Family-friendly vacation rentals in Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria

Apartment is nicely furnished and spread over two floors with two bathrooms. On the ground floor is a double bedroom and a small bedroom with a bed with the possibility to set up a bunk bed. The kitchen is sufficiently furnished. A washing machine is provided, Wi-Fi is not provided. The apartment is centrally located on a small side street. The train station is not far away. However, the train traffic is not disruptive. You can hear the occasional train announcements from the train station. Overall, the stay was pleasant. The communication with the landlord was quick and easy.

Beautiful and cozy house with large indoor and outdoor spaces and a beautiful view of the sea, reachable on foot. Simone and her family were kind and courteous, from the moment of the reception until the departure. Recommended.

Graziella and Antonio are very welcoming and responsive and made us feel like family. Graziella greeted us and gave us a thorough tour of the house and the grounds. The Villa is well equipped and spacious with a stunning view of the Strait of Messina and Sicily. The Villa is located minutes from the city of Reggio and easy access to other towns in the region. We had an amazing time and hope to return one day.

Carlo’s place was amazing! The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The apartment had everything our family needed for our short two night stay in Scilla. Scilla is a beautiful little town. Everything was walkable and the locals are friendly. The apartment is close to a small beach where we rented chairs and spent a good part of the day. The larger beach is walkable as well- it’s beautiful but more crowded. Carlo was very responsive and a great host! If we visit Scilla again, we will definitely stay here!

We stayed on this space for 3 days. Was super clean. Giovanna showed us everything at check-in. We were in Scilla or on the ferry in Sicily within 10 minutes. If you walked down the street, you were right by the sea and could look over to Sicily. The only minor thing that bothered us was the motorists. The house is located on a curve, i.e. here you can lift from any direction. Especially in the morning from 8:00 am it was quite annoying, at the other times it had not bothered us. I recommend the place for a trip to Scilla or to come to Sicily.

Rocco's apartment is in a fantastic location in Scilla, with sea views and easy access to the whole town on foot. Do be prepared to do plenty of walking, including up and down the steps to the lungomare and Chianalea (but it is worth it!) The facilities in the apartment are fairly basic - the kitchen is small with just a 3 burner gas hob, no oven or microwave. However, we stayed there for 2 weeks and cooked the majority of our meals, which we were able to enjoy in the private 'garden room'. There were only 2 of us, so it was fine, but it would be difficult to cook for a larger party. Rocco is a very responsive and proactive host, and was able to help with transport to and from the station (thank you Carlo) and any queries. Overall, we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and would use this apartment again if we return to Scilla.

Luigi met us at check in. He did not speak English, but it worked. We had absolute privacy and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. We were greeted by birds every morning and a view to the sea. Unfortunately for us, many restaurants were closed for the season. However we were able to get into two with reservation. The apartment is located well next to the main piazza and parking in front of the building was easy. We stayed four nights with no regrets.

Beautiful, large, well-equipped and beautifully furnished accommodation. The location is rather quiet, but you can quickly walk to the beach and the center.

Everything was perfect during the stay at Paolo's. Very helpful, helpful with all his suggestions on restaurants and beaches and the house is really in a great location to visit the Ionian coast from Soverato to Siderno.

Francesco is a great host. Present and thoughtful. The villa is simply enchanting. Cleanliness, location, decor... everything is exceptional! The view is also the distinctive element with wonderful views of the calanques and the Ionian that morning and evening awaits you only to be admired in the silence and peace that this place knows how to convey to the end. The beautiful, panoramic swimming pool immersed in a garden cared for in every detail is a comfortable plus for those with children, even if the Calabrian sea is in itself a natural swimming pool and it is impossible to resist its wild beaches bathed by an incomparable sea. Thank you Francesco. It will be a pleasure to be your guest again.

Beautiful, well-kept and authentic place. Lovely garden and pool with beautiful and clean view. Actually 7 minutes from the beach by car. The owners were very welcoming and flexible , they even let us find groceries at home and gave us veggies from their garden and fresh eggs from the chicken coop! We absolutely recommend the place! Nb: it's important to keep in mind that the other apartment that accommodates 5 people in the same property is just 5 meters from our rooms and the tables to eat in the garden a few meters from each other :so great for two families of friends looking to join for the holidays

My stay at the San Ferdinando residence was simply fantastic! The property is modern and well cared for, with all the necessary comforts to make your stay extremely pleasant. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tastefully furnished, which has helped create a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. A special thank you goes to Marino, our host, who was extremely courteous and helpful from the first moment. Marino has provided us with valuable tips about the area and local attractions, allowing us to live an authentic and unforgettable experience. Your care in making our stay perfect is truly commendable. I highly recommend the San Ferdinando residence to anyone who wants to spend a relaxing and comfortable vacation, with the security of being welcomed by an exceptional host like Marino.

In all, Vittoria’s place was an idyllic home base for exploring eastern Calabria, but poor and confusing communication made us almost cancel our booking a week before our trip. We weren’t even sent the address until the day before arrival, but it was worth persevering, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Peace, quiet, and solitude are key factors for us when booking holiday accommodations and the listing was so vague, we had no idea until we actually arrived whether we would be sharing the space with other travellers. As it turned out, we were in a spacious masseria, surrounded by citrus groves in which we could sit and watch the stars at night. There were two other families staying in the same complex, but we rarely saw or heard them, though future guests could be faced with all-night partyers or noisy children playing tag among the bergamot trees. It’s a risk to consider. Our living space was roomy, easily sleeping four or five, with two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a dining/lounge area. The main, upstairs bedroom was extremely hot, but we asked for a fan, which combined with the downstairs air conditioning cooled things off enough. We cook a lot on holidays and the kitchen was adequate but lacking in basic equipment such as a cheese grater and wine glasses and absolutely no essentials such as salt, oil, or water are provided. There were a few eccentric niggles with the property – we never could figure out where to put our rubbish, for example – but nothing that prevented us from enjoying the glorious surroundings. The masseria is three minutes’ drive from the agriturismo that is run by the same owner. The agriturismo clearly hosts many more guests than the masseria, but we were there during the Covid-19 crisis and few others were to be seen. Organic meals are served there (25 Euros for a four-course meal) but the one night we booked a table got cancelled because the restaurant was closed on Monday. We were offered lemonade, fruit, coffee, and crostata upon arrival and departure, and I got the feeling that they would happily provide anything you asked for. The star attraction for us was the glorious swimming pool, beautifully set in an enclosed garden area with banana trees, lounge chairs, and a spectacular view. Again, perhaps because of the dates we were there or our non-Italian schedules, we had the pool to ourselves throughout most of our stay. This may not always be the case, as the bewildering instructions for the pool specify limits for swimming times and number of people allowed in the pool. Now that we know the details of the place and some of the mysteries are solved, we would be much more comfortable booking and staying there again and would recommend it to other travellers looking for a lovely and well-located place to stay in Calabria.
