Location Opened in May 2024. Located in the heart of Takayama's historic district, Makoto-ya Ojin is a stylish inn in 1-chome, Ojin-cho, Takayama City, where the good old Japanese landscape remains. In front of our house, which is sandwiched between the Hida-Buri Highway that connects the former Toyama and Takayama, there are the Nissho-bu Mingei Kan and the Yoshima residence, which are important cultural properties that show the rich cultural assets of Japan, and this area is designated as a preservation district for traditional buildings. You can enjoy the old town and beautiful scenery while experiencing historic buildings. It is a 2-minute walk to Miyagawa Morning Market and a 5-minute walk to Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine, the site of the autumn Takayama Festival. The festival stall in this area is called Hōmeita, and it has a variety of decorations such as a palanquin and sculptures (1-minute walk to the stall). Enjoy Takayama's history to the fullest in an excellent location. <Building and Hida master carpenters> Built 145 years ago by a master craftsman from Hida, this building has been revived here by modern craftsmen. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, recommended for travelers who want to live and experience Kyoto like a local. The entire Motomachi house is for rent. You will not share any spaces with other guests. You can enjoy a private and peaceful time with just your family or friends. Some of the walls in the house were renovated by us using DIY methods. The interior furnishings and decorations are also carefully selected and arranged by us. Antique stained glass, Isamu Noguchi-designed washi lamps, and a large bed room with Simmons mattresses and Muji bedding. The bedding in the tatami room is based on the feedback from previous guests, and thicker mattresses have been specially prepared. We hope you can rest more comfortably and have a pleasant stay. Every detail is designed to make guests feel the warmth and peace of home, and quietly experience the unique atmosphere of Kyoto.
