The Ancient Baglio - Dammuso 'Il Gelso'

The Antico Baglio (“U Bagghiu” in Sicilian) is the only building of its kind in Pantelleria and dates back to around 1700. It is located in the Sesi archaeological area, 400 meters as the crow flies from the coast, 9 minutes from the town of Pantelleria and 14 minutes from the airport. It is made up of four independent Dammusi which can be accessed from the beautiful internal patio. The propriety is our family holiday paradise.The ancient Dammuso have almost one hectare of garden. Jasmine, almond, bougainvillea, fruits threes and century-old olive trees. The housing units are built on different level.The main part has a living room,a big kitchen giving on outside patio and a terrace, a large bedroom, a bathroom with a shower room. This building has also an heating system that work very well in winter. Two adding independent entry bedrooms are connected with the main unit.

The reviews describe dammusi and hospitality better than anything else. A dammuso overlooking the sea, a morning dip followed by breakfast on the terrace, an aperitif at sunset overlooking the African coast, and at night sleeping to the sound of the waves. The terrace, with its stone barbecue, is your best restaurant. Ideal for children, the sea is right in front of the house, a swimming area, and the house grounds are perfect for playing in peace. Here's the ideal solution for a dream vacation. Facing west, a stone's throw from the sea and the marina of Scauri, with incredible views of the island's spectacular sunsets, it also has access to the large exotic garden that collects dozens of specimens of rare beauty. They can be booked individually or together. Although the owners of the house live on the upper floor, they are very discreet, moreover, because of the way the dammusi are designed, they manage to guarantee total privacy and relaxation.
