Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Penang

This is a wonderful property to fully experience the George Town historic centre. Not only is it a transitional house from the olden days, the host took great care to decorate it with period pieces, including the cabinet of fine traditional China, paintings on the walls, etc. It really felt like being transported back in time. The location was also fantastic, walkable to all the popular spots and many great restaurants and eateries. Ke was a fantastic host, who was super responsive and accommodating. Our flight landed earlier and she allowed us to leave our luggage at the reception area before our check-in time. Ke also provided lots of recommendations, including advice for activities as I was travelling with my elderly parents. Would definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for an authentic experience.

We had a great 4-day stay at this Airbnb with our group of 6 adults and 2 kids. The amenities were well thought out, catering not just to the adults but also to the kids, which made our experience even better. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it!

Excellent in every way. Where do I start… the location cannot be beat. Armenian street is THE George Town street to see, and it’s walking distance to many amazing restaurants, hawkers centers, boutique shops, street artworks, and other attractions like the esplanade and large shopping malls. The home itself has a very peaceful feel, oozing with oldtown charm, tastefully furnished, and very spacious. The beds are comfortable, the aircon is excellent, the hot/cold filtered water machine is super convenient, and the washer/dryer works well. Things to note: The bathroom ceiling is quite low- if you’re over 5’10” you’ll be stooped over, but they provide a shower seat. There is an atrium in the middle of the home that is open to the floor below and the shop on the ground floor. This is no issue, but something to be aware of if you have toddlers like us that are, at times, difficult to keep calm and quiet.

Great location. Host was attentive we had an issue with the stove and toaster and he took care of it replaced the toaster and gave us an electric wok to heat our food. Enjoyed our stay will be back, liked the location and close proximity to shops and restaurants. Malaysians are very friendly and hospitable.

Nice place and great location.

We had a great one night stay here during a short weekend trip to Penang from KL. There are many thoughtful touches to Ling Ling's place. Notes describing the place and the history. Local recommendations on a homemade map, complete with walking distances. A variety of local snacks to try. The location is convenient and walkable within Georgetown, but feels very private down a small side road.

The owner is friendly and helpful. We request to check in early, the owner quite happy to allow us to do so. The house is very clean, comfortable, nice design and big. We enjoyed our time with family there. 😊😊😊😊😊

I'd give more than five stars if AirBnB would let me. We felt really at home, and would unequivocally recommend the place. Siew Lin is an amazing host, flexible, helpful. The place is great. It's bigger than it looks in the pictures; there are two fully-fitted bathrooms, each with a shower; a great kitchen that is fully equipped; washing machine and a drying rack on the beautiful balcony; everything to feel like home... The location is also perfect. In the building complex there's a fully-stocked supermarket (downstairs and across a covered walkway, 3 minutes door-to-door), great restaurants, a beautiful pool that is always empty, a gym, great surroundings... We also like the geography in the city, nestled (somehow extremely quietly) between Georgetown and Tanjung Bungah!

My kids really love Sam's place especially their kids room - it comes in a tent, plenty of soft toys and Crayon (japanese cartoon character) paintings and figurines, miffy figurine so making it very homey and cutesy. It is very difficult to get them to leave the house which is a great sign. As a mom with 2 kids, I found the kitchen is well equipped with microwave, over, stove, water filter and utensils which make life easier to warm up food and feed the kiddos simple breakfast in the morning. The rooftop jacuzzi, sauna and pool with Penang bridge view is definitely a great attraction on its own with the kiddos and the washing machine can help to drain their clothes much faster for the next swim. The flat is a corner flat with amazing city-view which my kids can't get enough with. The flat is flawless in design and chic, which I completely love. Definitely back for more. Sam is also a local expert and don't hesitate to get his POV for great foods.

Chamen, as a host, really went the extra mile—she actually stocked up on food! There were three types of cup noodles, ice cream, drinks… and honestly, the prices were super cheap. After checking the price list, I suddenly craved a KitKat bar—only to find it was already gone. So sad! That KitKat craving hit hard, so in the end, we went to 7-Eleven and bought everything ourselves. So technically, Chamen didn’t manage to sell us anything. LOL. But seriously, how many hosts even bother preparing snacks and drinks at such reasonable prices? Oh, and none of it was expired—bonus points! One odd thing, though—there was a steam iron, but no washing machine. Still, not a big deal. Also, I couldn’t find any rule in the house listing about not eating durians or mangosteens inside—so maybe next time I’ll sneak some in. (Just kidding!) All in all, big thanks to Chamen. I’ve added your place to my favorites list—keep up the great work!

OMG, this place was so awesome, I am second guessing my condo purchase up the island. This was the best Airbnb place we have ever stayed at, bar none. So convenient to all of the hawker centers and the shopping malls. Thank you. It was truly our honor that you let us stay here.

Such a geratful place

The apartment was fabulous. Though the building itself is not newly built , the apartment is very comfortable and clean. I had a pretty bad experience with my previous apartment in Penang just 2 months back so this time round I took a longer time screening through the apartment listings on offer. I think the fact that I did not see even an ant around the apartment throughout my 17-day stay there speaks volume. The location is also fantastic, within minutes of walking to the seaside hawker centre and if you do not mind the sun, it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the sea side follows by a busy street to Gurney Plaza. Else, getting a Grab to the touristy places around Komtar is cheap and the journey is short.

Before check-in, the host will send the check-in guide in advance, and send the guide map the day before check-in. You need to register before entering the apartment, and you need to swipe your card to enter and exit. The security is very good, the kitchen utensils are very new and complete, and the microwave water dispenser is available. Although it is a little far from the lively neighborhood, the bus and taxi are very convenient, and the public swimming pool is also good. On the last day, we were provided with free storage. The service is very good. I highly recommend staying here✧.

the location was in the heart of george town and a drivable distance to many cafes and places of interests nearby. checking in process was smooth and the accommodation itself was clean, cozy. the views from the living room overlooks the sea and mainland malaysia and we had a great stay at Jesslyn’s place.

The room is clean, each of the facilities are in good condition and the scenery of the sea is beautiful, which is a good place for healing. Most importantly, owner is kind!

Edward’s place was great. John met us on arrival outside and took our bags in for us, showed where everything was and took us up to the pool and gym. There are restaurants downstairs and it’s a short Grab ride to Gurney Plaza. Sam’s Groceria is downstairs and Lotus’s supermarket about 10 minutes’ walk. We didn’t use the large terrace much because it was too hot for us even with the fans on, but spent some hours every day by the pool, which we had to ourselves most of the time. The apartment is large with good air conditioning and fans. We hardly used the kitchen because we didn’t want to cook as there are so many food options around. I had a facial at Aster Spring salon downstairs and my friend had a pedicure in the nail salon on the first floor. It was a great place to stay, so thank you Edward and John.
