The interior furnishings and decorations are also carefully selected and arranged by us. Antique stained glass, Isamu Noguchi-designed washi lamps, and a large bed room with Simmons mattresses and Muji bedding. The bedding in the tatami room is based on the feedback from previous guests, and thicker mattresses have been specially prepared. We hope you can rest more comfortably and have a pleasant stay. Every detail is designed to make guests feel the warmth and peace of home, and quietly experience the unique atmosphere of Kyoto.

Built in the early Showa era and long used as a tea ceremony classroom, the townhouse has been reborn as a private rental inn, "Kyomachiya Cottage karigane". It is a 1-minute walk to the hot springs and Daikokuji Temple, which has deep ties to tea. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts.
