Traditional Finnish cottage with a lake-side sauna. For foreigners it is quite an interesting experience. Remember to bring drinking water and learn how to make a fire for the sauna, and then you'll enjoy it. The place requires a bit driving on the gravel roads, but it is worth it. The host was very helpful in providing the tips and showed us around.

Every things was really nice. Elina was responsive and flexible with check-in and number of guests. The location was amazing. The cabin was fully equipped for a comfortable stay. Also, the hot tub and sauna were amazing.

A clean and lovely sauna cottage. The host offered to heat up the sauna, so we got to the sauna and the hot tubs right away. The host's apartment next to the sauna cottage didn't detract from the visit, we were left alone throughout the visit. Lovely place to relax, testimonials! 😊

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the cabin for 3 nights! The setting is beautiful and peaceful and the cabin was well equipped with all the amenities. We particularly loved the sauna which is wood fired with a window looking out on the scenery. The interior is a little more rustic than the pictures but absolutely fine and met the description, we were more than happy. The lake is not 6 min walk away but right by the cabin, so you can easily dip after a sauna (15-20 degrees in Summer). Cabin is well equipped for heating and cooling. The grill is great and you don't need to bring anything other than food. There is no real walking trails from the cabin but the row boat was a fun alternative! We visited in June and had no real problems with mosquitos, some around but they didn't harass us on the decking, worth having repellent, especially if you go on the nearby short hiking trail. Irma and the host nearby in the neighboring cabin were very helpful and friendly!

This place was just what we needed – a perfect respite in the middle of nature. The cottage was like straight out of a fairy tale: beautifully decorated, full of thoughtful details and a wonderful atmosphere. Soft saunas, silence and sweet dreams made me feel peaceful. The forest pond and evening bath in the tub crowned the day – water steaming under the stars, surrounded only by the sounds of the forest. It felt like time had stopped. And the hosts' own pies - a warm gesture that made me feel really welcome. A heartfelt place to come back to again.

easy to find! instructions very clear. the place was just as it was in the description! we went to the boat, the wind was so strong that we didn't go out to play pirates any more. you could be in peace! a nice addition, but the best barbecue possibilities!

Celebrated Midsummer with a dog and a 1-year-old child. The small sandy area was nice for the child and the place is at the end of the road so the dog could be free. Everything needed was found inside and outside and we managed without problems. You get used to the sound of Jyväskyläntie mentioned in the description and when grilling, smoking, etc., you no longer notice them. A short distance to Sysmä/Hartola/Heinola where there are shops and services and water fountains for drinking water replenishment. No complaints from our family!

Juha was a fantastic host — warm, communicative, and thoughtful. The cottage was clean, cozy, and well-equipped, with a beautiful terrace and even a new TV. We especially appreciated the flexibility with check-in and check-out. Everything was exactly as described (if not better), and we felt very welcome.

Great hosts and a great place to stay. The location is beautiful. Located directly at the national park, you can go hiking right at your doorstep. The jetty to the lake is great for swimming. On the covered terrace you sit very comfortably. Asmo and Hannele were great hosts who were always available. We felt very at home.

Host Olli Pekka very responsive and just like the listing. Very nice place despite the cold period we experienced. Traditional wood-burning sauna, indoor toilet without running water is the only disturbing point. Recommended

Nice beautiful little cottage by the lake, which was neat and compact. It was easy to dive into the lake and the water was really shallow, which was well suited for swimming with a child. We were able to play😊 cottage games in the yard, a beautiful and peaceful area in the heart of nature!

Beautiful location, very peaceful. The house is comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. Cleanliness could be slightly better as there were lots of traces of dogs. Better curtains to block the light downstairs would also have been appreciated. Otherwise, everything was great.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Birdhouse. The cottage is in a quiet location by the lake, very spacious and the kitchen is well-equipped. I also always appreciate the blackout curtains in the bedroom and the beds were comfortable, we got the whole crew to sleep really well. The sauna had a shower that provided hot water, which also made it easier for the baby to bathe. Check-in was easy and checkout was flexible, Minna-Liisa responded very quickly. Highly recommended and we'll definitely be back in the future!

Our stay was very pleasant. The place was arranged by Klaus with great care and the result is visible. The large wood-burning sauna is beautiful. The proximity to the woods and the lake made the vacation really special. Klaus gave us detailed instructions and also provided tips for events and excursions in the area.

Satu was the perfect host! She welcomed us into her cottage and explained very clearly everything about the place. The cottage was in a peaceful and beautiful location. In the house there all the amenities needed for a cottage stay, including electrical heating inside both the house and the aitta. The area around the cottage is very nice, and with the rowing boat is possible to easily tour around the lake.

We had a wonderful time in the little cottage right on the lake! The terrace has given us numerous sunsets, the cottage is small but beautifully furnished. Everything was as described in the advertisement. Hannu was very friendly and helpful. The connection with the bus worked out great and you are not necessarily dependent on a car.

The cottage was very neat, stylish and yet cozy. The location was perfect for us. The proximity of the sports college offered all the activities and in the evenings you could listen to the birds singing on a peaceful terrace.
