Cabin vacation rentals in Owensboro

Bud and Michelle have made a cozy, gorgeous getaway location out of their Heron’s Nest. The location on the shore of the Ohio river guarantees a connection with nature. We enjoyed the star-filled skies at night, the howling coyotes heard from the peace of the deck, or the mist-filled morning view of the river. The cabin is in the South end of the Hoosier Natural forest so there is access to hikes and nature. It’s a close drive from Louisville, but we came from farther north for the ‘24 Eclipse. We drove 45 min N into the path of totality to cap off a wonderful family weekend. The cabin itself is a treasure. Our family enjoyed the unique architecture with lofts and just the right amount of space for a good size family with all the amenities. Cozy bedrooms, beautiful wood surfaces throughout the cabin, and nice kitchen for meal preps, good size gas grill for meals, and spacious sitting areas on the deck. The hot tub was nice after the hikes. We even brought our 2 dogs. Thank you!

Beautiful home on the Ohio River. It was my birthday week and we were looking for something private, peaceful, and somewhere that our dogs could run and play. This was the perfect place. We enjoyed having coffee in the mornings on the back deck while overlooking the river and ended our days in the hot tub overlooking the river. Serene, beautiful, and peaceful. Vince is a great host. I would definitely love to go back in the future.

Great place to stay for a family getaway

I would definitely stay in this cabin again! It was pristine, super clean, and stocked with thoughtful extras you rarely see—like shampoo, body wash, brand new toothbrushes, toothpaste, and more. A bird watcher's dream—so many unique bird calls we identified with an app. Karen was an amazing host. When a storm knocked out power our first night, she brought over candles and kept us informed about the outage. Her care and communication really stood out. Highly recommend!

We loved our stay! The fire pit was lovely, the hot tub was just what we needed after a long day at Holiday World, and the bed was comfortable with soft linens. I was especially impressed with how friendly and accommodating the host and all her clear and welcoming messages were. It’s clear they really went above and beyond to make you feel like you’re home!

If I could give this place six stars, I totally would! My family had a great time fishing and enjoying the beautiful natural setting. Our five year old caught a bunch of fish and she was so sad to leave and I don’t blame her. It was a pretty magical place. The place was super clean and was more spacious than what I was expecting from the pictures. The couches and mattresses were extremely comfortable which is always a huge plus. Tim is a great guy and made us feel so welcomed and at home. Awesome stay!!!

This was the perfect place to stay for Father’s Day weekend! Nice spot that’s peaceful and perfect for folks who love fishing.

Marissa was so responsive… and we were placed in the middle of Bluegrass country was simply amazing! I spent two days at Mammoth Caves National Park, and one day at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame, jamming with other musicians, and one day at the Bill Monroe museum and homeplace in Rosine, Kentucky… It was an amazing! adventure!

We enjoyed our stay, having everything we needed. Our youngest loved the loft and we enjoyed the porch swings while watching nature.

Kimberly with Evolve made our stay wonderful. She was available and responsive for our every need. Not to mention, she was extremely gracious! The stay at the cabin was comfortable, private, and beautiful. The sound of all the bird calls and the buzz of the humming birds in the morning is the BEST with a cup of coffee. It was a cabin experience that our family with remember and treasure!

Highly recommend this location if you're in the area, very peaceful and beautiful lodge set up on the hill overlooking a pond. We needed to have enough room to park our truck and 14-foot trailer. It was perfect for that. The layout was great, if it rained you could be on the front porch or in the garage. Paula, the host responded to my texts in timely manner so Thank you being a great host it was very relaxing for us. We will be on the list to book again in the future for sure. Great to know they allow pets. We didn't bring ours but good to know. Thank you.

This was the perfect spot for a family vacation! We enjoyed this beautiful home with lots of amenities and peaceful surroundings. The house has so much to offer for all ages and is really set up perfectly to allow for gathering together as well as retreating to your own spaces as needed! Would 100% recommend!

wonderful little place to stay while working at mill. Will be back

We came to this lovely cabin for our annual sibling reunion. We had a great week as always. Even the bed downstairs, under the steps was comfortable and fun. We were able to enjoy things inside and out. A nice walk down to the lake and a nice firepit just past the yard in the trees. We did find a couple of things after we had been there a few days that would be helpful to know ahead of time. The lights have a turn switch that allows for two levels of brightness, there are 2 coffee pots, a Keurig and a drip pot, there is a table leaf under the upstairs bedroom, and there are extra trash bags in the trash can that you find when you take the bag out, no need to buy extras. We did most of our shopping in Litchfield before we arrived and used the Dollar General for anything we needed later in the week. Dan was always helpful with suggestions and answers when needed. Very cozy cabin.

My daughter and her family stayed with us and there was plenty to do in the area. Kids swam in the river below the house and we also went about 5 minutes away and rented a pontoon boat and spent the day on Rough Lake.

The house was clean and the host was very accommodating. Would definitely stay there again.

My children & grandchildren & I celebrated my husband’s 60th birthday. A very great place for family time! Very roomy & cozy! Our host was very responsive & helpful! We all loved it and can’t wait to get together again! ♥️

This cabin overlooks the Ohio River and had a beautiful view. The downstairs bedroom, bathroom and living area are super private from the rest of the cabin. Gregory was responsive to all our questions. Make sure and go to the town of Derby and the Derby Market, 15 minutes away on scenic drive. Great experience for us.

It is a beautiful log home along the river/ lake. It is a great place for a larger family or a smaller extended family to spend a week. The area around the home is very remote, which is what we loved about it. The home is well laid out and easy to cook, entertain and enjoy cookouts, fire pits and the river. If you are ever in the area, I would certainly recommend.

What can I say. The place was as nice as pictured. The host were very accommodating and would definitely recommend and come back
