, amazing spot:A+

Block to waterfront, town, RWU, drive to Newport

DeborahRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This is a charming, comfortable, and immaculate cottage in a beautiful neighborhood of historic Bristol. While the pictures are completely accurate, they don't capture the "feng shui" of the place -- the peaceful feeling of being inside a well-designed small house suffused with light and surrounded by trees and flowers where every piece of furniture and decor is carefully chosen and tasteful. The beds and linens are comfortable; the kitchen is well-outfitted; the backyard is lovely; the bikes are a real plus. The host has thought of most everything; there are great suggestions for restaurants, etc., in the area; the pantry and bathroom are better stocked than at most airbnb's; there is ample coffee, cream, and muffins for your breakfasts. We would definitely return. (Be aware that there are steep steps to the attractive 2d floor that some might find challenging).

Peaceful Water Views with a Happy Nautical Theme

IkeRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Wendy & Sean have created an oasis in Warwick. Decorated lovingly with an ocean of octopi, their Airbnb was so comfy, we hated to leave! We were able to take day trips to Newport, Narragansett & Providence then return to Warwick to enjoy delicious seafood dinners at local restaurants.

Relax by the bay at the Iris Breeze

DanielleRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Host Donna was very responsive. House and linens were very clean. The neighborhood, while quiet was not the greatest to walk with young children. The best things about this house are the kitchen, and the view. Overall it was perfect for our family while our home was being renovated.

Your guide to Rhode Island

Welcome to Rhode Island

Rhode Island is the tiniest state in the United States, but you can hardly tell, because there’s so much to see and do in this place it feels anything but small. Start with 400 miles of classic New England coastline defined by beautiful windswept beaches dotted with lighthouses and clam shacks. Fresh seafood hauled from the chilly Atlantic is transformed into local favorites such as stuffies, fried globes of breadcrumb and clams served on the half shell. Rhode Island’s capital city, Providence, is an unpretentious cultural hub, home to lively dive bars, buzzy restaurants, and one of the country’s premier art colleges, the Rhode Island School of Design. Drive 45 minutes south to tony Newport and you’ll be in the land of Gilded Age mansions and yachts. Whether you decide to undertake a driving tour of colonial towns, go museum and gallery hopping, or simply pad around a sunny coastal village in shorts and sandals, diminutive Rhode Island has lots to offer.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Rhode Island

Rhode Island experiences four true seasons. Hot, sunny summers are ideal to book a beach holiday in one of the state’s many vacation rentals, while crisp fall months bring colorful foliage and classic seasonal activities such as apple picking. In winter, the landscape is transformed into a snowy wonderland, and towns twinkle with holiday lights. In spring, the warm days signal the start of outdoor festival season, and Rhode Island bustles with celebrations of jazz, chowder, and even daffodils.

Top things to do in Rhode Island

Block Island

For a true glimpse of New England living and scenery, hop aboard the ferry to Block Island, located off Rhode Island’s southern shore in Narragansett Bay. This pretty circle of green ringed with gorgeous shoreline is home to sandy coastal paths, historic brick lighthouses, and miles of old stone walls stretched across verdant farmland.

WaterFire

A trail of more than 80 bonfires is set ablaze atop the surface of the three rivers that flow through Providence, filling the canals with a warm glow and the air with the smell of wood smoke, as onlookers and musicians line the banks. Created by sculptor Barnaby Evans, the work has existed in some form since 1994, and comes alive during the summer months, and additional select days throughout the year. Check the WaterFire website for dates.

Mansion Hopping

A trip to Newport isn’t complete without ogling the opulent Gilded Age mansions here. The Preservation Society of Newport County offers tours of ten of these over-the-top temples to wealth, including The Breakers, a 70-room Italian Renaissance-style palazzo built by the Vanderbilt family. The interior looks a bit like a wedding cake dipped in gold and velvet.
