All about Porirua
Just a few miles north of Wellington on the southern tip of the North Island, the port city of Porirua is home to a wealth of nautical activities, natural beauty, and an established art and history museum, Pātaka Art + Museum. The city has seen its fair share of changes over the years since its founding, and has been everything from a fishing hamlet to a thriving farming district and suburb of nearby Wellington. The climb up to Kaitawa Point at Whitireia Park is rewarded with spectacular views of Mana Island. More serene pastimes range from windsurfing and kayaking in the sheltered harbor to cruising past the pastel-hued boathouses in the bay.
