This was a great base for tackling the Fells from the Wasdale Valley. Good food and beer in the Strands Inn. Recommended.

This place was really nice - great as a base to explore both north and south, and is in a stunning location - we loved being right next to the lake.
A scenic view of a tranquil lake surrounded by rolling hills. Light reflects off the water's surface, while patches of grass and earthy terrain frame the image. The distant mountains are capped with snow, under a partly cloudy sky.

Great place to stay with a great view and so close to scafell pike. We struggled to find in the first place but the instructions were clear when on the right road and was our own fault. Can't fault the apartment itself has everything you need.

Lovely Lake District rural retreat

ElyseRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
What a memorable stay in the Lake District, in an absolute beautiful and remote place that has so much history! Kate was a fantastic host, we loved our conversations together and hanging out by the fire in the evening. The cats and the hens brought us so much joy! Kate went above and beyond to set up breakfast with many choices - even accommodating for gluten and dairy free. The road to get there is an adventure in itself, luckily there's not much traffic and it went really well for us. We would highly recommend staying there! Note that the ground in front of the house is uneven and there are a few steps to get into the house, which can be challenging for people who have difficulties going up stairs. You might be as lucky as us and have a cat waiting for you at the top though!
A serene landscape is showcased, featuring rolling hills and mountains surrounding a calm lake. A winding road leads through a grassy area, while muted colors dominate the sky, indicating a cloudy day. The scene offers a sense of tranquility and natural beauty typical of the Lake District.
